1. Evaluate wiki technology as e-learning tool from the
point view of Al-Baha University students: A pilot study
with undergraduate students in both faculties of Science
and Education

2. Introduction
 The Ministry of Higher Education has established new
universities, called emerging universities, to meet the increase
in the numbers of students, Al-Baha University (ABU) is one
these universities established in 2006.
 The learning style at ABU is the traditional method (lecture).
 In recent years, some universities and educational institutions
have provided commercial Learning Management Systems
(LMS) such as Blackboard, WebCT, and Tadarus (which is an
Arabic-language LMS) to facilitate online learning and
teaching.

3. The main aspects of this study
 The study is an attempt to investigate the potential use of wiki
technology at ABU through the students’ point views.
 The study seeks to answer the question. To what extent can be
used wiki technology as a learning style at ABU from
students’ point view?
 The study relied on four axes related to the use of wiki in
learning in general, and the use of wiki in Saudi education in
particular.

4. Study Axis
 First axis: Determine Students’ Possibility to use the
Computer and their skills on the Internet.
 Second axis: Identify the extent of students' awareness
of wiki technology and its Main Characteristics.
 Third axis: The desire of students to learn via the wiki
technology compare with the current learning style.
 Forth axis: Evaluate the Role of ABU with Regard to E-
Learning.

5. Study Methodology
 The data collected through the interviewer-administered
questionnaire, this method designed and developed by
the researcher.
 Study population and sample. Students at ABU
represents the population of this study.
 The sample was 25 students from two colleges at ABU
participated in this study ( students in the college of
Science and Education).
 The data were analysed by SPSS programme with
descriptive explanation.

6. Findings
 The findings inducted to:
 Students tend to study via the new learning method
which is the wiki system.
 They preferred to learn collaboratively.
 ABU suffers from the weakness of the internet service
and the unavailability of computers in some classrooms.
 Students believe that the reason behind this is that ABU
is one of the Saudi emerging universities.
