Pros And Cons Of High School Basketball Players
There are many reasons of why high school basketball players should just make the traumatic jump from high school to the pros but they best option
is going to college first. When you think of any normal high school athlete, you think of their skill level is not fully developed, maybe they are very
lazy and they have no work ethic and the biggest thing is that they are very immature both physically and mentally. In college they develop all of these
assets to a level where you can get to the pros. Many high school basketball players have very small range of skill other than the basics such as;
catching the ball, being able to dribble, how to shoot and how to play defense. Most of them have a very limited amount of basketball IQ. Basketball

Personal Narrative: My Last Shot In Basketball
Sweat trickled down my face. The fans were shrilling in the stands. My heart was beating at an incredible rate. How can anyone understand the
intensity and anxiety I was experiencing? I sped down the court as the clock was near to its end. As I shot the basketball, the fans silenced, and the
buzzer released its alarm. My whole world was a blur. "Move it! Come on! Do you want to become a failure? Hustle!" barked my high school basketball
coach, Tony Jackson. We were practicing a lay–up drill as quickly as possible. I saw as my teammates nervously dribbled down the lane to shoot a
lay–up. Most players succeeded, but sometimes the shot was only to fail. Scotty, my best friend, passed the ball to me after shooting his lay–up.
Dribbling the ball down the lane, I was wondering "I can't miss the easiest shot in basketball." I leaped a couple feet away from the basket and shot
the ball. The basketball bounced off the backboard. And sank through the hoop. "The backboard is my friend," I stated to myself. I trotted to the back
of the line as I high–fived Scotty. "Howard Johnson, you'll play as a shooting guard. Scott Sanchez, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every basketball year of my life, time after time, my team never won a basketball championship, but this year, my team has a pretty good chance.
Luckily, my team did not play the Hawks in the tournament, but every team that did, was eliminated out of the tournament. My team beat every team
we played in the tournament, and we made it to the semi–finals. In the semi–finals, our team played the Watson Wizards. The team was descent, but we
knew we could beat them. The first half of the game was close. My team was winning a little at the third quarter, but the Wizards just could not shoot
the ball in the fourth quarter. The victory claimed to be a score of 68 to 53 with my team winning. Just thinking about being in the finals was a thrill
until we saw that we were going to play the Hill Valley

Basketball and Soccer
America is a country that loves sports. Two of America's most popular sports are basketball and soccer. Many children participate in the sports every
year. Similarities are abundant between the two. Both sports require team work. Also the main purpose of both is to put a ball into a netted goal.
However, there are some very important key differences. Soccer is played on a field that is much larger and there is a goalie that constantly defends
the goal. While basketball is played on a smaller hardwood court with fewer players active at once. Furthermore, soccer is low scoring and more
strategic when compared to basketball, which has final scores in the hundreds. All in all, many similarities there are huge differences between ... Show

Personal Narrative: Middle School Basketball
When I was younger, basketball was all I wanted to play, it just looked like so much fun. In fifth grade I had my parents sign me up for CYB, then
in sixth grade I tried out for middle school basketball and played all the way up until ninth grade. In middle school when I was in eighth grade I was
awarded the captain position and that helped me build leadership and responsibility. All of the players especially the younger ones knew they could
always come to me at any time if they needed anything or help with anything. High school basketball was a lot different than middle school. In middle
school I was one of the star players so I played a lot but in high school that changed. I sat the bench a lot that taught me patience and understanding even

Basketball Is The Most Popular And Beloved Sports Essay
Professional Basketball
Basketball is one of the most popular and beloved sports that is played today. Michael Jordan who played for the Washington Wizards and the Chicago
Bulls once said, "Just play, have fun, and enjoy the game" (BrainyQuote 2016). Whether playing with friends for fun or by professionals for
entertainment or simply watching from home, basketball is a sport that is enjoyed all over the world. Beginning with a unique history, basketball has
evolved over time from a simple idea into a professional career choice for those with the unique skill set.
During the winter of 1892 in a town in Massachusetts a physical education teacher, Dr. James Naismith, at a YMCA school created a game where
young men could play indoors instead of going outside in the freezing cold. To get prepared for the game, Dr. Naismith came up with some rules for
the game, gathered two peach baskets for hoops and a soccer ball and he coached the first basketball game in history.
Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four out of the thirteen rules that he came up with no longer are followed in today 's version of
basketball, the nine that are left were slightly modified and are still in use today. The original thirteen rules are as follows:
The ball can be thrown with both hands in any direction.
The player can not run with the ball, so they have to throw it where they caught it from.
The ball can be batted in any direction not with the fist but with both hands.

Basketball In The 1930's
Basketball was first introduced in the late 1800's. As the game evolved so did the developments of the game as well. Some of the things that were
developing were the rules of the game. These rules included the basic rules that we see today such as traveling, double dribble, personal fouls and
technical fouls. Other things that were developing were players learning how to dribble and how to shoot. Although there was no proper way to
figure out a way to score a basket, players sought fit the best way the best way they knew at the time. As time passed players of the sport often studied
each other. Those who were successful at scoring the basketball were studied more than others. Layups were common in the early 1930's because the

differently. This was simply a summary of a natural jump shooter. Biomechanics can be used to assess a player's ability to shoot accurately and
consistently. This analysis did not focus on what a correct shooting form is. It spoke about the three phases of jump shot, which were the preparation,
the execution and the follow through phases. It also stated how each of these phases directly relates the biomechanical principle that goes into a jump
shot. The jump shot has been around in the game of basketball for many years. As the game grows year by year, I'm sure that it will be analyzed more
and more. Different players produce different results. Therefore it will increase the need for analysts to study the jump shot

