Racial Beliefs And Its Effect On Society
As a young girl, I have always associated white people with the quality of being rude or racist. For
example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles and comments. I
vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps being a Caucasian person
and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face. There is also an uneasy
stare that is given while shopping, such as following African–Americans around the store to watch
them make sure they are not stealing. The belief that white people are rude is not limited to black
people, but other minorities as well because their cultural beliefs and practices are often
disrespected.
The stereotype emerged from personal experiences throughout my daily life. My mother would also
agree that most individuals who are white are rude to minorities because of their sense of
entitlement. She would often have to console me because, at a young age, I would acknowledge the
difference in treatment I received. About other cultures, their cultural beliefs are often disregarded
and are not given the time to understand. When someone is not fluent in English, they are often
disregarded instead of taking the time is comprehend their statement. Blacks are typically
characterized as thieves or hoodlums, Muslims are terrorist, and Mexicans are all labor workers,
which are incorrect statements and over generalized.
As a result, thinking that most Caucasians are rude or racists prevents me

Summary Of Made In Los Angeles
Made in Los Angeles The remarkable story of Made in L.A is about three immigrants from Latina,
worked in a garment sweatshop company in Los Angeles. Life in the workplace was not smooth as
challenges from the employer affected them leading them to campaign against the act. The story
illuminates the power of unity, the courage it takes to let known of once rights and about
immigration (Encore Broadcast n.p). This paper seeks to describe the problems in the documentary
and the characters. It will also enlighten on the characters stories and how the stories amplify the
documentary plot and social issues. The paper will even expound on the theme of conflict to analyze
the documentary using the theoretical perspective. The documentary problem in the story was that
the employer was harsh, ruthless and did not give the workers a conducive environment as they
were overworked and still paid low wages below the minimum and thus the workers merely
survived (Encore Broadcast, n.p). The employer could not contend to overtime and unpaid wages
which was a significant problem facing the employees. It was problematic that the workers worked
for 10–14 hours without being given breaks for either eating or even going to the bathroom which
had poor ventilation. Later on, after years of meager salaries, unpaid minimum and overtime wages
and also domestic abuse, Maura Colorado, Maria Pineda and Lupe Hernandez come together in
unison together with other employees in their struggle and campaigning for negotiable working
environment and condition and also for self–empowerment which was a battle against their
employer. The Latinos' workers were motivated by the three women and to the extent of the workers
announcing a lawsuit for the garment company which was a problem for the company as its
reputation become known to the public. On the character stories, Lupe Hernandez was born in
Mexico City and left at the age of 17. She is five foot tall, and people would make fun of her height,
and she defended herself. Lupe became a fighter at an early age, and no one could afford to mess
with her. She learned survival skills at an early age since she started working in Los Angeles
garment factories. She worked in the garment companies for

Hip-Hop Culture in Los Angeles, California
The term "Ethnomusicology" is defined as "the study of music in its cultural context."
Ethnomusicologists focus and study music in order to not only interpret its literal meaning but also
to figure out its importance to its listeners and artists along with the way its purpose is
communicated to its audience. . Ethnomusicology is highly versatile and multidisciplinary. People
working in this sector could have solid foundations and basics of music ,dance, folklore and other
different aspects related to music ,yet all ethnomusicologists share a meaningful and coherent
foundation in approaches and methods followed.
My music culture will be covering the hip–hop culture here in Los Angeles. Hip–hop originated
around the late 60's and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience contains a wide variety of people. The music is not just targeted to one kind of
audience that is why it is widely popular because it can entertain all sorts of people. Even though the
main artists that participate are African American it is still open to basically anyone that wants to
give it a try and some are even famous such as singer Jay Sean.
The most important part of this music culture is the lyrics. Lyrics are used to express the artist's
emotions and struggles. Everybody has their own story, just as an author would write a story about
it, a hip hop artist would sing about it. Some artists even try to send out messages trough their songs
such as Lupe fiasco and Immortal Technique. Whatever they try to do with their songs the lyrics are
the most important part to their music. Caleb exclaimed that in his songs that he talks about all
aspects of love as well as trying to spread the message that people can do whatever they want and
that they should never let anyone stop them. This message is evident in his song called "Blow My
Mind," in which he talks about the different things he would do different from the usually routine
day and he challenges you to think of what would you do if it was not the usually routine day. There
are many ways that this music is transmitted one of the man ways is by CDs even though iPods are
eliminating the need for CDs they are still popular among transmitting

Kanye West, Matisyahu and Lupe Fiasco
In 21st century North America, there is a strange, seemingly–unanimous idea that, to fit the norm,
one must be white, Christian and male. While, over the course of the latter 20th century and in the
past decade, this has changed, the norm is very much still Christian and male; African–Americans
now fit into the "All–American" stereotype, for the most part. However, there are, of course, outliers
– deviants from the standard norm; these outliers make one wonder what the norm truly is, why it is
so, how did it get to be that way, and what the norm will be in the future. Kanye West's 2004 single
titled "Jesus Walks" is written as a ode to Jesus helping him and every other Christian through hard
times in their life. Sampling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main theme of "King Without a Crown" is that, in order to truly worship God, people need to
leave their egos on the wayside and realize there is something better in life that can only be found
with God. While "Jesus Walks" was more of a persuasive song, attempting to turn atheists into
Christians, this is not seen in "King Without a Crown." Matisyahu is only praising God; he says,
"without [God] there's no me, you're the air that I breathe," for example. Matisyahu describes his
relationship with God as one that is like the relationship one has with food, for nourishment. He also
says that he no longer has the need for drugs, sinesemilla, for it would "only bring [him] down." The
most notable portion of the music video is at the very end; Matisyahu is walking down a street and,
as he turns around a corner, meets a boy. Matisyahu touches the boy on the shoulder and, it is as
though the boy has reached a sort of enlightenment. This is symbolized by the immortalization of
the boy's portrait on the high, wooden fence behind them, which had previously shown a video of
Matisyahu performing the song. Finally is Lupe Fiasco's "Muhammad Walks," which is a direct
sample of "Jesus Walks." Everything is the same minus the lyrics, which are rapped by Lupe and is
about Islam and its prophets – comparable to "Jesus Walks," but from a Muslim perspective. The
most notable aspect of the song is how Jesus

were 2 bedrooms Ana a living room area with a fireplace. The concert was in 2 hours, one of which
would be spent in line to get inside. I decided to take a shower and clean up before the concert. I
didn 't want to smell like pizza when I meet FOB. I wonder what they are like, they seem like cool
people. I hopped out of the shower and put on some clothes, jeans with one leg black and the other
red and an MCR shirt. Ana hopped in the shower after me. I sat and played on my phone waiting for
Ana. She took no time getting dress, it was her favorite outfit, black jeans, boots and a bright red

"Pizza. I love the pizza." Muttered Jax.
"Yeah, the pizza is really good..." said Pete
"You probably already know, I 'm Patrick, that 's Pete, Joe and our underdressed friend is Andy"
"I 'm Jackie and this is my silent friend!" she said, shaking me. She was always so comfortable in

I turned to her. "I 'm not always silent!" I turned back to the group" I 'm Ana, hey" I waved at them.
"Hey" said Patrick. "So you guys doing anything later? Wanna hang out maybe?"
"Sure, why not!" Jackie said.
"Yeah!" Joe and Andy High–fived each other and the night went on.

