2. Teacher Philosophy
• Teach them well and let them
lead the way...
Every classroom presents a unique
community of learners that varies not
only in abilities, but also in learning
styles. My role as a teacher is to
provide students tools with which to
cultivate their own gardens of
knowledge.
3. About Ms. Trotter
• Holds a Master’s Degree in English
• Graduated from Jackson State
University
• Loves to write poetry
• Reading out loud in class was one of
my biggest fears (don’t worry it gets
better with time)
• I AM HUMAN. I AM NOT PERFECT.
I MAKE MISTAKES AS WELL!!!!

5. Starting the Day
• Breakfast is between 7:00-7:50 each
morning.
• Class starts at 8:10
• Please do not bring food or drinks to the
classroom.
• Have pencils sharpened and be in your seat
before the bell rings.
• Please use the bathroom prior to coming to
class.
• First period will not be given a pass to the
bathroom so please don’t ask.
6. Things to keep at your desk
• Materials that you will need for
my class that should be at your
desk at all times: a inch binder,
paper, pencil and or pen,
notebook, textbook
7. What not to keep at your desk
• Book bags - all book bags are to
placed at the front of the room in
the designated section before the
bell sounds
• Toys, phones, and all other
electronics. These items will be
confiscated and can only be
retrieved by a parent. (This is
your one and only warning
about electronics)
8. BATHROOM
• Each teacher is assigned a bathroom
time. Ms. Trotter’s class goes at 10:25
a.m. I can tell time very well so there
isn’t a need for clock-watchers.
• If there is an EMERGENCY and you
have to go before or after your
scheduled time simply raise your hand
maneuvering two fingers and I will
handle accordingly. Key word is
EMERGENCY!!!!!
9. DURING CLASS
• Listen when Ms. Trotter is talking.
There is absolutely no talking while I'm
talking
• Be respectful when classmates are
reading or speaking
• Please don’t correct others when they
mispronounce a word. Leave that to
Ms. Trotter.
• Please don’t not laugh or make fun of
another classmate if they
mispronounce a word or answer a
question incorrectly

• Do not speak out of turn
• If you would like to be acknowledged
quietly raise your hand and keep it
raised until a person is selected
• Do not shout out answers to questions
• No talking across the room
• There is no sleeping during class
• If you are not feeling well I will give
you an opportunity to call your parent
or guardian
• Unless otherwise instructed

13. CLASSROOM RULES
• Remain in your seat at all times.
Pencils are to be sharpened
before class. Trash is to be held
until the end of class.
• No tossing paper into the trash
can from across the room. This is
English not gym.
• No talking unless otherwise
instructed.
• If you are tardy you will need a
pass to enter the classroom.

• Profanity and explicit content
discussions are PROHIBITED!!!
• Absolutely no eating or drinking.
• Respect one another’s personal
space. (keep your hands and feet
to your self)
• No horse playing.
• No combing one another’s hair or
applying make up during class.

• No sagging pants. (Goes for
both ladies and gentlemen)
• Ms. Trotter’s desk is off limits
(you are not to be near my desk
with or without permission)

Office Referral
• Fighting
• Stealing
• Attempting to fight/ Bullying
• Weapons
• Drugs
• Disrespecting authority
• Habitual disobedience
• Sexual contact (includes touching,
kissing, grinding, fondling, and all
other contact deemed inappropriate by
administration)
18. REWARDS
• Educational game on last day of
instruction
• Student of the month
• Trotter bucks to purchase items
from treasure box
• Name goes into raffle for a $15
gift card each month
19. EXITING RULES
• The bell does not dismiss the class, Ms.
Trotter does.
• When the bell rings remain in your seats
and Ms. Trotter will dismiss the class by
rows.
• When we walk down the hall as a class,
we walk to the right side of the hall
quickly and quietly one behind the other
in a single file line.
• Any time we line up for anything we will
line up by rows (inside the class) and
walk to the right side of the hall quickly
and quietly one behind the other in a
single file line.
20. GRADING POLICY
• Assessments - 40% of grade
• Homework - 30% of grade
• Classwork - 25% of grade
• Participation - 5% of grade
• GRADES ARE EARNED NOT
GIVEN SO PLEASE DON’T
EXPECT ME TO GIVE POINTS
FREELY!!!!!!!
• Extra credit given at my
discretion
