Beep Classical Conditioning Project
AP Psychology Classical Conditioning Project Hypothesis : If I pair a beep with flipping to the next card then the subject will anticipate the swap and
focus on the next upright facing card of the deck. What I am trying to teach : When a beep is sounded the next card will be presented Unconditioned
Stimulus – Flip of current card Unconditioned Response – Focus on the next upright card of the deck Conditioned Stimulus – A monotone beep
(occurred every 10 seconds) Conditioned Response – Focus on the next upright card of the deck Operational Definition of Conditioned Response –
Eyes shift to look at deck of cards (All facing with face side up) Summary : For the experiment I followed the following steps. First, I told them they
were to memorize the cards I presented to them, but they did not have to know them in order. This command was purely so they would focus on the
cards,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, when the first beep went off (as it did in ten–second intervals) I flipped over the current card and slide the other face up card from the deck in its
position. The reason the cards in the deck were face up as well was to provide incentive to look at the deck when the beep went off. I repeated this
process five times, on the fifth time I did nothing when it beeped and let the cards sit as they were. Then after that on the next beep I followed the
process like normal but only gave them half the time to memorize the card and flipped it over before the next beep went off. Overall the
experiment did not go as smoothly as hoped, only one of the subjects displayed distress in the form of saying "it beeped" when the card had not been
flipped. When I debriefed each of the subjects all of them said they wondered why I hadn't flipped the card when the beep went off and surprised them
when I flipped it early, showing

Beep...Beep...Beep... The sound of the heart monitor filled the room as I slowly woke up from surgery. I was about four years old and had gotten
diagnosed with reflux of the kidney's which is when the fluid in your kidneys cycles through them twice and causes them to work overtime and
can lead to kidney failure. My older sister had this same problem and it was because of her diagnosis the doctors also had me get tested. My surgery
took place at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. During the surgery the doctors corrected a valve in my kidneys so it worked like it was suppose to and
stopped fluid from flowing backwards. I was a scared going into it because I had never had a surgery before and didn't know what to expect.
I awoke to different gifts, one gift I had wanted the most was a doctor kit. It was my favorite thing. I loved the stethoscope and constantly played with
it. In almost every picture of me with the little yellow plastic stethoscope, I have it on my head upside down. It made me look like a Teletubbie. I also
got a babydoll that was dressed up like Winnie the Pooh. My family had come to the hospital to visit me and they left notes on the whiteboard even
though I couldn't read them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

addition to the playroom I loved being pushed in this little car up and down the hall. The hospital I stayed in also had a piano that I constantly got
taken down to so I could sit and attempt to play it. Much like my piano skills my love for music hasn't

Narrative Essay: The Vietnam War
"World War II is finally at it's end! Look forward to a life without worry or stress..." These voices blaring from the radio filled Alana Hiroto's head
as she tried to not drift off to sleep and ate her now soggy and tasteless Cheerios. She was not looking forward to catching the smelly old school bus
that would be honking at her front door any minute. As Alana listened to the radio, she realized she honestly didn't care much about the nuclear war
she knew was going on between her home country, Japan, and some other countries she didn't know the names of. Alana only knew that Mr. Yuin, her
Social Studies teacher, would give them two whole points of extra credit if they completed the extra homework assignment on the ongoing war. Alana
lived a pretty mellow life with her mom and brother, who was two years older than her and such a moody teenager. They lived in their little hometown
of Kaita, Japan, just next door to the massive cities of Hiroshima and Hatsukaichi. Their neighborhood was right in the heart of their city's main town,

decided right at that moment she would figure out the code; she would unlock its messages and see what was happening in the outside world and
with her family. Alana raced to the back of the narrow room at the end of the hallway where a bed and a bookcase were placed against the wall. She

Beep Bop Music Analysis
In my perceptive racism has been within the music industry for decades. This has caused many rivalries between record labels such as ASCAP and
AFM American Federation of Musicians. During the Swing Era authoritative intuitions created laws over the rights of Musicians. This led to the
separation of Big Bands declining along with war and deaths of jazz musicians. The music industry has focused mainly on marketing to target the
general audience the Caucasian population. Many musicians went in their own direction. For example: Charlie Parker created the sound of Beep bop
music. "In a small group format, highly individual expression focused on the player's originality and improvised skill" (Star, Waterman 192). I agree

