4. Overview
• Smartboards can be extremely useful in the
classroom, no matter the age or abilities of
the learners.The Fridge Magnet Smartboard
lesson plan is a great way for students to learn
how to spell.They will see a picture of a
familiar object and can drag the letters to spell
the words of each object. Once the words are
formulated by individual students, they can be
spelled aloud as a class for reinforcement. This
is a very engaging way of learning and the
students will enjoy this lesson plan, while
learning at the same time.

5. Universal Design
• There are many ways that the Smartboard Fridge Magnets support Universal Design:
• Multiple means of representation – vocally through practicing the words together verbally,
and visually through dragging the letters on the board.
• It taps into learners interests because they want to participate and be an active learning by
coming to the board.
• The learners can express how they know the spelling through either coming to the board
and dragging the letters or through reading the words aloud, however they prefer.
• It keeps learners engaged with the hope of coming to the board, enhancing positive
student behavior
