If you built your observatory at 45N, could you see stars at declination -10 Solution No, because the Earth rotates in a circle. These star trails exist because of the Earth\'s rotation, so if you were to look towards the North Star, it wouldn\'t move noticeably over time, as it is at the pole and the stars seem to orbit around that axis. The stars do move though, orbiting around the center of the galaxy, but it is a very slow process and the stars close to us move at around the same speed, so it\'s not noticeable..

These star trails exist because of the Earth's rotation, so if you were to look towards the North Star, it wouldn't move noticeably over time, as it is at the pole and the stars seem to orbit around that axis. The stars do move though, orbiting around the center of the galaxy, but it is a very slow process and the stars close to us move at around the same speed, so it's not noticeable.
