Every community has its own set of standards that the members adhere to and uphold. These
ideologies are often unspoken ways of thinking, and while they reflect the society's values, they are
often represented in a distorted manner so that the social system stays in order. Interpellation, on the
other hand, is what discreetly holds each person in their societal position, often based on ideologies.
Whether we realize it or not, the culture industry plays up on our societal ideologies, especially in
movies and television programs. Think of a typical children's TV sitcom; most of these programs
depict a white, middle–class, suburban family with two heterosexual parents, three children, a pet.
Each element of this "average family" is ideological in assuming that the audiences expects and
believes in, or are a part of, this familial structure. By endorsing these ways of thinking, the program
is relating to the audience and validating their beliefs. For example, a young girl interpellates when
she recognizes herself as a daughter, and thus, she gives her parents power.
Children's television is not the only ideology industry; all forms of entertainment often reflect
multiple ideologies at any given moment. Tina Fey's satirical comedy, 30 Rock, provides plenty of
nods to ideologies surrounding the workplace, specifically the entertainment business. In the fifth

hearted. Stalin now had the power to become an absolute dictator, and he took the opportunity at
hand. Russia is now in the hands of a very terrible ruler, Joseph Vladimir, or after he changed his
name to Stalin, meaning man of steel. He has gotten rid of the republic that was once Russia, and
turned it into his country and no one else's. Most of the Bolsheviks leaders are rounded up and killed
by Stalin during the great purge. He gets rid of every Bolsheviks idea for the government, and
makes up his own dictatorship called totalitarianism. Stalin caused police terror, indoctrination, and
censorship. The censorship that Stalin used everything that was read or watched. He wanted the
media to portray him as a hero, kids would stand in front of their desks and say, thank comrade

there are certain events which spark much controversy, both at the time of the event and by
historians today. One of these controversial acts was the invocation of the War Measures Act in
1970, an act which suspended the civil liberties of Canadian citizens. In October 1970, in what
became known as the October Crisis, the Front de libération du Québec, (commonly known as the
FLQ) which was a French Canadian organization advocating independence from Canada, kidnapped
two politicians. This initiated a series of events, one of which was the invocation of the War

give into the FLQ demands, External Affairs Minister Mitchell Sharp even claimed the demands to
be "wholly unreasonable," despite the fact the life of a prominent politician was at stake. On
October 10th 1970, Bourassa finally comes back to Quebec from his a trip in New York, which he
deemed as more significant than the crisis in Quebec. Later that evening, two FLQ members

Themes Of Osmosis Jones Monomyth
Osmosis Jones and the Monomyth Osmosis Jones tells the story of a white blood cell who plays the
role of a policeman inside a man named Frank. Teamwork is the central theme in Osmosis Jones,
and is developed through the monomyth. The monomyth or hero's journey shows the steps that most
movies go through, for example, The Matrix, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games. Most of these stories
pass through twelve specific steps. According to Joseph Campbell, in his book, The Hero With a
Thousand Faces, "The monomyth is a structure that is common in many heroic stories, an outline
that has existed for millennia." This story follows the main steps within the monomyth, while each
step helps strengthen the theme. Osmosis Jones, the main protagonist, lives his everyday life as a
rebellious germ policeman in the mouth. The first step of the monomyth, or his call to adventure is
when Frank, the body he is trying to protect, contracts a deadly virus named Thrax. Thinking Thrax
was just a common cold Frank consumes a pill called Drixenol. Drixenol, also known as Drix,
befriends Jones as they are assigned partners on the cold case. Drix helps fulfill the second step of
the monomyth, and becomes Jones assistance. This is where the two join as one and become a team.
Although Jones and Drix go through a lot of small trials their first big trial, and the third step of the
monomyth, is their encounter with Thrax in the nose. While in Franks nose Thrax turns the pressure
pods up which destroys all the walls in his nostril. This causes a runny nose which Jones and Drix
struggle to contain. After the nose incident Jones and Drix work together to extract evidence from
the old know–it–all chicken pox influenza. With Jones smooth talking and Drix's big gun they use
teamwork to beat the truth out of the old timer. Knowing all about Thrax they set off to find and
defeat the menacing virus. Finally, they find Thrax at a new club on Franks forehead named The Zit.
As they listen in on Thrax's plan to kill Frank within forty–eight hours they are discovered. Through
teamwork they destroy The Zit and all the germs within it including Thrax, or so they think. Thrax
miraculously survives the explosion and moves forward with his plan to kill Frank.

