Church of Saint Marco Evangelista
Costruita nel 1695, è stata dedicata nel 1700 a San Marco Evangelista, patrono di Rionero. Fino al 1728 è
stata introdotta la navata centrale, ma in seguito venne ricostruita completamente secondo la struttura
attuale a croce latina, con la facciata in stile barocco a tre navate. Nel 1798 ebbe il titolo di "Arcipretura
Collegiata di San Marco Evangelista", retta da regole e norme restrittive. I terremoti del 1851, 1930 e 1980
hanno gravemente danneggiato la struttura, più volte restaurata

2. Costruito nel luogo dove era situata l'antica chiesa di Santa Maria di Rivonigro, cuore del primitivo nucleo
abitativo di Rionero, scomparso nella prima metà del 1300, Nel 1530 e'stato adibita a parrocchia rurale
albanese, in cui venne praticato il rito greco fino al 1627, quando il vescovo di Melfi, Diodato Scala
introdusse il rito latino. In origine l'edificio era costituito da una sola navata , nel 1794 venne ampliato con
l'aggiunta delle navate laterali. Nel 1826 la "Confraternita dei Morti" ha fatto sostituire il vecchio
campanile con un altro a base quadrata, restaurato nel 2004, dopo essere stato danneggiato dal terremoto
del 1980. Nella sagrestia è conservata una tela del XVI secolo, "La Madonna con il Bambino e San
Giovannino" di Luca Giordano.

there was a meeting between Louis of Armagnac, Duke of Nemours and Fernandez Consalvo of Cordova,
the supreme commanders of the French and Spanish armies, which met to decide the partition of the
Kingdom of Naples. A demonstration is a plaque outside the church which commemorates this meeting.

5. Originariamente cappella privata fatta costruire da don Leonardo De Martinis per la sua famiglia nel 1769 in
onore di San Nicola di Bari era costituito da una sola navata e l'altare per la Madonna di Caravaggio.

Fortunate palace
E’ il più importante edificio della città. Fu costruito agli inizi del '700 e fu la residenza di un personaggio
molto importante per la storia del sud Italia. Qui il 1807 sostò il re Giuseppe Bonaparte, nel corso di un
viaggio da Venosa a Valva, e Ferdinando di Borbone, che, a perduto il potere, ha dovuto raggiungere Melfi.
Nel 1970, il Palazzo Fortunato è stato acquistato dall’ amministrazione comunale e, attualmente, ospita la
Biblioteca Comunale ed è centro di numerose manifestazioni culturali.
It 's the most important building in the city. It was built in early 700 and was the residence of a very
important personage in the history of southern Italy: Giustino Fortunato. Here, in 1807 stopped the king
Joseph Bonaparte, during a trip from Venosa to Valva, and Ferdinand of Bourbon, who, lost power, had to
