Mongolian American Culture
Mongolia began as small tribes that was banded together into a state, by one of the worlds greatest warriors Genghis Khan in 1206. Today Mongolia,
has around 3 million people living there. Mongolia is country is land–locked and located between Russia and China. They rely on animals for their
main source of food. In Mongolia ninety percent of Mongolia speak Khalkha Mongolian.
There are three main religions in western Mongolia. The most dominant is Shamanism, which began in the 16th century. The second leading is
Iamaaisim, which from my understanding is a type of Buddhism. Following is Muslim and a small portion is Christian. Although Religion is different
than culture, it definitely influences the surrounding culture.

The First Part or Elkhedeg, slowly introduces the audience to the dance and the body of the performer. As the beat speeds up the arms open up and
the sholders move back and fourth and side to side, swaying as they move. At this time the legs are pretty still and lightly bent and almost motionless.
The second part of the Biteylee dance, is the Joroo Mori, This is when the dance becomes light and more up beat. The speed of the dance increases as
the music does.
The dance can be diverse, from how the legs are bent or the position of the arms, its is very versatile, through–out Western Mongolia.
The dance is not all about movement and music, it also has a strong attire that has a lot of history to the culture.
There are many parts to the womans attire, beginning with the white color also known as a deel. The deel has a stiff look and is flat against the
womans collar bone. A black and white hat is worn on a married woman. Underneath the hat there is a hair bag that connects to the hat to keep a
womans long hair out of the way and keep it clean. One of the most detailed aspects of the attire is the ring of Kerchiefs layed out on the side of the
hip. There are

Positive Effects Of The Mongol Empire
The Positive Effect of the Mongol Empire on the World The Mongols are a group of people that live north of present day China, in the Asian
Steppe. Although Mongolia is a pretty irrelevant nation now, Mongolia has had a huge impact on the world over the course of history. The
Mongols once controlled the largest connected empire in history. The Mongols were able to craft their empire in a small amount of time, for it
seemed that the Mongols' only purpose was to destroy and conquer. The Mongols were cruel in their battles, for they killed millions and destroyed
cities and civilizations in their conquests. Although, I believe the Mongolians of the Asian Steppe had a positive impact on the world during their
rule of the Asian continent from 1206 to 1368 by influencing trade, ideas, and unification. The amount of trade in Eurasia was significantly
boosted by the Mongol rule, specifically under the Pax Mongolica. The Pax Mongolica was a peace that spread throughout the Mongol empire,
allowing safe travel for people traveling from area to area. This included caravans, missionaries, and travelers, says page 333 of the textbook.
People were more freely able to travel than ever before thanks to the Pax Mongolica, which led to a major increase in trade and the Silk Road. The
Silk Road was a road hundreds of miles long that stretched across Asia. China, a large destination on the silk road, exported silk, hence the name, and
porcelain. These Chinese items were traded with people who

Summary Of ' Don 't Let It Happen ! ' Essay
You have to cut the stomach open, reach inside, and crush the windpipe," said the farmer, brandishing his knife along the goat's leg. We all nodded
in agreement, but my conscious was screaming, "Don't let it happen!" Before I could say a word, the farmer made an incision along the abdomen of
the goat, and stuck his hand in. The goat, naturally, screamed. As the farmer moved his hand through the wailing animal, I couldn't help but feel
nauseous. I turned away, hoping that it would all end soon. After sixty seconds of terror, it ended. I turned around, and all I saw was the farmer with
his bloodied hand, and the motionless goat with foam dripping from its mouth. My three friends were pale, and it was as if they had seen a ghost. So
that was that. In less than two minutes, an animal had ceased to exist. Everything went quiet, and it was just me, Jerry, Naidan, Uni and the farmer, all
standing in the field. Surrounded by colossal mountains, whose peaks kissed the clouds, we were standing there. All that remained was the sound of
the river, its current crisply flowing nearby. That is how the Mongolian countryside is. This is one of many stories that unfolded during my 10–day stay
in Mongolia with my friend Jerry Gross.
The Asia Pacific Institute (API), a Mongolian think tank, invited Jerry and me to Mongolia to learn about the country 's politics, foreign affairs,
history, and culture. When we received the invitation, we were excited, so we packed our bags and flew to Mongolia

Business Law Development Issues in Mongolia Mongolia is a developing country, which is encountering challenges to develop modern business law.
During the twentieth century, Mongolia had been a socialist country and developed almost fifty years of non–private property regime. However, the
end of the twentieth century, the country changed its regime to democratic and resulted mass privatization of its state property. The government of
the country distributed an interest of the state property to its people and made more than half of Mongolian population as shareholder. However,
many of policy makers, lawyers, business people and general public encountered considerable lack of understanding about a business law. Thus, it
was necessary to start and develop business related law in all fields. Nevertheless, due to lack of experts who understand modern law on businesses,
Mongolia has faced significant challenges to build its business law and still been in a process of business initial stage of business law development.
For Mongolia, it has been strenuous process in transition from centrally planned economy to market economy and developing various aspects of
business law including corporate and securities law. In the middle of twentieth century, Mongolia was considered a close ally to communist USSR.

Imperialism In Mongolia
In the beginning of the twentieth century, the world was in a state of unrest. Tensions between countries and identities had become so hostile that often
smaller countries made alliances with larger powers for their own protection. After hundreds of years of being under China's rule, Mongolia came under
the protection of the Soviet Union, who made a template for how their country should be run. Politics trickled down to the eventual mandated shift
from the traditional Mongolian script to the Cyrillic script during the Cold War by the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and their Soviet allies,
affecting Mongolian education, society, and political power during this period of war. At the creation of the new socialist Mongolian state, the

the Revolutionary Party because of its seemingly complicated writing system with seemingly unnecessary words, grammar and graphemes (Krueger,
1961:184). The Mongolian writing system was also the object of simplification because as it is a Semitic alphabet in origin, the letters in the alphabet
had the duty of changing form, whether the grapheme had an initial, medial, or final place in a word, shown in the table below from The Phonology of

Economic Crisis In Mongolia Essay
REFLECTION
As a whole, I believe our group worked well together. "This is a very functional group, I like it," in Nandin–Erdene's words. During the discussions, all
of the members of our group fully contributed and shared their point of views. During the research, we were given the assignment of finding possible
solutions to our problem, which was economic crisis in Mongolia. My teammates at the time was distracted with the school's annual Talent Show, and
didn't state new solutions besides the ones we already discussed. I knew something like this would happen, so I took careful planning in advance. I
offered possible solutions that would be efficient, and in the end, we finalized our solutions.