The Energy Interplay System Within The 20 Metre Beep Test
This report will discuss the work of the energy interplay system in relation to a subject's result in the 20 metre beep test . Energy system interplay
refers to the work done by the three energy systems (ATP–PC, Anaerobic and Aerobic) to provide the body with the necessary amount of adenosine
triphosphate (ATP) to complete certain physical activities depending on their intensity and duration. As stated before the three energy systems used by
the body are the ATP–PC, anaerobic glycolysis and aerobic system. The ATP–PC and anaerobic glycolysis system (also known as lactic acid system)
are anaerobicly based meaning that they don't need a sufficient amount of oxygen to produce ATP. The aerobic system requires oxygen to produce ATP
hence its name. All three system have fuels' which produce energy. The ATP
–PC uses phoso creatine and creatine phosphate, the lactic acid system
uses glycogen and the aerobic system uses glycogen and triglycerides . Glycolysis refers to the breaking down of glycogen to from glucose which
is used in ATP. The beep test is the subject received a score 13.5, this meant that the subject covered a distance of 2460 metres and ran for a period of
13 minutes and 2 seconds. Their starting heart rate was 110 and they reached a maximum of 197. Lastly their final rate of perceived exertion (RPE)
was 9 meaning they found themselves working 'really, really hard' and at maximum intensity at the completion of the test. Figure 3 showcases a

BEEP BEEP BEEP. I swing in the direction of the alarm that reminds me that today I am not allowed to sleep in. I hear a loud thud as the alarm
clock goes crashing to the ground. What's today? Tuesday. Great. My least favorite day. I grudgingly yank the covers off and immediately regret it
as the coldness of the room hits me like a wave, immediately waking me up. I shiver as I quickly get ready to go to school. Just as I am getting
ready to bolt out the door to run off to the ancient seeming bus that picks me up every morning and brings me to the prison that I am forced to go to, I
glance at the clock. YES, IT'S FINALLLY HALLOWEEN! Then I bolt out the door so I am not late.
"Goodbye students. Safe trick or treating!" Sings the teacher as I dash out the door. I need to quickly get home or I will be late for meeting up
with the group. I get on the bus and stare out the window as Swiss Point is slowly drifting away from my thoughts. Nothing seems to be going on
as I stare out the window and drift into the land of my thoughts. I have to pick out a cool costume so they think I am cool like them. I can't wear the
costume my little sis made for me. That isn't cool, I'd just look stupid. I'll just have to sneak past her and my parents so they don't make me wear
it. Time slips away as I ponder more and soon I am at my stop. I snap out of my trance when I hear the bus door click as it opens. I quickly fumble with
my stuff as I attempt to make my way out of the bus.
7:00 P.M, finally time to meet up with the group. I glare at my sister's costume she made for me to wear tonight. She's so annoying. I can't wear
that. But she made it for me to wear tonight and she will be so upset if I don't wear it. I push that thought out of my mind as I put on my cool
costume of a werewolf that I secretly bought without my parents knowing. This is cool enough, right? Yeah. Mabey. I finish getting my costume on
and slowly open my door. A loud creak comes from my door. I curse my door for being so loud that and look down the hallway. No one. Perfect. I
slowly make my way down the hallway and towards the front door. "BYE! I'M LEAVING TO GO MEET UP WITH SOME FRIENDS!", I yell as I
quickly close the door behind me.

The Flash-Beep Experiment
Introduction: The flash–beep experiment demonstrates that auditory information can be disruptive to our visual acuity. It is believed that competing
cues from an auditory stream has a greater influence than visual cues. In this illusion, the researchers overlay multiple auditory beeps, perceived to be
occurring simultaneously when a black dot is rapidly flashed. Human observers are asked to determine the number of dots from the various sensory
information presented. Testers were looking "to assess how the presence of different competing stimuli affect visual and auditory temporal
perception"(Bizley et al.). They found that subjects overwhelmingly misreported the visual event when presented with conflicting auditory information
even though they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brain groups together the correct combination of visual and sound components to create recognizable, external objects. Not unlike the original
flash–beep illusion, auditory distractors greatly influence visual streams, regardless of the proximity of the source of the sound. Despite the fact that
the researchers set up the stimulus design and gave instruction to the subjects to produce weaker binding of inputs than in a natural setting, they
observed a strong influence of auditory information.
The study also finds that the interference in the flash–beep illusion is similar to the within–modality interference from a competing same–modality
stream. "Results reveal imperfect and obligatory within– and across–modality integration of information," (Bizley et al.) and the researchers believe
that the level of these interactions depends on feature binding as an object. The mechanism that the brain uses to integrate signals from audio and
visual modalities seems to be similar to Bayesian inference which is a theory that suggests the brain makes educated guesses based on the limited
information