"So you guys like movies?" Pete said, rubbing hands together.
"Is there popcorn?" I said
"Hell yeah!" Pete shouted.
"So you guys are staying here too..." Jax announced looking at the hotel.
"Yeah, we always stay here. Say, are you in room 1512?" Andy asked
"Yup" I said.

Analysis Of Words I Never Said By Lupe Fiasco
One of the many contentious issues raised and attacked in 'Words I Never Said' by Lupe Fiasco is
the issue of America's war on terror, claiming that the idea of terror is used as a front to dominate the
Middle East for political and economical reasons, decreasing civil liberties and controlling the
world's supply of oil. This view is one held by millions, claiming that such force isn't needed to
weed out a flimsy opposition. A radical theory held by some is addressed a few lines later, asking if
it was the US government that orchestrated 9/11. Although I disagree with this claim that it was an
inside job, I do believe that the grief and fear of the American people was falsely harnessed and
targeted to spread America's dominance across the globe,

Kites: Prisoner 1 And 2 By Lupe Fiasco
Introduction The theme of my summative is Kites. Kite in archaic mean a person who exploits or
preys on others. I got here through my past knowledge on the kite runner and searching the word
kite. Therefor I defined Kite as suppressing something or someone, and this brings me to Fela and
Nigeria. Fela was suppressed by his government for his desire of a free Nigeria, and he expressed
his desires trough his music Afrobeat. I picked the theme kites because it relates to me the most, for
I have read novels and articles about countries that are being suppressed. As well as I come from the
Middle East where the governments mostly try to suppress its people, I myself have origins in Iran,
a country suppressed by its government and religion. I believe kite symbolize freedom and to people
who are suppressed a kite flying is there is desire of freedom. For I kite fly's like birds, and birds
symbolize hope and freedom, therefor kite shares the same meaning. However a kite can also mean
suppressing those who hold it, for if a kite breaks, then so does your freedom. In my sources I well
be relating theme kite to Fela, and how he was suppressed. Part A Source 1 Prisoner 1 & 2 by Lupe

Personal Narrative-Racism
It was a scorching hot day and the wind was blowing the trees of the overgrown frost. I was at Bur
Mill Park getting ready for a tennis match. I had on a red cornerstone shirt and a tennis skirt. My
brown skin and dark– brown hair were burning in the sun. Mrs. Gulden, my tennis coach, was a
miniscule lady with short–blonde hair. Mrs. Gaulden had just called our team over to review the
line–up. As usual, I maintained my spot as the 5th seed. My team lined up and my coach called out
the line–up one by one, as we met our opponents. My opponent was rather tall and maintained a
menacing presence. She had medium sized light brown hair and peach colored skin. Although I can't
remember my opponents name, I was startled by her presence. Together, we walked over to the court
and began our warm–ups. After five minutes into our warm–up, we began the match. While we
began the match, I could feel my heart racing and my hands touching the softness of the racquet. My
feet were perfectly positioned and ready to race towards the ball. All I could feel and taste was sweat
dripping from my body. The ball was passed over, and I returned it back with ease. I had an

Poverty In Ayesha Says, By William Jaco
It's no secret that poverty affects minorities not only here in America but abroad as well. Our inner
cities see the blunt of legal system; with "African American males incarcerated at a rate of 4,347 per
100,000 as of 2010(Shaefer Wu Edin 89)". Ayesha Jaco, sister to rapper Lupe fiasco, wrote the
spoken word poem "Ayesha Says" to shed light on injustices of a system that overwhelmingly
affects minorities. Ayesha's poem directly addresses issues that have been not only plaguing the
black community, but also compares the poverty we see here with the poverty we seen in conflict
ridden countries. Things like police brutality and the school to prison pipeline leading to mass
incarcerations of minorities overall, poverty and how it systematically affects minorities, and how
people of all races and creeds are coming together to fight these injustices. She reflects on how these
things impact communities and force a season of change among the people afflicted.
Ayesha's starting lines "Englewood or Egypt, Bedstuy or Baghdad...the west bank or the westside of
Chicago(Ayesha)", alludes to comparisons between impoverished nations overseas to impoverished
areas of our country that generally occupied by minorities. This gets the ball rolling on the crux of
problems that people in the ghetto face, poverty being one of them. One of these results of poverty
that Ayesha mentions are that of food deserts. Wright defines "Food Deserts", "low–income
communities with a poverty rate of 20% or

Matthew Paul Miller Similarities
When comparing two different people, you first must understand where they each came from.
Matisyahu's real name is Matthew Paul Miller and he was born June 30th, 1979. He was originally
born in Pennsylvania, but was raised in New York. His stage name is translated to "Gift of God" and
is known mostly for his blend of Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip hop. In regards
to his Jewish identity, he was brought up a Reconstructionist Jew. With the help of a little research
on the subject of Reconstructionist Judaism, I found out that this sect of Judaism is a modern Jewish
movement that views Judaism as a progressively evolving civilization. From what I understand
about Reconstructionist Judaism, the collective body of Jewish Law, Halakha, ... Show more content

This is an approach to the Jewish custom that points toward a community based decision making
through the process of education and concentration of values from traditional Jewish sources. There
are known to be four big movements in North American Judaism; Orthodox, Conservative, Reform
and coming in at fourth is Reconstructionism. This form of Judaism isn't the largest among the
Jewish community in North America but it is well recognized. Just like many teenagers, Matthew
rebelled against his upbringing and started to take drugs and dropped out of high school. At that age
he was a self–proclaimed "Phish–head". After this phase, Miller took part in a first–hand exploration
of Jewish heritage. In return, this program was used in a way that helped solidify his Jewish identity.
From his strict upbringing to a drug infused teenager, Matisyahu was able to find himself along with
his voice. Miller seems to be a coming of age story about a boy who was able to do something
different when it came to his Jewish identity. He isn't a rabbi, teacher or scholar. He is an artist.
Matisyahu has a modern style when it comes to Judaism. Being a younger guy he is able to reach the
young side of Judaism, especially

Creative Writing: The Sound Of Drilling
I woke to the sound of drilling. The vibrations rattling my skull. My head was throbbing as I sat
myself up, the weariness of fatigue setting in. My clothes were filthy. My pants were stained and
torn as if I had been dragged along the ground. Where was I? And why did my body ache? I
remembered brief flashes. Of medical tools; scalpels, needles, and the harsh smell of antiseptic. Of
peeling white walls. Of a bloodied white lab coat. Then I remembered the cold. Ice freezing and
scratching. Snow biting my exposed skin. I shivered. Rubbing my eyes groggily, I surveyed my
surroundings. The walls were a dirty grey concrete, sealing me into a small, confined space.

