1. The use of student generated
webpages to improve revision
and ongoing mathematical
development
THEME: IMPLEMENTATION BY ANGELA PHILLIPS
2. Why look at revision?
Slater (2012) suggests:
◦Revision is an area that is often not taught well.
◦Revision is sometimes not taught at all.
◦High school students often find revision difficult.

3. Implementation?
Why is implementation important?
How the project was implemented
A pilot project will be trialled using a pilot group of students
The students will be given a basic brief and will be allowed to use the
web tool of their choice
The students will be encouraged to be creative problem solvers who
make the decisions about their learning
The results will be shown as a Case Study
The project will then be improved before continuing
4. Who was the pilot group?
Angela Phillips’s Year 8 class from 2014 where chosen.
Reasons for choice of group included:
Year 8 is the first year of Senior School in South Australia
The students had already completed a Mathematics Examination in
Semester 1, which gave them some basis to compare their
experiences
The students do not have any external examinations during Year 8
The data from the group could be compared with the groups data
from Semester 1 and other groups data

12. The Goal
To improve revision techniques,
by integrating the use of
technology to encourage life
long learning.
13. In Summary
→The pilot group enjoyed the project
→The pilot group felt they had learned new revision skills
→The pilot group felt the activity had encouraged them to spend
more time revising
→The pilot group will continue to develop their webpages, if
encouraged by their teacher
→Review of results
→Review again in a year