Cardio Respiratory Endurance Lab Report
Cardio–respiratory endurance is the ability of the lungs and heart to use and transport oxygen over an extended period of physical activity. To
effectively measure the cardio–respiratory endurance of the individuals in our class, a multi–stage fitness test (commonly know as the beep test) was
performed. Cones are placed 20m away from each other on a flat, non–slip surface as participants are required to run from one end at the sound of a
recorded 'beep' noise and must reach the other side before the next beep. The starting speed is quite slow but as the test progresses the beeps
gradually get faster. Each beep marks a new round/level reached. Participants must keep up with the pace of the beeps for as long as possible. Once
they cannot run any longer they drop out of the test and record the level in which they lasted till. The reason this method is a very effective way to...

Once at the heart, the blood enters through the left atrium and is pushed to the left ventricle before being pushed out of the aorta to circulate throughout
the body. After the oxygenated blood has reached the organs and tissues it is moved through the capillaries into veins where it travels back towards the
heart where it enters the right atrium then gets pushed through the right ventricle then pulmonary artery where the blood will reach the lungs to be
oxygenated once again. This process of blood traveling throughout the body is known as the Circulatory system. The role of the respiratory system in
the beep test is too inspire oxygen for the blood to use and expire the carbon dioxide from the blood and the air. The role of the Circulatory system is
to distribute the oxygenated blood around the body for the tissues and organs to use so the body can perform, then transport the deoxygenated blood
back to the heart to be pumped back to the

Energy Drinks And Athletic Performance
Introduction
Energy drinks, are beverages that contain large doses of sugar (up to a quarter cup per can), caffeine and other ingredients, like the stimulatory herb
Guarana and the amino acid Taurine. Dr. Erin Duchan, a pediatrician and co–author of a review of the current science about energy drinks for athletes,
published recently in The Physician and Sports Medicine, said "There's good evidence that caffeine is ergogenic (substance used for the purpose of
enhancing performance) " and "it can, in the right circumstances, improve athletic performance.' (Duchan, 2014)
The aim of this investigation is to see whether Mother energy drinks increase athletic performance. The hypothesis that will be tested is that 'If a person
consumes an energy drink they will run further in the beep test.'
The independent variable is the Energy drink and the dependent variable is the athletic performance – how long someone can run the beep test until
they can no longer run. In this investigation there are various factors that need to be kept constant in order to achieve the best results, these include the
environment – the place it is performed e.g. if one is performed on a tennis court the second one will need to be performed on a tennis court, the
weather conditions should be similar, the energy drink – type and amount, participants, time of day practical is performed and participants should wear
similar clothing in each test – same shoes (running shoes) and type of clothing,

"Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep" Kissy's alarm went off, gesturing for her to start up for the day. Kissy went through her normal morning routine, then
caught a ride from her best friend Ibbie, and they both continued on to the school day. Kissy was a normal 14 year old girl. She's got light brown
hair, hazel eyes, and was pretty tall for her age. "Kissy has been acting strange lately, not talking very much." It seems she wants to be outcast from us
all. She hasn't even been talking to me lately, which is weird, because we're like besties." says Ibbie.

At lunch, Kissy sat by leah. The cook had made mac & cheese and hot dogs for the kids. Anyways, Kissy and Leah talked about the location of the

The house was also a school, which made it easier to learn so the kids didn't have to go to a separate school that didn't necessarily know how to deal
with their condition.
Kissy was to start class on Monday. The school offered a variety of classes, but required the core classes. Kissy decided to take two different
technology classes and a phy ed class. She only chose these classes because they were the ones Jacob was in, even though she hates computers and
technology. She would much rather write and read for all of her classes. It is all for Jacob.
Kissy turned into that girl who does everything in her life only to impress Jacob and get him to like her. Kissy was actually pretty successful at this
task, Jacob began to take interest in Kissy. They started hanging out more and more, eventually started

at 8:40, she would never board the bus on time! Amanda put on her school uniform, ate breakfast, and brushed her teeth as fast as she could but
she was too late. When she was running down her driveway, she saw the bus driving away. With no choice left, she was running down the sidewalk
going as fast as her legs would take her. Consequently, she was not looking down and tripped over a branch. She crashed onto the ground and saw a

