Indie Rock Band Of Montreal Concert Analysis
Indie rock band of Montreal will grace the stage of Bears on Fairfield tonight at 10pm. This will be their second stop on a 41 city tour across the
United States.
Chase Boytim, owner of Bears, is excited about tonight's show since he missed an opportunity to see them a few years ago.
"I've been a fan a few years now. I really wanted to catch them at Demonfest in Natchitoches a couple years ago but had my own show I couldn't get
away from" he said.
Since 1996, of Montreal has colored outside of the music lines and explored different genres. The Athens, GA based band started with an indie–pop
sound and through the years they experimented with rock, funk, psychadellic and electronic. Now, with 13 albums under their belt, their sound is an
intriguing hodgepodge of them all.

That visual transported of Montreal right into the hands of Outback Steakhouse. Wraith Pinned to the Mist was re–recorded and featured as a jingle for
one of the restaurant's commercials.
That theatrical look is not only displayed in their music videos, it is a part of their live show as well. They strive to create an experience like none other.
"We have an unconventional production for indie rock band. We want to create an evening that's special and out of the ordinary, not the typical show"
said Barnes.
Boytim agrees that this show will be very special for Bears and Shreveport.
"This is a very unique opportunity to see these guys in probably the smallest venue they are going to play all tour. They have an incredible light
show and stage performance that will set this show apart from any show we will have had thus far. This will be the most incredible show we have had
to date" he said.
Concert goers can expect music from the past eight of Montreal records and new material in 70–90 minutes set.
Barnes wants this show to be enjoyable to fans and new

Emo Subculture
THE EMO SUBCULTURE
Aspects of Contemporary Society
Emo, short for Emotional; this group is generally constructed as a group of teenagers who desperately try to escape the social class they have been
put into. Mostly an underground scene the term "Emo" began as a music genre in the mid 1980's with a group of bands set on redefining punk rock
music. They based their music on emotions and feelings and this quickly spread throughout America. This lasted until the early 2000's when the bases
turned to (some say) over–the–top emphasis on self expression and negative connotations were implied; emotion and sadness thus stereotyping the
word we so often hear today. With this derogatory, implications followed. Emos began to be marginalized due to... Show more content on

Linday states in the text piece "If you're beautiful, brainy, wealthy or sporty, you're probably OK. If you're just an ordinary kid, not outstanding at
anything, the world can be a pretty unpleasant place." Putting in place the ideology that if your not "beautiful, brainy, wealth or sporty then you don't
have a place in society or are more ceceptable to become emo. She backs this up with further statements such as "In the old world, teenagers who
weren't academic stars were already in the workforce and earning respect" & "Kids who feel inadequate can become bullies, or get bullied. For those
who are bullied, their feelings of inadequacy are entrenched by regular humiliation." Portarying Emos as generally bullied, non academic teenagers
who seek to individualise and remove them selfs from contempory society.

Analysis Of The Article ' Sounds Of L.a '
This quarter, the Arts and Entertainment section of U.C.L.A.'s student newspaper The Daily Bruin is running a music column titled "Sounds of L.A."
This column explores how various Los Angeles neighborhoods influence musicians that are based in the city. Including the rock 'n' roll landmark of
Laurel Canyon, the modern indie beacon of Echo Park, and the rough–and–tumble underground punk scene of East L.A., Los Angeles has birthed
hundreds of artists across all genres. I am the writer of The Daily Bruin's "Sounds of L.A." column, and the more time I spend interviewing and
researching these musicians, the more I wonder if the causal arrow actually points in a different direction. While the history and atmosphere of Los
Angeles's various neighborhoods could influence the artists that call the city home, it is more likely that these musicians are affecting the areas they
inhabit, creating communities that reflect their collective mindsets. It is the artists who shape these neighborhoods and turn each section of Los
Angeles into areas with individual personalities, using their music to communicate en mass the image and culture that they are promoting. Laurel
Canyon is known for its historic rock 'n' roll past, a narrative that began in the 1960s when artists like Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison and Crosby, Stills,
Nash and Young first moved into the Hollywood Hills. Today, musicians travel from across the globe to be inspired by the nature and spirit that shaped
these rock icons.

The Drums Album Summertime
The Drums are an American indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York. When the group moved from Kissimmee, Florida to New York, they
immediately got the attention of the indie world when their album Summertime was released.
The album Summertime is a collection of beach pop fantasy with tracks that are filled with sentimental yearning that really sweeps over an individual.
They became an irresistible and popular band in the summer of 2009. The Summertime record has become the perfect upbeat and post–punk summer
fling album to have.
The founding members of The Drums are Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham who have been friends since they were children. Several years after being
friends they created a short lived electro pop group called Goat Explosion. Afterwards Jonny Pierce developed the Elkland group and Jacob Graham
formed the Horse Shoes group.
When Elkland parted ways in May 2006 Jonny decided to stop creating music for a few years. In 2008 Jonny and Jacob met back up and created the
group The Drums. At that time they hired drummer Conner Hanwick and guitarist Adam Kessler. In October of 2009 their very first album was
released called Summertime. In September 2010 it was broadcasted that Adam Kessler had left the band.
According to the remaining members it was devastating at first when Kessler left with no clear circumstances. This in turn introduced Chris Stein on
drums and Myles Matheny doing backup vocals as well as guitar. A couple of weeks later Pierce announced the

Pop Song 'Riptide'
"Riptide" is an awesome indie folk and indie pop song with a fun riff, beachy feel, steady tempo and very is unique to other songs. It was created
by Vance Joy, who had been working on the song for about four years. He started in 2008, and during an interview, he had said, "The words came
to me without meaning," although a few lyrics relate to his personal life, such as "I was scared of dentists and the dark, I was scared of pretty girls
and starting conversations," where he was actually a shy kid, but the he liked the literation "dentists and the dark" and thought it worked well.
"Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you've ever seen," was because he really likes Michelle Pfeiffer, and "cowboy running from himself" was
from the movie, Midnight Cowboy. These lyrics, which seem to have no meaning, have actually became very catchy, and could get stuck in your head
for days. Some people have thought it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was released in September 5, 2014, in Australia, and on September 9 worldwide. The album had peaked at one in Australia, two in the US and in
Canada, and 20 in the UK. They have sold over 3,000,000 units over the span of three years since it came out. This song has really stood out from
other songs because of how people can interpret the song their way. Some can think of the lyrics as just gibberish, but others have believed it to be a
story. One person thought of it as his best friend became rich, left her, and now he is getting angry. Another thought it was a guy writing a love song to
a girl he wants to ask out. People can turn the song into whatever they want it to mean, as there is so many ways that you can understand the song,
which makes it different. "Riptide" is a very interesting, fun song with great melody, musical hook, intriguing lyrics, with a strong beat, and I highly
recommend this song to anyone who is interested in different, unique

