Travel can be exciting, but it can also be tiring. Very, very tiring. Especially if you're crossing through multiple time zones. Fortunately, there are some very simple ways to keep you feeling great throughout.
3. Many people plan their travels for months and
even years before departure dates happen. If
that’s the case with an upcoming trip on your
schedule, give your body the chance to start
adjusting to time zone variations for at least a
couple weeks before you leave.
4. When going east, start adapting to an earlier
bedtime, and if heading east, delay going to bed
as much as possible.
6. To pass time more effectively, travelers often
decide to use the hours it takes to reach a
destination for sleeping, believing that choice
will give them more energy later. In reality, that
could throw off your body’s clock.
7. If you’re traveling when you normally sleep, it
makes sense to try and stick to that schedule.
However, if you’re getting where you need to go
during the middle of the day and don’t feel the
least bit sleepy, catching some slumber will
probably be a lost cause that results in a lot of
frustration.
9. Even if you’re traveling within the same time
zone, you still may feel less energetic than
normal, simply because travel can bring unusual
stresses along with it.
10. If your schedule allows, set aside a couple days at
the beginning of your trip and after coming
home either get used to your new destination or
make a smoother transition back to ordinary life.
You don’t have to use the days solely for rest, but
aim to take it easier than you otherwise might.
11. Sometimes it’s not possible to completely
overcome being tired due to travel. However,
these tips could help you stay as close to peak
energy levels as possible.