Basketball Personal Narrative
Basketball my 6th grade year was rough. It was my very first year ever playing sports. Since I went to a small elementary school everyone made
the team and I was the only 6th grade student that joined I was so nervous the first practice my hands were shaking way faster than I could run.
The rest of the girls were eighth graders that had a ball thrown at them the second the exited the womb; let me just tell you that season sucked.
Even though I cried after every game because I wasn't good enough and in practice always crossed the finish line last I still somehow loved the
game. It wasn't the only game I loved though; I also loved soccer. After I kept the benches warm 6th grade year I decided I was going to work hard.
I started running a mile at least once a week. Which turned into two miles after I filled a few buckets of sweat after a couple weeks. I had
convinced my uncle to let me be a substitute on his indoor soccer team since I already missed tryouts. I loved indoor soccer so much and that's
when I began to really start improving. I scored my first goal that season with five others after. I loved the feeling of putting in every drop of work I
could into a game that I truly loved. Travel soccer didn't only make me better at sports but I improved as a person. I began to be more positive, I worked

the first to finish running, instead of the last. I was ten times more aggressive and confident in myself when I was told to try something new. Somehow
I knew how to dribble the basketball ten times better, and my defense was great. I went home so

The Problem Of West Mendham
In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to "look the other way" in order to fulfil one's own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous
when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town
decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by shortterm gains and thus fail to see the long term effect of the agreement
made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with
development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains.
Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a
floodwall. The construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to
protect the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a
flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of
course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction.
However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional

Guards Drill Basketball
Guards are the playmakers on a basketball team. Frequently, they drive fast breaks and are the court generals in charge of running the offense. Even
the most experienced guards need to practice important drills that improve their skills. Here are [] excellent drills for guards to ehance the skills they
need to help their team win.
Court Vision
Ever player on the basketball court benefits from improving their court vision. None more so than a guard though. Being able to instantly locate open
teammates, or avoid situations where the defense is ready to cut off a passing lane, are critical. Practicing repetitive drills that improve court vision are
the first tip to becoming a better all–around basketball player.
Ball Handling Skills

Having the skill to dribble a basketball with expert control is essential. Guards must be able to dribble and advance the ball by beating their defender,
all the while keeping their eyes on the court.
This skill takes years of practice. However, practicing crossovers, dribbling with both hands, speed dribbling and gaining confidence in ball control are
honed by hours of repetitive ball–handling drills.
Defense Wins Basketball Games
The lost art of playing defense is witnessed on many basketball courts. While the guards need to have court vision and ball–handling skills, they also
must defend. If the other guards cannot successfully ignite fast breaks or run their own offense, it makes it hard for the opposition to score.
All players need to improve their defense skills, but the guard position is the most exposed. They are most often trying to guard their opponent in the
open court. Foot speed is important and can only be developed by practicing repetitive drills such as sprints.
Fast break drills are not only an excellent way to improve ball–handling, but they are great for teaching players how to defend on the run. There are
other defensive drills that teach good defensive spacing, playing help side defense and how to successfully defend against the

How To Shoot A Basketball
How to Shoot a Basketball
"Swish", the ball goes through the net! I often wonder how some of the best basketball players get to be so accurate with their shot. Basketball
shooting form has changed many times over the years, and all of the great shooters today spend hours on end perfecting the process that they go
through every time they take a shot. The process of shooting a basketball is very important.
The first, most important, step when shooting a basketball is the alignment of your feet. Your feet, if you are a right handed shooter, should be slightly
turned and pointed toward the left side of the basket. Instead of having both of your feet pointed straight at the basket, you want to have the right side
of your body in line with the basket.

How I Spent Active And Be Outdoors

to stop playing basketball for the next 3 months and also cut my gym membership. It was one of the worst nights of my life.
Basketball tryouts were 2 weeks away, and I knew I wouldn't be able to tryout. I tried healing my ankle the fastest way possible, but the process was

Saturday Value Play Analysis
Eight games are are back in action this Saturday in the NBA. Today's slate provides a solid mix of high–scoring totals and key defensive matchups for

Wall is in this midst of one his most productive stretches of this season, having double–doubled in six of the past seven games. The matchup today
against the Knicks is about as good as it gets, with Jose Calderon performing as one of the worst defending point guards in the NBA. New York
ranks in the bottom five in FanDuel points allowed to opposing point guards over the past three weeks. Wall has a great chance to earn his third
straight triple double today at home. Shelvin Mack @ CHI, $6,200: Over the past month, Mack has seen his price tag increase by $2700, and

working in sport was something he wanted to do. Previously a part of the Kinesiology department under the late Joe Marrone, Will jumped on the

explains how this experience "opened his door up". Will states; "once I started at UConn working with the women's basketball program and being

so many aspects of life that school couldn't teach.
First and foremost, I learn how to be a competitor and how to go far beyond myself. As I was growing up, I learned that no matter how good I was at

Leadership to me is not the matter of control, it is the matter of earning respect and helping the system become stronger. I signed up to be the captain of
my high school team because I have been with everyone long enough to know them and for them to know me and I knew how to make our team
better as a whole. Soon after, I was voted to be the captain, I was very pleased with the result, but at the same time, feeling anxious. This was the
first time I was actually in control of something bigger than myself. I figured out that working alone is not the solution to make my team better,
my opinions mattered but could not overshadow everyone else's. The more I worked with them, the more I found out how inconsiderate I was. I
started giving each person a position, each position was responsible for different duty such as strategy, skill drills, athletic development, and
manager. I was stunned because prior to that point, I was totally oblivious to the concept of leadership. We made a huge progress and that was when
I realized the power of team effort. I was uplifted, individualism is not something to be found in a leader, it is of the essence of a leader to put every
piece of a puzzle together to make the perfect picture.
My life, my personality are basketball–made. I look at the journey that I have been through with basketball and I am proud of myself, not only
because of how good at basketball I have become but also because that I have found a place where