Indie and Alternative Rock Generation Z to Generation Y is fueled by indie/alternative rock. These generations were raised during the beginning of
alternative music. The style of indie and alternative music helped form these generations and represent how they act today. Music affects generations
in every way possible. Generations Y and Z are very diverse compared to the other generations. These generations could be more diverse because of the
music that influenced them throughout their lives. Alternative and Indie music began in the early 80's and late 70's. The rise of Indie music was
inspired by the underground punk rock scene. Alt/indie didn't become popular until the 90's because it was so underground and unheard of. The
musicians were called "alternative" because they were independent and unsigned artists. Today Indie rock is still not as popular as mainstream artists.
Alternative musicians stick to their roots and remain underground. The future of alternative music is looking bright. With more artists making
alternative music the genre is becoming more popular. The sub genres of alternative and indie music is what truly forms the genre as a whole. Indie
rock is a term that represents artists who remain unsigned to major record labels. Punk rock is very similar to indie rock but it is more intense.

The Song Cherry Wine By Indie Rock Artist
In the song "Cherry Wine", written and performed by indie rock artist Hozier, it becomes apparent early on that this is not what one might consider a
typical love song; nor is it about a typical woman. Although the acoustic guitar and softer melody paint a peaceful picture, the lyrics express that there
is something much deeper that lies beneath its surface. From beginning to end, every verse about this woman and his relationship with her is a
contradiction, which immediately sets the tone for the way he feels being with her: it's a battle. While most love songs are written in hopes of appealing
to a wide audience, Hozier simply writes about the faults he has found in his own relationship and how, regardless, he can't seem to walk away.
Although Hozier continuously professes his love for this woman throughout this song, there are still darker lyrics and elements that should be
acknowledged as well. The second verse begins with this line: "Calls of guilty fall on me/ All while she stains the sheets of some other." It's very
clear in this lyric that this woman has continuously accused him of being unfaithful to her all while it is implied that she is the one who has been
unfaithful. It is not just coincidence that, a few lines before, Hozier says "It looks ugly, but it's clean. Oh mama, don't fuss over me," which suggests
that his friends and family are concerned about this relationship but he insists that it isn't as bad as it looks. It's interesting how these two verses

Essay About Rock
"Our rock," Inez proclaimed. "What I imagine you two probably didn't think at all about was... what was truly going to happen to our rock when we
fired the magnetron. When the magnetron sent its microwaves into the rock, they actually went through it, hitting the iron plates on the other side,
and were then reflected back our way where the Geiger Counter took a series of measurements of them. Those measurements were then analyzed by
my program and then given to us." Inez hit another command on his keyboard bringing up a new screen. Before all three of them now appeared what
seemed like endless rows and columns of ones and zeroes, each row in groups of eight numbers. "What you're looking at is what's called bytes," Inez
stated. "Each byte... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this out there when the time is right and we'll make everybody have to listen to us then." "Yeah, I guess, you're right," Phillip agreed reluctantly.
"Hey, man, do you want to see something else that's really cool?" asked Inez hoping shuffled the conversation to a brighter note. "Yeah, what?"
Phillip asked, sounding a bit eager. "Well, if this experiment was anything like the first one I did yesterday, then we should have one more result."
"What is it?" asked Cassidy, Inez's revelation having also recaptured her attention. "Well, this is kind of freaky if it happened, so be forewarned,"
Inez avowed. "Come on, tell us," Cassidy pleaded. "Okay, Phillip, my man, why don't you go pick up your rock?" said Inez with a gesturing head nod.
"Okay," Phillip said assenting to the request somewhat tentative as he looked over at Inez then glancing at Cassidy. Summing up the courage, he then
complied, making his way over to where the rock still sat atop Inez's computer desk. Slowly, he reached out a timid hand, cautious to touch the stone.
Then, making contact, he ever so lightly glazed over it with his index finger searching for anything unusual, any

Modern Indie Music Movement
Imagine the discovery of an art form so abstract and different, one of which possessed with strange ideals and seemingly free artists to create and
dispose at their will. These are the basic attributes of what we call independent, or indie, music. Independent music is a movement meant to represent
the opposition of being trite – an anti–establishment "fuck you" to the mass marketing of originality. Independent music started as bands that were on
small and relatively low–budget labels that had a do–it–yourself attitude and retained an outsider and underground perspective. From then on, the
conversation changed from how the music was made to how the music sounds, such as containing abstract or non–mainstream themes, instruments,
lyrics, etc..... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these artists were R.E.M., Pixies, and The Smiths from the UK, a band that helped inspire the guitar–based genre jangle pop. Around this time
in the United States, the term indie was particularly associated with the intense, distortion–heavy sounds of the Pixies, HГјsker DГј, Minutemen, Meat
Puppets, Dinosaur Jr., and The Replacements. The 1990's proceeded to bring massive changes to the indie rock scene. Grunge (a subgenre of rock that
fuses elements of punk rock, heavy metal, and distorted electric guitar) bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Hole, and Alice in Chains
broke into the mainstream, achieving commercial chart success and widespread exposure. As a result of indie rock bands moving into the mainstream,
the term "indie" lost its original counter–cultural context and began to refer to the new, commercially more accessible form of music that was now
achieving mainstream success. It has been argued that the term "sellout" lost its meaning as grunge made it possible for a small movement, no matter
how radical, to be commercialized by the mainstream, solidifying the formation of an individualist, fragmented

Alternative Rock Music
Music junkies, concert connoisseurs, and vinyl vigilantes everywhere need to know about the similarities and differences between the alternative rock
and indie rock genres. The genres alternative and indie are terms sometimes used interchangeably, but their origins are indeed differing. There has been
a varying progression of media platforms used to listen to these genres among the past few decades due to society's social and economic changes. In
terms of instrumental progressions and technological buildups in the music world, the instruments and stylings used to define these genres has
changed as well. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, alternative rock is defined as "a style of rock music characterized as unconventional, or
outside the mainstream which resonated powerfully with a generation weathering an economic recession." Conversely, Oxford explains the term indie
as "the deliberately unpolished or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would choose to define alternative rock as music that has heavy metal influenced rhythms, with the use of electric guitars and bass drums, but
conveys a lighter, upbeat feel, and uses meaningful lyrics. Alternative rock emerged in the late 80's and early 90's when the United States was facing
an economic recession and in a post–war state. The songs alternative rock artists wrote during this time tended to be more melancholy in sound, and
carry out the use of lyrics about the struggles society as a whole, and the artists as individuals were facing due to this social and economic decline.
These lyrics were relatable for listeners and adequately helped them cope with the strife. These artists, more often than note were signed by more
widely–known record labels. Examples of these bands include, but are not limited to, Radiohead, Sonic Boom, Cage The Elephant, Pearl Jam, Jane's