Their expressions turned from grim sadness to utter joy. Paul spoke up first pointing north and said, "The footprints are heading over there!" Everyone
headed over to Paul following the trail. It took over an hour until the footprints stopped right at a doorstep to an immense 3 story house. In their heads
all of them knew that the house they were looking at was Amanda's prison.
Through a loudspeaker a police officer said, "David Plume please get out of the house and no one will get hurt." The detectives alerted the police of
their findings and the police rushed over to the house. The police barricaded the entrances with the cars so the criminal could not get away. The
police officer shouted again, "If you do not come down here we will use force!" There was no response but that was all the police needed to crash open
the door and start exploring.
The police and the detectives looked everywhere. Rooms, under tables, the garage, the backyard pretty much anywhere you could think of they
looked. They were about to leave when they heard a gut wrenching scream. They looked to find where the horrifying scream was and found
themselves looking at a floorboard. They pried it open and saw an alarming sight. Amanda in chains with David Plume having a knife at her neck.

The Recovery Room And Hear The Steady Beep Of The Vitals...
I step into the recovery room and hear the steady beep of the vitals machine. My bone marrow donor is wide awake and sitting up in bed; he is in
recovery following his marrow stem cell donation. I immediately notice his beaming smile, a sharp contrast to the drab hospital room and a
remarkable reaction considering all he has been through that morning. I sit down and speak to him to assess his health and ensure he is recovering as
expected. His first question for me is not about his own health, but the health of another patient to whom he has been willing to donate, a person he
doesn't know, has never met, and may never even have the opportunity to communicate with depending on where they are being treated. I assure him
that his donated cells have been processed and transported successfully, but we will not know anything specific about the recovery of his recipient for
about another 30 days. He relaxes his body back slightly on the hospital bed and continues to smile. I haven't told him anything he doesn't already know,
yet a sense of fulfillment seems to wash over and emanate from him. His contentment is infectious. When I began my work as a donor coordinator for
unrelated stem cell transplants at
Georgetown University Hospital in August 2014, I did not expect to become so deeply affected by various aspects of my job. Certainly, I've been
moved by my donors' selflessness, their generosity, and their altruism. But what has impressed me the most is their sheer enthusiasm

and that's at the end of the poem. Some may infer that the poem may be about cars or the sound the horn makes. The poem mentions several different
things. In the first stanza it talks about how there isn't anything left to write about, how everything that can be said has already been written. "... but
there's almost nothing that hasn't been said." The poem also makes a reference to the Kent state massacre, "... and they don't understand at Kent state

Beep Brennan Narrative
Beep, Beep, Beep. The alarm starts buzzing at 6:30 AM sharp. Brennan lets out a huge sigh and tries to forget everything by going deeper and
deeper into his blankets. When he grudgingly gives in to the endless noise of the alarm he slams his bare knuckle hands onto the alarm to shut it

Beep Test Score Essay
Discussion
The purpose of this lab was to determine if the subject's beep test score will be altered after changing their diet. The subject is put on an increased
protein diet for three weeks, while playing competitive hockey (see table 1). It was hypothesized that an increase in protein intake will have no effect
on performance during the beep test and therefore the subject will have no change in their final beep test score. Three weeks after the increased protein
diet the subject performed another beep test to see any changes in the beep test score. The results indicated minimal change in the beep test score
from an initial score of 7 to a final score of 6.5 (see tables 2 &3). This showed that increasing protein did not affect the subject's ... Show more content

In relation to perceived exertion the subjects breathing rate stayed constant (see figure 2) because protein intake did not affect the subject's
performance and output. In other words, the hypothesis was proven to be true because protein intake did not affect the subject's ability to perform in
the final beep test, which is why the score obtained only had minimal changes from the beep test before the protein intake. Even though increased
protein did not affect the subject's performance, it was still used during recovery, which is why the subject could recover from dry land training the
night before and still fill good to perform the beep test the next day. According to Cordain and Friel (2012) protein intake throughout the day, helps
repair damaged muscle tissue. Therefore, over the three weeks the subject's body was utilizing the protein intake as source to repair any tears in the
muscle tissue, which lead to a better recovery. Given the following information the hypothesis was proved to be accurate because protein intake did not
affect the subject's performance during the beep test. However, to get a better understanding of increased protein intake, there should be a study
performed to estimate how much time and protein the body requires to repair damaged muscle tissue after