I Will Talk About Basketball
Hello today I will talk about Basketball. I will specifically talk about the history of it, current, and the legends of it. I hope by the end of this Basketball
will be your favorite sport as it is mine.
The first subject I will talk about is the history of Basketball. Basketball was created by a man named James Naismith in 1891. James was told to
teach a P.E. class at the YMCA training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was told to come up with a game to entertain the boys being coached
by him, the requirements were that it could be played indoors though due to the fact that is was winter and freezing cold outside. (Basketball in
America: A History par.1) James recalled a game the he and his friends played when they were young. The game was called or so they called it, "duck
on the rock", the idea of the game was to throw a small rock at a larger one in hopes of knocking it off a boulder. He also thought of a time where
he saw rugby players, instead of throwing a ball into a net they would throw it into a trash can. He looked for a box but instead he found a peach
basket so he put it up on a wall and grabbed a soccer ball. (It's cool to think of the fact that maybe if he used a box, today we would be using one too
which would make the game tremendously harder) the main point of the game was to throw the ball into the basket. A cool fun fact was the

took this volunteer–based position very seriously due to the importance of basketball in my life. Growing up, I had always been blessed with coaches

Basketball has been around since 1891 it has seen a lot of improvements and some flaws, but with its flaws basketball is a great sport. The game
has grown from a sport with just a few teams in the northeast to a nationwide sport with thirty NBA teams in almost all states and one in Canada.
Basketball has also grown in paying wise, from the original $2.50 for home games and $1.50 for road game to the now league minimum of
$507,336 for players who have not been in the NBA for ten years to $1,448,490 for those who have been playing for ten years. Basketball also saw

Basketball Shooting – The Art & Science of Shooting a Basketball
Basketball Shooting Is Both Art and Science
Fundamentals of Shooting A Basketball
By Coach Jerry Tarkanian
Shooting a basketball is both an art and a science. Basketball shooting is an art form because it involves finely tuned hand–eye coordination rather than
gross motor skills.
For example, unlike such skills as the defensive stance and pivoting, which are relatively invariable, shooting form is highly individualistic. There is
no one correct way of shooting a basketball, although there are certain elements of basketball shooting form common to all good basketball shooters
that may be identified.

Basketball Shooter's Stance
Triple–Threat Basketball Position
Since basketball shots can be taken from any body position, whether on the floor or in the air, there is no one identifiable "right" stance beyond the
need for balance when setting oneself to take the shot. Because the triple–threat position offers the greatest balance and versatility, let's begin with it.
The triple–threat position refers to a low, balanced stance from which the ballhandler may either shoot, drive, or pass the ball. However, it may seem
incongruous to have the shooter lower his center of gravity prior to taking the shot because he has to get the ball over his defender, two factors make
this move necessary. First, he needs the lowered stance to gather upward momentum for his jump shot; and second, he is more limited in what he can
do with the ball when he is standing upright than when he is in a crouched position.
The triple–threat position is just that, a stance from which the ballhandler may attack the defense in any of three ways.
In addition, integral to any positioning before you take a shot is the action of squaring yourself to the basket, or turning your body so that your
shoulders and torso are facing the basket. In their haste to get a basketball shot away before it is blocked, players sometimes will receive a pass or
catch the ball off the dribble while facing perpendicular

Basketball Nba Star Kevin Durant
" I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow. I just know for sure I'm going to keep playing basketball," NBA star Kevin Durant. It is because of Dr.
James Naismith's invention of basketball, that Kevin Durant is able to play basketball everyday for the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team in the National
Basketball Association. From the first game of basketball ever played, to the Golden State Warriors winning the National Basketball of Association
championship in 2015, the sport has definitely evolved. Basketball is a team sport with interesting history, many rules, and professional
organizations. Dr. James Naismith was a physical education teacher, who is credited for the invention of basketball in 1891. Originally from
Canada, Dr. Naismith was working in Massachusetts at a YMCA training school. He had to come up with a game that would keep students busy
on cold winter days. Dr. Naismith used to play a game when he was kid called "Duck on a Rock," which is the main foundation of his invention,
basketball. Starting with nine players on each team and a soccer ball, the first game of basketball was played on December 21, 1891. Initially, only
passing the ball up the court was allowed, not dribbling. The goal of the game, like it is today, was to try and shoot the ball into the basket which is
attached to a backboard. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game wins. The sport has developed many rules since the first game.

Personal Narrative: My Basketball Team
My basketball team and I were going head to head against Lamar Bruni Middle School for the second time that season. The parents loved to cheer us
on and capture so many pictures of us, they were our cheerleaders all season long. We were 5–0 at the time and losing that game was not an option for
any of my teammates nor the coaches. Unfortunately, I was not able to give it my all in that game due to me twisting my ankle in the third quarter. Back
in my basketball days, I was number eight. The number had no true meaning to me but i became very attached to it and it has been my favorite

Power In Basketball Essay
I have an 18 year–old, male college freshman who was a 3 sports star athlete in high school. He has just completed his off–season work outs. This
athlete is every knowledgeable of how to train in the weight room and on the court as he has been lifting since 8th grade. He has created near perfect
technique over his prior years of doing offseason workouts. Over the course of this athletes training our primary focus will be power. Along with our
focus on power, we will really stress speed, strength, endurance, agility, footwork, and mobility. Our training goals are to increase all these attributes;
some more than others. Basketball is a dynamic sport that uses a lot of multi–joint movements. Basketball is a unilateral and bilateral sport in which
these two movements are both used in the sport. These bilateral and unilateral movements are attached to common movements you make while you