All the same white. Their only difference being the number on the front panelling. As I ran the
drilling got louder until it was the only thing I could hear. Abruptly it stopped. Low murmurs
sounded behind the door to my left. Panicking, I tried the door on my right. To my luck, it was
unlocked. Slipping inside, I found myself in what seemed to be a supply closet of sorts. Before I
even realised what I was doing I had gathered several tools, some fertilizer, and a smoke detector.
With a small screwdriver, I unscrewed the top of the smoke detector and removed it. Using scissors I
carefully cut the wires attached to the fuse and crossed them over so when power was sent through
the circuit, the fuse would blow and ignite. Fertilizer was next. Leaving enough room for some
oxygen, I filled the rest of the empty space with the explosive powder. I screwed the top back on
very carefully, then listened for anyone nearby. Hearing nothing, I edited the supply closet and

Analysis Of 'Dumb It Down' By Lupe Fiasco
By creatively employing various literary devices and sophisticated figurative language, and relying
immensely on witty word–play and double– at some instances even triple– entendre coupled with an
intricate rhyme scheme, Lupe Fiasco, dubbed by some as the king of trickiness rap, takes a firm
stance against those who constantly attempt to prevail on him to simplify his lyrics to comply with
the current hip–hop stereotypes which could in turn improve his prospects for commercial success.
Lupe Fiasco elaborated on the song on "The late show With David Letterman" by saying " 'Dumb It
Down' looks at how musical entertainment as a whole is used as a distraction, as a tool, to keep
people dumb, instead of focusing on real issues and solutions."
Lupe grasps the attention of the listeners from the very beginning of the first verse by catchy rhymes
and starting by the words "I'm fearless, now hear this" which creates in the mind of the listeners the
notation that what is about be said is a bold and potentially controversial statement that requires
some extent of courage to be discussed. In addition to that, beginning the verse by "I'm fearless"
places him in a position of power where he fears no one and nothing which is advantageous to Lupe
as it helps develop in the listeners a sense of respect for him therefore lending an ear with an open
mind to what he has in store for them. In the beginning of the first verse, the rapper reiterates his
senses deficiencies which are all

Music Is Necessary For Me
I listen to music everyday and I couldn't imagine going a day without it. This is because listening to
music is necessary for me. I listen to music when I am bored, walking to class, at a party, going
through different emotions, or basically doing anything. If you turn on your tv anything you watch
has background music, we even have music in elevators, which is proving the point that humans
need music. Sue Devine writes in an article that "Whether we're aware of it or not, sound and music
is a primary hidden actor in our world" I think that is because it changes your mood, or fixes an
awkward silence. Music is always there triggering memories and emotions, and changing our mood
in an instant. This is exactly what music does for me, if i'm said i play a sad song, if I want to have
fun I turn on dance music, and so on. If I sit down and watch Coming to America with Eddie
Murphy and hear the song She's Your Queen my brain will automatically think of cousin who passed
away. He left behind a hilarious video of him singing the song at the top of his lungs. Or if I were to
hear Fight The Power, by Public Enemy which is undoubtedly a protest song, I think of the struggles
we still face. The type of music you listen will determine its impact on you, whether if it is a
negative or positive, message you receive. I recently watched the movie Straight Outta Compton and
the music impacted my physical attitude immediately. While I watched some scenes I was upset and
others very

Descriptive Essay About Lifeguards
Fifteen minutes. That's the time I spend in each lifeguard stand before rotating to the next. I ascend
the white, grooved ladder rungs of the stand. One, two, three, turn around, sit down. I slip off my
shoes, exposing the embarrassingly obvious tan lines on my feet. With the rescue tube strap tossed
over my head and arm, and the red foam tube resting across the armrests of the chair, I bring the
plastic whistle to my mouth. A shrill, rolling sound is released: a signal to the eager children,
stationed at the edge of the pool and giddy with anticipation, that the day has officially begun. The
pool is open. The first fifteen minutes.
The gruelling sun of two summers' of work has faded away the thrilling newness of climbing up that
lifeguard stand. My first day on the job, I relished the climb, soaking in the responsibility and glory.
Fifteen minutes flew by that day. Growing up, the lifeguards at my neighborhood pool were viewed
as celebrities by the younger kids. My friends and I admired how incredibly cool and intimidating
they were. Their stands were, in our young eyes, thrones. But now that I'm on the other side of it, I
laugh at the thought of lifeguards being "cool" or "intimidating." I'm far from either of those things.
And the stand? It's nothing special. I just do my job: I am paid to sit, perched on a wobbly plastic
chair on stilts, monitoring the happenings of the pool for hours on end.
Even with the umbrella fastened to the stand, the heat proves unbearable. The

Our love of music had brought us together and it was what kept our little universe functioning
without a star out–of–place. Every other Wednesday night we spent the evening at my parents
house, and every time it was perfect. My childhood home had always smelt like roses and coffee.
Two of my favorite things. Every Wednesday was just as amazing as the last, but there was one
exception. Adam had decided to shake up our usual dinner and movie routine by suggesting it was
time we go camping and I remember my dad laughing,
"Son we Jordan's are good at 3 things, basketball, cooking, and being inside only people, just look at

I remember laughing till my stomach hurt, but Adam was everything but amused.

A Hero's Journey Behind A Seagull
Guido was a seagull that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in Aberdeen, Scotland. This area
was not an ideal setting to raise a family of seagulls, however, his parents did the best they could
with what they had. His parents were poor and had to beg to have enough food to feed their flock,
but young Guido did not know any different. He always had food and shelter while his world
remained small and familiar. As Guido started to mature, he met other seagulls in his neighborhood.
He was so excited, as he finally had something that he could call his, and that was his friends. He
became close friends with another seagull named Tony. Tony and Guido became the best of friends
and could always be seen playing, walking and flying around the park. It was a friendship that
would certainly last a lifetime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his last swing, hit an old woman in the head. Due to the force of the broom, she screamed and fell
into an entire row of candy and cookies knocking the once neat shelves, on the floor. The store
owner paused to help the old woman that had just been knocked over, and Al saw his chance to head

Why I Didn 't Kill You?
They say God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers and what doesn't kill you only
makes you stronger. People have always said you're so brave and fearless, but they don 't know I've

me a little day by day. My parents sent me to the best psychiatrists money could buy, but when they
asked me, "what causes this pain" and then I'd obliterate any success we had made in that session by
the simplest of actions, walking out. I couldn't do it, I couldn't tell them why because if I did I would

Descriptive Essay About Thanksgiving
It 's a tradition that my moms side of the family come to my grandmas house for Thanksgiving. The
cool air and falling leaves is a sign of fall and Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. I don't like
my cousins very much and I 'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual. Thanksgiving is not that cheerful
for me. Years ago at Thanksgiving, I was not excited for it, just like every other year. My grandmas
basement is very much underground and quite dark without the lights on. My cousins were running
around the basement playing around. I started to try to scare them by hiding and popping out saying
"Boo!". Evening approached and the moon starts to come out of hiding and the night starts to set in.

My mom gives me some the water on the bedside table and starts to explain what happened. From
what I can decipher from the words in between her sobs is that the ground collapsed beneath me,
and I fell into a sinkhole. None of the rest of the house was affected and she tells me that everyone

Essay on Words I Never Said Analysis
A Contextual Analysis of "Words I Never Said" by Lupe Fiasco
"Words I Never Said" is the second single released from Lupe Fiasco's third album Lasers. This
single was released on February 8th, 2011 for online download. "Words I Never Said" is a very
informative and somewhat opinionated song. Through his lyrics, Lupe Fiasco is trying to speak out
to the people and let them know what is really going on in the world and how they should pay
attention because they play a huge part in it. The lyrics refer to multiple socioeconomic and
controversial political topics. He talks about the corruption within the world and how we all see it
and yet no one speaks out against it. Lupe writes about the war on terror, the media, and the silence

This lyric states how people have become blind as sheep and are now controlled by the media;
having them push less important thoughts into our minds such as the problems you see on the MTV
show "Jersey Shore" instead of looking at the real issues of the world. Major news stations spend
half of their time on real world issues and the other half on gossip for good ratings. In his lyrics,
Lupe is trying to get the media to broadcast real world problems and speak truth to the people,
because right now they have the ability to control what we think about, and what we view as the
truth. The most substantial message that Lupe Fiasco is trying to express with his lyrics in "Words I
Never Said" is the silence in the people. Lupe is trying to tell everyone that they should speak out
against all of the corrupt issues in the world, and to not be afraid of doing so because everyone else
is thinking the same. He is starting to speak what is on his mind and informs everyone that it is now
their turn. The entire third verse of the song expresses this with the lyrics "I think that all the silence
is worse than all the violence. Fear is such a weak emotion, that's why I despise it. We scared of
almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth.
So scared of what you think of me, I'm scared of even telling you. Sometimes I'm like the only
person I feel safe to tell it to.

