Continuing Education Conferences Essay
How valuable have the last few pharmacy continuing education conferences been to your practice?
Those of us who have been attending such conferences for decades understand that some are
interesting. Others are not. A cramped room and uninspiring speaker can make you feel like you
wasted your money, not to mention your time. That said, I have found over the years that I can do
things to help make sure I get the most from these events.
The first piece of advice I have for my fellow pharmacists is to attend such conferences. Go ahead.
Don't dodge them. Sure, webinar technology can get us "live" credits without leaving the comfort of
home. There is something to be said for that. Your particular job or life can make attendance
difficult. But all things being equal, attending conferences gives a different level of experience. It is
the difference between listening to the radio and attending a concert. Both convey the same ... Show

I'm an introvert by nature. And although we are quieter and prefer a little isolation, we can still
benefit greatly from the social atmosphere of a live pharmacy CE.
Second, make a wise choice. At the moment I'm preparing to head off to the New England
Pharmacist's Convention. This is one I don't miss. I pick it because the venue is comfortable, the
location is accessible (this year at Foxwood's Resort Casino), the price is reasonable and the topics
are diverse enough to keep my interest. There are generally many such conferences going on each
year. But pick one based on your interests, the speakers and the value it will have to your career...not
by the price and location.
You may want to focus all your education one year on a specific topic. In that case, you might
coordinate your written CE material with some relevant live CE events. Approaching your
conferences this way allows you to take charge of your own

Continuing Education Courses
Education is something that never depreciates. It is one of the most valuable aspects of one's life and
career. To be successful at something you need to be a master of what you do. The easiest way to
ensure this is by continuing your education. No one knows everything, but the more you know about
your profession, product, and clients, the better off you are. Many professions require a certain type
of continuing education courses to be completed every 1–2 years. For instance, insurance agents
must complete continuing education courses either online or in a classroom every two years by their
compliance deadline. Other industries do not have a specific requirement, but many individuals take
courses online to stay current with trends, rules and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most offer both online and classroom courses. Many adult students choose online courses because
they are flexible and easier to complete than attending an actual campus. For someone who is not
working full time classroom courses may fit their needs. Some students prefer an instructor teaching
the classes as opposed to participating in discussion board postings online.
One of the most important reasons professionals' complete continuing education classes are for
employment reasons. Typically, the more education one has the better. Someone with a master's
degree will have an edge over someone with a bachelor's degree when competing for the same job;
everything else being constant. So when an individual is looking to gain employment or move up in
a corporation education is one of the first things taken into consideration. Many view education as
an investment. The more you invest in yourself, the more it will pay off in the future. No one can
ever take your education or degree away from you.
In summary, whether taking classes online or in a classroom education is extremely important to
everyone. It doesn't matter your job title or profession. The more knowledge you have, the bigger an
asset you are to your boss, your company and yourself. So whether your company or industry
requires continuing education or not, it is recommended to take classes every year or so to stay up to
date on current trends. Also, make sure to check with your employer about tuition reimbursement.
Many companies will help pay for their employees to go back to school! That's how important
education is to

My Education : Continuing My Educational Experience
Continuing My Educational Experience
A college education exposes a person to new experiences and gives them ideas that improve their
intelligences and make them a better learner. Gaining knowledge from professors who have
experience in the field of my interest is what really excites me about college and has motivated me
to join the Manor Early College High School program. In my case, I believe that rather than getting
a job or joining the military college is my next step in life. I know that this choice will be extremely
rewarding for my future because earning a degree will increase my chances of having a successful
career. Obviously, having a stable career with a good income is extremely important considering that

College, to me, is not only a place to learn, but it is a place to prove my self–worth. My mother and
father had to sacrifice their education in order to provide for their unexpected child at the age of 18.
They both, just as I do, had visions of themselves in the future that involved a higher level of
education. My goal is to prove that their mistake as young adults can now be repaired through my
life and seen as a blessing. Deciding to step up to the plate and do everything possible to get into
college is something I consider as one of the most important decisions in my life so far. If I had not
applied for college, I would have felt as if everything my parents gave up for me to have
opportunities such as this in life had no purpose.
Deciding on what major area of study I wanted to focus on basically translated in my head to
choosing what I wanted to do everyday for the rest of my life. In my opinion, this choice was so
difficult to make because it felt like I was eliminating the opportunity to become knowledgeable in a
wide range of subject matters. I soon realized that having a major area of study in no way limits my
ability to study and discover things outside of that area. After lots of time and consideration, I have
decided that I would like to major in forensic psychology because it is an area where both the justice
system and psychology

3. Identify the prerequisites
By learning what you need to know before enrolling you will be able to avoid any frustrations
caused by incapability of keeping up with the rest. Sometimes these may be simple things, and you
can compensate by taking a basic class before enrolling for the advanced one. The prerequisites are
normally listed along with the class description and will indicate what other classes should be taken
first. Further it may list skills you should already have before enrolling.
4. Determine the cost of everything
Although most classes require a simple textbook, they are getting more expensive and not all
students can afford them. Depending on the subject matter of your class, your books can cost
upwards of $100 each, particularly in technology, accounting and nursing. Further, depending on the
type of your class, you may need additional equipment, like a PC or other electrical equipment. It is
inevitable that you will spend additional money on these accessories, so you need to take them in
account when determining your total schooling cost.
5. Determine the instructors availability
Even though most instructors will list their contact details on their first class, you can find out about
their response time by contacting them prior to enlisting. Moreover, you should learn about their
availability once the classes start – will you be able to contact them easily, can they answer your
questions and such.