Chapter 9 Of The Great Gatsby
The setting in the last chapter is unchanged from the start of the novel, which suggests that Alex's persona has behaved the same way. Even as Alex
moves from place to place, the settings match up. At the beginning of chapter seven of part three, Alex is once again sitting in the Korova Milkbar
with three other friends. At this point, the story seems to come full circle and creates a sense of DГ©jГ vu since the setting of the first page was the
same place. Burgess begins to incorporate a sense of change in the last chapter when Alex explains "the heighth of fashion, which in those days was

chapters, the friends move on to the Duke of New York bar and purchase drinks for the same three ladies. In contrast to the first chapter, older Alex
hesitates to give away his money to them because "these last days...there had come into his gulliver a like desire to keep all [his] pretty polly to

Music 's Music On Pop Music
Most of the music on the radio today sounds very similar, and even those that sound a bit different still have the same subject matter. It seems that the
lyrics to songs don't matter much in pop culture, judging by the songs played on pop radio that involve sex, drugs, and partying. Those like me who
truly have passion for music realize that lyrics are, in fact, important, if not the most important part of a song. Those that are as passionate about music
as I am tend to appreciate a song more if its melody is nice and its lyrics are meaningful, rather than one or the other. Most of the overplayed music on
pop radio has lyrics that take less deep thinking than adding two plus two. On the other hand, less–popular genres of music, including indie and
alternative, two genres much less likely to be found on pop radio, incorporate some of these same themes –– drugs, sex, and partying are still
referenced in genres other than pop, and I refuse to lie and tell you all indie and alternative music is completely innocent and wholesome –– it
definitely isn't. But the themes that occur constantly in pop music are translated into these genres in a way that means something far more in–depth.
For example, where a song like "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus blatantly states the lyric "dancing with Molly" and talks about how she and her
friends can do whatever they want because they're high at a party, a song like "The A Team" by Ed Sheeran–– yes, this song does play on the radio,
and yes, I do

Indie Music Research Paper
Throughout the past 20 years indie music has slowly but surely emerged as a new and influential genre of popular music. It has secured its place in
the world and has even branched off into subgenres such as indie rock, and indie pop. Indie music has clearly changed not only the music industry but
also societies view of what can be considered music. As a result it created a home for artists who didn't fit into any other genres that already existed. It
became more than just a new genre because of its unique roots and constant theme of independence that draws in artists and listeners with the same do
it yourself attitude.
In the mid 1980's the term "indie" started being associated with post–punk, punk and college rock. Both UK and US played equally important roles in
shaping indie music as a whole. The main difference between the UK and the US response to the overwhelming amount of indie artists was that in the
UK it was easier for the artists to get national attention (History Of Indie–Rock, 2009). That didn't stop US artists from perusing their music. Indie
music originated as an underground do–it–your–self rebellion. All of a sudden bands started showing up that were not particularly special in the sense
that they didn't have amazing musical skills or singers with voices like Frankie Valli or Elvis but they wanted to... Show more content on

The song is very emotive, with evocative lyrics. It was immediately clear to all of us that we should extend these qualities into our video. We

We chose to produce a music video, suitable for mainstream TV. Establishing band idenity The song has a clear Indie style with its grungy guitar
and vocals. It also has a very individual style and sound. We felt that our band could be marketed as an Indie band brandishing a new style. Whilst
the band would be very stylised, its main concern is for it's music. The bands style would grow from their passion for their music and are the 'muso'
type. It would be very bold and artistic with its other media productions just as it is with its music. The band would not nesicerialy be a mainstream
product but would have mainstream appeal, similar to such bands as radio head and the white stripes. We decided that 'Bus stop boxer' would be the

The Effects Of Music On Our Lives
Music is an extremely important factor in our lives. In today's society, walking into a store and hearing a pop song that you know all the lyrics to is
a very common occurrence. If I were on a stranded island, I would bring the album Born To Die by Lana Del Rey. Some songs or albums evoke
certain types of emotions whether through the utilization of lyrics, instrumentations, or beats. These emotions can elicit different types of moods as
well; and we often come by songs can put us in the mood to do different kinds of things like cooking, sleeping, studying, spending time with friends, or
anything else. I don't think that Born To Die is my absolute favorite album, but I do think that it would keep me from going insane on this stranded
island.
Lana Del Rey has a mesmerizing, haunting, and vivacious voice when she sings, so it is no surprise that I would have no problem hearing her on
repeat on a stranded island. Her voice is a very distinct and hard to forget voice as, which makes Born To Die a much more emotional album. She is
considered to be an Indie Pop artist, as she has a very eccentric and eclectic feel to most of her music. The album is filled with harps and symphonic
elements like violins, violas and cellos. "Born to Die" contains steady drums and electronic guitar beats. However, "Blue Jeans" incorporates western
guitars that give it a string instrument vibe. Many of the songs on Born To Die have to do with boosting self–confidence and self–esteem, often targeting

Streaming Stereotypes
Some would say that there is music all around, in commercials, in movies, in tv shows, even in grocery stores. There are many ways to listen to
music, various streaming apps such as Spotify, pandora, YouTube, all of these sites allow people to stream artists music for free. It has been said
before that someone has founded their favorite song in a commercial or in a bizarre place that surrounds many human lives. Although a group of the
population does not agree with this tactic of publicity. In fact a few artist have taken the right of publicizing their music on streaming apps due to loss

streaming but people make it seem as if downloading is free when it's not. To cancel streaming to fans because they don't have money to pay and have

Fishing Persuasive Essay
It twas a warm July morning and the best friends George and Jeff were out on the water. The two boys loved fishing and they would always try to
go. When they would comeback they would always have new stories and forever memories from their previous adventure. The boys would do
whatever it took to get to a fishing spot. The boys have stories from when they had to swim upstream to a spot, or have to tightrope walk a dam, once
they even kayak down river for 3 days just to get to a fishing hole.
One day the two boys were in church, when George looked over at Jeff whose face could show that he had an idea. A couple minutes later George
looked over again and made eye contact with Jeff, Jeff lipped out the words "We need to talk." After the church bells signaled the end of the service
George hustled to the meeting spot under the berry tree where him and Jeff always met. Georged asked "What you wanna talk about?" Jeff told him
about his plan to canoe the Llano river from Llano Texas to Lake LBJ. It was music to George's ears.
Jeff went home after church to think about their trip. He thought about all the good times they had and all the fish they caught on the Llano. He
dreamed about their trip and was counting down the days until his trip. At night he would dream about pulling in a monster, or he would have
nightmares of his line snapping.
The day came when after church Jeffs mom, Ms.Julie asked if George's mom is George could go to their ranch with them this Wednesday. George