Personal Narrative: My First Football Game
My leg nervously bounced up and down. Around me were rows and rows of bleachers. In front,
there were several palm trees, behind an enormous pool, which glistened in the sunlight. As I
glanced to my right, I noticed that there were hedges blocking a view to an outdoor area of the
school. To the left was the entrance that I had come through. As I sat on the red bleachers, I thought
about what I had to sit there. I was at Sacred Heart High School in Atherton, California. About a
month previous to this, my dad and I had told my old water polo coach that I would be switching
clubs. The change would happen in four weeks. As the days passed by, I grew more and more
apprehensive. What would the new team be like? How would the coach be? Would I regret ... Show

almost 4 years. After I had said all of my goodbyes, I turned to my coach, whom I had known for the
entire time I had played water polo, about 5 years. I took a picture with him, and started to turn
away. As I was walking away, he called after me to come back. When I faced him again, he told me
to remember this club, and to represent them well at my new one. I realized I had been thinking
about all of this when a kid sat down behind me. Shortly after, his friends, who were talking loudly,
joined him. I waited for a few minutes, and watched as more and more kids entered through the
metal gates onto the beautiful pool deck. All around me were unfamiliar faces. There seemed to be

Speech About Being Extroverted
My friends in school think that I am just a normal with no life at all. However, outside of school, I

means that I can relate to other people by having a kind heart and an open mind. The word extrovert

Freedom to Change
Linguistic innovation is a crucial component in Hip–Hop or Rap music and in everyday life. As
Curzan and Adams mention in How English Works, there are an infinite number of possible
utterances one can create from the English language. Therefore, who determines what is acceptable
and what is not? Over the centuries, language has changed because of different influences. For
example, Hip–Hop and Rap music emerged when African Americans used it as an expression of
their struggle against oppression and economic limitations. These changes may be acceptable in
some circles, but are frowned upon by the society that judges a person by the way they speak. We
the people change the English language and no authority can control those changes. The use ...

One might argue that this cannot be acceptable, perhaps for now–soon this word too will become of
the vernacular of the majority. The use of creative utterances encompasses most of Jay–Z and
Kanyes' lyrics. They refer to the car as a "whip" (56). There appears to be an association with a fast
whipping action and the car alluding that the car is also fast. A common utterance appears in line 59,
"I'm about to kill it," an expression that is used by many people. This phrase translates to be great at
something and excel. One understands that he means this rather than actually about to murder
something. People often say to wish them luck by expressing, "hope you kill it," or "knock them
dead." This example is full of evidence f how language has changed and is changing every day.
Lupe Fiascos shows how powerful language and language choice can be in his song, Dumb it Down.
He begins a very lyrically poetic verse, explaining how he is unable to hear, or see what is going on.
Lupe is describing how the use of 'intellectual" language is not preferred by the Rap music industry.
This shows how language controls the perception of many people. Lupe is attempting to expose how
people define people by the way they speak. In How English Works, the power of language is
focused on, "Words have the power to hurt

Waterfall Short Story
Waterfall The story of how I jumped off a waterfall starts one brisk morning in Costa Rica. My
brother, my dad, and I woke up pretty early given the fact that we were on vacation. I wasn't too
thrilled about losing out on a few hours of sleep, but my brother didn't seem to mind. As I stepped
out into the cool Costa Rican air I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy the hike we would be going on.
My dad said "There is a waterfall at the end of the trail, and I think we can swim in the water
beneath it." None of that really excited me. I had seen quite a few waterfalls on other trips that I had
been on and didn't think they were anything super special. On top of that, I could walk down to the
beach and swim if I really wanted to. I would much rather go to the beach and boogie board than go
see a waterfall. After a short discussion, I reluctantly got in the car. It was a long ride to the start of
the trail, so I was able to get a little more sleep. For most of the ride I looked out the window at the
infinite amount of trees. I don't think I had ever seen more trees in my life. They were everywhere.
On both sides of the road there were tall trees with long vines hanging from them. The thing that I
found more amazing was how dense the forest was. I could barely see five feet into the trees
because it was so dark. The trees blocked out just about every inch of sunlight. I remember my
brother asking "What happens if you get lost in there?". I answered "Well you would probably never

The Portrayal Of Women Of Contemporary Rap Videos
The aim of this study is examine the portrayal of women in contemporary rap videos, and to see if it
could be potentially harmful. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells,
and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip–hop has persuaded a large portion of society
that this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that
people realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In
the rap world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for
rappers to show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women
are inferior, but they feel treating women like a collector's item is how they should go about
flaunting their new–found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos,
which make other people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being
able to get the best looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is
to simply make money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on
the younger generations. When the younger generation watch television and see artists throw money
in the air, with expensive cars and women, that image is stored in their minds as the definition of
success. They begin to believe the idea that in order to accomplish success, you must have beautiful

Reflective Essay On The Written Work Process
In spite of the fact that writing in school is intense at a first begin, Arrangement is the most
troublesome piece of the written work process on the grounds that numerous understudies have the
issue of coming up short on thoughts and they don't know where to put their writing in their paper
all together for their article to be perused easily. I need to educate you concerning how I used to
mastermind my papers amid the composition procedure. In secondary school, I generally had
coordinated works, so I needed to consider thoughts quick. That is the reason I utilized foundation
learning from data that I officially learned. In any case, it was hard for me to consider new plans to
add to my paper because of the way that the greater part of my written work prompts were
coordinated and nobody was permitted to utilize open book to look into any new data, which is the
reason numerous understudies battled amid the composition procedure and quickly came up short on
thoughts. Presently since I'm in school and my composition isn't planned, I intend to add more plans
to my paper through research, for example, the Internet, magazines, podcasts, books, and so forth
for any theme. Truth be told, in the event that I have a written work task that contains two prompts
and I have the alternative to switch themes, I may do that too in light of the fact that numerous
understudies may change starting with one point then onto the next on the grounds that they either
feel more great with the subject and they can think of a bigger number of thoughts for their paper
than the theme that they were at that point stayed with. My teachers once disclosed to me that it is
smarter to have a greater number of thoughts than to simply stick to just a single subject since one
point won't not work and you may not think of a lot of thoughts. Before concocting any thoughts for
my paper, the best technique for me to organize my thoughts was on a web graph on a different
sheet of paper. This strategy is superior to anything beginning to freewrite immediately on a bit of
paper since when you initially compose, you're composing won't not bode well and after that there's
the complexities of modification. Additionally, it is valuable to make a web chart

