Faculty of Architecture
•
Originally established in 1962 as the School of Architecture, the
Faculty of Architecture at CEPT University is one of the vital centers of
thought and education in the field of Architecture in India.
•
It continues to aim for excellence in its teaching and research
programs in the field of Architecture. The Faculty enjoys an excellent
reputation both nationally as well as internationally.
Architecture
•
Architecture is situated in physical contexts, both natural and
manmade.
•
It is shaped by and helps to shape the form of settlements.
•
It has to be responsive to cultural contexts of deep historical and
ideological significance. It significantly affects the flows of resources
and energy.
•
Education at the Faculty is therefore based on the premise that an
Architect is one of the responsible agents of societal change.
•
Education must give the student a breadth of cultural exposure that
shapes a reflective and critical outlook based on social and
environmental awareness and responsiveness.
•
This must be combined with the rigorous learning of the skills and
disciplines necessary in the profession of Architecture.
•
This twofold orientation and a well-developed pedagogical method
have helped the school to become an outstanding centre of
Architectural thought, research and learning.
Bachelor of Architecture
•
The Bachelor of Architecture program aims to educate thoughtful and
responsible persons effectively able to tackle the challenges of the
profession.
Masters in Architecture
•
The Masters program in Architecture offers specializations in Urban
Design, Theory and Design, Architecture and Settlement Conservation
and Sustainable Architecture.
•
Teaching and Research in all these specializations is interconnected,
and thus the first semester of the courses is a common platform for
developing a strong sense of the relations between the specialized
approaches.
•
The M A in Art, Design & Communication which was offered by the
Faculty of Arts & Humanities now stands merged with the Faculty of
Architecture as part of the overall academic restructuring at CEPT
University.
