III. Purpose of the study III. Bilingual and III. Measurement
                                 education

                                                                           2
Background
The relationship of the L1 to learning other
languages is partly a function of the level of
competence already developed in the first
    language.

    YLE= Cambridge Young Learners English
    Certification Test

                                                     3
Research Questions

I Does bilingual teaching promote English
       beginner’s reading?

II Does the use of mother tongue in class
       assist beginner’s English reading ?

                                                 4
Purpose

The aim is to know the relationship between
bilingual and mother tongue. Does mother
  tongue (L1) influence L2’s acquisition?

                                                 5
Literature Review
The advantage is heightened when the teacher is bilingual
so the adults can acquire both mother tongue and second
language literacy simultaneously.

                                           (Gillespie, 1995)

         I. The mother tongue V.S bilingual
                                                          6
Literature Review
They must produce the L2, and be given feedback in
order to modify their production toward greater
comprehensibility, appropriateness, and accuracy.

                                           (Pica, 2000)

II. Second language and teacher’s feedback
                                                      7
Literature Review
The language policy can be identified as a possible
model for bilingual education.

                                Borich and Tombari (1997)

               III. Bilingual and education