Lupe Fiasco’s Modern Voice Essay
History has constantly brought upon leaders and individuals who stands up against the corrupt
society he and many others face. Those "leaders" express their profound thoughts for both him and
the many others that are too afraid to speak out. One of the most notorious writers in American
history and is known for his transcendental ideals. However, today's society lacks individuals who
parallels with Whitman. Lupe Fiasco represents the Modern American voice speaking out against
the degrading world society and does so by influencing the public through their appeal of music. He
rejects and contrasts from the negative influences of the world and uses his music to contradict those
who degrade our society. Born in the west side of Chicago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the song, Fiasco portrays the manipulation that many are often affected by. He suggests that
others should, like him, ignore what others think and act purely on what you believe. Fiasco uses the
analogy of slaves to describe the similar effects of losing one's individuality. The experiences one
would face if he/she succumbs into the negative influences of others would be similar to that of
African American slaves. Because of human nature, jealousy exists amongst every individual and by
allowing others to control aspects of your life, he/she will be able harm those dependent variables of
one's life. Similarly, Whitman states that one should freely "...give alms to everyone that asks, stand
up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not
concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing
known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons
and with the young and with the mothers of families..." (Leaves of Summer, Preface) Whitman
again describes the idea of individualism. People fear of the higher power and often let that fear
consume them, eventually eliminating the individual's ability to act freely. He implies that people
should ignore those circumstances and without

Comparing Disney And Pixar
Since this was your only feature film with Disney, how did that come about?
You usually don't get to get too close to Disney and Pixar like that unless you're a celebrity or you're
somebody on the inside or you know somebody. A lot of the journeyman work is done with a loop
group, and they pick up different characters. Friends of mine do that, and they do great.
The role came to me through my agent. It was "Project X" of course. And it was a paragraph. It was
an old–time radio announcer, and I do all those from different decades. I'm a big fan of those old
radio shows. So I just sent it in and forgot all about it. And a few weeks later, the agent calls,
"Haaay!" That's her voice when she's happy. So they flew me up to PIXAR, and I recorded up there
and did a session here at Warner Bros. with Pete Docter and the crew on the line as well. And even
then, it wasn't guaranteed that I was gonna make the cut 'cause it's PIXAR. Then we found out not
too long before the opening that in fact I was a big part of the beginning of the film, and I was
invited to the Hollywood premiere. {laughs} "Welcome to Hollywood!" That was really cool. Jon

Celebrity Humanitarianism : Bridging The Gap
A staff writer, for the Global Notebook, whose name is Emma Dwight, wrote an article titled,
"Celebrity Humanitarianism: Bridging the Gap." In her article, she discusses the difference between
generations Y and Z and how the two different generations gain and retain knowledge differently
(the older generation acquiring information from news stations or newspapers while, the younger
generation seeks information through music, television, movies, and listening to their favorite
celebrities.) She states in her article that the present generation is influenced by stars so much that
the celebrities can become either good or bad humanitarians, based on that superstar 's characteristic
qualities. In Lupe Fiasco 's music video, "Words I Never Said," an argument of the artists '
characteristics and true intentions will be tested and proven to be "good" based off references from

the film will appeal to generation Z more, which allows the generation of young people to want to

views on the American president, foreign policy, etc. unfortunately this song hasn't been included in
any shows or films that I know of, but according to Wikipedia, the song was used as a theme song
for the internet hacker group Anonymous. This song was Lupe Fiascos way of expressing his dislike
of the current United States government. He uses many controversial subjects like terrorism and
foreign policy to get his point across. By doing so he shows his listeners the corruptness of the
country. For example in his song he states "crooked banks around the world would gladly give a
loan today, so if you ever miss a payment they can take your home away."(Fiasco) in this part of his
song, he explains to us how corrupt banks scheme to make a quick profit at the expense of one of
their customers who can't afford it. ––––––––––––– The song was written as a wakeup call for the
people. Lupe has realized that people have the power to say what they want but are silenced by the
government. He tries to show this to the people in the choirs with the phrase, "it's so loud inside my
head, with

My Favorite School Field Trip
Some people wouldn't think school could be fun. All that we do is learn. All field trips we go on are
just educational and boring. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think
somewhere you've always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I
have thought plenty of times in the past that I didn't want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was
wrong and this is why.
My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to
Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn't wait to sell all of
my tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really
cool because I've never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to
where we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We
performed and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn't want to mess up since I had never
done that before.
When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get
into Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six
Flags was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us
there and my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn't wait to get there.
Once we finally arrived everyone couldn't wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really
excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close
parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the
entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller
coasters were huge. I didn't get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a
couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini
games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller
coasters. The water slide was really fun. All you had to do was go up a ramp inside a tube and the
ramp would push you down the slide while water was being splashed at

Essay about My Childhood Home
The fleeting changes that often accompany seasonal transition are especially exasperated in a child's
mind, most notably when the cool crisp winds of fall signal the summer's end approaching. The lazy
routine I had adopted over several months spent frolicking in the cool blue chlorine soaked waters of
my family's bungalow colony pool gave way to changes far beyond the weather and textbooks. As
the surrounding foliage changed in anticipation of colder months, so did my family. My mother's
stomach grew larger as she approached the final days of her pregnancy and in the closing hours of
my eight' summer my mother gently awoke me from the uncomfortable sleep of a long car ride to
inform of a wonderful surprise. No longer would we be returning ... Show more content on

I had violent, grass–stained war games with my neighborhood friends, while my mother worked in
her small vegetable garden among the honeybees, and watched things grow. An ever–present
warming smell of knishes and hot dogs permeated around every inch of my block as the nearby
concession pumped a constant flow of fresh food to hungry little leaguers and their families.
Looking up, the summer sky looked like an Easter egg God had dipped in blue dye.
Those warm summer nights after long days of camp were greatly anticipated events back then. My
cousin and I itched with repressed energy throughout the long bus ride from various tri–state area
attractions. We couldn't wait to get home and see what types of shenanigans we could get into. We
couldn't wait to slide down the steep, blue–carpeted staircase on our bottoms, and then on our
stomachs. Most of all, we couldn't wait to go down to the basement. The basement was better than a
toy store. Yes, the old–fashioned milk chute in the kitchen wall was enchanting, and the laundry
chute was fun because it was big enough to throw down my sisters stuffed companions, so my
cousin could catch them below in the laundry room, as our voices echoed up and down the chute.
But the basement was better than all of these, better even than sliding down those stairs on rug–
burned bottoms.
It was always deliciously cool down

