The village of Sultangarh in Rajasthan had lived in extreme poverty for a long time, with families engaging in occupations like snake charming and begging. A lack of education led to issues like child marriage and addiction. The village received its first school in 1999 but enrollment was poor due to lack of awareness and belief in education. When Bharti Foundation adopted the school in 2008, they worked to convince the population of the benefits of education by equipping the school with facilities and providing meals to students. Parents began attending meetings and taking pride in their children's education. The community began to believe that education could change lives as several students scored well on exams in consecutive years.