Continuing Medical Education Research Paper
Is your doctor practicing medicine on you with 10–year–old care tactics? How long has it been since
your doctor learned how to treat asthma or anxiety?
These are questions the average U.S. citizen wouldn't worry about when walking into their doctor's
office–they'd be more worried about getting rid of their symptoms.
Yet, your doctor's medical education is an important thing to consider when choosing a primary care
physician. It is also one of the new quality initiatives that insurance companies and health care
facilities now watch for.

Loath as I am to suggest more government intervention (just joking, I plan to vote for Bernie),
perhaps a change is in order. How is Montana getting away with letting doctors practice outdated
treatments on patients?
New York and mandatory education
This question is currently being tackled in New York, another state with no mandatory CME
requirements, as the New York State Assembly considers a mandatory opioid CME that would
require three hours of CME every two years for providers who prescribe pain medication .
The basic argument from doctors is that CMEs are an additional burden on doctors and decreases
the time they could be spending on specialty–specific education.
However, the American Medical Association (AMA), a special interest group famous for its

Ethics In Continuing Education
I selected the introduction to ethics as it is a requirement prior to applying to the nursing program.
Even if it were not a requirement, this class I feel should be the foundation of continuing education
no matter your major or area of study. For many years I worked for a large insurance company,
almost daily my morality was tested. Customers asked me often if claims could be documented to
make it appear as though they were not at fault for an accident they did indeed cause. They hoped by
documenting the claim in such a way it would keep their rates down, and money in their pockets.
While it would have been much easier for me and my client to document the claim as fault free,
ethically it was wrong. It would have done more harm than good and

Continuing Education As Nurses
Continuing Education as Nurses
Introduction
The definition of education is, "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially
at a school or university" (Merriam–Webster, 2015). Education in general is important. In nursing it
is especially important because the medical field is constantly changing. In order to keep up with
these constant changes, continuing education becomes the number one way to learn the new
changes. There are many opinions regarding why education should or should not continue. In
addition, continuing education may have barriers and benefits for some.
Discussion
Continuing education is important in so many ways (Arungwa, O. T., 2014). Nursing is always

education increased knowledge, skills, professional growth (increase in salary), and better patient
outcomes (Nalle, M., Wyatt, T., & Myers, C., 2010). Barriers within the Arungwa study included:
(a) scheduling time off from work to attend classes; (b) financial burden to pay for additional
training; and (c) time management between family, work, and school (Arungwa, O. T., 2014). In the

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR RECREATION AND SPORTS MINISTERS Stych
identified four types of learners with respect to vibrant lifelong learning for ministers: Laggards
firmly resist innovation. They tend to be creatures of habit, outdated in their skills and approaches to
ministry. Occasionally, their archaic approaches may even present safety hazards to participants
physically and/or emotionally. They do not value continuing education and usually only participate

Formal continuing education may range from taking individual courses to seeking additional
undergraduate or graduate degrees. Seminary education is highly valued for some recreation and
sports ministers, especially those called to serve in traditional local churches. Informal continuing
education experiences are an alternative to formal academic course work. Traditionally, informal
continuing education includes attending seminars and conferences, personal reading, and
networking.33 Ministers should seek informal learning experiences within their denominations,
from other denominations, and from secular sources for maximum effectiveness. Learning outside
the recreation and sports realm in areas such as technology, science, or vocational pursuits may also
enhance one's ministry.34 Brown suggests four emerging approaches to informal continuing
education that may be implemented by recreation and sports ministers.35 First is the use of
technology and the educational objects technology offers. For example, the Internet is a tremendous
tool for locating recreational equipment suppliers and related information. Descriptions of games are

Legislation regarding continuing medical education for health care professionals remains on the
minds of many. Although this hasn't been a hot topic recently, as world events and political
campaigns have taken precedence, those in the industry wish to know where past legislation stands
and what the future may hold. When it comes to obtaining continuing medical education credits,
however, one thing is certain. Doing so has never been easier, thanks to free CNE courses available
online. When choosing courses, Individuals need to know what to look for to ensure the credits will
meet the requirements for their state and/or organization. Following are some areas where
legislation has been introduced concerning continuing medical education and how it may impact
health care in the future. Nutrition In 2014, the Education and Training for Health Act was
introduced in the House of Representatives. The bill would require primacy care health
professionals working for the federal government to take a minimum of six hours of continuing
medical education in the area of nutrition, with the goal being to focus on nutrition and its role in
disease prevention. As a large number of chronic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, continuing medical education courses, such as free CNE activities, must recognize
the need for comprehensive training in this area and find a way to deliver the information in a timely
manner. In addition, nurses and nurse practitioners often work with patients to manage chronic
diseases, visiting with these patients to provide training on how to treat the disease at home, as this
helps to improve the quality of care. The need for continuing education for nurses continues to rise,
as the health care profession sees a shortage in certain specialties. Nurses will be asked to fill more

