2. Reader Profile
• From your homework you already know what
a music magazine puts into their Reader
Profile. At least one should be uploaded to
your blog already!
3. • You have gathered some information that will
help with your product, but you need to find out
the following and more about your target
audience
• What they eat
• What they do in their spare time
• What do they watch
• Where do they shop – favourite brand of clothing
– how much do they spend on clothes a month
• Do they work F/T or P/T or Student
• How many gigs do they attend – how much do
they spend on tickets
• How much money disposable income do they
have every week/month?
4. • What social grade do they belong to?
• How do they listen to music? How do they
buy music and how much spend on music a
month? How do they discover new music?
• What devices do they use to access the
internet? How much time on an average day
do they spend on the internet? What are their
favourite websites? NOTHING MUCKY!
• What are their favourite TV shows, Films.
5. Collate
• The information you have gathered already
you should or will be able to put together in a
pie chart/graph.
• The information you will gather today you will
be able to add to that BUT build a more
indepth picture of who YOUR target audience
is.
6. How to carry this out
• That’s up to you.
• Interviews
• Focus group with peers in class
• Questionnaire
• Filming
• It doesn’t matter how you collect this
information as long as the end result is a
Reader Profile
7. • Your Reader Profile should link into any ideas
for adverts/promotions you were going to
include and this will be JUSTIFIED using your
Reader Profile.
• Your evaluation of your final product will relay
heavily on the research you gather.
• How much they would pay
• Colours they prefer