We decided unemployment rate, strengthen institution, FDI and export diversification would be the most effective way to solve the issue at hand. All
of us knew low employment rate would be the one of leading cause, because Mongolia's unemployment rate is very high and most of the citizens live
under poverty, exactly 1 out of 5 people. Tamir expanded on this solution and proposed improving education would be the best method. As forinflation,
I offered export diversification as a solution, because increasing one's exports increases the demand for currency thus reduces deficit and reduces
inflation/debts. I knew this solution would be effective, because Mongolia have the necessary resources to produce more than one centralized good,
and become global competitor. In order for this to occur, skilled labor force, FDI and strengthen institution had to come into the picture. This is where
Tamir and Nomun–Erdene's solutions complemented my solution and as well as Nandin–Erdene's solution. Since, investing into one country will
allow it to improve their capital and strengthen institution. After everyone was satisfied with their solutions, I did random assessments to ensure our
teammates were doing their things on time and made sure our project was running smoothly.
Throughout this process, I learned much about the current status of Mongolia and the world. During the research, I learned that Saudi Arabia was
planning on to increase their share of non–oil exports to 16

Genghis Khan and his Army in Mongolia in 1162
Temujin, better known as Genghis Khan, was born in northern Mongolia in 1162. After uniting the nomadic Mongolian tribes in 1206, Khan led a
successful military campaign that spanned more than three decades, pillaging vast areas of land and subjugating millions of people. Though Khan and
his armies are often thought of as cruel barbarians, his advanced military tactics and progressive outlook on ruling painted him in a somewhat different
light. Although he was born to a noble Mongolian family, early life for Khan was violent and unpredictable. At the age of 10, his father was poisoned
and killed in an attempt to extinguish his claim to leadership. Several subsequent attempts were made on Khan's life for this same purpose.... Show

During an engagement between the two armies, the Mongolians deployed a false withdrawal, one of their most common tactics. While the forces of
Yinchuan attempted to recover from the initial attack of Mongolian cavalry, a massive siege was launched upon the city. Although the Mongolian
attempt to flood the city ultimately failed, the Xi Xia ruler recognized the military superiority of the Mongolians and decided to submit and present
tribute. After conquering the kingdom of Xi Xia, the Mongols attacked the Jin Dynasty of northern China. This war was aggravated by the Jin ruler,
who demanded that Mongolia submit to the Jin Dynasty as a vassal state. From 1211 to 1214, the Mongolians fought a war of attrition, pillaging the
countryside and sending thousands of refugees into the cities, creating major food shortages. Seeing no alternative, the Jin army massacred tens of
thousands of its own peasants in an attempt to prevent large–scale starvation. In 1214, the Mongolians besieged the severely weakened capital of
Zhongdu (now Beijing), the Jin ruler immediately surrendered and offered large amounts of gold, silver, silk, and horses as tribute. When the same
ruler later angered Khan by moving his court south to the city of Kaifeng, in breach of their agreement, Khan retaliated by burning the city of Zhongdu
to the ground. In 1219 Genghis Khan

Effects Of Overpopulation In Asia
When one thinks of Asia, what do they think of...Tokyo? Dubai? Overpopulation? Asia is the largest and most populous continent on Earth, with 4.463
billion people. "Many thoughtful observers have noted that whatever problems individual nations face–hunger, poverty, inflation, pollution, or political
instability–rapidly increasing population usually makes condiВtions worse. Several Asian nations face many of those problems" (Population in Asia).
Asia is overpopulated due to big families, increased life expectancy, and fertile land/agriculture. Even though some parts of Asia are not

In East Asia, one in three persons will be age sixty or older. Also, by 2050, there will only be 3.5 working people to support one older person as

people were able to make informed decisions about their fertility and what they wanted for the future.
Ultimately, Asia is filled with mountain systems, plateaus, plains, steppes, and deserts. The Himalaya mountains extend for about 2,500 kilometers,
separating the Indian subcontinent from the rest of Asia. The Tien Shan mountain system stretches for about 2,400 kilometers, straddling the border

Weatherford's attitude about the Mongols is due to his belief that the world changed or began to change from the medieval to the modern world
because e of the influence of the Mongols. He stated "The new technology, knowledge, and commercial wealth created the Renaissance in which
Europe rediscovered some of its prior culture, but more importantly, absorbed the technology for printing, firearms, the compass, and the abacus
from the East" (xxiv). The magnitude of the Mongol empire from the beginning to its greatest heights is an amazing story. Weatherford states "he
smashed the feudal system of aristocratic privilege and birth, he built a new unique system based on individual merit, loyalty, and achievement"
(xix). All of these newly presented ideas assist Khan in his conquest of unity and progression. In the battle against the Bukhara, he had many of the
local people either assist him in his mission or be punished brutally. This old, but newly used concept of divide and conquer worked in Khan's favor.
It not only caused the surrender of the Bukhara, but when word spread it assisted in the surrender of the capital of Samarka (9). He realized the
power of psychological warfare and used it to his advantage. In a campaign against Jamuka, the displaying of the Spirit Banner was used to make it
difficult for the opposing side viewing these Banners to fight if the kinsmen had used ancestors' Spirit Banner. This was used as "tantamount" to

Genghis Khan: The Most Powerful Leader of Mankind
This world has had many powerful leaders, but none that were as powerful as the dominant Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan was an extremely powerful
man, and he ruled all of Asia. Khan used his connections, personality, and goals to unite all of Asia.
Through all his wives, tribes, other people, and his family, he helped bring together one of the largest empires.Genghis Khan had many connections
with everyone throughout Asia, which helped him grow his army (Atwood). Khan wanted to live up to his father's goals when Yesugei was still living.
At nine years old, "Kahn's father was murdered" (Atwood). Again, by using connections, Edward D. English says, "Genghis was able to mobilize an
unusually high proportion of the adult male population." This means most of the males in Asia would follow Genghis because they wanted to be on the
"winning side", and that is something Genghis knew how to do. Through Genghis Khan's Father, Khan knew numerous people throughout Asia, which

