Cluster headache is a rare primary headache disorder that mainly affects young males over 20 years old. It causes severe, one-sided headaches around the eye that last 30-180 minutes, often occurring at night or waking the person from sleep, and can happen several times per day. Diagnosis is made through medical history and examination to rule out other causes, and the drug of choice for treatment is sumatriptan.

3. Clinical Features:
■ Mainly young males > 20 years
■ Unilateral orbital region
■ Severe boring episodic 30-180 min, often at night (can
wake from sleep), can be several attacks per day.

4. ■ Precipitated by Alcohol for some.
■ Family history is uncommon.
■ Vascular changes on affected side (lacrimation/nasal
congestion).

5. • Diagnosis will depend on taking
medical history, physical
examination and ruling out other
causes of headache.

6. Drug of choice for treatment:
Sumatriptan