ATP–PC is the most common energy system used in basketball. ATP is short and lasts about 7
–10 seconds. This energy system is used for activities
where you use short bursts of activity at a time such as full court sprints, jumping for a block, diving for a loose ball, or taking a simple shot. This
system requires a recovery time of about 25–30 seconds. The glycolytic energy phase is consistent activity for 15 seconds to 3 minutes. This is when
there is intense constant play such as fast breaks and no stoppage of play such as time outs and fouls. The Oxidative is the third energy system used in
basketball. In this energy system intensity lowers, but these exercises must last lasts 3 minutes or more to be oxidative. This is hit usually when you

Analysis Of Carolyn Gardner, 12 Year Old Beginner...
My subject and person that I chose to perform this movement is Carolyn Gardner, 12–year–old beginner basketball player in the sixth grade. She is on
the junior varsity team and this is her first time playing basketball on a team. This is her first time playing any team sport. Right now she is learning
the basics and having a hard time focusing but that is expected being her first year. The reason I chose Carolyn is because since this is her first time
playing basketball on a team and her first sport, there is no muscle memory developed as of yet. I can analyze her foul shot and movements and see
raw unrehearsed kinetics of her movements.
The methods of data collection I will use to analyze Carolyn's movement skills in the fouls shot are a digital camcorder recording of sagittal plane
of her dominant side, also frontal plane view. I will use Coaches Eye, a video recording application. Three times will be recorded for analysis. I
also will physically record on a chart. My limitations will be the environment because I will have to conduct this analysis outside of a gym, so I will
not have a basketball hoop but I will have a goal for Carolyn to aim for. With this data that I will apply it to what I have researched about gaining and
practicing the best skill for the ultimate performance. Then I will have my subject Carolyn practice and then re analyze her movement's.
The analyzed movement will be the basketball free throw shot. I have found peer reviewed articles on how to

A Short Summary Of Angel's Team
This story starts out in a small town in Missouri, where these little kids; Landyn Ward, Angel Kaipat, T.J. Barker, Nathan Barker, and Ben Watkins.
Everyday these boys would always go to there church and shoot some hoops in the gym. Landyn was this 7'0 skinny kid and was an outstanding
stealer, Angel was this 6'5 kid and his 3 point range is ridiculous and can shoot those 2's from anywhere. T.J. is this 6'8 and a total tank, his dunking
ability is insane! Ben Watkins is 6'4 and his ability to hit those corner shots are incredible! Nathan is 6'1 and he was basically the leader of all these
boys, but he can shoot those 3's and is hot from anywhere from the court.
One day they all gathered at the church like usual but this time it was different, this time they would face each other at a game. So they decided that the
two best player should be the team captain's, witch was Nathan and Angel. On Angel's team contained T.J., And Ben. But Nathan had Landyn on his
team. So they rock, paper, scissors to see who is going first, Angel's team goes first and they are going off we a good start shooting great great and a
pretty average game of defense but on the other team there stealing was not real. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

For most players it's safe to say they want to win the game, and the most elite players want to not only win the game but also set records. For those
that want to win the game, they are high on the expectancy theory, because if they perform at a high level they expect to win the game. Now for the
elite players who want to set records, they are high on the needs theory, because there focus is on setting a record. Even with the players' motivation
being visible, the players still need to be directed into performing in a way to achieve the organizational goal. Each player contributes to the team in
different ways, and their contribution can lead to a dominant team or mediocre one. Coaches use negative and positive reinforcement to direct players
to execute the desired contribution to win the game. Players that display bad habits like ball hogging or turn overs, force coaches to use negative
reinforcement like creating plays that doesn't allow them to hog the ball. IF the behavior starts to cause the team to lose the game coaches can
ultimately punish players by making them sit out the next game. Coaches believe this will relinquish the unwanted behavior. Players that displays
wanted behaviors are rewarded with positive reinforcement like compliments and more in game plays that allow them to have the ball. The most
notable reward depending on the players' motivation would be winning the game. Players

It was my final high school game at Chino Hills with my best friend Lonzo Ball. It was the State Championship against Mater Dei. College scouts
were scattered over the whole stadium! I want to impress the UCLA scout because Lonzo had committed there and i want to play basketball with
my best friend. If i could get scholarship to UCLA it would be amazing. "Chardee this your time to shine let's get out there and do what we do best."
Lonzo told me. "You're right, you better make me look good out there with all of the NCAA scouts watching all of us." I said jokingly to him. Tip off
neared and then Lonzo, I, and the rest of the team got on the court to play Mater Dei. It started off close but i catched fire and i was splashing all of my
three pointers. At the end of the first quarter i had 17 points. I had five three pointers and one monster dunk over Bol Bol (Bol bol is a 7'1 high
schooler). The game was going really well for me and i hoped i could get some more points to impress the scouts. "Welcome back ladies and
gentlemen. The player to watch in this game is Chardee Macdennis, he is on fire, 29 points in the first half, Chardee is 7–9 for behind the arch. The
college scouts are watching him for sure" In the locker room, everyone was giving props to me for doing so good. Suddenly coach Joey came up to
me. "Chardee i heard a UCLA scouts talking, they said if you do good in the 2nd half they are going to offer you a scholarship!" "Thank you for the
heads up, ill my hardest in the 2nd half" i responded The team then proceeded out of the locker room for the 2nd half.
The game had started up again and i was playing good.We were destroying them 68–39. I had 36 points at that point. Towards the end of the game i
saw the UCLA scouts walking down to the court. At the end of the game Mater dei got embarrassed and we beat them 102–61. I had 51 points at the
end of the game. That game was the best i have ever played compared to my other career high i had in any other games. A man with a UCLA hat came
up to me.
"Hey chardee, that performance was one of the best i have ever seen, the UCLA bruins see a lot of potential in you and hope that you will accept a

