• Students to produce the front page, contents
page and double page spread of a new music
magazine. (photoshop will be used for image
manipulation and indesign will be used for
page layout and design features on contents
page article)
3. Magazine covers
I like these magazine covers because they create a powerful image of the
magazine. The use of black and white images is very effective because it
almost portrays the second coming of the two artists; Nirvana and Oasis
(Noel Gallagher). And the use of a blue background on ‘Vibe’ is really
effective because it creates a attractive feature and eliminates any
distractions in the background to keep the attention on Rihanna.
4. Magazine contents pages
These three contents pages are effective because they use several images on there to
maintain that visual effect and allow the reader to see what kind of things will be in the
magazine as well as using only text to portray this. I also like the one from Kerrang because
they organise the contents page into different sections to make it more easy to distinguish
what kind of features it includes. The Q magazine is particularly effective because it
maintains a certain colour scheme and only uses colours such as red, black and white.
5. These three double page spreads are effective
in that the images are quite prominent and
are given a main focus in that the text is
positioned around them. Also, all three of
them use certain colour schemes making the
pages look very consistent, neat and
organised. I like how Kerrang have used
several images on their double page spread
because it makes it seem more like it’s telling
a story. And all of them have used pictures
that are black and white which make the
images look much more effective and
sophisticated and striking.