Analysis Of Rock And Metal Music
Groups of individuals continue being misunderstood by society leading to exaggerated misconceptions of what is true about them. Emos are one of
the many groups who are strictly misunderstood because of their appearance and personal preferences. They are usually portrayed as being in their
teens, having long black hair, and wearing skinny jeans with a shirt of their favorite bands. While the description does apply to them, it does not
always mean that every person dressed like that is considered an Emo. The simple meaning of a person who is classified as an Emo is that they are
very emotional towards situations, the cause usually being a horrific past experience. Rock and metal music is the preferred music genre of the group

Whether or not a person listens to emo music, writes emo poetry, or adopts an alternative lifestyle is a personal decision that does not automatically
have anything to do with the colour or cut of their hair"("Emo Scene Community Lifestyle & Culture" 2). What the author is trying to state is that
we should not be labeling an individual solely because they enjoy the fashion sense of a group. Just because someone looks a specific way does not
mean that it is okay to ridicule them in a manner that makes them uncomfortable. It is okay for someone to dress or look how they desire, but what is
not okay is for them to be made fun of for what they like and enjoy.
When someone thinks of the word Emo, many different visuals appear in their mind. Most people usually imagine a tall, slender, teenage male
dressed in all black clothes with long, black hair. In the article, "What is emo? Why Emo?", the author describes them as, " The fashion was simple:
black tight clothing with a dash of color thrown in their elbow–length gloves or poetry covered converse. There were the side bangs that produced what
my friends in high school called the Cyclops look because it covered one eye. And to follow up on the low self–esteem, being thin was an obsession. If
you wore the clothes and appeared to weigh close to a hundred pounds, you were Emo, otherwise you were a fat rocker

Characteristics And Characteristics Of The Mineral Lazurite
There are a myriad of minerals, gemstones, and rocks throughout the world with each having select features and characteristics that differentiate one
another. When selecting a mineral to conduct a research report on, one could be drawn to Lazurite for a multitude of factors whether it be the
aesthetically pleasing appearance or the various ways it has been incorporated throughout history. Therefore, one can define such a magnificent mineral
by characteristics and historical application for which humans have tended to gravitate towards. First and foremost, the mineral Lazurite has many
scientifically definable features. For example, in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale, Lazurite falls within the range of 5–5.5 which is about the
halfway point between the weakest minerals and the strongest. As for another feature of Lazurite, the color usually falls in an array of blues from
light to dark and sometimes green or even violet. When Lazurite is ground into a powder formally known as a streak, it brings forth the true color of
the mineral and blue seems to be the case. When referring to the luster, one can define three different characteristics such as a vitreous, greasy, and
waxy appearance. The luster is an illumination of the reflected light upon the surface space of the mineral. Therefore in terms of luster, it would be
classified as a nonmetallic due to vitreous (glassy) or greasy appearance. According to the article "Guide to Minerals, Rocks, and Fossils," Lapis–Lazuli

'Hound Dog' was the beginning of Elvis Presley's rock music career with songs such as jailhouse rock following. Presley brought a whole new type

When we arrived at the new house, it felt different as well. The exterior of the house looked more modern, and the smell of the flowers surrounding it
was delightful. It didn't look as old as the house I lived in before.
The neighbors greeted us and gave us a welcome basket full of cookies, chips, and much more. As I stepped foot into the house, I noticed that there

It was dark. Not so dark you couldn't see anything, but dark enough that you couldn't see anything five feet in front of you. In front of me was our

made our way through the rocky dark forest. Until, we came to a ginormous vertically angled rock were Neha and I were struggling to make it
through. First we saw Mrs. Leys slowly slide down like a slide, Neha and I were petrified. We could see the beautiful shining lake while the glowing
moon reflected off it, you could almost taste the frigid lake water, the dirt was soft and squishy, but not like mud, there was no smell except the sweet
smell of the chilling flowers and trees around us. Neha and I attempted to climb over the rock. That was an awful attempt. We saw that Mrs. Leys had
slid down the hill so Neha and I tried that. I got down first, next came Neha, she slid down and I caught her at the end, next came Jake and he just
jumped down like it was any normal day. Neha and I were so relieved that we made it through alive. That was only the first rock sadly. The next one

Everything Dali Paints Symbolizes Something Else Essay
Dali's Vision
The painting "Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate A Second Before Awakening" was painted by Dali in 1944. The
painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension of 51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In
his masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a
woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself
symbolizes something in the world. Dali's "Caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate a second before awakening" depicts vulnerability and ...

The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far
sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals, the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock
is repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or more explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The
rock that she is floating above represents moral principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the support
of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of battle are about to descend upon the people like a
downpour. The evil and horrors came from the sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with
mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what has been said.
Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant, with its long legs and its great load, characterizes
the worldly greed, which also differed from the traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like the
woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to mangle and kill the woman.
Henceforth, Dali's "Caused by

Review Of David M. Greenberg Et Al Divided People And...
Your Choice of Music Can Reveal Your Personality One's taste in music is at the top of the list when it comes to topics that can cause a heater
argument. Musical preferences are sacred to most people and we tend to divide into small tribes over music, considering the other tribes as less
sophisticated. Interestingly, your music choices are not a random grouping – your tribe isn't determined by where your friends go. Instead, your
personality and the music you like are interlinked, both influencing each other. Three thinking groups and their musical choices A 2015 study by David
M. Greenberg et al divided people's thinking into three separate thinking styles: the empathizers, the systemizers and the balanced. Each thinking style
tended to favor different type of music, allowing the researchers to predict what music the person likes simply by understanding their thinking style.
Empathizers feel connected to others, they have strong emotions and they base their decision–making often on emotional values. On the other hand,
systemizers think more rationally. They are calm and composed in their decision–making. As you might suspect, the balanced thinkers are a mixture of
both these styles. First, the empathizers were shown to prefer mellow music – low energy, sad emotions and emotional depth. The people in this group
were therefore associating with genres such as soft rock, indie music and R&B. For the systemizers, this type of music wasn't appealing. They were

'Representation is the construction and aspects of reality in any medium, especially mass media. It can be presented in speech, writing, still and moving

codes and conventions that cause the representation of masculinity ion two magazines. These magazines are the February 2011 edition of Kerrang