my dismay, I miscalculated my distance from the edge and my idea did not go as planned. To say the least, I immediately began considering
carpeting the bedroom floor. I sleepily made my way to the kitchen, using precautionary methods to avoid any mirrors this early in the morning.
The moment I stepped through the door I was met with the best surprise a girl could have. "Waffles!" I said to my suddenly wide awake self. I
could hear my mothers laughter at my reaction from the next room over. "There's nothing funny about hunger, Mummy!" I shouted in response.
"There is when we're talking about your bottomless pit of a stomach," she said as she made her way back into the kitchen to join me for breakfast.
As I piled my plate four syrup soaked waffles high, she only picked one to pair with her sugar free syrup. She always was unnecessarily concerned
about her weight. We shortly sat with only the sound of our forks against our plates, but that was short lived. "So what's the plan for today?" I asked
her. Without waiting for a response I continued my list of questions. "Do you want to go shopping? Are there any good movies out? Oh, didn't you want

Creative Writing Checkout
The screech of the old automatic doors to the Countdown supermarket open before me. As I walk in I'm bombarded with smells of freshly baked
breads, fresh fruit straight from the trees and preserved meat, ready to sell to the customers arriving in an hour. I walk through aisle 1 towards the
employees room and grab my small metallic name tag. My small shaky hands fumble to put the tag on my old faded Countdown shirt. As I turn
around to walk back towards my checkout, I notice other employees shouting and laughing at each other as if they were lions fighting over their
prey. My gleaming gold hair cascades down my shoulders as I release the hair tie and continue towards the shiny metal checkout. As I reach the
checkout I see my reflection in the window. My dark brown eyes remind me of wood. Boring and dead. The opening bell pierces my ear drums
like an arrow pierces the dummy. And I watch as the old dull automatic doors open and close, and the customers walk in. A few minutes later and
old man walked up the my checkout.I pretend to smile and show that I am happy to be here but inside I'm crying. My eyes focus on his skin which
was wrinkled and dry like sandpaper and his hands were shaking like apples on a shaken tree. He starts to put up his small amount of groceries and I

That August, anyone who was trying out for the school soccer team could attend the annual sleepover camp. The camp was four days long; on the
first day it was extremely hot and we had to run two miles, but I was ready because I had prepared well. The coach had given us a packet of
conditioning and ball skills to do over the summer. I completed his packet daily and did extra conditioning and ball skills twice a week. Every day of

The Accessibility And Affordability Of Unhealthy Foods...
"Beep–beep", a young boy pushes buttons on the vending machine at school. Cheaper and easier than packing a snack, his mother gives him a dollar
everyday to buy a treat. "Beep–beep", the boy, now a teenager, plays video games alone in his house. Too embarrassed by his weight to play outside
with friends, he spends his days isolated in the basement, seeking comfort inside candy wrappers. "Beep–beep", the boy who just dropped out of
college, ignores a call from his mother. He has not spoken to anyone in months because of his depression, which only worsened with his growing size.
"Beep–beep", machines surround the hospital bed of the boy, now a man in his 40s, who just suffered from a heart attack, prematurely brought on by
obesity. This young man's life may have turned out drastically different, if unhealthy habits had not developed so easily at a young age. The
accessibility and affordability of unhealthy foods like candy and soda make it very difficult to break bad habits and pursue healthier options. Imposing
a sin tax on unhealthy food choices to combat the growing problem of obesity in the United States would not only help the citizens suffering from
obesity, but everyone else in the country in many different ways. Many argue that the implementation of a sin tax infringes upon their freedom of
choice. They believe the government plans to further limit American's civil liberties and manipulate the everyday lives of the citizens with the tax.

