2. Torture in Venezuela
An NGO in Venezuela reported 18
torture cases during the protest.
During a protest in Venezuela, a
young man was arrested by the
police and was tortured. He even
received psycological mistrea-
ments, they told him: ''At this mo-
ment our friends are raping your
mother and sister''. During the pro-
test, a Venezuelan man was tortu-
red and shot by a rifle.
All the arrested had their self-
defense rights violated. They
couldn't talk to their lawyer and
the government forced them to
sign an agreement where it said
that they received health cares.
It can be said that
torture is the inten-
tional infliction of
severe mental or
physical pain or
suffering by or
with the consent
of the state
authorities for a specific purpose.
In total, there is annually 1053 ca-
ses, most of then in Asia and
Oceania.
One of the ancient ways of tortu-
re was Brazen Bull. It consisted in
placing the victim inside a metal
bull. Under the bull there was a
fire. The bull was heated and the
victim died.
