2. In Rihanna’s controversial video for ‘We
Found Love’, we ourselves found
inspiration from a particular shot of the
main artist herself singing and moving
against a plain white wall, while
different moving images were projected
onto her.
Although Rihanna is prominently known
as a pop singer, this song and video
shares a lot of conventions with that of
house music through the use of costume
and setting and a similar beat to that of
dance music.
The images that are actually projected
onto Rihanna are that of an explosive
nature, especially the falling down
building. This matches the fast and
upbeat pace of the song when the beat
drops and also the mind set of Rihanna’s
character in the video.
3. The setting used here is actually quite simplistic with the lamp and dressing table being
clearly visible in all shots, showing that it is located in a bedroom. The projection then
adds a dramatic effect, emphasised by the different poses and facial expressions that
Rihanna demonstrates which intensifies the shot and plot of the video. It is also one of
the only continuously used shots that focuses completely on the main artist, therefore
acts as a selling point, which is what we intend to use this for in our video. Rihanna’s
costume here is also simple, as she is wearing just a plain denim jacket, allowing the
images to project onto her as well as the wall behind.