Nurse Continuing Education Hours
Most people that attend college put their time in and at the end of their two or four years receive
their degree, get a job, and think that I that they are finally done with school. When a nursing
student finishes their degree and passes the NCLEX and gets their first nursing job that is when the
real learning takes effect. Each and every day in the medical field things are constantly changing and
getting updated. In order for the nurse to provide the best care to the patients, that the nurse keep up
with continuing education. According to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency website (n.d.),
nurses are not mandated to have continuing education hours for regular licensure renewal. A nurse
would be required to prove continuing education hours only if the nurse's license has been expired
for more than three years; if it has been ten years or less the nurse would be responsible to provide
proof of completing twenty–four contact hours. The twenty–four hours are broken down into six
hours in each of the following categories: assessment, documentation, pharmacology, and

Problem–based learning (PBL), is "the using of real–world patient problems as the educational
context for teaching medical students basic and clinical sciences, as well as clinical reasoning and
problem–solving processes". This week's reading revealed varied positive effects of the PBL on
academic performance, clinical performance, and levels of satisfaction in learning.
Problem based learning is used in many medical schools is found to have several advantages,
including promotes deeper learning, self–directed, learner centered, improves team working skills,
and facilitates lifelong learning, on the other hand, the PBL approach has a number of
disadvantages, such as individual learning needs may over–ridden by group learning needs, and this
approach may not suit the learning styles of some students.
Application
As a student, I found peer teaching is enjoyable for students and peer teachers. Allowing a students
to take turns between being the teacher and the learner, will achieve benefit from explaining their
own personal understanding of the material to another, and from hearing the same material from the
others' understanding or viewpoint. In this model, students spend time summarizing information,
assessing the work or ideas of a peer, and explaining rationales. All of these meaningful activities

The Florida Paralegal Program Act
The Florida Paralegal Program was created in 2007, in order to regulate the paralegal profession in
the state of the Florida. This program offers them a voluntary registration in this distingue
organization, under the compromise to meet certain requirements such as education, certification, or
work experience criteria, and also abide by a Code of Ethics and Responsibilities, all these based on
the Chapter 20 of the Rules regulating the Florida Bar. Subsequently, these rules establish that a
Florida Registered Paralegal is a paralegal who meets the requirements set out in Chapter 20 of the
Rules regulating the Florida Bar. These rules designate that a paralegal is a person with education,
training or work experience, who works under the direction of a member of The Florida Bar and
who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a member of The Florida Bar
is responsible. However, there are certain differences, as well as pros and cons, between paralegals
that are not registered under this rule and those who are, specifically on the following main points:
work experience, education, and requirements to qualify.
The first point in discussion is relative to work experience. Due to the fact that nowadays,
grandfathering does not count anymore as available in order to register as a FRP, a person may no
longer use experience alone as a basis for eligibility for registration: (c) Grandfathering. A person
who does not meet the requirements of (a) or (b) may

My Goal Of Continuing My Education
There are several reasons factors that have contributed to my goal of continuing my education. One
of which is, I became a mom at the age of 19 and had no clue of what to do. I just graduated high
school and was working full time. I had a great support system when it came to my family. Life was
such a disaster at this point and I had no idea what to do. I thought about heading back to school but
never could find a school that could accommodate my schedule. I called Colorado Christian

Education, then came Criminal Justice and lastly was Phycology.

The usage of continuing education for EMS professionals can be viewed as an advantaged or
disadvantage when maintained by their EMS organization. The view of the employees that
participate in these educational sessions will also weigh heavily on the success of the program, and
whether it is considered advantageous or not. For example, quality assurance should be a component
to what continuing education courses may be offered. If providers are misdiagnosing specific
conditions, or missing common skill sets such as IVs or intubations, common sense would dictate
continuing education course to review the skills or to review the signs and symptoms of the specific

Continuing education is important for health professionals and is required by AHPRAH (AHPRAH,

The Importance Of Dual Professionalism
Avis et al (2010) state that historically, only occupations such as Doctors, Solicitors, the Clergy and
Bank Managers were worthy of the title of being called a "Professional". However they go on to say
that this has changed over time to the point whereby much more diverse groups are describing
themselves within the category of being professional to the point that the term becomes
meaningless. That said, they do agree that a professional should hold a set of specific skills and
knowledge that are gained through a certain amount of training and "should be used for the benefit
of society". Teachers, lecturers and trainers clearly fit within this remit. Scales (2008) lists
professionalism as one of the traits of an effective teacher. He goes on the say that professionalism is

education and training, teaching alone is not merely enough. To be seen as being knowledgeable
within a specialist area is also needed to be able to teach that subject and therefore teachers in this
area of education are seen as dual professionals. The Institute for Learning (IFL) (2012) considers

How Professionalism Is Important For Patient Care
Professionalism in nursing is a key component to have. The nurse that exhibits professionalism can
go far in a career. As nurses identify strengths and weaknesses, careers can change for the better.
The strengths that I see in myself are optimism, good listener, and quick learner. When I think about
who I am as a nurse, I don't focus on tasks and to do lists. Although skills are important for patient
care, there are psychosocial aspects that should be addressed. Optimism can mean the difference in a
patient's outlook. The first example is when I walked onto the unit one day; a family member
approached me and told me that it was nice to see a smiling face. That meant a lot to me. Patients
and their families both experience hardships and emotional changes when someone is sick or hurt.
Leading me to the next example, being optimistic when my patients fear that they may not return to
their former state of independence and acknowledging their concerns. Many patients have these
valid fears, and being the positive outlook instead of agreeing with them sometimes helps get them
to the finish line. The second strength, being a good listener, is extremely important for similar
reasons. Patients have fears that are valid, they have stress that is affecting them, and they have
families that are concerned for their well–being. Sometimes all someone needs is a listening ear to
validate those feelings. There was a time when I had an emotional patient who was upset that his
wife had to

