DUTIES:
Responds to emergencies and non-emergencyincidents;utilizes the incidentcommand system
to direct activities and communications in fire and/or emergencysituations;takes action to
mitigate hazards and
treat patients;make decisions affecting life and property under emergencycircumstances;
develop tactics and strategies for major or critical incidents.
Participates in the managementofa comprehensive fire suppression,fire prevention,emergency
medical services,disaster preparedness,hazardous materials response,and associated
programs,services,and operations.
Thorough knowledge offirefighting methods and techniques and abilityto apply this knowledge to
various fire control and fire prevention problems.Thorough knowledge ofthe use and operation of
a wide variety of firefighting equipmentand apparatus.
Ability to plan,assign,and coordinate the work of firefighters engaged in fire prevention and fire
control activities.
Drove and operated firefighting vehicles ofsignificantcomplexity;of the principles ofhydraulics
as they pertain to water flow, water pressure,water levels,line (friction) losses,etc.; and of basic
and specialized firefighting equipment(fire alarm system operation,fire extinguishing equipment
operation,etc.), techniques,and procedures.
Knowledge ofemergencyfirstaid techniques;safetyrequirements as outlined in applicable safety
standards,regulations,and/or technical orders;and HAZMAT emergencyresponse procedures,
equipment,and identification.
Knowledge ofbuilding design,construction,and occupancy;and of the latestchanges in aircraft
cockpit design,ordnance placement,and cabin layouts to include the operation ofhatch or
canopy release mechanisms,ejection seatmechanisms,and/or oxygen supplysystems.

fighting and rescue activities until relieved by a senior officer.
Controlled and extinguished fires as a member ofan organized militarybase,performing rescue
operations,detecting,reducing,or eliminating potential fire hazards.Responds to hazardous
materials incidents,performing basic life supportas a EMR and controls and extinguishes fires
along with conducting rescue operations in an aviation environment.