Khan was born clutching a blood clot in his fist, which was taken as a sign that the boy would become a great warrior"(English). By being so brave,
other tribes that heard about this would either run away or join Genghis' clan (Grossman). Genghis Khan and Toghril, the Chinese emperor, attacked
the Tatars and killed Genghis' brother. Genghis was so vicious that he even killed his own brother. Genghis' personality displayed uniqueness. Khan

name "A Blood Clot". It starts out with the speculation of the death of Genghis Khan. Some say that his lover killed him others say that he died of
illness. It describes how he had no former education when he was younger and how he was at a young age. He found a best friend, which would

He was also threatened by Temujin's growing power. In order to secure succession, Temujin asked his son Kochi to marry the khan's daughter. Wanting
to lure them into camp, Ong accepted the proposal trying to kill them. Temujn and his family fled. He counterattacked once he learned of the plot.
Temujin found a way to convince the people that Ong Khan and his family were dead through rumor even though he didn't actually kill them. In 1204,
Temujin had his last battle for the control of Mongolia. He used tactics that were a mix between old and new fighting styles.
The fourth chapter is named "Spitting of the Golden Khan". It is also were part two of the book starts. By 1210 Genghis (which became his new
name) grew into a golden age. This when everything started to prosper. He defeated armies across Asia and he had little to no issues. He was able
to get more military power and new tactics to employ into battle. He knew that in order to conquer a fortified city he needed new tactic that is why
he employed the wave method, in which men went in like waves. He built a strong and prosperous empire that had a great time for 60 years. The fifth
chapter is called "Sultan vs. Khan". This follows that the Mongol empire managed to conquer every army and city in Central Asia. Khan came across

Analysis Of Genghis Khan And The Mongols
Genghis Khan and the Mongols were once the most powerful force in the world. The vast Mongolian empire expanded from the Sea of Japan to the
Black Sea. In its prime it once had control of 22% of the worlds land and continued to flourish longer than any other human force on the planet. In this
essay the discussion of Genghis Khan, the Mongols, and the culture and ways of life that kept their empire in charge. Views that Jack Weatherford
expresses in his book Genghis Khan: The making of the modern world
Its been nearly eight hundred years since the existence of the Mongolian empire and yet many concepts are still in use today in this modern age.
An example of this is the use of state and federal law. This came from Khan, at its time it was not called state and federal law, At the time Khan had
in motion the use of The Great Law, in modern age this would be the federal law. A law to rule over all territories under Khans control and he was also
a fair leader. People had self–rule if they stayed loyal to the Mongols and common people felt some sort of benefit from this. They never participated
in hostage taking or ransoms but would kill the leader and allow for the common people to have a voice. He allowed for any enclave to have laws of
their own if they follow the rules of Khan. Yet there are still more elements of how his empire flourished in use today.
Over time, as new lands began to be discovered by mongrel growth, the use of trade became more important with the new

How Did Genghis Khan Play In Establishing The Mongol Empire
Thesis
Genghis Khan played an important role into establishing the Mongol Empire through uniting many of the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia, starting
Mongol Invasions, and increasing cultural change between the east and west.
Background
Genghis Khan was a great warrior, and he was also a great ruler. During his lifetime, he built the world's biggest empire from the ground up. He made
fair and just laws and encouraged the exchange of ideas. Genghis Khan's birth name was Temujin and his birthplace was Mongolia. He was born on
approximately 1162. During his lifetime, he was married at the age of 16 and had an abundance of wives. At age 20, he began to develop a massive
army, which he used to both diminish and bring together individual tribes in Northeast Asia. Genghis Khan had a tough childhood when his father
died there tribe abandoned their family. They lived in steppe and hunted food to make their family survive. Later on, he builds an alliance with people
he trusted. He killed the rich and powerful to get rid of the ruling class.

When Genghis Khan died, his last words were, "With heaven's aid I have conquered for you a huge empire. But my life was too short to achieve the
conquest of the world. That task is left for you." It is evident that this was implied for his family. Some of the long term effects of Genghis Khan's
achievements were the increase of cultural exchange between the east and the west, the collapse of the Song Dynasty under Kublai Khan, and the rise
of the prominence of Moscow. Later on, the Mongol Empire became the most dominant empire, controlling between eleven and twelve million
contiguous square miles. Genghis Khan was a successful man whose influence would change history

Contributions to the Rise and Growth of three Powerful Empires
There are many factor's that contributed to the great rise of what we know today as the biggest empires of the Axial Age. Among them we find three
empires, Rome, Persia, and the Mongolians that have contributed to who we are today. They stamped their position in history in ways that we still use
today. Some factor's that contributed to the rise of these soaring empires include, their military techniques and growing technology, their advance on
trade alongside trade tactics and the ability to produce syncretism. One of the main reasons why these empires had such success was due to their
military strength. For example Greece was gifted with a powerful and tactful man who went by Alexander the Great. Through the technology and
the ability to create such a reformed army Greece was able to conquered many of the states surround it with ease. Under the rule of King Philip the
creation of weapons such as the torsion catapult, the belly shooters and the formation of the sarissa aided Alexander to lead his troops to move with
great force, taking all of it's neighboring states leading to Greece's rise. (Greece: Age of Alexander) Another contribution that changed how battles
were fought was the contribution of Siege Towers by the Greece armies. These provided a new game to warfare as they protected not only the
soldiers but also held ammunition inside of each tower. These allowed soldiers to get up close to the opposing