This large and bold text catches the eye of the audience and will therefore be the first thing that people will recognise the magazine by. In addition to
this, the strap lines, placed variously around the main image, allow the audience to gain more information about the issue and its content. An example
of this would be 'Tom Clark VS. Faris Rotter' which grabs the audience's attention and the fact that the names are of two men gains the appeal of men
as they can immediately relate to them. By using the word 'VS' also gives the impression of fighting and violence, which is known to be a very
masculine tendency as it relates to dominance and control, two things men aspire to become. 'The Marxist concept of hegemonic masculinity states that
the man should have; Physical force and control, occupational achievement, familial patriarchy, frontiersman–ship and heterosexuality'.
NME is very powerful and well known in the music industry, especially the 'indie genre' of it, 'Indie (independent) guitar rock is a post–punk subgenre
of independent or alternative rock, featuring mainly white, male groups playing mainly electric guitars, bass and drums' these present what can be seen

Alternative music is a subgenre of rock music, which emerged from indie music in the 1980's, and has since gained a lot of popularity. The word

genre umbrella, but none of the bands sound the same at all, and I like to think of it as the melting pot of music. Since each band has a different
style it is likely you'll be able to find something you enjoy. It originated from bands who didn't have a major record label, and they instead signed to

Consumerism In Oh Wonder
American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, ""Our society is falling back increasingly on rampant consumerism and self–promoting social
media as a way for people to feel that their lives matter – self–centered means of numbing the questions of mattering." In a world caught up in mass
media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social interaction. With the ability to say anything without
having a face–to–face conversation, hate is easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still "interact". According to Dolan, "Rock,
in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and
countercultural ideals while at the same time depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution." In the case of the band
Oh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion.
Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from London England. Starting off in a separate band
and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. Coming from
a city with a high Soundcloud following, especially "since the early 1990s, many of the most internationally influential genres of electronic dance
music have originated in London" (Allington), they immediately found success. To the surprise

Music : The Causes And Effects Of Modern Popular Music
Music of this generation has been thought to be worse than other generations. There is always the argument that music has gotten worse, and both
sides have equally strong evidence. Modern popular music has gotten worse, and that has always been the case, however there are a plethora of other
genres and styles of music that still carry that authenticity and creativeness that we're missing. Most of the reason for lack of creativity in music is
corporate greed. Large companies like to release less inspired songs because they bring in the largest profits. There is still good music in the world, it's
just a lot harder to find. Music should have creativity and authenticity, and that's something indie music has that popular music doesn't.... Show more

What's popular is music that makes money, and a lot of people in the music industry don't want to let go of their figures to experiment with something
that could have even more potential and bring back what we're lacking in modern music. Pop music has become bland and emotionless to appeal to
the lowest common denominator. Pop music has always big the big deal, trying to sell to the public and be used for profit. Recently, however, major
record labels such as Warner Music Group, Sony Music, and EMI have found it possible to make the maximum amount of money per song.
According to Pollock (2015) "Thanks to unprecedented data from YouTube, Spotify, Shazam and even Wikipedia, the industry can see not only what
listeners like, but also when, where and on what platform they like it." (para. 3) This new information allows record labels to gauge what music
people like the most so that they can release more of that music. Another way they're controlling what becomes popular is by using that application
called "HitPredictor" which can accurately predict most of what a year's top hits will be. These labels use this information to create more watered
down, uninspired version of pre–existing songs because that music is what happens to be popular. This music is also what labels like to produce as
well because it's cheap and easy to produce,

Indie Rock Band Of Montreal Concert Analysis

  • 1. Indie Rock Band Of Montreal Concert Analysis Indie rock band of Montreal will grace the stage of Bears on Fairfield tonight at 10pm. This will be their second stop on a 41 city tour across the United States. Chase Boytim, owner of Bears, is excited about tonight's show since he missed an opportunity to see them a few years ago. "I've been a fan a few years now. I really wanted to catch them at Demonfest in Natchitoches a couple years ago but had my own show I couldn't get away from" he said. Since 1996, of Montreal has colored outside of the music lines and explored different genres. The Athens, GA based band started with an indie–pop sound and through the years they experimented with rock, funk, psychadellic and electronic. Now, with 13 albums under their belt, their sound is an intriguing hodgepodge of them all. "Musically we sort of explore a lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That visual transported of Montreal right into the hands of Outback Steakhouse. Wraith Pinned to the Mist was re–recorded and featured as a jingle for one of the restaurant's commercials. That theatrical look is not only displayed in their music videos, it is a part of their live show as well. They strive to create an experience like none other. "We have an unconventional production for indie rock band. We want to create an evening that's special and out of the ordinary, not the typical show" said Barnes. Boytim agrees that this show will be very special for Bears and Shreveport. "This is a very unique opportunity to see these guys in probably the smallest venue they are going to play all tour. They have an incredible light show and stage performance that will set this show apart from any show we will have had thus far. This will be the most incredible show we have had to date" he said. Concert goers can expect music from the past eight of Montreal records and new material in 70–90 minutes set.