Why Is Basketball Better Than Soccer
Competition is a vital aspect of a growing, productive life, and many people seek it through the vast array of sports available in society. Basketball and
soccer are two of the most popular sports that share the same basic concepts of shooting and passing. However, their differences create the prominent
distinction between the two competitions, for each sport utilizes different body part during the game, and their regions of popularity greatly differ.
Thousands of youth and puerile adults across the world compete in the games of basketball and soccer, and the building blocks of these two sports
relate on a fundamental level. Coaches train players in passing and shooting which increases the caliber of adeptness and competitiveness. A single
player is unable to carry a team, so each individual masters the ability to pass effectively to teammates. Athletes, whether in soccer or basketball,
analyze open passing lanes and decide which option is best to advance their team down the court or field. To win a game, scoring must happen which
requires players to develop their shooting form, so they can help pull their team to victory. They learn how to dodge, cut, fake, and eventually shoot the
ball at the proper angle to score. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soccer promotes the use of the players' feet while basketball manipulates the competency of the players' hands. In soccer, players dribble, pass, and
shoot the ball using only their feet so they can move the ball from position to position. Referees even give penalties when hands connect with the ball,
yet in stark contrast, basketball bases its ball movement on the players' hands. With quick, firm grips, they rotate the ball's possession between
teammates which later results in a full arm

The Common Technique for Free Throw
Introduction The basketball game played by two teams consisting of five players. In the basketball game, the basketball player tries to outscore their
opponent by passing, handling or dribbling the basketball into position for shooting the ball into their offensive basket. When either of the team player
violated or foul, the fouled player attempts a free–throw of the ball changes (Mood, Masker & Rink, 1991). The free drop is important later in the
game because of the free throws comprise a significantly larger portion of total points made during the final 5 minutes than the first 35 minutes of the
game for both gaining and losing teams (Kozar, 1994). The fouled player required to shoot from the free throw line. The free throw line is 15 feet from
the basket and has ample time to attempt the shot, so that is the easiest shots in basketball. A successful free throw needed a good concentration,
relaxation, but the most important is a good mechanic in the shot. Also, the player does more practice can increase the success percentage in a free
throw. This paper will be concentrating on the common technique of free throw which are including the approach and stance phase, backswing phase,
force producing phase, follow through and projectile motion.

Jump Shot In Basketball
Basketball is one of my favorite sports, and is one of the most watched and played sports all around the world. In basketball a jump shot makes it
easier to score the basketball faster. Jump shots can be a deadly weapon against your opponents, because it comes down to something they cannot stop.
An incorrect jump shot will have more miss shots than made shots, but a correct jump shot will have more made shots than miss shots. Everyone
wants a correct jump shot, but sadly a correct jump shot isn't given to anyone, everyone has to put in hard work and go through the basic fundamentals
to develop a very good jump shot.
The first step to a correct jump shot is study proper positioning on the body when the jump shot is being shot. Take notes and see if the feet, hands,
arms, and body is positioned the correct way.
Next get a basketball and go to a basketball court or basketball gym and prepare to change the jump shot if it the jump shot was incorrect.
Then position the feet in a proper position before shooting. Move the feet no more than shoulder width apart. Take the feet and position them in a
comfortable position that has a good balance. Get the balance of the feet that feels comfortable for shooting, and then point the feet in the direction of
the basketball goal. Lift them off the ground, and make sure they are never flat footed when the ball is caught at any direction. Develop the feet into a
comfortable stance, and never change the stance that is created. Lined the feet

Process Essay: 3 Steps To Shooting A Basketball
Knowing how to shoot a basketball correctly is the most important skill you need to master in order to play the game. If you want to shoot a accurate
ball, the form is the most important to shooting a basketball is because if you conquer the form, you can play the game. Without good form control of
the ball is next to impossible. Their are 3 steps to shooting a basketball the proper way and that is balance, hand position, and eyes on target.
Balance is a important part for shooting a basketball. Having good balance is essential to the setup for the shot. Balance is important because
without good balance, good landing, and good jump shot, their is no telling where the ball will land. Its because without good balance, you will land
differently every time you shoot, and how you jump and land does effect the ball, and how it will land. If the balance isn't good enough it is most
likely the path of the ball will be off.
Hand position is also an important part of shooting a basketball. Hand position is important because this is the one which greatly affects how the
ball will go. This is how you put your hands in a basketball. Position the ball in your shot pocket, you shoot the ball in your shot pocket which is
located on the shooting side of your torso a few inches above your waist. The ball and your shooting eye ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

important part of the game of basketball, when a player has his or her eyes focused on the target, their whole body tends to act the same, and which in
the end helps for accuracy of the ball. If you have your eyes focused and on the target, you have a better chance for the shot to

Point Guard Vs Shooting Guard Essay
I'm comparing and contrasting two basketball positions, point guard and shooting guard. These two positions are alike and different in many ways.
One way I'm focusing on is, what are their responsibilities? The next thing that I'm focusing on is, do these two players work together? The last thing
that I'm focusing on is how tall do you have to be for these two positions?
Some people may think that point and shooting guards do the same thing. Most of the things they do are similar, but there are some differences. One
similarity is that, they both have to control the ball while getting the players to understand the plays. In contrast, one thing that the point guard does that
the shooting guard doesn't is bring the ball down the court. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also have to work with the post. On the other hand, shooting guard kind of has to switch gears because they have to be near the ball, but at the
same time be somewhere that they can shoot. They both have to help so that the ball can get near the basket and so that someone can put it up. While
doing this, the point has to have nice slick passes to get the ball around. When help is being needed they both have to make sure they're there because
their teammates are going to pass it to one of them. It is exciting but it takes skill for these two positions.
There are really tall people that play basketball, but that is not an requirement. You don't have to really have height to play these two positions. In
comparison, the point and shooting guards are usually the shortest ones on the team. People also think that the point guard Is the shortest one on the
team. Good news is they don't have to be! On the other hand, shooting guard is the shortest one on the team. The post are the taller ones that's why they
are there to shoot.
What I learned from researching these two positions are that they can be really fun to be on a basketball team. I also learned that basketball is not
easy and it is a physical sport. Basketball is one of the well known sports and people play it all throughout the country. These similarities and
differences has helped me understand what some positions really

