Bleached silk fabrics were dyed with dye extract. The wetted out silk samples were put into different dye baths containing required amount of dye
extract and water. After 10 minutes required amount of sodium sulphate was added. After 20 minutes required amount ofsodium chloride was added.

Abstract
In this paper, an artificial food dye will be made to mimic the color of Full Throttle. To determine what food dye are needed, Full Throttle will be put
through a spectrometer to determine what wavelengths are absorbed. Specific wavelengths absorbed will correspond to specific colors absorbed. It
was determined that yellow 5 and yellow 6 will be used to make our artificial food dye to mimic Full Throttle. Using Beer's Law, it was determined
that a concentration of 0.0000236 moles of Yellow 5 and a concentration of 0.0001494 moles of yellow 6. Using our line of best fit from the

When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best fit were giving numbers that were extremely small. After help
from the TA, it was found that our concentrations used where twice as small of a concentration compared to what was actually used for Full Throttle.
To correct this the molarity's were multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28–5
moles. To correct this, that number is multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^–5. This new number is what was used in the equation
c1v1=c2v2. After the solution was made to mimic Full Throttle it was discovered that the beverage only had one food dye. The experiment was
intended to have a beverage with two food dyes present. To make up for this, orange PowerAde was used and the experiment was repeated for
orange PowerAde. The solution was made for the orange PowerAde and its absorption graph was compared to that of the diluted orange PowerAde
solution. Comparing the two graphs, have the same peaks although these peaks are at different absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same
peaks it is safe to assume that the same food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that there are two peaks in each graph despite
only seeing one peak. This is because both peaks are located so close to each other that they merge as one overall peak. When comparing the two

The dye studied in this experiment comes from a group of dyes called azo dyes. These dyes are arranged as two aromatic rings connected by two
double–bonded nitrogen atoms (R–N=N–R). The two nitrogen atoms being double bonded together cause the color that the dye produces. Azo violet
is also used in labs as a pH indicator because of the fact that it turns from an yellow–orange color in acidic and neutral environments (and also when
used as a dye) to a deep purple in basic environments. The amount and locations of double bonds in the molecule determine the color given off. The
electrons have a lower threshold to overcome when changing energy levels if the double bonds are numerous and located close to each other. As a

3.1. DYES AND CHEMICALS
Six reactive azo dyes namely, Reactive Violet 5, Reactive Red 2, Reactive Orange 16, Reactive Blue 4, Reactive Black 5 and Reactive Green 19A were
generous gifts from Colors India Inc. Pvt. Ltd. Ahmedabad, India. All these dyes were of industrial grade and are widely used in textile industries.
Reactive Violet 5 (vinyl sulfone as a reactive group) and Reactive Red 2 (triazin as a reactive group) were used as model azo dyes in this study. All
required chemicals and solvents used in the study were of analytical grade and were procured from popular chemical firms (SRL and S.D. Fine
Chemicals, Mumbai, India). Biochemical and physiological test kits were obtained from Hi–media, Mumbai, India. The TLC plates were purchased
from Merck India limited.
3.2. PREPARATION OF MEDIA AND REAGENTS
The Mineral Salts Medium (MSM) was prepared as per Brilon et al., (1981) with some modifications. The MSM contained of following
constituents (g/l): Na2HPO4.2H2O (12.0), KH2PO4 (2.0), NH4NO3 (0.50), MgCl2.6H2O (0.10), Ca(NO3)2.4H20 (0.050), FeCl2.4H20 (0.0075)
with 10 ml of trace element solution per liter. The trace element solution was prepared as follows (mg/l): ZnSO4.7H2O (10.0), MnCl2.4H2O (3.0),
CoCl2.6H2O (1.0), NiCl2.6H2O (2.0), Na2MoO4.2H2O (3.0), H3BO3 (30.0), CuCl2.2H2O (1.0). Further, MSM was blended with different

Dyeing Studies of Wool Fibers with Madder
In this study, the dyeing behavior of wool fabrics with madder has been studied. Also, the effect of different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous
chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I, II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as well as three mordanting procedures namely pre–,
meta– and post–mordanting on color characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated. The adsorption isotherm of madder on wool fibers was
found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation to
mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed
that all the dyed samples, mordanted and unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium dichromate,
ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous
chloride, alum resulted in the lighter and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed the minimal color
difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties indicated that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted
samples were higher than the unmordanted one.

The decolorization potential of microorganism was assessed by examining its ability to degrade various textile dyes. All 10 dyes monitored
showed decolorization as follows: Reactive Yellow 84 (complete decolorization in 5 h), Reactive Green 19A (95% in 24 h) , Reactive Red 120
(complete decolorization in 6 h), Reactive Blue 160 (complete decolorization in 3 h), Reactive Red 31(complete decolorization in 6 h), Solvent Red
24 (complete decolorization in 8 h), Basic Green 4 (80% in 24 h), Diamond Green 4 (complete decolorization in 24 h), Pigment Orange 31 (complete

incubation suggesting the absence of abiotic decolorization. As RO16 showed complete decolorization in 2 h, this industrially important toxic azo dye
was taken for further studies. Lysinibacillus sp. RGS could decolorize RO16 rapidly and thus was found to be better than the bacterial consortium
DAS reported by Jadhav et al (2011). To confirm the decolorization, UV–Vis spectroscopic analysis was carried out. The absorption spectra of RO16

The ability of Pleurotus citrinopleatus and Aspergillus niger exposed to two doses of gamma irradiation (1 and 2 KGy) and immobilized on wheat
straw to decolorize the dyes had been studied. Table 2 shows peaks of wavelengths of different types of dyes before and after decolorization. Peaks of