Continuing Education Course Summary
This continuing education course is a response to the January 9, 2015 report in the Journal of
Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) about risks for emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Bryan
Fass, ATC, LAT, CSCS, EMT–P (ret.) asked readers to remember all the brand–new EMTs they
have observed firsthand. Most of those freshman EMTs were fit, healthy, and happy...for the first
14–16 months on the job. Despite thousands of dollars in training, they were put on the street with
NO education about ergonomics, nutrition, fatigue management, or self–care. Within months they
were burned out, stressed out, nutritionally compromised, overweight, and sleep–deprived. The
report concludes that with good nutrition and fitness as a priority, "the negative effects

Continuing Education: The Definition Of Adult Education
PART 1–ESSAYS ADULT EDUCATION What is the definition of "adult education"? Well, a lot of
adults are returning to the classroom (such as myself) that the term "adult education" has become
somewhat perplexing. Adult education in the broad sense is any form of learning adults engage in
beyond traditional schooling. In the slightest sense, adult education is about reading ability and
learning to read the most basic materials. So adult education incorporates everything from basic
learning to personal fulfillment as an all–time learner. Subsequently "adult education" is a wide–
ranging word to define; therefore let's look at it in the aspects of learning approach, in general,
continuing education in college, and beyond literacy in the workplace. First, learning approaches for
an adult education is different from childhood education learning approaches. As an adult, the
approach is more practical. Adults have different needs as students, and these needs should be taken
into thought when planning training for adults. Adult mindset is set and ready to be trained. It
doesn't take a lot of work to prepare adults to learn. Their mindset is no longer as it was during
childhood; where it is not focused and ready to learn, but to play. Then the teacher has to incorporate
many activities to help bring their wandering minds into the training world. Furthermore, adult
continuing education, for example, is a bit of what I'm currently doing since I went back to attend
college to finish

Continuing Education In High School
Every year thousands of Texas students from less privileged neighborhoods graduate high school
without a clue on what the next step in their life should be. For most graduates, college seems like
the most viable option. Unfortunately, the idea of spending money on classes without a career goal
in mind is a difficult step to take, especially for students from a low–income household, and those
who have earned minimal scholarship opportunities. Most students ultimately decide to enter the
work force after graduation. This usually entails a high school graduate mindlessly applying for job
after job until one is found that satisfies his or her current financial needs, but may not necessarily
be a desirable position. A contributing factor on why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, that thought process does not apply for everyone living in less privileged
communities. Not every student is suited to go to college, whether due to financial or educational
concerns, and quite frankly, not every student necessarily wants to go to college. That leaves post
graduates the choice of entering the workforce with only a high school diploma in hand, lessening
their career options significantly. According to Georgetown University's Center on Education and
workforce, "by 2020, nearly two–thirds of all jobs will require some sort of postsecondary education
or training beyond a high school diploma (Bidwell n.p.). A high school program that offers
accredited trade and vocational classes allows

The Importance Of Continuing Education For A Nurse
As a brand new nurse coming out of nursing school, you may be thinking that you have completed
your education and that you are ready to start practicing as a Registered Nurse. As a new
professional this is partially correct, but you still have many years of continuing education. There
are two different aspects of continuing education for a nurse: advanced educational programs or
specific continuing education courses. Throughout this discussion I will be focusing on the
importance of continuing education for nurses. The American Nurses Association defines continuing
education (CE) as "learning activities designed to augment the knowledge, skill and attitudes of
nurses and therefore enrich the nurses' contributions to quality healthcare" (as cited in Schaeffer,
2015, p. 13). Continuing education courses are not only important for the individual nurses
competences and professionalism, but it is also important in regards to the care delivered to patients
and the patient outcomes. Throughout this discussion I will explain the importance of CE, how it is
beneficial to the nurse, and how it effects the patients we are giving care to. As for any other
profession, CE is a professional responsibility to all nurses as well. Although there are states in the
United States that do not require CE in order to renew their license every two years, it is still an
obligation every nurse should meet to fulfill their personal competences and knowledge. The ANA

Continuing Education
In order to be successful in my education one of the most helpful things to understand is what
learning style I possess. I believe it is also important for me to set goals, be aware of my learning
style and utilize all of my educational resources and support systems. Learning the material in a way
that I can apply it in real life is also key to considering myself educated.
My writing style is doing or active experimentation. Active Experimentation is defined as; indicates

Applying the material to real life is also vital to my success not only during, but after school.
Without the ability to use my critical thinking to apply theories to real life, I will not be able to
effectively teach children.
While using information other people have already gathered is very useful when researching and
learning about new things, I believe it is important to do so in an honest way. Whenever I use
somebody else's work, I am always careful to give them the credit they deserve. My ethical lens is
the relationship and reputation lens. This is defined as follows; you balance your reasoning skills
(rationality) and your intuition (sensibility) to determine what processes, systems, character traits
and virtues will best serve the community by assuring fairness and justice for all (equality). This
ethical lens can greatly affect my decision making because I feel the need to put others feelings
above my own. A double edged sword really because it is very hard to make every person involved
in a situation happy all at the same time. I usually always end up not considering how the

Seven Disciplines", dated: Spring 2009 from Review of Higher Education sought to differentiate the
definition of success at the doctoral level. Gardner expressed her concerns that the environment
encompassing a doctoral education there were inherently contrasting opinions on the definition of
success. Consequently, they provided a general understanding of what constitutes success and then
expanded their research to include the influences that would impact a doctoral student's pathway

Amy E. Hatmaker and Deneen M. Hatmaker authored: "Knowing, Doing, and Becoming:
Professional Identity Construction Among Public Affairs Doctoral Students", originating in the

that enhance the students ability to establish an identity, and they examined the students own
willingness to achieve that goal.

