UNICEF was created in December 1946 by
the United Nations to provide food, clothing
and health care to children.
3. WHERE THEY WORK ..
They are the leading advocate for children’s
rights, active in more than 190 countries, such
as East Asia, Middle East and North Africa,
Latin America.
4. WHAT IT’S THE AIM…
The overall aim of UNICEF's humanitarian
response is to save lives, alleviate suffering and
protect the rights of children. UNICEF's five areas
of focus are as followed: - Child survival and
development - Basic education and gender
equality – HIV and children - Child protection -
Policy advocacy and partnerships.
5. UNICEF IN PORTUGAL ..
The Portuguese UNICEF was founded in April
1979, is a non-governmental organization. We
are one of 37 naational committees. They are
based in Lisbon and they collaborate with some
Ambassadors like the Presenter Catarina
Furtado, the international football soccer player
Figo, and others.
