The US population has become more diverse over the past decade and will continue to change. Construction firms have had to adapt how they recruit, train, and ensure safety as their workforce has become predominantly Hispanic/Latino. Harley-Davidson increased minority and women representation by 20% which grew their customer base of African Americans, Latinos, and women. Long-haul trucking companies are focusing on recruiting and training women to address an expected shortage of 111,000 drivers by 2014.