The War Measures Act During The September Crisis
Pierre Trudeau is one of Canada's most renowned Prime Ministers. He was in office April 20, 1968,
to June 4, 1979, and later on March 3, 1980, to June 30, 1984,.¹ An event that Pierre Trudeau is well
known for is the enactment of the War Measures Act during the October Crisis. This decision to
invoke the War Measures Act during the October Crisis has led to a great deal of controversy on
whether the act was justified. The October Crisis was a series of events in October 1970, these
events began with the kidnappings of James Cross and later Pierre Laporte by the group known as
the FLQ (Front de libération du Québec) the group's main goals were to create an independent
Quebec.2 The group resorted to terrorist acts in order to achieve those goals, this later led to Prime
Minister Pierre Trudeau invoking the War Measures Act. The War Measures Act was a federal
statute adopted by parliament during WWI and has been used 3 times; during WWI, WWII and
during the October Crisis. The act gives major power to the Canadian government to uphold security

When I first began working in the music industry I knew that it was a cutthroat business. From the
growing competition all the way down to the tight deadlines, I knew that a career in this field would
be something that everyone has to fight for. I always admired the people in the industry who fought
for the rights of their creativity and stood up to the big name corporations that casted a shadow over
this industry. One particular group of artists that I've admired for years now because of this is the
band 30 Seconds to Mars. It was through 30 Seconds to Mars that I learned to always fight for my
own creativity and fight for what I believe is truly right. After a successful worldwide tour that
lasted nearly two years, the band had returned home to Los Angeles to work out a new contract with

parliament or duma, which pleased the liberals. However, then in April 1906, he published the
fundamental laws which stated that he still had overall control over Russia. Also, throughout the
years 1905–1917 there were a number of dumas, all set up and subsequently dissolved by the Tsar
when he believed they were getting to powerful. Also, in early 1917 236 of the duma's 422 deputies

the autobiography, she utilized different structural devices to portray her life, such as chronological
order, lists, sub–chapters, and footnotes. The way Ms. Fey arranged her book undoubtedly affected

In the years leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917, the country had a succession of wars.
These were, The Crimean War (1854–56), The Russo–Turkish War (1877–78), The Russo–Japanese

tax dollars and manpower. Russia suffered defeat in all, except against Turkey. This series of war

The October Revolution was interpreted quite differently by those hostile to the Communist leaders
of the Soviet Union. In their "'top–down' histories of the Russian Revolution– the common people
appeared as the passive objects of the evil machinations of the Bolsheviks."4 The Bolsheviks
cynically adopted populist and anarchist slogans in order to recruit the masses as foot soldiers in
their own quest for power. If any apparent support for the October Revolution was seen among the
masses, it was the product of ignorance, skilled propaganda and a supple improvisation by the
Bolsheviks themselves, who "transformed their elite operation into a temporary mass organization"5
to seduce the Russian masses. The 'socialist reality of October' was imaginary, and the Revolution
itself was an "amateur police operation" masked with expert propaganda to give "an appearance of
proletarian legitimacy"6
Both of these interpretations are heavily politicized. The former's purpose was to establish the
legitimacy of the Soviet Union as the genuine embodiment of the will of the Russian Proletariat, the
authentic People's State. The latter was meant to strip the USSR of that legitimacy and expose the
