IF+CLAUSE (CONDITIONAL)                      MAIN CLAUSE (RESULT)

If + past simple or past continuous   would/could/might +present bare infinitive
                                                    g



They are used to express imaginary situations which are contrary
  to facts in the present and, thefore, are unlikely to happen in
  the present or future. They are also used to give advice.
FOR EXAMPLE

*If I won the lottery I would travel around de world with my family.

(There's a very small chance of winning the lottery, so the trip is unlikely)
*If I had the time, I could learn Italian.
         (
         (I don't have the time, so I'm not going to learn Italian)

*If I had the best overage at the university , I would get a scholarship