Genoghhis Khan And The Legacy Of Genghis Khan
Genghis Khan was undoubtedly one of the most vicious and brutal leaders in world history. However, the legacy of Khan is also one of cultural
development, artistic achievement, an elegant way of life and an entire continent united under the Pax Mongolia. The famed leader and his successors
created the largest empire ever to exist, spanning across the entire Asian continent. An empire as such could not have been created without strong
leadership, stellar organizational skills and the most resilient army ever known. Genghis Khan may be well known for his brutality and destructive
cavalry however, Khan did good for his own people and earned the Mongolians a reputation of glory. Genghis Khan was an emperor, who lead his
people in such a way that was accepted in the tenth century. Back then war was a very reality, and if it involved massacres, then it was generally
tolerated. However, many people forget that Khan's rampage left such a path of destruction that he irrevocably destroyed entire empires and
populations in the interest of habitable environments. In more recent times, people have pointed out that Joseph Stalin was responsible for nearly
twenty million deaths. This death toll would have made him more brutal than the Nazis, who held a death total of seventeen million people(White).
Yet, Stalin cannot even compare to the brutality of the Mongols under the leadership of Khan. Genghis Khan was responsible for the deaths of roughly
forty million people, and he was glad to

The Mongolian business culture is dominated by men as is in most developing countries, although the number of women holding high executive
positions is increasing at a steady rate, particularly in foreign companies. The same is almost similar in Australia which has a high working
population of women albeit in lower paying jobs although it is not uncommon to see women holding high managerial positions compared to other
industrialised nations (Gray et al. 2003). This would bode well for women looking to work in Mongolia knowing that progress regarding gender
equality is being made. Australians and Mongolians share a similar culture towards their business dress sense whereby a formal tie and jacket is
required whereas women wear business suits with a skirt or trousers. It is viewed in good light if foreigners over–dress as opposed to being
under–dressed as the first impression counts if the company wishes to be taken seriously by Mongolian businessmen and women (Dashnyam 2003).
The most obvious cultural difference between Australia and Mongolia is the language barrier. Australia's primary spoken and written language is
English whereas 90% of Mongolians converse in Khalkha Mongolian and write in the Cyrillic

An Interview With The Bank Of Mongolia Essay
I.Introduction
The Bank of Mongolia piqued my interest to explore about career opportunities as it serves as the Central Bank of the country. It ensures the stability of
Mongolian national currency and promotes balanced and sustained development of the national economy by maintaining the stability of money,
financial markets, and the banking system.
For this paper, I interviewed an HR representative, Ms. Erdenetuya, who works at the General Management department of the Bank of Mongolia. As a
result of a geographic barrier, the interview was done via Skype. In addition, the interview was originally done in Mongolian that I had to translate into
English. In the Bank of Mongolia, the General Management department is responsible for the human resource strategy of the organization. The reason
I chose to conduct an interview with Ms. Erdenetuya. was my particular interest of exploring career opportunities in the banking industry as well as the
interviewee's many years of work experience and broad knowledge about the overall organization, including human resource strategy in the Bank of
Mongolia.
II.Questions
Q1: Why did you choose to work at the Bank of Mongolia?
Answer: First of all, I finished my undergraduate degree in economics at Moscow School of Economics in Russia. Thus, I have always been
specifically interested in working in the banking industry. This prompted me to apply to the Bank of Mongolia and I had been offered an entry–level
position at first. However,

The Mongols : Mongols Barbarians
The Mongols Essay The Mongols were very harsh and brutal like no one else in their era but I believe that they are not barbarians. The Mongols
had a strong dominating military that was almost always successful, they contributed to many of the ideas that are still around today, and made a
very stern set of laws that kept their community civilized which is why I believe that the Mongols were not barbarians. Although the Mongols were
sometimes very brutal they were not barbarians. The Mongols were able to come up with very complex battle tactics like no other military in their
era. In document three " History of the Mongols" recorded by John of Plano Carpini he, states "they make figures of men and set them on horses. They

And lastly, another reason why the Mongols were not barbaric, even though they did commit acts of violence and conquered many people they
still were able to live civilized and contribute to the community. In document eight Marco polo records that the Mongols created a "pony express"
which horses were used to deliver messages throughout the kingdom. Marco polo states " One of the great concert messengers sets out along of
any of these roads he has only to go 25 miles and there he finds a posting station... at each of these post the messengers fine three or four hundred
horses in readiness awaiting their command, and power little lodgings." He also states that the neighboring cities kept boats ready for Messenger
is passing over rivers and lakes and when a messenger has to ride for a long time like 200 miles he signals the nearby post so they can prepare a
horse for him to switch on to immediately so no time is wasted. This shows that the Mongols were not barbaric at all and had intelligence to set up a

The Rise And Impact Of Genghis Khan
The Rise and Impact of Genghis Khan Genghis Khan was a relentless Mongolian warrior who attacked all who spoke against him. He united nomadic
tribes, and defeated great empires, all of which led to the creation one of the world's largest empires spanning the Asian continent from Peking, China,
to the Caspian Sea and had an area of nearly twelve million square miles. To know anything about Genghis Khan, one must have prior knowledge
about the Mongols. The Mongols were ruthless people who seemed to have no fear or limits in how far they would go. They just kept on and
persevered until they got what they wanted, no matter the price. They would kill, starve, drink blood, and brave staying out in the freezing
temperatures of the north. They did not see food as a necessity until they were almost completely starved of it, and if they decided that it had finally
reached that point, they would simply just cut open a vein from their horse and drink some of the horse's blood. After, they would continue riding, but
not before patching up the horse's vein. That grotesque snack would give them the strength to keep moving through the cold. It was a must that they
keep going through these practically unbearable conditions. They could not afford to stop. They had a hunger to take over as much as they could and
moving through the challenges of freezing, starving, and constantly having to find a new place to stay was vital for that. Consequently, they continued

Are Manchurian and Outer Mongolia Sovereign States?
Introduction In the following paragraphs will prove that Manchurian is not a sovereign state while Outer Mongolia is. Declarative theory and
constitutive theory will be used for explanation. Attitude of China towards the two cases will be discussed and finally will be the conclusion.
ManchurianDeclarative theory Manchurian seems can fulfill the conditions of statehood in terms of declaratory theory. But actual practice implicates
she cannot fulfill the conditions. Declaratory theory refers to the Article 1 of the Montevideo Convention on Rights and Duties of States. It stated that a
state has permanent population, defined territory, government and capacity to enter into legal relations (Shen, 2014). At that period, Manchuria had
about 37 million permanent populations. She consisted of about 1 million square kilometers of territory. It is formed by Liaoning, Jilin and
Heilongjiang province (Zhang, 1985). For structure of the government, republic system is adopted. Puyi is the leader. Before the establishment of
Manchuria, the government was able to control the area effectively. After the establishment, she was effective to exercise foreign policies. For
example, she built up diplomatic relationship with Japan and El Salvador. She was also capable to maintain political order (Zhang, 1985). For the
capacity to enter into legal relations, she was able to enter into relations with other countries in the name of representative of Manchurian. There was no

