Profile Form Title: Milestone 1 Name: _____ • Describe the interviewee: profession or career,
the culture of origin, and working phone number. Be specific. (20 points) My interviewee is
SW, she is a 33 years old lady working as a nanny in New York City. She came to the city in
2014 straight from an old town called Mandera in Kenya. She is a mother of two children, a
boy and a girl aged 10 years and 6 years respectively whom she left with her mother to take
care of them as she came to work. She has been doing a Nanny Course online so as to secure
a certificate in her line of work. She has been working for the family she is currently with
since she came from Kenya. Her job is basically to take care of the employers’ three years
old son throughout the day since the parents are in white collar jobs and perform other
chores such as household chores and dropping their 10 years old daughter to school in the
morning and picking her up in the early afternoon. When she came she did not have any
driving experience and therefore she had to enroll for some part-time classes and once she
was through she was given the responsibility of taking the kid to school to earns her extra
income • State the number of years the interviewee has resided in your community. Please
verify that the interviewee has been living in a culture other than the one of origin for at
least the past 3–5 years. Provide a description of the current community (your community).
Assignment: challenges in the access to affordable healthcareBe specific. (20 points) Miss
SW has been living in Queens for 3 years now. The interviewee confessed that the
environment and the culture here is very different from her native town, Mandera. The
people are urbanized and do not have the traditions that most Kenyan communities have.
She considers herself lucky to be capable and allowed to drive a car which is not as common
in her native country. She had been able to make a few friends from the surrounding
residents especially another lady from South Africa who is also a nanny and happens to
drop the kids of her employer to school every morning too. She confessed that it is not easy
to find someone from Kenya because the city is very busy and people are always in a rush to
go on their duties. It is unlike in her native community where people can spend the whole
day sitting and talking about nothing in particular as the cows and goats graze on the fields
• Describe your relationship with the interviewee, such as friend, colleague, classmate, an
2. employee at the local restaurant, healthcare worker, migrant worker, and so on. (10 points)
The interviewee is a friend I happened to meet in my line of work. The first day we met in
the hospital and then later we met at a local food joint and had some time to interact and
know each other more. She interested me with her many stories about the differences she
sees in the western community compared to her native country. • Enumerate reasons why
you selected this interviewee that speak to the interviewee’s culture and experiences with
the healthcare system. Be specific. Describe the healthcare services that the interviewee has
received in the current environment or community. (45 points) I decided to interview her
because she represents the minority who are having challenges in the access to affordable
healthcare. Her ethnicity is African and she is not paid top dollar for her job which is also
another factor that is bringing a lot of disparity in the access to quality healthcare.
Assignment: challenges in the access to affordable healthcareShe is a reflection of how the
country is in denial about the situation of healthcare provision. Considering the challenges
of access to healthcare that her and other Black Americans are going through it is an
indicator that the U.S is lagging behind other developed nations in the healthcare measures
because the kind of care received is dependent on the race, income, and ethnicity. She is also
a representation of how the system has continued to kill the dream of people because from
where she comes from, she would expect a society whose healthcare is top notch.
Considering she has experience of using herbal medicine from her community then she is
right to expect things to be different in the most powerful country on earth. In the 2015
report by National Healthcare Disparities, it indicated that approximately 35% of the
African Americans and other low-income earners had difficulties getting proper healthcare.

Name: __________________ • Note the proposed date of the interview. Describe the location of
the interview and how privacy will be maintained. Be specific. (20 points) I have planned to
conduct the interview on the Morning of 25th November. I have planned to hold the
interview on a weekend because it is the most convenient time for my interviewee. We shall
be meeting at the Comma Cafe which is not far away from her residence or mine. I have
chosen this joint because of the serenity offers. It is a quiet place that where we can have
our interview without worrying about noise or someone eavesdropping. It is a well-spaced
cafe to enhance privacy and minimize the probability of distractions. • Describe the process
you will use for documenting your interview and what steps you will take to ensure its
accuracy. For example, do you plan to take notes and then ask the subject for verification, or
do you plan to record the interview in audio or video and then transcribe it? (14 points) I
talked to the interviewee about my options and she informed me that she was comfortable
with my preferred option of recording the entire interview. Therefore, I am planning to use
my phone for recording and also to have a notebook on the side to take notes on the major
