Transition day punch list - New management
 Provide at least $100 in till for making change at the start of the day-otherwise
customers may be restricted to "correct change" or "checks" purchases.
Usually 50 one's, 10 fives, at least a roll of pennies and quarters, and two rolls
of nickels and dimes.
 Call the phone company to convert the billing and phone number to the new
ownership - otherwise the line will be closed.
 Call the credit card company to set up account to the new ownership - until
then only cash or checks can be accepted.
 Call the insurance companies to make sure all appropriate insurance policies
are in effect effective the transition date.
 Make sure the store has at least two employees each day to handle the sales
and incoming consignment items - otherwise no incoming consignment can
be accepted for processing.
 Make sure daily opening, closing, sales reconciliation, employee time records,
and deposit procedures are in place.
 Be sure any construction workers or tradesmen provide safety barriers to
prevent injury if there will be concurrent construction and/or renovations
during business hours. The store owner usually provides "caution" signs.
 Make arrangements for new keys and/or locks for the store.

 Remove cash, checks, and credit card slips, to make final deposit.
 Remove Jan 1 through Mar 31st sales slips.
 Make copies of all current contracts and other appropriate records.
 Prepare interim payment checks to consignors with current contracts for
consignment credit up through the transition date.
 Prepare a package for the bookkeeper to track income, taxes and expenses
for the period from Jan 1,2003 to the transition date. Tom needs to prepare
Jan's1099, quarterly income tax (1/1 through 3/31), and sales tax owed.
 Cancel phone, credit card account, insurance policies by phone - follow up
with FAX or letter as appropriate, including account #'s
 Solicit final reconciliation with land lord for all fees owed up through transition

 Make sure Town of Acton is aware of D.B.A. change. with phone call - follow
up with FAX or letter as appropriate. Arrange for any rebates as appropriate.
 Make sure all appropriate creditors, D&B, and suppliers are notified of
ownership change. - follow up with letter or FAX as appropriate.
 Make sure post office has change of address cards.
 Surrender keys and other records as appropriate.
 Remove any remaining personal property.