Mongolian air pollution
In Mongolia's capital, air pollution is 6–7 times higher than the most lenient World Health Organization standards.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS * Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar is one the world's most polluted cities– its "harmful dust" is 6–7 times higher than the most
lenient World Health Organization standards. * Luckily, the issue is drawing more attention– International organizations including the World Bank are
working with the Mongolian government to find solutions. * A newly–launched project will help local residents install more energy–efficient stoves

The study finds that reducing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar will require sustained efforts. To achieve Mongolia Air Quality Standards, particulate
emissions would need to be reduced by 94% from ger areas, suspended soils and boilers combined. But certain measures can have visible impacts – if
PM emissions from ger areas are reduced by 80%, the annual average concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 (slightly larger particles that lodge in the
throat and upper respiratory tract) could be reduced by about one quarter.
So, for the short term, the Ulaanbaatar Clean Air Project will help replace stoves and low–pressure boilers used now by ger areas families with new
models that are more energy–efficient and burn fuel more cleanly. It will provide subsidies to bring down the costs for these people, who are among
the poorest and most vulnerable in the city. This is to continue a program started at a large scale by the United States Millennium Challenge Corporation.
"There is no magic bullet for reducing air pollution," says Gailius Draugelis, a lead energy specialist at the World Bank, who is leading the
organization's support for air pollution reduction in Ulaanbaatar. "Significant domestic and foreign funds have been raised to support a wide range of
solutions. Enlisting the support of the citizens and the local private sector is also very important."

Eurasia Dbq Pax Mongolia
In order for the Mongolian Empire to thrive, trade needed to be dominant throughout Eurasia so they could get basic resources. At the same time they
had full control over China which expanded their empire even though they had to sacrifice many resources. They restricted religious rights and
dismantled their Civil Service system. They also enforced laws that forbid intermarriage and the Chinese from learning the Mongolian language. They
were also violent to others especially during their invasions. However, under all the brutality they helped do some great things for Eurasia. Thus the

So when the Mongols took control of China, they had to tolerate certain religions to help keep up their society so the Chinese wouldn't revolt.
Tolerating many religions also helped spread the religions once time for trade came around. Once foreign people started coming, the religion had
been adopted by those people, and brought back to their lands. This is how almost every culture and everything spreads throughout the world.
Although the Mongols resisted assimilation between their culture and the Chinese, they still tolerated certain religions. Document 6 says "An
important legacy of the Mongols' reign in China was their support of many religions." The support of many religions is an important positive
effect the Mongols left on Eurasia because these religions are being spread across Eurasia through trade, and because of this more religions were
gaining more supporters across different regions. More supporters for a religion indicates it is being successfully spread to other places, and the
religion is being successfully embraced into the society it is being spread too. The support of more religions was also a positive effect the Mongols
left on Eurasia because by adopting Islamic people, it created peace with other countries. "The Mongols also recruited and employed Islamic financial
administrators– a move that led to good relations with the Islamic world beyond China, in particular with Persia and West

Genghis Khan was a major turning point in history. He founded the Mongolian Empire in 1206, arguably the most defining point of his life. He
implemented religious freedom in Mongolia, allowing his subjects and those who were conquered to freely practice their own religion. In addition to
this, he and his descendants brought Asian cultures closer to Europe, bringing them into contact with each other by expanding Mongolia.

Genghis Khan, and his descendants, expanded the Mongolian Empire and in turn brought Mongolian and Asian culture closer to Europe. This led to
Asian inventions being picked up by the Europeans, such as paper which led to the creation of the printing press in 1440. However, other inventions
were circulated around, such as gunpowder. The spreading of the invention of gunpowder sparked the creation of the cannon in Mongolia and led to
the ownership of guns and firearms by the Europeans. Under the Pax Mongolia, roughly translating to the Mongolian peace, the silk road was safe and
protected, as much of it ran through the Mongols incredibly vast empire. Since the majority of the Silk Road was safe from bandits, important
expeditions, such as the famous journey of Marco Polo in the late thirteenth century, became possible. The Mongols' protection over the Silk Road
encouraged trade, and the transmission of ideas and inventions. European culture and ideas also made their way over to Asia. Asia and Europe did not
have much of a connection before the Mongols brought the cultures together, as they were caught up within their own affairs. But through the influence
of the Mongols they were able to recognize each other's existence, ability, and accomplishments in a way that they were unable to before. While at the

Discuss The Changes And Continuities Between 1100 And 1350
Between the years 1100 and 1350, many crucial social, political, and economic changes and continuities can be observed in Asia and particularly in
Yuan China. At the beginning of this time period, the Mongols were a group of pastoral nomads in modern–day Mongolia who practiced a shamanistic
religion. During this time, the Silk Road was extremely dangerous, and traders on the Silk Road were often endangered by the threat of bandits. During
the course of this time period, the Mongols eventually conquered and united China. After they had done so, many of the Mongols adopted Buddhist
beliefs. As the Mongols expanded their empire, they were able to secure the Silk Road and drastically reduce the amount of robbery and theft that took
place on the trade route. One major continuity during Mongol rule of China was the inclusion of some Confucians in the government. Another aspect
of Yuan China that remained consistent throughout this period was the separation of Mongol and Chinese cultures, shown by the fact that the Chinese
were not allowed to marry Mongolian women or learn the Mongol language. From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many routes on the Silk Road had become obsolete by the time the Mongols had conquered China; however, the Mongols were able to