The respiratory system is responsible for getting oxygen into your body and carbon dioxide out via the nasal or oral cavities, which are, then
transport down the trachea into the lungs (bronchi to the bronchioles proceeding through to the alveoli). Our cells need energy and by the respiratory
and circulatory systems working together they provide the cells with oxygen that is fundamental for cellular respiration. For cellular respiration to
ensue firstly the exchange of gases between the blood and tissue cells need to occur and this is known as the internal respiration following this, the
body utilises the oxygen and this is known as cellular respiration. Cellular respiration is essential in aiding and breaking down glucose so that energy
is released for the body to use. Without the respiratory and circulatory systems working together all of the above would not be able to occur if one

How Does the Respiratory System Work?
1.How does the Respitory system work? The main Function of the respitory system is gaseous exchange. This refers to the process of oxygen and
carbon dioxide moving between the lungs and blood. Gaseous exchange in the lungs refers to the movement of oxygen into the body, and the
removal of carbon dioxide from the body. It takes place in the lungs, especially in the alveoli surface through diffusion. During inspiration, the
diaphragm and the surrounding muscles contract. The diaphragm moves down increasing the volume of the chest cavity, and the surrounding
muscles pull the rib up to allow further increase in volume. This increase of volume decreases the air pressure in the alveoli During expiration, the
diaphragm and all of the surrounding muscles relax. This allows the chest cavity to return to its original volume. The act of breathing starts from the
mouth. You breathe in air through your mouth and nose, and it travels through the back of your throat and down your wind pipe or trachea. Your
trachea the divides itself into air passages called bronchial tubes. For your Lungs to perform at their best these passages needed to be clear during
inhaling and exhaling. And free from mucus swelling and inflammation. A persons lung capacity can determine someone's exercise level because if
you have a larger lung capacity it allows your body to take in more oxygen which gives your muscles more energy which means you can do exercise
for a longer amount of time. 2.How does the

Nikki Giovanni Essay
Nikki Giovanni is a Writer/Poet who uses a lot of 1st person Point of view in her writing to explain ideas, and is a very detailed, straightforward writer.
Some poems that I will be taking examples from is 'The Beep Beep Poem', 'Kidnap poem', and 'Nikki–Rosa'. Nikki giovanni also writes both fiction
and nonfiction poems. Some of her non fiction poems were written in the 60's during the Civil Rights Movement. Most of her fictional poems were
from her thoughts about her personal life and real events.
One example of when she uses 1st person view and is a detailed and straightforward writer in her writing is in 'the kidnap poem''. In the poem, on page
310, line 4 and 5 Nikki Giovanni says, "...if i were a poet i'd kidnap you...' From this example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example on page 271 of the poem 'Nikki–Rosa' line 30 to 33, "Black love is Black wealth and they'll probably talk about my hard childhood and
never understand that all the while I was quite happy." This is an example of one of her famous non fiction poems she wrote about her
remembrances being a "Black" child. One fictional poem she wrote was "The Beep Beep poem". On page 308, line 1 to 3 it says, "i should write a
poem but there's nothing that hasn't been said,". This example also supports my first paragraph thesis because this is also a very straightforward part
of her poems. These two examples from her writing support that Nikki Giovanni can and does write both fiction and nonfiction poems. Because she
writes both fiction and nonfiction poems you can say that Nikki Giovanni is a very well rounded poet.
In conclusion Nikki giovanni is a very well rounded poet who writes both fiction and nonfiction poems. She also explains her thought process and is
very detailed. From the examples in this essay, you can also tell that in her famous poems she uses a lot of 1st person point of view to make a
connection with the reader to make the reader feel what she is feeling. Nikki Giovanni also sets up her main ideas with background information in her
poetry that makes her poems more easily comprehended for the

Factors Affecting the Beep Test
In this report, I will be writing about the data that was collected from the beep test, which tests the aerobic endurance of the participants who are
performing the test. With the results collected I will be discussing the different factors that may have impacted on the participant's results. Robinson
(2010) states that there are different systems in the body such as the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, and respiratory. Despite the fact all these systems
are separate, they are all linked together to help the functioning of the body when at rest and during exercise. When the body begins to participate in
exercise, during physical activity changes start to occur in the cardiovascular system starts so that it can adapt to the physical ... Show more content on

The energy that gets released is conserved to make another high–energy chemical called adenosine triphosphate (ATP); without a supply of ATP,
muscles would not be able to generate force and therefore resulting athletes not being able to perform any physical activity. Furthermore, Shepard
(2006 cited in Robinson 2010) has stated that the supply of ATP will only last for a limited amount of seconds, and there is a requirement to recapture
ATP quickly, which is attained by the breakdown of creatine phosphate (CrP). For this physical activity, the main energy system would be the aerobic
system, as it has an unlimited ability to make ATP and is the energy system most relied upon for longer
–duration activities that can be performed for
minutes to hours (Wilmore & Costill, 1994).
Kenney et al, (2012) indicates that with the help of oxygen it helps the body break down subtracts with to generate cellular respiration. Muscles need a
steady supply of energy to continuously produce the force needed during long–term activity. The aerobic system has a larger energy–producing
capacity than any of the other energy systems; therefore aerobic metabolism becomes the dominant method of energy production during endurance
activities. This then will place quite a demand on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems to deliver oxygen to the active muscles.
The benefits of the beep test are that it is easy to manage, also there is

