- 8. Build a quality app and gain a loyal customer following
- 9. Respond to feature requests... “I'd like to see the ability to add information on weaning, weight gain and expressing in the notes section...” ...& update regularly
- 10. This will help you gain visibility in a crowded shop window
- 11. Your app won’t make a fortune overnight. Embrace the Long Tail... on to the next one.
- 12. Tiny Garden is a learning & play experience for toddlers. It teaches first words in a playful context & supports multiple languages.

- Hello, my name is Argy and this is my colleague Petros. We are from milo creative. This is a short presentation about our recent venture into creating our own iPhone products.
- First a bit about us... We’ve created some great apps for some really big brands in the learning, children’s and entertainments sectors. We’ve been thinking of creating our own products for a while... and had been tinkering with a few ideas of our own.
- Then we became dads & lots of things changed!
- We decided that what we really wanted to do is make playful and helpful products for children & families. We felt confident that after all our years user testing ideas with this audience that we could do it for ourselves. We also love the iPhone.
- My first week back after paternity leave and we decided over lunch to make a app for new mums. Milk Monitor was born. From our initial concept it took us 10 weeks to get the app into the app store and available for download. Here’s a short video that gives you a taste of what milk Monitor does.
- So now we had made our first product and had to figure out how we were going to sell it! With over 150,000 items in the app store how are we going to get noticed? Well, we launched a Facebook Fanpage, set ourselves up on Twitter and got blogged about on Wired in the US and many other sites.
- Perhaps the most important thing with so many poor quality apps on the iPhone is to release a quality product and gain a loyal following. Good reviews help enormously. So far we have received nice feedback and some good ratings.
- We’ve also been releasing updates. Capturing feedback and implementing features requested by users.
- Releasing regular updates improves your ranking in the App Store. Following our latest update we managed to get to number 25 in the Medical category today - our highest ranking so far. This has doubled our sales.
- We don’t expect to get rich from our first app. We do, however expect to learn a lot that can be applied to the next one.
- We’ll be releasing our next App - Tiny Garden - in the next couple of weeks. It’s a learning & play experience for toddlers and parents. It teaches first words in a playful context and supports multiple languages. We’re also getting quicker - it took us a one month from concept to completion.
- And for the rest of the year we intend to release regularly and iteratively.