Racial Beliefs And Its Effect On Society

  • 1. Racial Beliefs And Its Effect On Society As a young girl, I have always associated white people with the quality of being rude or racist. For example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles and comments. I vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps being a Caucasian person and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face. There is also an uneasy stare that is given while shopping, such as following African–Americans around the store to watch them make sure they are not stealing. The belief that white people are rude is not limited to black people, but other minorities as well because their cultural beliefs and practices are often disrespected. The stereotype emerged from personal experiences throughout my daily life. My mother would also agree that most individuals who are white are rude to minorities because of their sense of entitlement. She would often have to console me because, at a young age, I would acknowledge the difference in treatment I received. About other cultures, their cultural beliefs are often disregarded and are not given the time to understand. When someone is not fluent in English, they are often disregarded instead of taking the time is comprehend their statement. Blacks are typically characterized as thieves or hoodlums, Muslims are terrorist, and Mexicans are all labor workers, which are incorrect statements and over generalized. • 3. Summary Of Made In Los Angeles Made in Los Angeles The remarkable story of Made in L.A is about three immigrants from Latina, worked in a garment sweatshop company in Los Angeles. Life in the workplace was not smooth as challenges from the employer affected them leading them to campaign against the act. The story illuminates the power of unity, the courage it takes to let known of once rights and about immigration (Encore Broadcast n.p). This paper seeks to describe the problems in the documentary and the characters. It will also enlighten on the characters stories and how the stories amplify the documentary plot and social issues. The paper will even expound on the theme of conflict to analyze the documentary using the theoretical perspective. The documentary problem in the story was that the employer was harsh, ruthless and did not give the workers a conducive environment as they were overworked and still paid low wages below the minimum and thus the workers merely survived (Encore Broadcast, n.p). The employer could not contend to overtime and unpaid wages which was a significant problem facing the employees. It was problematic that the workers worked for 10–14 hours without being given breaks for either eating or even going to the bathroom which had poor ventilation. Later on, after years of meager salaries, unpaid minimum and overtime wages and also domestic abuse, Maura Colorado, Maria Pineda and Lupe Hernandez come together in unison together with other employees in their struggle and campaigning for negotiable working environment and condition and also for self–empowerment which was a battle against their employer. The Latinos' workers were motivated by the three women and to the extent of the workers announcing a lawsuit for the garment company which was a problem for the company as its reputation become known to the public. On the character stories, Lupe Hernandez was born in Mexico City and left at the age of 17. She is five foot tall, and people would make fun of her height, and she defended herself. Lupe became a fighter at an early age, and no one could afford to mess with her. She learned survival skills at an early age since she started working in Los Angeles garment factories. • 5. Hip-Hop Culture in Los Angeles, California The term "Ethnomusicology" is defined as "the study of music in its cultural context." Ethnomusicologists focus and study music in order to not only interpret its literal meaning but also to figure out its importance to its listeners and artists along with the way its purpose is communicated to its audience. . Ethnomusicology is highly versatile and multidisciplinary. People working in this sector could have solid foundations and basics of music ,dance, folklore and other different aspects related to music ,yet all ethnomusicologists share a meaningful and coherent foundation in approaches and methods followed. The audience contains a wide variety of people. The music is not just targeted to one kind of audience that is why it is widely popular because it can entertain all sorts of people. Even though the main artists that participate are African American it is still open to basically anyone that wants to give it a try and some are even famous such as singer Jay Sean. The most important part of this music culture is the lyrics. Lyrics are used to express the artist's emotions and struggles. Everybody has their own story, just as an author would write a story about it, a hip hop artist would sing about it. Some artists even try to send out messages trough their songs such as Lupe fiasco and Immortal Technique. Whatever they try to do with their songs the lyrics are the most important part to their music. Caleb exclaimed that in his songs that he talks about all aspects of love as well as trying to spread the message that people can do whatever they want and that they should never let anyone stop them. This message is evident in his song called "Blow My Mind," in which he talks about the different things he would do different from the usually routine day and he challenges you to think of what would you do if it was not the usually routine day. • 9. Kanye West, Matisyahu and Lupe Fiasco In 21st century North America, there is a strange, seemingly–unanimous idea that, to fit the norm, one must be white, Christian and male. While, over the course of the latter 20th century and in the past decade, this has changed, the norm is very much still Christian and male; African–Americans now fit into the "All–American" stereotype, for the most part. However, there are, of course, outliers – deviants from the standard norm; these outliers make one wonder what the norm truly is, why it is so, how did it get to be that way, and what the norm will be in the future. Kanye West's 2004 single titled "Jesus Walks" is written as a ode to Jesus helping him and every other Christian through hard times in their life. Sampling ... The main theme of "King Without a Crown" is that, in order to truly worship God, people need to leave their egos on the wayside and realize there is something better in life that can only be found with God. While "Jesus Walks" was more of a persuasive song, attempting to turn atheists into Christians, this is not seen in "King Without a Crown." Matisyahu is only praising God; he says, "without [God] there's no me, you're the air that I breathe," for example. Matisyahu describes his relationship with God as one that is like the relationship one has with food, for nourishment. He also says that he no longer has the need for drugs, sinesemilla, for it would "only bring [him] down." The most notable portion of the music video is at the very end; Matisyahu is walking down a street and, as he turns around a corner, meets a boy. Matisyahu touches the boy on the shoulder and, it is as though the boy has reached a sort of enlightenment. This is symbolized by the immortalization of the boy's portrait on the high, wooden fence behind them, which had previously shown a video of Matisyahu performing the song. Finally is Lupe Fiasco's "Muhammad Walks," which is a direct sample of "Jesus Walks." Everything is the same minus the lyrics, which are rapped by Lupe and is about Islam and its prophets – comparable to "Jesus Walks," but from a Muslim perspective. The most notable aspect of the song is how Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Words I Never Said By Lupe Fiasco One of the many contentious issues raised and attacked in 'Words I Never Said' by Lupe Fiasco is the issue of America's war on terror, claiming that the idea of terror is used as a front to dominate the Middle East for political and economical reasons, decreasing civil liberties and controlling the world's supply of oil. This view is one held by millions, claiming that such force isn't needed to weed out a flimsy opposition. A radical theory held by some is addressed a few lines later, asking if it was the US government that orchestrated 9/11. Although I disagree with this claim that it was an inside job, I do believe that the grief and fear of the American people was falsely harnessed and targeted to spread America's dominance across the globe, ... • 16. Kites: Prisoner 1 And 2 By Lupe Fiasco Introduction The theme of my summative is Kites. Kite in archaic mean a person who exploits or preys on others. I got here through my past knowledge on the kite runner and searching the word kite. Therefor I defined Kite as suppressing something or someone, and this brings me to Fela and Nigeria. Fela was suppressed by his government for his desire of a free Nigeria, and he expressed his desires trough his music Afrobeat. I picked the theme kites because it relates to me the most, for I have read novels and articles about countries that are being suppressed. As well as I come from the Middle East where the governments mostly try to suppress its people, I myself have origins in Iran, a country suppressed by its government and religion. I believe kite symbolize freedom and to people who are suppressed a kite flying is there is desire of freedom. For I kite fly's like birds, and birds symbolize hope and freedom, therefor kite shares the same meaning. However a kite can also mean suppressing those who hold it, for if a kite breaks, then so does your freedom. In my sources I well be relating theme kite to Fela, and how he was suppressed. I had on a red cornerstone shirt and a tennis skirt. My brown skin and dark– brown hair were burning in the sun. Mrs. Gulden, my tennis coach, was a miniscule lady with short–blonde hair. Mrs. Gaulden had just called our team over to review the line–up. As usual, I maintained my spot as the 5th seed. My team lined up and my coach called out the line–up one by one, as we met our opponents. My opponent was rather tall and maintained a menacing presence. She had medium sized light brown hair and peach colored skin. Although I can't remember my opponents name, I was startled by her presence. • 20. Poverty In Ayesha Says, By William Jaco It's no secret that poverty affects minorities not only here in America but abroad as well. Our inner cities see