Beep Classical Conditioning Project

  • 1. Beep Classical Conditioning Project AP Psychology Classical Conditioning Project Hypothesis : If I pair a beep with flipping to the next card then the subject will anticipate the swap and focus on the next upright facing card of the deck. What I am trying to teach : When a beep is sounded the next card will be presented Unconditioned Stimulus – Flip of current card Unconditioned Response – Focus on the next upright card of the deck Conditioned Stimulus – A monotone beep (occurred every 10 seconds) Conditioned Response – Focus on the next upright card of the deck Operational Definition of Conditioned Response – Eyes shift to look at deck of cards (All facing with face side up) Summary : For the experiment I followed the following steps. First, I told them they were to memorize the cards I presented to them, but they did not have to know them in order. This command was purely so they would focus on the cards,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, when the first beep went off (as it did in ten–second intervals) I flipped over the current card and slide the other face up card from the deck in its position. The reason the cards in the deck were face up as well was to provide incentive to look at the deck when the beep went off. I repeated this process five times, on the fifth time I did nothing when it beeped and let the cards sit as they were. Then after that on the next beep I followed the process like normal but only gave them half the time to memorize the card and flipped it over before the next beep went off. Overall the experiment did not go as smoothly as hoped, only one of the subjects displayed distress in the form of saying "it beeped" when the card had not been flipped. When I debriefed each of the subjects all of them said they wondered why I hadn't flipped the card when the beep went off and surprised them when I flipped it early, showing ... • 2. Beep Research Paper Beep...Beep...Beep... The sound of the heart monitor filled the room as I slowly woke up from surgery. I was about four years old and had gotten diagnosed with reflux of the kidney's which is when the fluid in your kidneys cycles through them twice and causes them to work overtime and can lead to kidney failure. My older sister had this same problem and it was because of her diagnosis the doctors also had me get tested. My surgery took place at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. During the surgery the doctors corrected a valve in my kidneys so it worked like it was suppose to and stopped fluid from flowing backwards. I was a scared going into it because I had never had a surgery before and didn't know what to expect. I awoke to different gifts, one gift I had wanted the most was a doctor kit. It was my favorite thing. I loved the stethoscope and constantly played with it. In almost every picture of me with the little yellow plastic stethoscope, I have it on my head upside down. It made me look like a Teletubbie. I also got a babydoll that was dressed up like Winnie the Pooh. My family had come to the hospital to visit me and they left notes on the whiteboard even though I couldn't read them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hospital had a playroom set up for the children and I would constantly try to run down there to play. I always attempted to take out the IV they had hooked me up to. After my many attempts to yank out the IV they finally had to keep it in place using lots of tape and a wooden board. In addition to the playroom I loved being pushed in this little car up and down the hall. The hospital I stayed in also had a piano that I constantly got taken down to so I could sit and attempt to play it. Much like my piano skills my love for music hasn't ... • 3. Narrative Essay: The Vietnam War "World War II is finally at it's end! Look forward to a life without worry or stress..." These voices blaring from the radio filled Alana Hiroto's head as she tried to not drift off to sleep and ate her now soggy and tasteless Cheerios. She was not looking forward to catching the smelly old school bus that would be honking at her front door any minute. As Alana listened to the radio, she realized she honestly didn't care much about the nuclear war she knew was going on between her home country, Japan, and some other countries she didn't know the names of. Alana only knew that Mr. Yuin, her Social Studies teacher, would give them two whole points of extra credit if they completed the extra homework assignment on the ongoing war. Alana lived a pretty mellow life with her mom and brother, who was two years older than her and such a moody teenager. They lived in their little hometown of Kaita, Japan, just next door to the massive cities of Hiroshima and Hatsukaichi. Their neighborhood was right in the heart of their city's main town, which... I mean, she couldn't hear or see anything outside now and did not know what was going on with the nuclear attack, and why would the monitor go off for no reason? The warning was issued at least an hour ago at this point; had the bomb went off yet, or was there even a real bomb? Alana decided right at that moment she would figure out the code; she would unlock its messages and see what