Richard I: Astute politician who figth
against the faithful barons of his father.
Always tried to serve the interests of his kingdom and his
objectives rather than those of the church.
ECONOMY
Richard I pressed the clergy with many
taxes and create the company's papacy,
"crusade".
SOCIETY
•The society was militarized
• The King was always in the crusade, the people
had a sense of abandonment.
SOCIAL
SCALE
•Rule from 3 September of 1189 to
1199. He was a crusader.
•King of England, went few time to
England.
•1173-1174 and 1188-1189 rebeled
against his father. His father died he
became king.
•When he become king he wanted to kill
all the Jews, London people started a
massacre.
LEGACY
Richards legacy have various aspects:
• Conquest of Cyprus: improved immensely the value of maintaining
the kingdoms francs in the Holy Land viable for another century.
• His absence from the political English arena meant that the great
government, but the King Juan led to the bankruptcy.
• He left romances and literature. He left an indelible mark in the
popular imagination, that extends to the present.
CRUSADES
-The Pope Inocencio III
wanted to organize the third
crusade to recover the Holy
Land.
-Richard I sold jewels.
-Joined, Felipe Augusto and
Richard of England.
-The crusade began in 1190.
-Messina and Chipre in 1190
and Acre in 1991.
