Editor's Notes
ActiVote is a student response system that enables teachers to poll students at any time during class to assess progress and, based on responses, tailor lessons to specific student needs. With A–F voting capability and a classroom-tough design, ActiVote learner response system makes whole-class participation fun, exciting and easy. Ask a question with ActiVote and feel the energy level surge when the classroom comes to life with stimulating discussions and lively responses.
There are several key feature. There is an A-F, six-color functionality pad. It supports assessment, stimulates discussion, and encourages debate. It is hands-friendly and durable. It fits easily in the hands of students and teachers. It features a classroom-tough, non-slip surface. Activotes are versatile. You can use it with or without an ActivBoard and view assessment results in a wide range of formats, such as graphs, pie charts, and Excel spreadsheets. The wire-free technology allows Activote to integrate seamlessly with all of Promethean’s interactive solutions without awkward cables.
With Activote, you won’t have to guess whether students truly grasp the lesson content. The entire class clicks to respond and answers are instantly viewed, shared and discussed on the Activboard in simple formats, such as bar graphs and pie charts. Gain insight into student progress and use real-time feedback to determine whether you need to review, re-teach or proceed with the remainder of lesson. Students build confidence with every vote, while evaluating their own progress through both instant feedback and achievement records tallied over time.
ActiVote encourages students to engage, interact with and contribute to lessons, resulting in stimulating discussions and lively, insightful debates. As a teacher, you can instantly gauge student comprehension, identify student achievement trends, and proactively address potential academic challenges before they become ongoing issues. Research shows that self-evaluation helps increase student confidence and productivity, while ongoing assessment decreases teacher time spent on lesson preparation and testing. With Activotes, you can engage students and enliven classrooms by encouraging active, hands-on participation.
Teachers can use Activotes to access prior knowledge or background knowledge of a subject before teaching a lesson, such as during an anticipatory set. In addition, you can use them to see if students have learned what you have set out to teach them after a lesson or unit of study. This can be used to help remediate or enrich students based on the content. Likewise, teachers can create review games to be played either before a quiz or test. If a school district has access to BrainPop or BrainPopJr., Activotes can be used in conjunction with the questions at the end of each video that you incorporate into a lesson.
