2. • Our thriller opening requires two separate locations. This
is because we want to show a passing of time while some
of the titles appear on the screen.

3. • Our first filming location needed to be in an open space
to show the freedom of the outside world and, more
importantly, the freedom the victim has before they are
captured.

4. • In a group discussion we decided to film on a field. The
field we had in mind is at our sixth form which would be
convenient because we would not need to travel
anywhere to film this part.

5. • We decided against using a field as the first location
because we felt it was too open. This would mean that the
murderer would have difficulty in hiding before capturing
their victim.

6. • In a group discussion, I (Ben) suggested that we film on a
well-known (and local) running/cycling path called
Marriott’s Way (picture on next slide). This would still
have give some sense of freedom as it is outside.
However, the trees that tower over it create a feeling of
closing in – something that the murderer is trying to do.
Also, the trees provide adequate hiding space for the
murderer.

8. • Our second filming location needed to be in an enclosed
space to show the lack of freedom that the victim has, as
opposed to the first location.

9. • Our group decided that we wanted to film this part in a
warehouse. This would be ideal as it would be an
enclosed place for the victim to feel trapped.

10. • We decided against using a warehouse as we could not
find one that was logistically or financially possible.

11. • As a compromise, we are now filming the second part of
our opening in my garage (picture on next slide).
However, this feels more suitable as it gives the feeling
that the murderer has their own personalised room for
victims. Furthermore, it is a very confined space with a
lack of lighting, therefore we will provide candle lights
(see prop analysis for explanations).