  • 3. Emo Subculture THE EMO SUBCULTURE Aspects of Contemporary Society Emo, short for Emotional; this group is generally constructed as a group of teenagers who desperately try to escape the social class they have been put into. Mostly an underground scene the term "Emo" began as a music genre in the mid 1980's with a group of bands set on redefining punk rock music. They based their music on emotions and feelings and this quickly spread throughout America. This lasted until the early 2000's when the bases turned to (some say) over–the–top emphasis on self expression and negative connotations were implied; emotion and sadness thus stereotyping the word we so often hear today. With this derogatory, implications followed. Emos began to be marginalized due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Linday states in the text piece "If you're beautiful, brainy, wealthy or sporty, you're probably OK. If you're just an ordinary kid, not outstanding at anything, the world can be a pretty unpleasant place." Putting in place the ideology that if your not "beautiful, brainy, wealth or sporty then you don't have a place in society or are more ceceptable to become emo. She backs this up with further statements such as "In the old world, teenagers who weren't academic stars were already in the workforce and earning respect" & "Kids who feel inadequate can become bullies, or get bullied. For those who are bullied, their feelings of inadequacy are entrenched by regular humiliation." Portarying Emos as generally bullied, non academic teenagers who seek to individualise and remove them selfs from contempory society. Counseling is available for children. Recent news stories have drawn accusatory attention to a subculture known as "Emo". The movement can involve talking about self doubt and issues of being in pain and not understanding the way the world is. • 5. Analysis Of The Article ' Sounds Of L.a ' This quarter, the Arts and Entertainment section of U.C.L.A.'s student newspaper The Daily Bruin is running a music column titled "Sounds of L.A." This column explores how various Los Angeles neighborhoods influence musicians that are based in the city. Including the rock 'n' roll landmark of Laurel Canyon, the modern indie beacon of Echo Park, and the rough–and–tumble underground punk scene of East L.A., Los Angeles has birthed hundreds of artists across all genres. I am the writer of The Daily Bruin's "Sounds of L.A." column, and the more time I spend interviewing and researching these musicians, the more I wonder if the causal arrow actually points in a different direction. While the history and atmosphere of Los Angeles's various neighborhoods could influence the artists that call the city home, it is more likely that these musicians are affecting the areas they inhabit, creating communities that reflect their collective mindsets. It is the artists who shape these neighborhoods and turn each section of Los Angeles into areas with individual personalities, using their music to communicate en mass the image and culture that they are promoting. Laurel Canyon is known for its historic rock 'n' roll past, a narrative that began in the 1960s when artists like Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young first moved into the Hollywood Hills. Today, musicians travel from across the globe to be inspired by the nature and spirit that shaped these rock icons. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Drums Album Summertime The Drums are an American indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York. When the group moved from Kissimmee, Florida to New York, they immediately got the attention of the indie world when their album Summertime was released. The album Summertime is a collection of beach pop fantasy with tracks that are filled with sentimental yearning that really sweeps over an individual. They became an irresistible and popular band in the summer of 2009. The Summertime record has become the perfect upbeat and post–punk summer fling album to have. The founding members of The Drums are Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham who have been friends since they were children. Several years after being friends they created a short lived electro pop group called Goat Explosion. Afterwards Jonny Pierce developed the Elkland group and Jacob Graham formed the Horse Shoes group. When Elkland parted ways in May 2006 Jonny decided to stop creating music for a few years. In 2008 Jonny and Jacob met back up and created the group The Drums. At that time they hired drummer Conner Hanwick and guitarist Adam Kessler. In October of 2009 their very first album was released called Summertime. In September 2010 it was broadcasted that Adam Kessler had left the band. According to the remaining members it was devastating at first when Kessler left with no clear circumstances. This in turn introduced Chris Stein on drums and Myles Matheny doing backup vocals as well as guitar. A couple of weeks later Pierce announced the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pop Song 'Riptide' "Riptide" is an awesome indie folk and indie pop song with a fun riff, beachy feel, steady tempo and very is unique to other songs. It was created by Vance Joy, who had been working on the song for about four years. He started in 2008, and during an interview, he had said, "The words came to me without meaning," although a few lyrics relate to his personal life, such as "I was scared of dentists and the dark, I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations," where he was actually a shy kid, but the he liked the literation "dentists and the dark" and thought it worked well. "Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you've ever seen," was because he really likes Michelle Pfeiffer, and "cowboy running from himself" was from the movie, Midnight Cowboy. These lyrics, which seem to have no meaning, have actually became very catchy, and could get stuck in your head for days. Some people have thought it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was released in September 5, 2014, in Australia, and on September 9 worldwide. The album had peaked at one in Australia, two in the US and in Canada, and 20 in the UK. They have sold over 3,000,000 units over the span of three years since it came out. This song has really stood out from other songs because of how people can interpret the song their way. Some can think of the lyrics as just gibberish, but others have believed it to be a story. One person thought of it as his best friend became rich, left her, and now he is getting angry. Another thought it was a guy writing a love song to a girl he wants to ask out. People can turn the song into whatever they want it to mean, as there is so many ways that you can understand the song, which makes it different. "Riptide" is a very interesting, fun song with great melody, musical hook, intriguing lyrics, with a strong beat, and I highly recommend this song to anyone who is interested in different, unique ... The style of indie and alternative music helped form these generations and represent how they act today. Music affects generations in every way possible. Generations Y and Z are very diverse compared to the other generations. These generations could be more diverse because of the music that influenced them throughout their lives. Alternative and Indie music began in the early 80's and late 70's. The rise of Indie music was inspired by the underground punk rock scene. Alt/indie didn't become popular until the 90's because it was so underground and unheard of. The musicians were called "alternative" because they were independent and unsigned artists. Today Indie rock is still not as popular as mainstream artists. Alternative musicians stick to their roots and remain underground. The future of alternative music is looking bright. With more artists making alternative music the genre is becoming more popular. The sub genres of alternative and indie music is what truly forms the genre as a whole. Indie rock is a term that represents artists who remain unsigned to major record labels. Punk rock is very similar to indie rock but it is more intense. • 9. The Song Cherry Wine By Indie Rock Artist In the song "Cherry Wine", written and performed by indie rock artist Hozier, it becomes apparent early on that this is not what one might consider a typical love song; nor is it about a typical woman. Although the acoustic guitar and softer melody paint a peaceful picture, the lyrics express that there is something much deeper that lies beneath its surface. From beginning to end, every verse about this woman and his relationship with her is a contradiction, which immediately sets the tone for the way he feels being with her: it's a battle. While most love songs are written in hopes of appealing to a wide audience, Hozier simply writes about the faults he has found in his own relationship and how, regardless, he can't seem to walk away. Although Hozier continuously professes his love for this woman throughout this song, there are still darker lyrics and elements that should be acknowledged as well. The second verse begins with this line: "Calls of guilty fall on me/ All while she stains the sheets of some other." It's very clear in this lyric that this woman has continuously accused him of being unfaithful to her all while it is implied that she is the one who has been unfaithful. It is not just coincidence that, a few lines before, Hozier says "It looks ugly, but it's clean. Oh mama, don't fuss over me," which suggests that his friends and family are concerned about this relationship but he insists that it isn't as bad as it looks. It's interesting how these two verses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay About Rock "Our rock," Inez proclaimed. "What I imagine you two probably didn't think at all about was... what was truly going to happen to our rock when we fired the magnetron. When the magnetron sent its microwaves into the rock, they actually went through it, hitting the iron plates on the other side, and were then reflected back our way where the Geiger Counter took a series of measurements of them. Those measurements were then analyzed by my program and then given to us." Inez hit another command on his keyboard bringing up a new screen. Before all three of them now appeared what seemed like endless rows and columns of ones and zeroes, each row in groups of eight numbers. "What you're looking at is what's called bytes," Inez stated. We'll get all of this out there when the time is right and we'll make everybody have to listen to us then." "Yeah, I guess, you're right," Phillip agreed reluctantly. "Hey, man, do you want to see something else that's really cool?" asked Inez hoping shuffled the conversation to a brighter note. "Yeah, what?" Phillip asked, sounding a bit eager. "Well, if this experiment was anything like the first one I did yesterday, then we should have one more result." "What is it?" asked Cassidy, Inez's revelation having also recaptured her attention. "Well, this is kind of freaky if it happened, so be forewarned," Inez avowed. Summing up the courage, he then complied, making his way over to where the rock still sat atop Inez's computer desk. Slowly, he reached out a timid hand, cautious to touch the stone. • 11. Modern Indie Music Movement Imagine the discovery of an art form so abstract and different, one of which possessed with strange ideals and seemingly free artists to create and dispose at their will. These are the basic attributes of what we call independent, or indie, music. Independent music is a movement meant to represent the opposition of being trite – an anti–establishment "fuck you" to the mass marketing of originality. Independent music started as bands that were on small and relatively low–budget labels that had a do–it–yourself attitude and retained an outsider and underground perspective. From then on, the conversation changed from how the music was made to how the music sounds, such as containing abstract or non–mainstream themes, instruments, lyrics, etc..... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of these artists were R.E.M., Pixies, and The Smiths from the UK, a band that helped inspire the guitar–based genre jangle pop. Around this time in the United States, the term indie was particularly associated with the intense, distortion–heavy sounds of the Pixies, HГјsker DГј, Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Dinosaur Jr., and The Replacements. The 1990's proceeded to bring massive changes to the indie rock scene. Grunge (a subgenre of rock that fuses elements of punk rock, heavy metal, and distorted electric guitar) bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Hole, and Alice in Chains broke into the mainstream, achieving commercial chart success and widespread exposure. As a result of indie rock bands moving into the mainstream, the term "indie" lost its original counter–cultural context and began to refer to the new, commercially more accessible form of music that was now achieving mainstream success. It has been argued that the term "sellout" lost its meaning as grunge made it possible for a small movement, no matter how radical, to be commercialized by the mainstream, solidifying the formation of an individualist, fragmented ... • 12. Alternative Rock Music Music junkies, concert connoisseurs, and vinyl vigilantes everywhere need to know about the similarities and differences between the alternative rock and indie rock genres. The genres alternative and indie are terms sometimes used interchangeably, but their origins are indeed differing. There has been a varying progression of media platforms used to listen to these genres among the past few decades due to society's social and economic changes. In terms of instrumental progressions and technological buildups in the music world, the instruments and stylings used to define these genres has changed as well. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, alternative rock is defined as "a style of rock music characterized as unconventional, or outside the mainstream which resonated powerfully with a generation weathering an economic recession." Conversely, Oxford explains the term indie as "the deliberately unpolished or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would choose to define alternative rock as music that has heavy metal influenced rhythms, with the use of electric guitars and bass drums, but conveys a lighter, upbeat feel, and uses meaningful lyrics. Alternative rock emerged in the late 80's and early 90's when the United States was facing an economic recession and in a post–war state. The songs alternative rock artists wrote during this time tended to be more melancholy in sound, and carry out the use of lyrics about the struggles society as a whole, and the artists as individuals were facing due to this social and economic decline. These lyrics were relatable for listeners and adequately helped them cope with the strife. These artists, more often than note were signed by more widely–known record labels. Even as Alex moves from place to place, the settings match up. At the beginning of chapter seven of part three, Alex is once again sitting in the Korova Milkbar with three other friends. At this point, the story seems to come full circle and creates a sense of DГ©jГ vu since the setting of the first page was the same place. Burgess begins to incorporate a sense of change in the last chapter when Alex explains "the heighth of fashion, which in those days was these very wide trousers and a very loose black shiny leather like jerkin over an open–necked shirt with a scarf tucked in" (Burgess 201). • 14. Music 's Music On Pop Music Most of the music on the radio today sounds very similar, and even those that sound a bit different still have the same subject matter. It seems that the lyrics to songs don't matter much in pop culture, judging by the songs played on pop radio that involve sex, drugs, and partying. Those like me who truly have passion for music realize that lyrics are, in fact, important, if not the most important part of a song. Those that are as passionate about music as I am tend to appreciate a song more if its melody is nice and its lyrics are meaningful, rather than one or the other. Most of the overplayed music on pop radio has lyrics that take less deep thinking than adding two plus two. On the other hand, less–popular genres of music, including indie and alternative, two genres much less likely to be found on pop radio, incorporate some of these same themes –– drugs, sex, and partying are still referenced in genres other than pop, and I refuse to lie and tell you all indie and alternative music is completely innocent and wholesome –– it definitely isn't. But the themes that occur constantly in pop music are translated into these genres in a way that means something far more in–depth. For example, where a song like "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus blatantly states the lyric "dancing with Molly" and talks about how she and her friends can do whatever they want because they're high at a party, a song like "The A Team" by Ed Sheeran–– yes, this song does play on the radio, and yes, I do ... • 15. Indie Music Research Paper Throughout the past 20 years indie music has slowly but surely emerged as a new and influential genre of popular music. It has secured its place in the world and has even branched off into subgenres such as indie rock, and indie pop. Indie music has clearly changed not only the music industry but also societies view of what can be considered music. As a result it created a home for artists who didn't fit into any other genres that already existed. It became more than just a new genre because of its unique roots and constant theme of independence that draws in artists and listeners with the same do it yourself attitude. In the mid 1980's the term "indie" started being associated with post–punk, punk and college rock. Both UK and US played equally important roles in shaping indie music as a whole. The main difference between the UK and the US response to the overwhelming amount of indie artists was that in the UK it was easier for the artists to get national attention (History Of Indie–Rock, 2009). That didn't stop US artists from perusing their music. Indie music originated as an underground do–it–your–self rebellion. All of a sudden bands started showing up that were not particularly special in the sense that they didn't have amazing musical skills or singers with voices like Frankie Valli or Elvis but they wanted to... Characteristics And Characteristics Of The Mineral Lazurite There are a myriad of minerals, gemstones, and rocks throughout the world with each having select features and characteristics that differentiate one another. When selecting a mineral to conduct a research report on, one could be drawn to Lazurite for a multitude of factors whether it be the aesthetically pleasing appearance or the various ways it has been incorporated throughout history. Therefore, one can define such a magnificent mineral by characteristics and historical application for which humans have tended to gravitate towards. First and foremost, the mineral Lazurite has many scientifically definable features. For example, in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale, Lazurite falls within the range of 5–5.5 which is about the halfway point between the weakest minerals and the strongest. As for another feature of Lazurite, the color usually falls in an array of blues from light to dark and sometimes green or even violet. When Lazurite is ground into a powder formally known as a streak, it brings forth the true color of the mineral and blue seems to be the case. When referring to the luster, one can define three different characteristics such as a vitreous, greasy, and waxy appearance. The luster is an illumination of the reflected light upon the surface space of the mineral. Therefore in terms of luster, it would be classified as a nonmetallic due to vitreous (glassy) or greasy appearance. • 30. The Rock Of Pop Rock 2000's Due to pop music 's popularity, rock experienced a diminished presence on the top 40 music chart by the end of the decade, though the genre still sold well. In the early 2000s, there was an astounding resurgence of interest in pop rock. This began in the year 2000 with the success of Blink–182 's song "All the Small Things" and Nine Days 's song "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)", both of which peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Pop rock is a genre that mixes catchy pop lyrics with rock–based instrumentation. The characteristics of pop rock are: it appeals to a general audience, rather than to a sub–culture. 