CEU Cultural Competency Continuing Education
Have you ever thought about how much Cultural diversity affects our everyday life? I guess you
could say the real question is ¨Is it more beneficial for a society for individuals to assimilate into a
mainstream culture that unites them or should they seek to preserve the authentic and district
ethnicity of their cultural backgrounds?¨ I stand to the side where we should seek to preserve the
authentic and district ethnicity of our cultural backgrounds. I believe this because even though it is
easier to live in a mainstream culture, people should seek to preserve the authentic and district
ethnicity of their cultural backgrounds because being divergent is good for everyone, it shapes how
people see the world, and God made each of us unique masterpieces.
Being divergent is good for everyone. That is why it is our job to carry on our culture's legacy.

The Clinical Experience Of Intern At Multiple Sites
This is the last semester of my radiologic sciences bachelor program. Throughout the many months,
there have been countless situations which prompted me to form and execute decisions which have
led to a patient's well being. Although this is a subjective statement, I genuinely believe that I was
able to impact many of my patients in a positive fashion. From experience it seemed that patients
understood my intention and allowed themselves to trust me. The clinical experience this program
has entailed is outstanding in respect to the other programs. I was given the opportunity to intern at
multiple sites ranging from Santa Clarita to East LA to Santa Monica. With that being said, the
demographics in these areas are so different and allowed me to adjust to various ethnic and social
groups. The following examples are situations, which occurred throughout my final fall semester.
During my one week rescheduling at Olive View, I was given a requisition for a chest x–ray.
Although at first glance it seemed like a normal two view chest x–ray on a middle aged woman with
a possible indication for tuberculosis (TB) due to a positive quantiFERON. Upon arriving and
calling the patients name out, I immediately noticed that she was pregnant. I asked her why she
needed to get an x–ray and responded by letting me know that she was going to have her baby soon
and the doctors wanted to make sure an active form of TB was not present. I continued with the
exam and placed a lead apron shield on

Why Is Continuing Education Important
The Importance of an Ongoing Education
It is said that a college education is necessary for a successful future, but an important question to
ask is who might actually be getting the needed higher education? Statistically, upper income
families that have graduated from college are more likely to raise kids that succeed in college,
unlike lower income families. Studies show that children from upper income families have more
opportunities in school, opposed to lower income students. This "gap" between social classes is
growing more everyday. There are two articles that discussed these studies and showed very few
Americans between 25–34 successfully graduated from college. One author, Peter Sacks, wrote
Educating the Hierarchs College and Class in America. This article discusses that wealth and social
class play into the success of the "haves and have not's". Sacks also discusses the divide between the
educated and uneducated. Eduardo Porter is the author of the article, Education Gap ... Show more

Eduardo Porter feels that before even starting school that the kids are already behind in multiple
core subjects. "On the day they start kindergarten, children from families of low socioeconomic
status are already more than a year behind the children of college graduates in their grasp of both
reading and math." (Porter) Whereas, Peter Sacks believes that the reason for low income youth
being so far behind is that they are not given the same opportunities to succeed, like the upper class
kids are. "Not all children have an equal chance at the starting gate. Inequality is compounded when
educational institutions allocate opportunities based upon rules of the game that reward children
from well–capitalized families in a zero sum game that excludes children who weren't born so
lucky." (Sacks 83) Author's, Porter and Sacks, paint a picture of just how big these education gaps

Continuing Education For Nurses Essay
In a world where different industries continue to become more and more competitive, many
employers select potential employees with a much higher form of education. The medical industry,
particularly nursing, is one of these industries that require more advanced education. In this regard,
continuing education for nurses continues to become a trend these days. This program is vital
because nurses are the ones who often speak to patients and acquiring important educational content
can be of great help for them to become more successful in their career. Generally, continuing
education for nurses is mandatory for a license renewal. This program is based on contact hours or

offered in this program are ideal not only for nurses. Many courses are also perfect for other busy
professionals like caregivers who seek convenient learning process to prepare themselves for the
examination required for licenser. Before pursuing continuing education for nurses, you need to be
aware of the legislature of your state first. In present days, some states no longer consider this kind
of program as a requirement for a license renewal. This is because the nursing boards of these states
no longer believe that the program is necessary to increase nursing competence. On the other hand,
many other states continue to keep their commitment with the program. Since requirements vary for
every state, institutional policy, and area of specialty, it is best to make relevant inquiries regarding
the education itself as well as the learning process. Furthermore, reaching out to the Board of
Nursing of your state is a brilliant idea to become a well–informed candidate. After acquiring