The Weep Camel Essay
The Weeping Camel is a film made to look like a documentary, it follows the life of a family in Mongolia. Through the movie, we can see into the
lives of a family that is so different from ours. The film focuses on teaching the audience about the Mongolian culture through a mixture of reality and
drama. The film techniques used in The Weeping Camel set apart this movie from others as a cinematic masterpiece.
The values that are shown in The Weeping Camel greatly differ from common values in Australia. The family believes in generosity. This is shown as
when travellers pass through, they are given a meal and company. The film demonstrates the this is common practice throughout that area of Mongolia
as when the two children travel a long distance. They are greeted along the way by kind people who allow them to watch their television and eat their
food.
The relationship between tradition and modern is an underlying theme in this movie. The children are shown coming into contact with technology they
have not seen before and being astounded by it. AT the end of the movie the family bought a television, this shows how they are excepting technology
into their everyday life. I believe that the filmmakers were trying to make a statement, that there is no reason to distinguish between traditional and
modern, These technologies are just different aspects of different peoples lives.
The music played in the background of the film is generally very peaceful. The sounds are diegetic,

The Genetics For Mongol Migration
Maryann Steadman
ANTH 3125
2014, October 11th
Reflection Paper One
Genetics for Mongol Migration Mongolia is located in–between Russia and China, and is a neighbor to Kazakhstan. The people that live there are
called Mongols. Mongolia, which is part of Asia, is part of what composes Eurasia. When it comes to DNA and chromosomal lineage, there are many
factors that lead to how a person will look, who they will mate with, and what decisions they make in that process. These categories all run under the
term genetics. The second week's lecture said that there are "three major types of genetic data." There is autosomal, Y chromosome, and mitochondrial
DNA. Autosomal is a combination of your mother and father's DNA that makes you. Y chromosomes come from your father and are given to a
son, and mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother. Everyone has the autosomal and mitochondrial aspects of genetics. The mitochondrial
makeup is just what genes you got from your mother. However, only males have the Y chromosome aspect of genetics since males sex genes are
comprised of XY while females are XX. Mongols (and their language of Mongolic) originally came from the Altai Mountains, which are near
Mongolia (week lecture two). In the second week's lecture it is also noted that Mongolia may have been the original location for starting Y
chromosomal lineage. In Zerial's article, "The Genetic Legacy of the Mongols," it talks about Mongols being a star cluster for other people.

Khan's rule the Mongol people took control of China and Central Asia in twenty years. This Mongol Empire is the largest empire the world has ever
seen to this point. In order to gain this extensive amount of territory the Mongols fought a lot of tough, brutal wars, and for centuries they have been

The Mongols were from the Central Asian steppe lands that were north of China. The steppe is an area of very dry grassland where there is very
little rainfall, it is very windy, and where there are dramatic temperature differences. The steppe is not a suitable place for farming because of the
harsh conditions, therefore the Mongols developed into nomadic pastoralists. Nomadic pastoralists are people who heard domestic animals, like
horses, sheep, and goats, then migrate to areas with good pasture lands to feed their herds. The grass on the steppe lands was great for animals but the
Mongols still needed to migrate anywhere from five to ten times a year. To make their moves easier, Mongols were dependent upon their horses.

Due to the stresses of living out in the severe circumstances of the plain, Mongolian women often shared the tasks of hunting and steering with the