'Hound Dog' was the beginning of Elvis Presley's rock music career with songs such as jailhouse rock following. Presley brought a whole new type of fun to music with his unique style of dancing along with his upbeat loud songs. It is believed that the way Presley's songs reached out to young listeners was the kick start needed to shape rock into what it became in the late 1950's onwards. THE BEATLES The Beatles music was the start of modern pop rock, as we know it today. From infectious melodies of innocent love to introspective Middle Eastern influences, psychedelic musings and talk of revolution The Beatles were the house band of the 1960s, paralleling, and at times even spearheading, the turbulent decade. They received amazing amounts of praise from people all over the world with one of the biggest fan bases seen in that era. This changed the way people viewed musicians and allowed rock music to become even more mainstream and popular. In the later years, The Beatles brought their music into the psychedelic rock genre with hits such as 'I Am The Walrus' and 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. "Radiometric dating is the determination of age by using radioactivity, has become geology's best tool for establishing absolute geologic time" (Shipman, Todd, & Wilson 704). The weather was much colder, and the neighborhoods were not the same as the ones in Los Angeles. It was as if I were in a whole other dimension. When we arrived at the new house, it felt different as well. The exterior of the house looked more modern, and the smell of the flowers surrounding it was delightful. It didn't look as old as the house I lived in before. The neighbors greeted us and gave us a welcome basket full of cookies, chips, and much more. As I stepped foot into the house, I noticed that there was no longer wood crackling each time I would walk. The house smelt as if you had just bought a new car, and it was a lot bigger. On the other hand, meeting all these new faces was not too bad. Everyone appeared to be very friendly, and the teacher, as well as the other students were very welcoming. By the time the bell rung, I was very excited, as my mother prepared food for me to eat when I got home. While I was walking home, I ended up getting lost because I didn't know which way I was going due to the reason that I wasn't used to this route. I heard twigs breaking behind me as I walked. It was suspicious, but I figured that it was just a squirrel in the trees since the school was surrounded with a lot of trees, so I just kept walking. Not so dark you couldn't see anything, but dark enough that you couldn't see anything five feet in front of you. In front of me was our brave teacher, Mrs. Leys, behind me was my friend Jake. Beside me was my friend Neha. We were terrified, clutching each other hands, we slowly made our way through the rocky dark forest. Until, we came to a ginormous vertically angled rock were Neha and I were struggling to make it through. First we saw Mrs. Leys slowly slide down like a slide, Neha and I were petrified. We could see the beautiful shining lake while the glowing moon reflected off it, you could almost taste the frigid lake water, the dirt was soft and squishy, but not like mud, there was no smell except the sweet smell of the chilling flowers and trees around us. Neha and I attempted to climb over the rock. That was an awful attempt. We saw that Mrs. Leys had slid down the hill so Neha and I tried that. I got down first, next came Neha, she slid down and I caught her at the end, next came Jake and he just jumped down like it was any normal day. Neha and I were so relieved that we made it through alive. That was only the first rock sadly. The next one came a couple metres after the fist one. Everything Dali Paints Symbolizes Something Else Essay Dali's Vision The painting "Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate A Second Before Awakening" was painted by Dali in 1944. The painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension of 51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In his masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself symbolizes something in the world. The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals, the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock is repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or more explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The rock that she is floating above represents moral principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the support of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of battle are about to descend upon the people like a downpour. The evil and horrors came from the sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what has been said. Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant, with its long legs and its great load, characterizes the worldly greed, which also differed from the traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like the woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to mangle and kill the woman. Henceforth, Dali's "Caused by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Review Of David M. Greenberg Et Al Divided People And... Your Choice of Music Can Reveal Your Personality One's taste in music is at the top of the list when it comes to topics that can cause a heater argument. Musical preferences are sacred to most people and we tend to divide into small tribes over music, considering the other tribes as less sophisticated. Interestingly, your music choices are not a random grouping – your tribe isn't determined by where your friends go. Instead, your personality and the music you like are interlinked, both influencing each other. Three thinking groups and their musical choices A 2015 study by David M. Greenberg et al divided people's thinking into three separate thinking styles: the empathizers, the systemizers and the balanced. Each thinking style tended to favor different type of music, allowing the researchers to predict what music the person likes simply by understanding their thinking style. Empathizers feel connected to others, they have strong emotions and they base their decision–making often on emotional values. On the other hand, systemizers think more rationally. They are calm and composed in their decision–making. As you might suspect, the balanced thinkers are a mixture of both these styles. First, the empathizers were shown to prefer mellow music – low energy, sad emotions and emotional depth. The people in this group were therefore associating with genres such as soft rock, indie music and R&B. For the systemizers, this type of music wasn't appealing. They were looking for a ... By using the word 'VS' also gives the impression of fighting and violence, which is known to be a very masculine tendency as it relates to dominance and control, two things men aspire to become. The word alternative in the dictionary translates to unconventional, uncommon, and non–standard, which is so cool because all the music is under the same genre umbrella, but none of the bands sound the same at all, and I like to think of it as the melting pot of music. Since each band has a different style it is likely you'll be able to find something you enjoy. Consumerism In Oh Wonder American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, ""Our society is falling back increasingly on rampant consumerism and self–promoting social media as a way for people to feel that their lives matter – self–centered means of numbing the questions of mattering." In a world caught up in mass media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face–to–face conversation, hate is easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still "interact". According to Dolan, "Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution." In the case of the band Oh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion. Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from London England. Starting off in a separate band and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. Modern popular music has gotten worse, and that has always been the case, however there are a plethora of other genres and styles of music that still carry that authenticity and creativeness that we're missing. Most of the reason for lack of creativity in music is corporate greed. Large companies like to release less inspired songs because they bring in the largest profits.