The Pyramid Model Of Curriculum Evaluation Model For...
Curriculum evaluation is necessary for nursing programs to ensure the effectiveness of the program.
According to Hendricks (2015), the curriculum set up by a program not only gives direction to the
content within the program but also guides the teaching and learning processes involved in the
program implementation (p. 140). Additionally, there are many ways to evaluate curriculum. One is
to look directly at how students meet the program outcomes, while another technique is to use an
established curriculum evaluation model already in use. This assignment will explore the classic
model used for evaluation called the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education
programs in relation to the University of Washington's BSN curriculum.
Evaluation Model
According to Guin and Jax (2016), the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education
programs is based upon Donabedian's structure (1966), process, and outcome model of evaluation as
described by Hawkins and Sherwood (1999) in conjunction with the social science evaluation model
developed by Rossi and Freeman (1993). The joint effort of these researchers resulted in a highly
proficient evaluation model, in addition to a comprehensive tool that has the functionality to address
the levels of the pyramid that include program design, implementation, outcomes and impact, and a
cost analysis. Because of the efficiency of the pyramid model, it has been highly recommended that
this model be used by nurse educators when

By estimate, more than 47% of enrollees in U.S. higher education institutions can be classified as
adult learners (Creighton & Hudson, 2002). Adults pursue higher education for various reasons
including personal enrichment, change of career, or a requirement for promotion. The majority of
adult students enroll in community colleges to fulfill educational and training needs. Adult students
may face barriers when attempting to enroll in college. Program planners must understand
characteristics of adult students, recognize social issues, and identify with cultural issues to
effectively develop training and degree programs that not only attract students, but also encourage
student retention. Community colleges have the ability to reduce or eliminate student barriers and
subsequently prepare adults for the workforce.