Mongolian American Culture

  • 1. Mongolian American Culture Mongolia began as small tribes that was banded together into a state, by one of the worlds greatest warriors Genghis Khan in 1206. Today Mongolia, has around 3 million people living there. Mongolia is country is land–locked and located between Russia and China. They rely on animals for their main source of food. In Mongolia ninety percent of Mongolia speak Khalkha Mongolian. There are three main religions in western Mongolia. The most dominant is Shamanism, which began in the 16th century. The second leading is Iamaaisim, which from my understanding is a type of Buddhism. Following is Muslim and a small portion is Christian. Although Religion is different than culture, it definitely influences the surrounding culture. If you look at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The First Part or Elkhedeg, slowly introduces the audience to the dance and the body of the performer. As the beat speeds up the arms open up and the sholders move back and fourth and side to side, swaying as they move. At this time the legs are pretty still and lightly bent and almost motionless. The second part of the Biteylee dance, is the Joroo Mori, This is when the dance becomes light and more up beat. The speed of the dance increases as the music does. The deel has a stiff look and is flat against the womans collar bone. A black and white hat is worn on a married woman. Underneath the hat there is a hair bag that connects to the hat to keep a womans long hair out of the way and keep it clean. One of the most detailed aspects of the attire is the ring of Kerchiefs layed out on the side of the hip. There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He kept the native people involed in the government giving them lower position jobs but this still made them feel welcomed. His empire was centrally located and allowed citizens to contribute to the trade in the area.Kublia Khan created building projects that made jobs and encouraged trade. • 3. Positive Effects Of The Mongol Empire The Positive Effect of the Mongol Empire on the World The Mongols are a group of people that live north of present day China, in the Asian Steppe. Although Mongolia is a pretty irrelevant nation now, Mongolia has had a huge impact on the world over the course of history. The Mongols once controlled the largest connected empire in history. The Mongols were able to craft their empire in a small amount of time, for it seemed that the Mongols' only purpose was to destroy and conquer. The Mongols were cruel in their battles, for they killed millions and destroyed cities and civilizations in their conquests. Although, I believe the Mongolians of the Asian Steppe had a positive impact on the world during their rule of the Asian continent from 1206 to 1368 by influencing trade, ideas, and unification. The amount of trade in Eurasia was significantly boosted by the Mongol rule, specifically under the Pax Mongolica. The Pax Mongolica was a peace that spread throughout the Mongol empire, allowing safe travel for people traveling from area to area. This included caravans, missionaries, and travelers, says page 333 of the textbook. People were more freely able to travel than ever before thanks to the Pax Mongolica, which led to a major increase in trade and the Silk Road. The Silk Road was a road hundreds of miles long that stretched across Asia. China, a large destination on the silk road, exported silk, hence the name, and porcelain. These Chinese items were traded with people who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of ' Don 't Let It Happen ! ' Essay You have to cut the stomach open, reach inside, and crush the windpipe," said the farmer, brandishing his knife along the goat's leg. We all nodded in agreement, but my conscious was screaming, "Don't let it happen!" Before I could say a word, the farmer made an incision along the abdomen of the goat, and stuck his hand in. The goat, naturally, screamed. As the farmer moved his hand through the wailing animal, I couldn't help but feel nauseous. I turned away, hoping that it would all end soon. After sixty seconds of terror, it ended. I turned around, and all I saw was the farmer with his bloodied hand, and the motionless goat with foam dripping from its mouth. My three friends were pale, and it was as if they had seen a ghost. So that was that. In less than two minutes, an animal had ceased to exist. Everything went quiet, and it was just me, Jerry, Naidan, Uni and the farmer, all standing in the field. Surrounded by colossal mountains, whose peaks kissed the clouds, we were standing there. All that remained was the sound of the river, its current crisply flowing nearby. That is how the Mongolian countryside is. This is one of many stories that unfolded during my 10–day stay in Mongolia with my friend Jerry Gross. The Asia Pacific Institute (API), a Mongolian think tank, invited Jerry and me to Mongolia to learn about the country 's politics, foreign affairs, history, and culture. When we received the invitation, we were excited, so we packed our bags and flew to Mongolia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the twentieth century, Mongolia had been a socialist country and developed almost fifty years of non–private property regime. However, the end of the twentieth century, the country changed its regime to democratic and resulted mass privatization of its state property. The government of the country distributed an interest of the state property to its people and made more than half of Mongolian population as shareholder. However, many of policy makers, lawyers, business people and general public encountered considerable lack of understanding about a business law. Thus, it was necessary to start and develop business related law in all fields. Nevertheless, due to lack of experts who understand modern law on businesses, Mongolia has faced significant challenges to build its business law and still been in a process of business initial stage of business law development. Tensions between countries and identities had become so hostile that often smaller countries made alliances with larger powers for their own protection. After hundreds of years of being under China's rule, Mongolia came under the protection of the Soviet Union, who made a template for how their country should be run. Politics trickled down to the eventual mandated shift from the traditional Mongolian script to the Cyrillic script during the Cold War by the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and their Soviet allies, affecting Mongolian education, society, and political power during this period of war. The Mongolian writing system was also the object of simplification because as it is a Semitic alphabet in origin, the letters in the alphabet had the duty of changing form, whether the grapheme had an initial, medial, or final place in a word, shown in the table below from The Phonology of Mongolian by Svantesson and colleagues (Svantesson et al. ... During the discussions, all of the members of our group fully contributed and shared their point of views. During the research, we were given the assignment of finding possible solutions to our problem, which was economic crisis in Mongolia. My teammates at the time was distracted with the school's annual Talent Show, and didn't state new solutions besides the ones we already discussed. We decided unemployment rate, strengthen institution, FDI and export diversification would be the most effective way to solve the issue at hand. All of us knew low employment rate would be the one of leading cause, because Mongolia's unemployment rate is very high and most of the citizens live under poverty, exactly 1 out of 5 people. Tamir expanded on this solution and proposed improving education would be the best method. As forinflation, I offered export diversification as a solution, because increasing one's exports increases the demand for currency thus reduces deficit and reduces inflation/debts. I knew this solution would be effective, because Mongolia have the necessary resources to produce more than one centralized good, and become global competitor. In order for this to occur, skilled labor force, FDI and strengthen institution had to come into the picture. This is where Tamir and Nomun–Erdene's solutions complemented my solution and as well as Nandin–Erdene's solution. Since, investing into one country will allow it to improve their capital and strengthen institution. After everyone was satisfied with their solutions, I did random assessments to ensure our teammates were doing their things on time and made sure our project was running smoothly. Throughout this process, I learned much about the current status of Mongolia and the world. • 11. Genghis Khan and his Army in Mongolia in 1162 Temujin, better known as Genghis Khan, was born in northern Mongolia in 1162. After uniting the nomadic Mongolian tribes in 1206, Khan led a successful military campaign that spanned more than three decades, pillaging vast areas of land and subjugating millions of people. Though Khan and his armies are often thought of as cruel barbarians, his advanced military tactics and progressive outlook on ruling painted him in a somewhat different light. Although he was born to a noble Mongolian family, early life for Khan was violent and unpredictable. At the age of 10, his father was poisoned and killed in an attempt to extinguish his claim to leadership. Several subsequent attempts were made on Khan's life for this same purpose.