1. Assessment outline
Context information:
6th grade, 37 students from a public school, 2 hours per week, according to standards their English level is A2.
Achievement standards:
Describe the basic characteristics of people, things, and places found in his/her school, city or community using short phrases and sentences.
Purpose:
● Inform reporting.
● To gain insights about strengths and weaknesses of students’ language learning process.
● To gather information for improving instruction.
Stage in the teaching sequence:
End of the term.
Task description:
The task consists on record a video in which each student is going to describe the place he/she likes the most in the city (Medellín), using the
knowledge learned during the term.
● Each student is going to choose one place in the city, in a piece of paper she/he is going to write down his/her name and the place to
be described.
● The teacher is going to share the rubric to accomplish this task.
● Each student has one week to record the video.
● The video must be 2 or 3 minutes maximum.
● Students must go to the chosen place to record the video (showing the place while they describe it).
● Next week the teacher is going to play each video in the classroom and check it based on the rubric.
Description of procedures to interpret and report results:
2. ● The teacher is going to use a rubric to check the quality of language produced by students while watching the video in the class.
● The teacher is going to give the rubric to each student with the corresponding score and comments in order to provide feedback.
● After the all presentations, the teacher is going to provide a general feedback to all the class.
