This document provides information for seniors about the Tech Lit portfolio requirement. It explains that students will create a portfolio with 6 items: a resume, cover letter, references, transition plan, project sample/photos, and project summary. The portfolio will be completed every other week over 15 class sessions and judged at the end of the year for prizes. Students must also participate in mock interviews in October and apply for college assistance programs. The portfolio is designed to help with the transition after high school to college, work, or the military by presenting strengths and skills.

3. How often?
 Every other week
 Each class has 15 schedules sessions
 We will use short weeks to play catch up (Thanksgiving)
 If you are absent, find out from either myself or another student what you
missed – DO NOT ASSUME that we did NOTHING!

7. Portfolio contest
 Portfolios are judged at the end of the year
 One winner from each class is selected
 An overall winner is chosen and a prize is awarded during senior
ceremony.

8. What else is required?
 Participation in Senior Mock interviews - October
 Oct 24-26
 Need resume and references to be completed by October!
 Use of the job board
 Students will also help to assemble the portfolios starting in January
 Apply to Lakeland and CTAGS (Career Technical Assurance Guide) start to
memorize your Social Security Number (you will need it)
 Take a WEB EXAM test (end of course exam APRIL)
 Take a WORK KEYS test – measure work place skills FEBRUARY
 Register as an alumni of Auburn Career Center

 You made a great start with this by selecting to come to Auburn!!
 Spring semester of Junior year you should be visiting colleges
 Fall of senior year, begin to apply to colleges
 Spring of senior year, worry about scholarships, grants and loans