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During an engagement between the two armies, the Mongolians deployed a false withdrawal, one of their most common tactics. While the forces of Yinchuan attempted to recover from the initial attack of Mongolian cavalry, a massive siege was launched upon the city. Although the Mongolian attempt to flood the city ultimately failed, the Xi Xia ruler recognized the military superiority of the Mongolians and decided to submit and present tribute. After conquering the kingdom of Xi Xia, the Mongols attacked the Jin Dynasty of northern China. This war was aggravated by the Jin ruler, who demanded that Mongolia submit to the Jin Dynasty as a vassal state. From 1211 to 1214, the Mongolians fought a war of attrition, pillaging the countryside and sending thousands of refugees into the cities, creating major food shortages. Seeing no alternative, the Jin army massacred tens of thousands of its own peasants in an attempt to prevent large–scale starvation. In 1214, the Mongolians besieged the severely weakened capital of Zhongdu (now Beijing), the Jin ruler immediately surrendered and offered large amounts of gold, silver, silk, and horses as tribute. When the same ruler later angered Khan by moving his court south to the city of Kaifeng, in breach of their agreement, Khan retaliated by burning the city of Zhongdu to the ground. "Many thoughtful observers have noted that whatever problems individual nations face–hunger, poverty, inflation, pollution, or political instability–rapidly increasing population usually makes condiВtions worse. Several Asian nations face many of those problems" (Population in Asia). Asia is overpopulated due to big families, increased life expectancy, and fertile land/agriculture. I have never really registered any initial information I have been taught about the subject pass the point of needing and having to know it. Weatherford's attitude about the Mongols is due to his belief that the world changed or began to change from the medieval to the modern world because e of the influence of the Mongols. He stated "The new technology, knowledge, and commercial wealth created the Renaissance in which Europe rediscovered some of its prior culture, but more importantly, absorbed the technology for printing, firearms, the compass, and the abacus from the East" (xxiv). The magnitude of the Mongol empire from the beginning to its greatest heights is an amazing story. Weatherford states "he smashed the feudal system of aristocratic privilege and birth, he built a new unique system based on individual merit, loyalty, and achievement" (xix). All of these newly presented ideas assist Khan in his conquest of unity and progression. In the battle against the Bukhara, he had many of the local people either assist him in his mission or be punished brutally. This old, but newly used concept of divide and conquer worked in Khan's favor. It not only caused the surrender of the Bukhara, but when word spread it assisted in the surrender of the capital of Samarka (9). He realized the power of psychological warfare and used it to his advantage. In a campaign against Jamuka, the displaying of the Spirit Banner was used to make it difficult for the opposing side viewing these Banners to fight if the kinsmen had used ancestors' Spirit Banner. Through all his wives, tribes, other people, and his family, he helped bring together one of the largest empires.Genghis Khan had many connections with everyone throughout Asia, which helped him grow his army (Atwood). Khan wanted to live up to his father's goals when Yesugei was still living. At nine years old, "Kahn's father was murdered" (Atwood). Again, by using connections, Edward D. English says, "Genghis was able to mobilize an unusually high proportion of the adult male population." Views that Jack Weatherford expresses in his book Genghis Khan: The making of the modern world Its been nearly eight hundred years since the existence of the Mongolian empire and yet many concepts are still in use today in this modern age. An example of this is the use of state and federal law. This came from Khan, at its time it was not called state and federal law, At the time Khan had in motion the use of The Great Law, in modern age this would be the federal law. A law to rule over all territories under Khans control and he was also a fair leader. People had self–rule if they stayed loyal to the Mongols and common people felt some sort of benefit from this. They never participated in hostage taking or ransoms but would kill the leader and allow for the common people to have a voice. He allowed for any enclave to have laws of their own if they follow the rules of Khan. Yet there are still more elements of how his empire flourished in use today. Contributions to the Rise and Growth of three Powerful Empires There are many factor's that contributed to the great rise of what we know today as the biggest empires of the Axial Age. Among them we find three empires, Rome, Persia, and the Mongolians that have contributed to who we are today. They stamped their position in history in ways that we still use today. Some factor's that contributed to the rise of these soaring empires include, their military techniques and growing technology, their advance on trade alongside trade tactics and the ability to produce syncretism. One of the main reasons why these empires had such success was due to their military strength. For example Greece was gifted with a powerful and tactful man who went by Alexander the Great. Through the technology and the ability to create such a reformed army Greece was able to conquered many of the states surround it with ease. Under the rule of King Philip the creation of weapons such as the torsion catapult, the belly shooters and the formation of the sarissa aided Alexander to lead his troops to move with great force, taking all of it's neighboring states leading to Greece's rise. (Greece: Age of Alexander) Another contribution that changed how battles were fought was the contribution of Siege Towers by the Greece armies. These provided a new game to warfare as they protected not only the soldiers but also held ammunition inside of each tower. These allowed soldiers to get up close to the opposing ... However, the legacy of Khan is also one of cultural development, artistic achievement, an elegant way of life and an entire continent united under the Pax Mongolia. The famed leader and his successors created the largest empire ever to exist, spanning across the entire Asian continent. An empire as such could not have been created without strong leadership, stellar organizational skills and the most resilient army ever known. Genghis Khan may be well known for his brutality and destructive cavalry however, Khan did good for his own people and earned the Mongolians a reputation of glory. Genghis Khan was an emperor, who lead his people in such a way that was accepted in the tenth century. Back then war was a very reality, and if it involved massacres, then it was generally tolerated. However, many people forget that Khan's rampage left such a path of destruction that he irrevocably destroyed entire empires and populations in the interest of habitable environments. In more recent times, people have pointed out that Joseph Stalin was responsible for nearly twenty million deaths. This death toll would have made him more brutal than the Nazis, who held a death total of seventeen million people(White). Yet, Stalin cannot even compare to the brutality of the Mongols under the leadership of Khan. Genghis Khan was responsible for the deaths of roughly forty million people, and he was glad to ... He united nomadic tribes, and defeated great empires, all of which led to the creation one of the world's largest empires spanning the Asian continent from Peking, China, to the Caspian Sea and had an area of nearly twelve million square miles. To know anything about Genghis Khan, one must have prior knowledge about the Mongols. The Mongols were ruthless people who seemed to have no fear or limits in how far they would go. They just kept on and persevered until they got what they wanted, no matter the price. They would kill, starve, drink blood, and brave staying out in the freezing temperatures of the north. They did not see food as a necessity until they were almost completely starved of it, and if they decided that it had finally reached that point, they would simply just cut open a vein from their horse and drink some of the horse's blood. After, they would continue riding, but not before patching up the horse's vein. That grotesque snack would give them the strength to keep moving through the cold. It was a must that they keep going through these practically unbearable conditions. They could not afford to stop. They had a hunger to take over as much as they could and moving through the challenges of freezing, starving, and constantly having to find a new place to stay was vital for that. Consequently, they continued with their violence in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this time, the Silk Road was extremely dangerous, and traders on the Silk Road were often endangered by the threat of bandits. During the course of this time period, the Mongols eventually conquered and united China. After they had done so, many of the Mongols adopted Buddhist beliefs. One major continuity during Mongol rule of China was the inclusion of some Confucians in the government. When it comes to DNA and chromosomal lineage, there are many factors that lead to how a person will look, who they will mate with, and what decisions they make in that process. These categories all run under the term genetics. The second week's lecture said that there are "three major types of genetic data." There is autosomal, Y chromosome, and mitochondrial DNA. Autosomal is a combination of your mother and father's DNA that makes you. Y chromosomes come from your father and are given to a son, and mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother. Everyone has the autosomal and mitochondrial aspects of genetics. The mitochondrial makeup is just what genes you got from your mother. However, only males have the Y chromosome aspect of genetics since males sex genes are comprised of XY while females are XX. Mongols (and their language of Mongolic) originally came from the Altai Mountains, which are near Mongolia (week lecture two).