the blunt of legal system; with "African American males incarcerated at a rate of 4,347 per 100,000 as of 2010(Shaefer Wu Edin 89)". Ayesha Jaco, sister to rapper Lupe fiasco, wrote the spoken word poem "Ayesha Says" to shed light on injustices of a system that overwhelmingly affects minorities. Ayesha's poem directly addresses issues that have been not only plaguing the black community, but also compares the poverty we see here with the poverty we seen in conflict ridden countries. Things like police brutality and the school to prison pipeline leading to mass incarcerations of minorities overall, poverty and how it systematically affects minorities, and how people of all races and creeds are coming together to fight these injustices. She reflects on how these things impact communities and force a season of change among the people afflicted. Ayesha's starting lines "Englewood or Egypt, Bedstuy or Baghdad...the west bank or the westside of Chicago(Ayesha)", alludes to comparisons between impoverished nations overseas to impoverished areas of our country that generally occupied by minorities. This gets the ball rolling on the crux of problems that people in the ghetto face, poverty being one of them. One of these results of poverty that Ayesha mentions are that of food deserts. Matisyahu's real name is Matthew Paul Miller and he was born June 30th, 1979. He was originally born in Pennsylvania, but was raised in New York. His stage name is translated to "Gift of God" and is known mostly for his blend of Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip hop. In regards to his Jewish identity, he was brought up a Reconstructionist Jew. After this phase, Miller took part in a first–hand exploration of Jewish heritage. In return, this program was used in a way that helped solidify his Jewish identity. • 26. Analysis Of 'Dumb It Down' By Lupe Fiasco By creatively employing various literary devices and sophisticated figurative language, and relying immensely on witty word–play and double– at some instances even triple– entendre coupled with an intricate rhyme scheme, Lupe Fiasco, dubbed by some as the king of trickiness rap, takes a firm stance against those who constantly attempt to prevail on him to simplify his lyrics to comply with the current hip–hop stereotypes which could in turn improve his prospects for commercial success. Lupe Fiasco elaborated on the song on "The late show With David Letterman" by saying " 'Dumb It Down' looks at how musical entertainment as a whole is used as a distraction, as a tool, to keep people dumb, instead of focusing on real issues and solutions." Lupe grasps the attention of the listeners from the very beginning of the first verse by catchy rhymes and starting by the words "I'm fearless, now hear this" which creates in the mind of the listeners the notation that what is about be said is a bold and potentially controversial statement that requires some extent of courage to be discussed. In addition to that, beginning the verse by "I'm fearless" places him in a position of power where he fears no one and nothing which is advantageous to Lupe as it helps develop in the listeners a sense of respect for him therefore lending an ear with an open mind to what he has in store for them. I listen to music when I am bored, walking to class, at a party, going through different emotions, or basically doing anything. If you turn on your tv anything you watch has background music, we even have music in elevators, which is proving the point that humans need music. Sue Devine writes in an article that "Whether we're aware of it or not, sound and music is a primary hidden actor in our world" I think that is because it changes your mood, or fixes an awkward silence. Music is always there triggering memories and emotions, and changing our mood in an instant. This is exactly what music does for me, if i'm said i play a sad song, if I want to have fun I turn on dance music, and so on. If I sit down and watch Coming to America with Eddie Murphy and hear the song She's Your Queen my brain will automatically think of cousin who passed away. He left behind a hilarious video of him singing the song at the top of his lungs. Or if I were to hear Fight The Power, by Public Enemy which is undoubtedly a protest song, I think of the struggles we still face. The type of music you listen will determine its impact on you, whether if it is a negative or positive, message you receive. One, two, three, turn around, sit down. I slip off my shoes, exposing the embarrassingly obvious tan lines on my feet. With the rescue tube strap tossed over my head and arm, and the red foam tube resting across the armrests of the chair, I bring the plastic whistle to my mouth. A shrill, rolling sound is released: a signal to the eager children, stationed at the edge of the pool and giddy with anticipation, that the day has officially begun. The pool is open. The first fifteen minutes. The gruelling sun of two summers' of work has faded away the thrilling newness of climbing up that lifeguard stand. Growing up, the lifeguards at my neighborhood pool were viewed as celebrities by the younger kids. My friends and I admired how incredibly cool and intimidating they were. Their stands were, in our young eyes, thrones. But now that I'm on the other side of it, I laugh at the thought of lifeguards being "cool" or "intimidating." I'm far from either of those things. • 48. Essay on Words I Never Said Analysis A Contextual Analysis of "Words I Never Said" by Lupe Fiasco "Words I Never Said" is the second single released from Lupe Fiasco's third album Lasers. This single was released on February 8th, 2011 for online download. "Words I Never Said" is a very informative and somewhat opinionated song. Through his lyrics, Lupe Fiasco is trying to speak out to the people and let them know what is really going on in the world and how they should pay attention because they play a huge part in it. The lyrics refer to multiple socioeconomic and controversial political topics. He talks about the corruption within the world and how we all see it and yet no one speaks out against it. Lupe writes about the war on terror, the media, and the silence in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This lyric states how people have become blind as sheep and are now controlled by the media; having them push less important thoughts into our minds such as the problems you see on the MTV show "Jersey Shore" instead of looking at the real issues of the world. Major news stations spend half of their time on real world issues and the other half on gossip for good ratings. In his lyrics, Lupe is trying to get the media to broadcast real world problems and speak truth to the people, because right now they have the ability to control what we think about, and what we view as the truth. The most substantial message that Lupe Fiasco is trying to express with his lyrics in "Words I Never Said" is the silence in the people. Lupe is trying to tell everyone that they should speak out against all of the corrupt issues in the world, and to not be afraid of doing so because everyone else is thinking the same. He is starting to speak what is on his mind and informs everyone that it is now their turn. The entire third verse of the song expresses this with the lyrics "I think that all the silence is worse than all the violence. Fear is such a weak emotion, that's why I despise it. We scared of almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth. So scared of what you think of me, I'm scared of even telling you. Sometimes I'm like the only person I feel safe to tell it to. ... • 50. Personal Narrative: My First Football Game My leg nervously bounced up and down. Around me were rows and rows of bleachers. In front, there were several palm trees, behind an enormous pool, which glistened in the sunlight. As I glanced to my right, I noticed that there were hedges blocking a view to an outdoor area of the school. To the left was the entrance that I had come through. As I sat on the red bleachers, I thought about what I had to sit there. I was at Sacred Heart High School in Atherton, California. About a month previous to this, my dad and I had told my old water polo coach that I would be switching clubs. The change would happen in four weeks. As the days passed by, I grew more and more apprehensive. What would the new team be like? How would the coach be? Would I regret ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the very end of practice, my coach announced to the team the news of me leaving. Everyone was shocked. Nobody was expecting this to happen, especially a month and a half before the biggest national tournament. When practice ended, I slowly got changed and said goodbye to all my teammates. It was really hard to leave them, especially since I had played with some of them for almost 4 years. After I had said all of my goodbyes, I turned to my coach, whom I had known for the entire time I had played water polo, about 5 years. I took a picture with him, and started to turn away. As I was walking away, he called after me to come back. When I faced him again, he told me to remember this club, and to represent them well at my new one. I realized I had been thinking about all of this when a kid sat down behind me. Shortly after, his friends, who were talking loudly, joined him. I waited for a few minutes, and watched as more and more kids entered through the metal gates onto the beautiful pool deck. All around me were unfamiliar faces. There seemed to be no new kids like me, which made sense, for it was uncommon for a player to switch clubs right before the Junior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, outside of school, I have a whole different kind of personality which is being extroverted. I disagree with my friends in school that I have no life and have not many friends. In my friends' perspective, being extroverted means being very famous and is the kind of person who stands out from the rest, but for me, it just means that I can relate to other people by having a kind heart and an open mind. • 54. Freedom to Change Linguistic innovation is a crucial component in Hip–Hop or Rap music and in everyday life. As Curzan and Adams mention in How English Works, there are an infinite number of possible utterances one can create from the English language. Therefore, who determines what is acceptable and what is not? Over the centuries, language has changed because of different influences. For example, Hip–Hop and Rap music emerged when African Americans