Collective Mining | Corporate Presentation - May 2024
Task 4 double page spread
1. The main image shows the entire Coldplay band in a
medium close up. The shot shows the band members
not giving direct address to the camera and looking
away. The image also shows all of the band mates
smiling when around one another. This shows the
target audience the camaraderie that the band has
when around one another. Meanwhile, the image
suggest that the band are best friends, while by
showing the band smiling when around one another it
gives the audience the feeling of what they are like
when they are with their friends, therefore creating a
parallel between real life and what has been captured
within the photo. However, the colour that is
displayed shows the happiness that the band is feeling
when around one another, which when displayed with
the title of the article, shows that the magazine is
trying to get rid of the stereotypes of bands always
having arguments an d wanting to break up because
they cannot stand to be around one another.
Meanwhile, the image has a plain white background.
A lack of mise-en-scene has been used so that the
target audience is focused on the band and so that it
clearly shows that the band has never been happier to
work together. The image also creates a target
audience, as the light colours show that the article is
for a young adult audience, of an age of 16-21,while
being for both genders but prominently male, who go
to school and enjoy going out to listen to concerts of a
weekend and of a night.
Throughout the article grab quotes have been used to show what the band has been saying throughout. The grab
Quotes have been used to show what kind of things that band has been saying. This has been used so that when
the target audience looks inside to look at the article, they can see what kind of things that the band has been
saying and see whether they would find what the band is saying to be interesting or not. However, the grab quotes
have also been used to display the different thoughts and feelings of different people of the band. This has been
used to show to the audience that the article is not just about Chris martin, which is what so people would have
expected since he is the most famous and the person in the spotlight from the band. However, the grab quotes
have been used mainly to show how the article talks about a range of different topics about the band. This is has
been shown when the article says “I feel so blessed. I’m in a band I really f**cking love.” This shows that the article
goes other the feelings of Chris martin about being in the band. Meanwhile the quote “Any break up is sad,
especially when there’s kids involved. But if you’re lucky, you can turn it into a blessing rather than a war.” This
show that the article goes other the individuals’ life’s outside of the band, especially Chris martins’ as it is a topic
that the fans would like to read about through Chris rather than newspaper and magazine articles. Furthermore,
the magazine also displays another topic of who the bands favourite artists and who they look up to as well as who
are they interested in at the moment. This can be shown as the article says “I genuinely love Oasis and I also
genuinely love Beyoncé. My body gets the same pleasure.”
As well as this, the article is shown to
have a title saying “ how Coldplay got
happy” This links to the main image as
the image shows the band smiling with
one another, therefore illustrating how
Coldplay are happy to be working
together again. As well as this, the title
and work happy is curved like a smiley
face. This further shows to the
audience that the band is happy to be
working together again. Also, the title
seems to be using a variety of different
colours that are blended together. This
matches with the colour scheme as the
main image shows the colourfulness of
the clothes that the band is wearing,
whilst elaborating on how the
members of the band felt when getting
back together and creating new music.
This is further illustrated on pages 26
and 32, as it shows the band with
colourful powder such as pink, yellow,
orange and blue across their bodies.
This links to the colour scheme as all of
those colours can be found in the
articles title as well as the main image.
