  2. 2. Abstract <ul><li>In this presentation Cerner’s clinical information system that is used by University of Illinois in Chicago will be evaluated. The criteria by which it was evaluated will be displayed in the PowerPoint. Benefits will be outlined in the following slides. </li></ul>

Cerner Millennium Inpatient Sub Systems/Integrated Systems <ul><li>Cerner consists of numerous sub systems/integrated systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Cerner is a complex customizable platform with applications or solutions as Cerner calls them. These solutions can be modified, added or removed to tailor it’s use for a given health system. </li></ul><ul><li>Cerner consists of two primary sub systems: Cerner Millenium and Cerner Powerworks. </li></ul>

Data Back Up <ul><li>Data Entry and Recovery with Oracle RMAN system is a highly efficient system. </li></ul><ul><li>Databases can be customized from single limited data bases to multiple database unlimited storage systems. </li></ul><ul><li>The needs of a hospital are ever changing and this system can grow with them. </li></ul><ul><li>Data entry and recovery happen separately increasing speed of data usage. </li></ul>
  16. 16. Security <ul><li>Charts are more secure than ever. Charts are password protected. Charting is paperless, decreasing the information that can get into the wrong hands. </li></ul><ul><li>Only necessary people may enter or use the information in a chart. </li></ul>
  17. 17. System Users and Support <ul><li>As said previously, the solutions Cerner offers vary by need from surgery to primary care. System users of a given system log on via strong passwords and are able to document. </li></ul><ul><li>Cerner has a support system that is available 24 hours a day and 365 days per year. They are always on call to address a hospitals needs. </li></ul>

Cerner as a whole system <ul><li>Cerner as a clinical information system is very detailed one and is divided into different sections which makes it easy to search for a particular question/concern/topic we are looking for. </li></ul><ul><li>It has a vast array of information on health care system in almost every specialized field and makes it easy , not only for the physicians or health care institutes but even for the patients whether it be trying to gain information on their health or medical records or trying to learn something new. </li></ul>