Continuing Education Conferences Essay

  • 1. Continuing Education Conferences Essay How valuable have the last few pharmacy continuing education conferences been to your practice? Those of us who have been attending such conferences for decades understand that some are interesting. Others are not. A cramped room and uninspiring speaker can make you feel like you wasted your money, not to mention your time. That said, I have found over the years that I can do things to help make sure I get the most from these events. The first piece of advice I have for my fellow pharmacists is to attend such conferences. Go ahead. Don't dodge them. Sure, webinar technology can get us "live" credits without leaving the comfort of home. There is something to be said for that. Your particular job or life can make attendance difficult. But all things being equal, attending conferences gives a different level of experience. It is the difference between listening to the radio and attending a concert. Both convey the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I'm an introvert by nature. And although we are quieter and prefer a little isolation, we can still benefit greatly from the social atmosphere of a live pharmacy CE. Second, make a wise choice. At the moment I'm preparing to head off to the New England Pharmacist's Convention. This is one I don't miss. I pick it because the venue is comfortable, the location is accessible (this year at Foxwood's Resort Casino), the price is reasonable and the topics are diverse enough to keep my interest. There are generally many such conferences going on each year. But pick one based on your interests, the speakers and the value it will have to your career...not by the price and location. You may want to focus all your education one year on a specific topic. In that case, you might coordinate your written CE material with some relevant live CE events. Approaching your conferences this way allows you to take charge of your own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Continuing Education Courses Education is something that never depreciates. It is one of the most valuable aspects of one's life and career. To be successful at something you need to be a master of what you do. The easiest way to ensure this is by continuing your education. No one knows everything, but the more you know about your profession, product, and clients, the better off you are. Many professions require a certain type of continuing education courses to be completed every 1–2 years. For instance, insurance agents must complete continuing education courses either online or in a classroom every two years by their compliance deadline. Other industries do not have a specific requirement, but many individuals take courses online to stay current with trends, rules and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most offer both online and classroom courses. Many adult students choose online courses because they are flexible and easier to complete than attending an actual campus. For someone who is not working full time classroom courses may fit their needs. Some students prefer an instructor teaching the classes as opposed to participating in discussion board postings online. One of the most important reasons professionals' complete continuing education classes are for employment reasons. Typically, the more education one has the better. Someone with a master's degree will have an edge over someone with a bachelor's degree when competing for the same job; everything else being constant. So when an individual is looking to gain employment or move up in a corporation education is one of the first things taken into consideration. Many view education as an investment. The more you invest in yourself, the more it will pay off in the future. No one can ever take your education or degree away from you. In summary, whether taking classes online or in a classroom education is extremely important to everyone. It doesn't matter your job title or profession. The more knowledge you have, the bigger an asset you are to your boss, your company and yourself. So whether your company or industry requires continuing education or not, it is recommended to take classes every year or so to stay up to date on current trends. Also, make sure to check with your employer about tuition reimbursement. Many companies will help pay for their employees to go back to school! That's how important education is to ... • 3. My Education : Continuing My Educational Experience Continuing My Educational Experience A college education exposes a person to new experiences and gives them ideas that improve their intelligences and make them a better learner. Gaining knowledge from professors who have experience in the field of my interest is what really excites me about college and has motivated me to join the Manor Early College High School program. In my case, I believe that rather than getting a job or joining the military college is my next step in life. I know that this choice will be extremely rewarding for my future because earning a degree will increase my chances of having a successful career. College, to me, is not only a place to learn, but it is a place to prove my self–worth. My mother and father had to sacrifice their education in order to provide for their unexpected child at the age of 18. They both, just as I do, had visions of themselves in the future that involved a higher level of education. My goal is to prove that their mistake as young adults can now be repaired through my life and seen as a blessing. Deciding to step up to the plate and do everything possible to get into college is something I consider as one of the most important decisions in my life so far. If I had not applied for college, I would have felt as if everything my parents gave up for me to have opportunities such as this in life had no purpose. Deciding on what major area of study I wanted to focus on basically translated in my head to choosing what I wanted to do everyday for the rest of my life. In my opinion, this choice was so difficult to make because it felt like I was eliminating the opportunity to become knowledgeable in a wide range of subject matters. I soon realized that having a major area of study in no way limits my ability to study and discover things outside of that area. After lots of time and consideration, I have decided that I would like to major in forensic psychology because it is an area where both the justice system and psychology ... Identify the prerequisites By learning what you need to know before enrolling you will be able to avoid any frustrations caused by incapability of keeping up with the rest. Sometimes these may be simple things, and you can compensate by taking a basic class before enrolling for the advanced one. The prerequisites are normally listed along with the class description and will indicate what other classes should be taken first. Further it may list skills you should already have before enrolling. 4. Determine the cost of everything Although most classes require a simple textbook, they are getting more expensive and not all students can afford them. Depending on the subject matter of your class, your books can cost upwards of $100 each, particularly in technology, accounting and nursing. Further, depending on the type of your class, you may need additional equipment, like a PC or other electrical equipment. It is inevitable that you will spend additional money on these accessories, so you need to take them in account when determining your total schooling cost. 5. Determine the instructors availability Even though most instructors will list their contact details on their first class, you can find out about their response time by contacting them prior to enlisting. Moreover, you should learn about their availability once the classes start – will you be able to contact them easily, can they answer your questions and such. 6. • 6. Continuing Medical Education Research Paper Is your doctor practicing medicine on you with 10–year–old care tactics? How long has it been since your doctor learned how to treat asthma or anxiety? These are questions the average U.S. citizen wouldn't worry about when walking into their doctor's office–they'd be more worried about getting rid of their symptoms. Yet, your doctor's medical education is an important thing to consider when choosing a primary care physician. It is also one of the new quality initiatives that insurance companies and health care facilities now watch for. How is Montana getting away with letting doctors practice outdated treatments on patients? New York and mandatory education This question is currently being tackled in New York, another state with no mandatory CME requirements, as the New York State Assembly considers a mandatory opioid CME that would require three hours of CME every two years for providers who prescribe pain medication . The basic argument from doctors is that CMEs are an additional burden on doctors and decreases the time they could be spending on specialty–specific education. Even if it were not a requirement, this class I feel should be the foundation of continuing education no matter your major or area of study. For many years I worked for a large insurance company, almost daily my morality was tested. Customers asked me often if claims could be documented to make it appear as though they were not at fault for an accident they did indeed cause. They hoped by documenting the claim in such a way it would keep their rates down, and money in their pockets. While it would have been much easier for me and my client to document the claim as fault free, ethically it was wrong. It would have done more harm than good and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Florida Paralegal Program Act The Florida Paralegal Program was created in 2007, in order to regulate the paralegal profession in the state of the Florida. This program offers them a voluntary registration in this distingue organization, under the compromise to meet certain requirements such as education, certification, or work experience criteria, and also abide by a Code of Ethics and Responsibilities, all these based on the Chapter 20 of the Rules regulating the Florida Bar. Subsequently, these rules establish that a Florida Registered Paralegal is a paralegal who meets the requirements set out in Chapter 20 of the Rules regulating the Florida Bar. These