How Did Michael Jordan A Game Changer

activity that would eventually develop into the billion–dollar industry it is today. Basketball started out on the streets of cities like New York and
Chicago. As the sport became more popular, entrepreneurs saw it as a business opportunity and created the NationalBasketball Association on July 6,
1946. In its early days, towering players like Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell dominated professional basketball. Centers were the focal point of
basketball between 1946 and 1966. These players would bully shorter opponents with sheer height. Coaches often made players pass the ball to the
center most of the game. This was a very common style of basketball in the early days. Building the team around its center position player was

Pros And Cons Of High School Basketball Players

  • 1. Pros And Cons Of High School Basketball Players There are many reasons of why high school basketball players should just make the traumatic jump from high school to the pros but they best option is going to college first. When you think of any normal high school athlete, you think of their skill level is not fully developed, maybe they are very lazy and they have no work ethic and the biggest thing is that they are very immature both physically and mentally. In college they develop all of these assets to a level where you can get to the pros. Many high school basketball players have very small range of skill other than the basics such as; catching the ball, being able to dribble, how to shoot and how to play defense. Most of them have a very limited amount of basketball IQ. Basketball ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Personal Narrative: My Last Shot In Basketball Sweat trickled down my face. The fans were shrilling in the stands. My heart was beating at an incredible rate. How can anyone understand the intensity and anxiety I was experiencing? I sped down the court as the clock was near to its end. As I shot the basketball, the fans silenced, and the buzzer released its alarm. My whole world was a blur. "Move it! Come on! Do you want to become a failure? Hustle!" barked my high school basketball coach, Tony Jackson. We were practicing a lay–up drill as quickly as possible. I saw as my teammates nervously dribbled down the lane to shoot a lay–up. Most players succeeded, but sometimes the shot was only to fail. Scotty, my best friend, passed the ball to me after shooting his lay–up. Dribbling the ball down the lane, I was wondering "I can't miss the easiest shot in basketball." I leaped a couple feet away from the basket and shot the ball. The basketball bounced off the backboard. And sank through the hoop. "The backboard is my friend," I stated to myself. I trotted to the back of the line as I high–fived Scotty. My team beat every team we played in the tournament, and we made it to the semi–finals. In the semi–finals, our team played the Watson Wizards. The team was descent, but we knew we could beat them. The first half of the game was close. My team was winning a little at the third quarter, but the Wizards just could not shoot the ball in the fourth quarter. The victory claimed to be a score of 68 to 53 with my team winning. Just thinking about being in the finals was a thrill until we saw that we were going to play the Hill Valley ... • 3. Basketball and Soccer America is a country that loves sports. Two of America's most popular sports are basketball and soccer. Many children participate in the sports every year. Similarities are abundant between the two. Both sports require team work. Also the main purpose of both is to put a ball into a netted goal. However, there are some very important key differences. Soccer is played on a field that is much larger and there is a goalie that constantly defends the goal. While basketball is played on a smaller hardwood court with fewer players active at once. Furthermore, soccer is low scoring and more strategic when compared to basketball, which has final scores in the hundreds. All in all, many similarities there are huge differences between ... • 4. Personal Narrative: Middle School Basketball When I was younger, basketball was all I wanted to play, it just looked like so much fun. In fifth grade I had my parents sign me up for CYB, then in sixth grade I tried out for middle school basketball and played all the way up until ninth grade. In middle school when I was in eighth grade I was awarded the captain position and that helped me build leadership and responsibility. All of the players especially the younger ones knew they could always come to me at any time if they needed anything or help with anything. High school basketball was a lot different than middle school. In middle school I was one of the star players so I played a lot but in high school that changed. • 5. Basketball Is The Most Popular And Beloved Sports Essay Professional Basketball Basketball is one of the most popular and beloved sports that is played today. Michael Jordan who played for the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls once said, "Just play, have fun, and enjoy the game" (BrainyQuote 2016). Whether playing with friends for fun or by professionals for entertainment or simply watching from home, basketball is a sport that is enjoyed all over the world. Beginning with a unique history, basketball has evolved over time from a simple idea into a professional career choice for those with the unique skill set. During the winter of 1892 in a town in Massachusetts a physical education teacher, Dr. James Naismith, at a YMCA school created a game where young men could play indoors instead of going outside in the freezing cold. To get prepared for the game, Dr. Naismith came up with some rules for the game, gathered two peach baskets for hoops and a soccer ball and he coached the first basketball game in history. Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four out of the thirteen rules that he came up with no longer are followed in today 's version of basketball, the nine that are left were slightly modified and are still in use today. The original thirteen rules are as follows: The ball can be thrown with both hands in any direction. The player can not run with the ball, so they have to throw it where they caught it from. The ball can be batted in any direction not with the fist but with both hands. You have to hold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Basketball In The 1930's Basketball was first introduced in the late 1800's. As the game evolved so did the developments of the game as well. Some of the things that were developing were the rules of the game. These rules included the basic rules that we see today such as traveling, double dribble, personal fouls and technical fouls. Other things that were developing were players learning how to dribble and how to shoot. Although there was no proper way to figure out a way to score a basket, players sought fit the best way the best way they knew at the time. As time passed players of the sport often studied each other. Those who were successful at scoring the basketball were studied more than others. Layups were common in the early 1930's because the physics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It embodies the basic biomechanics principles that most players go through when they are shooting a jump shot. Each player's could be evaluated differently. This was simply a summary of a natural jump shooter. Biomechanics can be used to assess a player's ability to shoot accurately and consistently. This analysis did not focus on what a correct shooting form is. It spoke about the three phases of jump shot, which were the preparation, the execution and the follow through phases. It also stated how each of these phases directly relates the biomechanical principle that goes into a jump shot. The jump shot has been around in the game of basketball for many years. As the game grows year by year, I'm sure that it will be analyzed more and more. Different players produce different results. Therefore it will increase the need for analysts to study the jump shot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Basketball Personal Narrative Basketball my 6th grade year was rough. It was my very first year ever playing sports. Since I went to a small elementary school everyone made the team and I was the only 6th grade student that joined I was so nervous the first practice my hands were shaking way faster than I could run. The rest of the girls were eighth graders that had a ball thrown at them the second the exited the womb; let me just tell you that season sucked. Even though I cried after every game because I wasn't good enough and in practice always crossed the finish line last I still somehow loved the game. It wasn't the only game I loved though; I also loved soccer. After I kept the benches warm 6th grade year I decided I was going to work hard. I started running a mile at least once a week. Which turned into two miles after I filled a few buckets of sweat after a couple weeks. I had convinced my uncle to let me be a substitute on his indoor soccer team since I already missed tryouts. I loved indoor soccer so much and that's when I began to really start improving. I scored my first goal that season with five others after. I loved the feeling of putting in every drop of work I could into a game that I truly loved. Travel soccer didn't only make me better at sports but I improved as a person. • 8. The Problem Of West Mendham In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to "look the other way" in order to fulfil one's own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by shortterm gains and thus fail to see the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains. Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction. However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional ... Even the most experienced guards need to practice important drills that improve their skills. Here are [] excellent drills for guards to ehance the skills they need to help their team win. Court Vision Ever player on the basketball court benefits from improving their court vision. None more so than a guard though. Being able to instantly locate open teammates, or avoid situations where the defense is ready to cut off a passing lane, are critical. Practicing repetitive drills that improve court vision are the first tip to becoming a better all–around basketball player. Ball Handling Skills By design, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having the skill to dribble a basketball with expert control is essential. Guards must be able to dribble and advance the ball by beating their defender, all the while keeping their eyes on the court. This skill takes years of practice. However, practicing crossovers, dribbling with both hands, speed dribbling and gaining confidence in ball control are honed by hours of repetitive ball–handling drills. Defense Wins Basketball Games The lost art of playing defense is witnessed on many basketball courts. While the guards need to have court vision and ball–handling skills, they also must defend. If the other guards cannot successfully ignite fast breaks or run their own offense, it makes it hard for the opposition to score. All players need to improve their defense skills, but the guard position is the most exposed. They are most often trying to guard their opponent in the open court. Foot speed is important and can only be developed by practicing repetitive drills such as sprints.

