2. About indie rock music
• In popular music, independent music, often shortened to
indie music or "indie", is a term used to describe
independence from major commercial record labels and an
autonomous, Do-It-Yourself approach to recording and
publishing. Usually music that isn't mainstream and not
included in the charts. They are usually bands/artists that
appear at festivals and can be described as rock music
3. Indie rock music in magazines
As you can tell from the magazines below, there are a few which are
aimed at readers who like indie music. Examples of magazines are
the NME, Q and mojo magazine. We can tell that they are ‘indie’
magazines because of the bands and artists they use on the front
cover which are usually rock indie bands. Also the content of the
magazines usually include interviews which bands/artists and
album reviews which I will take into consideration when designing
my indie magazine.

6. Interview
This interview with the Arctic
Monkeys is at a festival in
America. The interviewer asks
the band members Alex and
Matt about how they got the
idea for their video for their
new song ‘r u mine’. Alex the
band member on the left then
goes on to explain how they got
the idea and then they both
briefly explain how they feel
about the festivals in America.
Throughout the whole of the
short interview it is fairly
relaxed and informal because of
the style of questions. They also
have a bit of a joke about how

are.