rules designate that a paralegal is a person with education, training or work experience, who works under the direction of a member of The Florida Bar and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a member of The Florida Bar is responsible. However, there are certain differences, as well as pros and cons, between paralegals that are not registered under this rule and those who are, specifically on the following main points: work experience, education, and requirements to qualify. The first point in discussion is relative to work experience. Due to the fact that nowadays, grandfathering does not count anymore as available in order to register as a FRP, a person may no longer use experience alone as a basis for eligibility for registration: (c) Grandfathering. • 17. My Goal Of Continuing My Education There are several reasons factors that have contributed to my goal of continuing my education. One of which is, I became a mom at the age of 19 and had no clue of what to do. I just graduated high school and was working full time. I had a great support system when it came to my family. The view of the employees that participate in these educational sessions will also weigh heavily on the success of the program, and whether it is considered advantageous or not. For example, quality assurance should be a component to what continuing education courses may be offered. If providers are misdiagnosing specific conditions, or missing common skill sets such as IVs or intubations, common sense would dictate continuing education course to review the skills or to review the signs and symptoms of the specific conditions. On the other hand, if a small percentage of the providers are missing these diagnosis or skills, having a entire course to review them may cause others to become disinterested and not likely to attend. ... • 23. The Importance Of Dual Professionalism Avis et al (2010) state that historically, only occupations such as Doctors, Solicitors, the Clergy and Bank Managers were worthy of the title of being called a "Professional". However they go on to say that this has changed over time to the point whereby much more diverse groups are describing themselves within the category of being professional to the point that the term becomes meaningless. That said, they do agree that a professional should hold a set of specific skills and knowledge that are gained through a certain amount of training and "should be used for the benefit of society". Teachers, lecturers and trainers clearly fit within this remit. Scales (2008) lists professionalism as one of the traits of an effective teacher. He goes on the say that professionalism is multi–faceted, citing the way teachers behave, look, the way interact with their students, how they talk and how they prepare and plan their work all form what he believes makes a professional. In education and training, teaching alone is not merely enough. To be seen as being knowledgeable within a specialist area is also needed to be able to teach that subject and therefore teachers in this area of education are seen as dual professionals. The Institute for Learning (IFL) (2012) considers that Dual professionalism relates to many teachers within Further Education, both as a Teacher and as a proficient and knowledgeable individual in their own subject specialism. • 24. How Professionalism Is Important For Patient Care Professionalism in nursing is a key component to have. The nurse that exhibits professionalism can go far in a career. As nurses identify strengths and weaknesses, careers can change for the better. The strengths that I see in myself are optimism, good listener, and quick learner. When I think about who I am as a nurse, I don't focus on tasks and to do lists. Although skills are important for patient care, there are psychosocial aspects that should be addressed. Optimism can mean the difference in a patient's outlook. The first example is when I walked onto the unit one day; a family member approached me and told me that it was nice to see a smiling face. That meant a lot to me. Patients and their families both experience hardships and emotional changes when someone is sick or hurt. Leading me to the next example, being optimistic when my patients fear that they may not return to their former state of independence and acknowledging their concerns. Many patients have these valid fears, and being the positive outlook instead of agreeing with them sometimes helps get them to the finish line. The second strength, being a good listener, is extremely important for similar reasons. Patients have fears that are valid, they have stress that is affecting them, and they have families that are concerned for their well–being. Sometimes all someone needs is a listening ear to validate those feelings. There was a time when I had an emotional patient who was upset that his wife had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Continuing Education: The Definition Of Adult Education PART 1–ESSAYS ADULT EDUCATION What is the definition of "adult education"? Well, a lot of adults are returning to the classroom (such as myself) that the term "adult education" has become somewhat perplexing. Adult education in the broad sense is any form of learning adults engage in beyond traditional schooling. In the slightest sense, adult education is about reading ability and learning to read the most basic materials. So adult education incorporates everything from basic learning to personal fulfillment as an all–time learner. Subsequently "adult education" is a wide– ranging word to define; therefore let's look at it in the aspects of learning approach, in general, continuing education in college, and beyond literacy in the workplace. First, learning approaches for an adult education is different from childhood education learning approaches. As an adult, the approach is more practical. Adults have different needs as students, and these needs should be taken into thought when planning training for adults. Adult mindset is set and ready to be trained. It doesn't take a lot of work to prepare adults to learn. Their mindset is no longer as it was during childhood; where it is not focused and ready to learn, but to play. Then the teacher has to incorporate many activities to help bring their wandering minds into the training world. Furthermore, adult continuing education, for example, is a bit of what I'm currently doing since I went back to attend college to finish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. The Importance Of Continuing Education For A Nurse As a brand new nurse coming out of nursing school, you may be thinking that you have completed your education and that you are ready to start practicing as a Registered Nurse. As a new professional this is partially correct, but you still have many years of continuing education. There are two different aspects of continuing education for a nurse: advanced educational programs or specific continuing education courses. Throughout this discussion I will be focusing on the importance of continuing education for nurses. The American Nurses Association defines continuing education (CE) as "learning activities designed to augment the knowledge, skill and attitudes of nurses and therefore enrich the nurses' contributions to quality healthcare" (as cited in Schaeffer, 2015, p. 13). Continuing education courses are not only important for the individual nurses competences and professionalism, but it is also important in regards to the care delivered to patients and the patient outcomes. Throughout this discussion I will explain the importance of CE, how it is beneficial to the nurse, and how it effects the patients we are giving care to. As for any other profession, CE is a professional responsibility to all nurses as well. Although there are states in the United States that do not require CE in order to renew their license every two years, it is still an obligation every nurse should meet to fulfill their personal competences and knowledge. • 34. Why Is Continuing Education Important The Importance of an Ongoing Education It is said that a college education is necessary for a successful future, but an important question to ask is who might actually be getting the needed higher education? Statistically, upper income families that have graduated from college are more likely to raise kids that succeed in college, unlike lower income families. Studies show that children from upper income families have more opportunities in school, opposed to lower income students. This "gap" between social classes is growing more everyday. There are two articles that discussed these studies and showed very few Americans between 25–34 successfully graduated from college. One author, Peter Sacks, wrote Educating the Hierarchs College and Class in America. This article discusses that wealth and social class play into the success of the "haves and have not's". Inequality is compounded when educational institutions allocate opportunities based upon rules of the game that reward children from well–capitalized families in a zero sum game that excludes children who weren't born so lucky." According to Hendricks (2015), the curriculum set up by a program not only gives direction to the content within the program but also guides the teaching and learning processes involved in the program implementation (p. 140). Additionally, there are many ways to evaluate curriculum. One is to look directly at how students meet the program outcomes, while another technique is to use an established curriculum evaluation model already in use. This assignment will explore the classic model used for evaluation called the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education programs in relation to the University of Washington's BSN curriculum. Evaluation Model According to Guin and Jax (2016), the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education programs is based upon Donabedian's structure (1966), process, and outcome model of evaluation as described by Hawkins and Sherwood (1999) in conjunction with the social science evaluation model developed by Rossi and Freeman (1993). The joint effort of these researchers resulted in a highly proficient evaluation model, in addition to a comprehensive tool that has the functionality to address the levels of the pyramid that include program design, implementation, outcomes and impact, and a cost analysis.