Basketball shooting form has changed many times over the years, and all of the great shooters today spend hours on end perfecting the process that they go through every time they take a shot. The process of shooting a basketball is very important. The first, most important, step when shooting a basketball is the alignment of your feet. Your feet, if you are a right handed shooter, should be slightly turned and pointed toward the left side of the basket. She told me to stop playing basketball for the next 3 months and also cut my gym membership. It was one of the worst nights of my life. Basketball tryouts were 2 weeks away, and I knew I wouldn't be able to tryout. I tried healing my ankle the fastest way possible, but the process was still too slow. • 14. Saturday Value Play Analysis Eight games are are back in action this Saturday in the NBA. Today's slate provides a solid mix of high–scoring totals and key defensive matchups for us to target and exploit in our DFS lineups. Let's take a look at today's value plays. Saturday Value Plays Point Guard John Wall vs NYK, $9,900: Wall is in this midst of one his most productive stretches of this season, having double–doubled in six of the past seven games. The New Jersey native began his undergraduate experience with two Division–I parents, and like an abundance of people he knew that working in sport was something he wanted to do. Previously a part of the Kinesiology department under the late Joe Marrone, Will jumped on the opportunity posted through an email and started his freshman year as a basketball manager for the very successful UConn's basketball program. He explains how this experience "opened his door up". Will states; "once I started at UConn working with the women's basketball program and being around collegiate athletics at such a high level it's really something in itself, and unbelievable experience. I knew it was for me, I didn't know which part for sure, but I knew this was something I wanted to do." Yes, you are right, I love basketball, I love it so much that if it could have a life, it would know me better than I would because it has taught me so many aspects of life that school couldn't teach. First and foremost, I learn how to be a competitor and how to go far beyond myself. As I was growing up, I learned that no matter how good I was at my position, there would always be a player that has more knowledge, more physical and more skillful than I was. Soon after, I was voted to be the captain, I was very pleased with the result, but at the same time, feeling anxious. This was the first time I was actually in control of something bigger than myself. I figured out that working alone is not the solution to make my team better, my opinions mattered but could not overshadow everyone else's. The more I worked with them, the more I found out how inconsiderate I was. I started giving each person a position, each position was responsible for different duty such as strategy, skill drills, athletic development, and manager. I was stunned because prior to that point, I was totally oblivious to the concept of leadership. We made a huge progress and that was when I realized the power of team effort. I hope by the end of this Basketball will be your favorite sport as it is mine. The first subject I will talk about is the history of Basketball. Basketball was created by a man named James Naismith in 1891. James was told to teach a P.E. class at the YMCA training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was told to come up with a game to entertain the boys being coached by him, the requirements were that it could be played indoors though due to the fact that is was winter and freezing cold outside. (Basketball in America: A History par.1) James recalled a game the he and his friends played when they were young. The game was called or so they called it, "duck on the rock", the idea of the game was to throw a small rock at a larger one in hopes of knocking it off a boulder. He also thought of a time where he saw rugby players, instead of throwing a ball into a net they would throw it into a trash can. He looked for a box but instead he found a peach basket so he put it up on a wall and grabbed a soccer ball. (It's cool to think of the fact that maybe if he used a box, today we would be using one too which would make the game tremendously harder) the main point of the game was to throw the ball into the basket. A cool fun fact was the according to "Alexander Wolff, in his book 100 Years of Hoops, Naismith drew up the rules for the new game in "about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basketball Shooter's Stance Triple–Threat Basketball Position Since basketball shots can be taken from any body position, whether on the floor or in the air, there is no one identifiable "right" stance beyond the need for balance when setting oneself to take the shot. Because the triple–threat position offers the greatest balance and versatility, let's begin with it. The triple–threat position refers to a low, balanced stance from which the ballhandler may either shoot, drive, or pass the ball. However, it may seem incongruous to have the shooter lower his center of gravity prior to taking the shot because he has to get the ball over his defender, two factors make this move necessary. First, he needs the lowered stance to gather upward momentum for his jump shot; and second, he is more limited in what he can do with the ball when he is standing upright than when he is in a crouched position. The triple–threat position is just that, a stance from which the ballhandler may attack the defense in any of three ways. In