2. Topics
• Theory of Wealth and Information Technology
• Business Models in Information Technology
– Scope of Selected Models
• What Should I Do, Being an IT Student
• AQEEDA and DUA
3. Wealth and Money
• We start from going school daily, then join
college and ends up at university. Almost 8 hrs
daily commitment, for 16 years.
• This 16 years exercise develops a feeling, as
we again need to go somewhere daily to do
work (aka. job). Which is not correct.
• In fact its time we need to create wealth.
Which is not money. Money follows wealth.
• Wealth is what we need
4. Wealth and IT
• So the more people’s needs we fulfill (i.e. the
wealth we provide), the more money would
follow.
• If you make a Chair, you can’t sell same Chair
to even two customers
• If you make a software, you can sell it to
millions of customers. Its only in IT.
• Its only field you can start a business in, with
zero investment. And you alone are enough.
5. Business Models in IT
• Business or Earning Models: Order is important
– Make products for consumer web/mob/desktop market.
Same product, millions of users. Almost all billionaires in IT
industry followed this model.
– Work directly/indirectly for an individual client
– Working at fixed wages – Job stands here
• You would automatically switch to bottom option,
if you failed to utilize the earlier.
• Greater the distance from client, lesser the money
• Try to decouple your value creation from time
• If you can’t manage yourself, others will manage you
6. IT Jobs in Pakistan
Software and Web Development: 660 Jobs
9. What Should You Do,
Being an IT Student
• What we look when interview?
• Languages and technologies may (in fact, will) obsolete
• Strong Concepts (i.e. theoretical knowledge of CS)
– Algorithms as thinking paradigm (brute force, heuristics, greedy
algorithms, back tracking)
– Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns
– Good understanding of Network Protocols (e.g. TCP, IP, HTTP, UDP)
– Strong data structure knowledge (the underpinnings)
• Do some great projects during your studies (for
expertise, job, free lancing)
• Develop ability to learn, brainstorm, problem solving and
effective communication