used it as an expression of their struggle against oppression and economic limitations. These changes may be acceptable in some circles, but are frowned upon by the society that judges a person by the way they speak. We the people change the English language and no authority can control those changes. The use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One might argue that this cannot be acceptable, perhaps for now–soon this word too will become of the vernacular of the majority. The use of creative utterances encompasses most of Jay–Z and Kanyes' lyrics. They refer to the car as a "whip" (56). There appears to be an association with a fast whipping action and the car alluding that the car is also fast. A common utterance appears in line 59, "I'm about to kill it," an expression that is used by many people. This phrase translates to be great at something and excel. One understands that he means this rather than actually about to murder something. People often say to wish them luck by expressing, "hope you kill it," or "knock them dead." This example is full of evidence f how language has changed and is changing every day. Lupe is attempting to expose how people define people by the way they speak. In How English Works, the power of language is focused on, "Words have the power to hurt ... • 56. Waterfall Short Story Waterfall The story of how I jumped off a waterfall starts one brisk morning in Costa Rica. My brother, my dad, and I woke up pretty early given the fact that we were on vacation. I wasn't too thrilled about losing out on a few hours of sleep, but my brother didn't seem to mind. As I stepped out into the cool Costa Rican air I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy the hike we would be going on. My dad said "There is a waterfall at the end of the trail, and I think we can swim in the water beneath it." None of that really excited me. I had seen quite a few waterfalls on other trips that I had been on and didn't think they were anything super special. On top of that, I could walk down to the beach and swim if I really wanted to. I would much rather go to the beach and boogie board than go see a waterfall. After a short discussion, I reluctantly got in the car. It was a long ride to the start of the trail, so I was able to get a little more sleep. For most of the ride I looked out the window at the infinite amount of trees. I don't think I had ever seen more trees in my life. They were everywhere. On both sides of the road there were tall trees with long vines hanging from them. The thing that I found more amazing was how dense the forest was. I could barely see five feet into the trees because it was so dark. The trees blocked out just about every inch of sunlight. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells, and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip–hop has persuaded a large portion of society that this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that people realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In the rap world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for rappers to show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women are inferior, but they feel treating women like a collector's item is how they should go about flaunting their new–found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos, which make other people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being able to get the best looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is to simply make money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on the younger generations. When the younger generation watch television and see artists throw money in the air, with expensive cars and women, that image is stored in their minds as the definition of success. • 62. Reflective Essay On The Written Work Process In spite of the fact that writing in school is intense at a first begin, Arrangement is the most troublesome piece of the written work process on the grounds that numerous understudies have the issue of coming up short on thoughts and they don't know where to put their writing in their paper all together for their article to be perused easily. I need to educate you concerning how I used to mastermind my papers amid the composition procedure. In secondary school, I generally had coordinated works, so I needed to consider thoughts quick. That is the reason I utilized foundation learning from data that I officially learned. In any case, it was hard for me to consider new plans to add to my paper because of the way that the greater part of my written work prompts were coordinated and nobody was permitted to utilize open book to look into any new data, which is the reason numerous understudies battled amid the composition procedure and quickly came up short on thoughts. Presently since I'm in school and my composition isn't planned, I intend to add more plans to my paper through research, for example, the Internet, magazines, podcasts, books, and so forth for any theme. Truth be told, in the event that I have a written work task that contains two prompts and I have the alternative to switch themes, I may do that too in light of the fact that numerous understudies may change starting with one point then onto the next on the grounds that they either feel more great with the subject and they can think of a bigger number of thoughts for their paper than the theme that they were at that point stayed with. My teachers once disclosed to me that it is smarter to have a greater number of thoughts than to simply stick to just a single subject since one point won't not work and you may not think of a lot of thoughts. Before concocting any thoughts for my paper, the best technique for me to organize my thoughts was on a web graph on a different sheet of paper. This strategy is superior to anything beginning to freewrite immediately on a bit of paper since when you initially compose, you're composing won't not bode well and after that there's the complexities of modification. Those "leaders" express their profound thoughts for both him and the many others that are too afraid to speak out. One of the most notorious writers in American history and is known for his transcendental ideals. However, today's society lacks individuals who parallels with Whitman. Lupe Fiasco represents the Modern American voice speaking out against the degrading world society and does so by influencing the public through their appeal of music. He rejects and contrasts from the negative influences of the world and uses his music to contradict those who degrade our society. Born in the west side of Chicago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the song, Fiasco portrays the manipulation that many are often affected by. He suggests that others should, like him, ignore what others think and act purely on what you believe. Fiasco uses the analogy of slaves to describe the similar effects of losing one's individuality. The experiences one would face if he/she succumbs into the negative influences of others would be similar to that of African American slaves. Because of human nature, jealousy exists amongst every individual and by allowing others to control aspects of your life, he/she will be able harm those dependent variables of one's life. Similarly, Whitman states that one should freely "...give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families..." People fear of the higher power and often let that fear consume them, eventually eliminating the individual's ability to act freely. In her article, she discusses the difference between generations Y and Z and how the two different generations gain and retain knowledge differently (the older generation acquiring information from news stations or newspapers while, the younger generation seeks information through music, television, movies, and listening to their favorite celebrities.) She states in her article that the present generation is influenced by stars so much that the celebrities can become either good or bad humanitarians, based on that superstar 's characteristic qualities. The song was recorded in late 2010 but was later released on February 8, 2011. It ranked 89th on the billboards 100 at the time of its released. It was not as high ranked as other songs in it genre but I served its purpose in my opinion. In some aspects it was infamous for its "out of the bod" views on the American president, foreign policy, etc. unfortunately this song hasn't been included in any shows or films that I know of, but according to Wikipedia, the song was used as a theme song for the internet hacker group Anonymous. This song was Lupe Fiascos way of expressing his dislike of the current United States government. He uses many controversial subjects like terrorism and foreign policy to get his point across. By doing so he shows his listeners the corruptness of the country. For example in his song he states "crooked banks around the world would gladly give a loan today, so if you ever miss a payment they can take your home away."(Fiasco) in this part of his song, he explains to us how corrupt banks scheme to make a quick profit at the expense of one of their customers who can't afford it. ––––––––––––– The song was written as a wakeup call for the people. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think somewhere you've always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I have thought plenty of times in the past that I didn't want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was wrong and this is why. My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn't wait to sell all of my tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really cool because I've never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to where we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We performed and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn't want to mess up since I had never done that before. When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get into Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six Flags was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us there and my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn't wait to get there. Once we finally arrived everyone couldn't wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller coasters were huge. I didn't get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller coasters. The water slide was really fun. As the surrounding foliage changed in anticipation of colder months, so did my family.