addition, integral to any positioning before you take a shot is the action of squaring yourself to the basket, or turning your body so that your shoulders and torso are facing the basket. In their haste to get a basketball shot away before it is blocked, players sometimes will receive a pass or catch the ball off the dribble while facing perpendicular ... Basketball and soccer are two of the most popular sports that share the same basic concepts of shooting and passing. Thousands of youth and puerile adults across the world compete in the games of basketball and soccer, and the building blocks of these two sports relate on a fundamental level. Coaches train players in passing and shooting which increases the caliber of adeptness and competitiveness. A single player is unable to carry a team, so each individual masters the ability to pass effectively to teammates. Athletes, whether in soccer or basketball, analyze open passing lanes and decide which option is best to advance their team down the court or field. • 34. The Common Technique for Free Throw Introduction The basketball game played by two teams consisting of five players. In the basketball game, the basketball player tries to outscore their opponent by passing, handling or dribbling the basketball into position for shooting the ball into their offensive basket. When either of the team player violated or foul, the fouled player attempts a free–throw of the ball changes (Mood, Masker & Rink, 1991). The free drop is important later in the game because of the free throws comprise a significantly larger portion of total points made during the final 5 minutes than the first 35 minutes of the game for both gaining and losing teams (Kozar, 1994). The fouled player required to shoot from the free throw line. The free throw line is 15 feet from the basket and has ample time to attempt the shot, so that is the easiest shots in basketball. A successful free throw needed a good concentration, relaxation, but the most important is a good mechanic in the shot. In basketball a jump shot makes it easier to score the basketball faster. Jump shots can be a deadly weapon against your opponents, because it comes down to something they cannot stop. An incorrect jump shot will have more miss shots than made shots, but a correct jump shot will have more made shots than miss shots. Everyone wants a correct jump shot, but sadly a correct jump shot isn't given to anyone, everyone has to put in hard work and go through the basic fundamentals to develop a very good jump shot. The first step to a correct jump shot is study proper positioning on the body when the jump shot is being shot. Take notes and see if the feet, hands, arms, and body is positioned the correct way. Next get a basketball and go to a basketball court or basketball gym and prepare to change the jump shot if it the jump shot was incorrect. Then position the feet in a proper position before shooting. Move the feet no more than shoulder width apart. Take the feet and position them in a comfortable position that has a good balance. Get the balance of the feet that feels comfortable for shooting, and then point the feet in the direction of the basketball goal. Lift them off the ground, and make sure they are never flat footed when the ball is caught at any direction. Develop the feet into a comfortable stance, and never change the stance that is created. • 37. Point Guard Vs Shooting Guard Essay I'm comparing and contrasting two basketball positions, point guard and shooting guard. These two positions are alike and different in many ways. One way I'm focusing on is, what are their responsibilities? The next thing that I'm focusing on is, do these two players work together? The last thing that I'm focusing on is how tall do you have to be for these two positions? Some people may think that point and shooting guards do the same thing. Most of the things they do are similar, but there are some differences. One similarity is that, they both have to control the ball while getting the players to understand the plays. In contrast, one thing that the point guard does that the shooting guard doesn't is bring the ball down the court. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also have to work with the post. On the other hand, shooting guard kind of has to switch gears because they have to be near the ball, but at the same time be somewhere that they can shoot. They both have to help so that the ball can get near the basket and so that someone can put it up. While doing this, the point has to have nice slick passes to get the ball around. When help is being needed they both have to make sure they're there because their teammates are going to pass it to one of them. It is exciting but it takes skill for these two positions. There are really tall people that play basketball, but that is not an requirement. You don't have to really have height to play these two positions. In comparison, the point and shooting guards are usually the shortest ones on the team. People also think that the point guard Is the shortest one on the team. Good news is they don't have to be! We're all defined in unique ways, some by their jobs, some by their livelihood, or interests such as basketball. This is one of my favorite things to do in life, there's just nothing better than setting foot on that court. When basketball season starts to roll around, memories from past years come flooding in. Being able to smell the freshly popped popcorn all throughout the gym. Looking up at the crowd and seeing everyone in the stands cheering us on, arguing with refs about a call, or not really paying attention to the game at all.
