Self titled aimed to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington, IL in order to provide their organization with essential needs to function more successfully and efficiently. We also collected donations for the organization’s Thanksgiving Holiday dinner as well as volunteered at the event in order to make it run smoothly.
We had first began brainstorming ways we could go about fundraising and thought of different methods such as tabling events outside the Pub as well as on the quad but quickly found out it requires a number of permits so we worked around this in order to come up with the funds necessary for the organization. We ultimately ended up individually raising funds via our CauseVox pages and reached our goals.
We encountered a number of difficulties throughout the semester involving donations for the Thanksgiving dinner. We worked with a the Greek house Tri Sigma in order to provide the Boys and Girls Club with tables and chairs for their Thanksgiving event, but encountered an issue with being able to borrow the tables on the set dates. We worked with the sorority and ultimately ended up solving our issues as a team in order to keep our agreement and get the tables and chairs donated. We also had issues with fundraising but ended up meeting our fundraising goals with causevox and food donations from local food pantries.
We helped bring our donations of tables and chairs to the club the day before the event and then returned the next night to help set up, serve the dinner, and clean up after.

We also had the idea to try and host a talent show for the kids of Boys and Girls Club and make money through that. Jenny warned us about how much effort and preparation that would require and ultimately mentioned that she was in need of assistance for the annual Thanksgiving dinner. We ended up individually raising funds via our CauseVox pages and reached our goals.

We need to incorporate course concepts that we encountered as a group here, 3 total.
We also need to refer to EXACT minute meetings, conversations, and situations to support this.

“We used a variation on traditional brainstorming which is.....(our example) in our meeting on (blah blah date). It worked well because...(then analyze)
We incorporated task cohesion during all of our meetings, referring to the commitment of group members to the purpose of the group’s task related goals and activities. During the meeting held on October 5th, each of us performed our task of creating a causevox website for the donation portion of our project. Although we each individually did this, we performed this task as a group in order to make sure that everyone got theirs setup correctly. This helped us moved forward in the fundraising aspect of our group project.
Other ideas….Brainwriting(idea writing to be exact. The meeting where we wrote down a list of all the possible places we could get donations from) Meeting 9 on November 6th we went round robin writing down ideas and then reviewed them at the end to come up with places to ask for dessert donations. We decided to ask Bob Evans, Insomnia Cookies, and the church group Encounter.
A Group support system (GSS) of GroupMe was set up shortly after the groups were announced and before the first meeting. This was in order to work collaboratively and discuss things even while not meeting.
Team Self-Titled donated time and efforts in order to make the Boys and Girls Club’s Thanksgiving Family Dinner event a success. We aided in kitchen work such as cooking, serving, cleaning, and interacting with the members of the club and their families at the event. We also cleaned, set up, and took down tables and chairs in an effort to minimize the work done by employees.

We achieved our fundraising goals because our team was persistent with reaching out to people about making donations for such a great cause. We explained in detail what the donations would be going towards and did a great job getting people on board. The fact that our team worked together to develop ways to collect donations made us successful in achieving our goals. We also helped the Boys and Girls Club host a successful Thanksgiving dinner by contributing monetary donations and our manual labor in serving the dinner and helping provide desserts, chairs, and tables for the event.
(Use the term from the text correctly; if you discussed decision making processes in the course concept section, just give a quick reiteration)
Thank you for this great opportunity. We learned so many communication skills and applied them to real world experience.
It was such a joy to work with the Boys and Girls club. Jenny was very helpful helping us complete our goal.
The kids were a blast to work with. Our group was lucky to be paired together.
