10. To be able to face this new academic year
and develop our objective, Social Awareness,
we started where we left off last year… Our
Community.
FAITH
COMMUNITY
SOCIAL
AWARENESS
11. In that way we´ve tried to explain the term
Social Awareness, looking for or trying to
identify the problems or situations that
threaten our society.
12. To facilitate our students work, we´ve
divided the society that surrounds into two
environments.
The environment
closest to us
The environment
farther
away
13. In the closest environment, we´ve included
our school and the neighborhood in which
it´s located…
14. environment farther away from us, we´ve
included every situation that promotes
social awareness of our students outside
the first enviroment.
While in the second one, the

16. Within this setting, aside from putting all
situations in which we find ourselves on a
day-to-day basis, we´ve also included those
which require social action.
17. We wanted to focus on, however, those
situations that affect in a specific way our
school and our neighbourhood, to the end of
simplifying social action opportunities
18. Our students have detected situations
where they were able to give help or
demonstrate social action in the
communities that directly affects us:
Reading Sponsorship Programme
School Garden
Care Packages.
19.
20. With the objective of participating in the
learning process of their younger
schoolmates…
21. The class of 6th Primary has initiated a
project to take advantage of their reading
abilities in helping first primary students.
22. All students who participate in this project
have to sign a “contract” in which they
commit to making an effort to work on
another objective: IMPROVEMENT
23.
24.
25. Another situation detected by our students
was the pollution problem that we suffer in
big cities like Madrid.
26. For that reason our center has started
another project aimed to make the society
around us aware of the pollution problem in
big cities.
With this objective in mind, different works
related to recycling and the correct use of
everyday materials have been developed.
Similarily, a school garden has been planted
by 6th Primary class.
27.
28. Making use of the teams created by the
participants in the reading project, the 6th
primary class wanted to show their
“mentees” the work done in the garden.
29.
30.
31. Other realities which have raised concerns
amoung our pupils were Inequality and
Poverty.
Upon realizing that there are children like
them with limited resources, they started a
project to help those people.
We´ve prepared care packages where each
student deposited everything they consider
useful (toys, books, clothes…)
32.
33.
34. While looking for those situations that
require social help in our environment,
we´ve also wanted to focus on those that
cross our borders.
With this objective, the center has held:
• Solidarity Dinner for Haitii.
35.
36. To the end of attempting to help in the
development of Haiti, our center
organized a solidarity dinner.
The members of the school community –
families, teachers and non- teaching staff –
participated.
With the earnings we managed to help
Haiti´s situation in some way .
37.
38. We hope you´ve liked this tour
of our school and the projects
that we´ve enjoyed working on
throughout the academic year.