was happening in the outside world and with her family. Alana raced to the back of the narrow room at the end of the hallway where a bed and a bookcase were placed against the wall. She traced her fingers against the titles on each of the file folders that were organized alphabetically on the metal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Beep Bop Music Analysis In my perceptive racism has been within the music industry for decades. This has caused many rivalries between record labels such as ASCAP and AFM American Federation of Musicians. During the Swing Era authoritative intuitions created laws over the rights of Musicians. This led to the separation of Big Bands declining along with war and deaths of jazz musicians. The music industry has focused mainly on marketing to target the general audience the Caucasian population. Many musicians went in their own direction. For example: Charlie Parker created the sound of Beep bop music. "In a small group format, highly individual expression focused on the player's originality and improvised skill" (Star, Waterman 192). • 5. The Energy Interplay System Within The 20 Metre Beep Test This report will discuss the work of the energy interplay system in relation to a subject's result in the 20 metre beep test . Energy system interplay refers to the work done by the three energy systems (ATP–PC, Anaerobic and Aerobic) to provide the body with the necessary amount of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to complete certain physical activities depending on their intensity and duration. As stated before the three energy systems used by the body are the ATP–PC, anaerobic glycolysis and aerobic system. The ATP–PC and anaerobic glycolysis system (also known as lactic acid system) are anaerobicly based meaning that they don't need a sufficient amount of oxygen to produce ATP. The aerobic system requires oxygen to produce ATP hence its name. All three system have fuels' which produce energy. The ATP –PC uses phoso creatine and creatine phosphate, the lactic acid system uses glycogen and the aerobic system uses glycogen and triglycerides . Glycolysis refers to the breaking down of glycogen to from glucose which is used in ATP. The beep test is the subject received a score 13.5, this meant that the subject covered a distance of 2460 metres and ran for a period of 13 minutes and 2 seconds. Their starting heart rate was 110 and they reached a maximum of 197. Lastly their final rate of perceived exertion (RPE) was 9 meaning they found themselves working 'really, really hard' and at maximum intensity at the completion of the test. • 6. Beep Essay Examples BEEP BEEP BEEP. I swing in the direction of the alarm that reminds me that today I am not allowed to sleep in. I hear a loud thud as the alarm clock goes crashing to the ground. What's today? Tuesday. Great. My least favorite day. I grudgingly yank the covers off and immediately regret it as the coldness of the room hits me like a wave, immediately waking me up. I shiver as I quickly get ready to go to school. Just as I am getting ready to bolt out the door to run off to the ancient seeming bus that picks me up every morning and brings me to the prison that I am forced to go to, I glance at the clock. YES, IT'S FINALLLY HALLOWEEN! Then I bolt out the door so I am not late. "Goodbye students. Safe trick or treating!" Sings the teacher as I dash out the door. I need to quickly get home or I will be late for meeting up with the group. I get on the bus and stare out the window as Swiss Point is slowly drifting away from my thoughts. Nothing seems to be going on as I stare out the window and drift into the land of my thoughts. I have to pick out a cool costume so they think I am cool like them. I can't wear the costume my little sis made for me. That isn't cool, I'd just look stupid. I'll just have to sneak past her and my parents so they don't make me wear it. Time slips away as I ponder more and soon I am at my stop. I snap out of my trance when I hear the bus door click as it opens. I quickly fumble with my stuff as I attempt to make my way out of the bus. 7:00 P.M, finally time to meet up with the group. I glare at my sister's costume she made for me to wear tonight. She's so annoying. I can't wear that. But she made it for me to wear tonight and she will be so upset if I don't wear it. I push that thought out of my mind as I put on my cool costume of a werewolf that I secretly bought without my parents knowing. This is cool enough, right? Yeah. Mabey. I finish getting my costume on and slowly open my door. A loud creak comes from my door. I curse my door for being so loud that and look down the hallway. No one. Perfect. I slowly make my way down the hallway and towards the front door. "BYE! I'M LEAVING TO GO MEET UP WITH SOME FRIENDS!", I yell as I quickly close the door behind me. Friends. That's not ... • 7. The Flash-Beep Experiment Introduction: The flash–beep experiment demonstrates that auditory information can be disruptive to our visual acuity. It is believed that competing cues from an auditory stream has a greater influence than visual cues. In this illusion, the researchers overlay multiple auditory beeps, perceived to be occurring simultaneously when a black dot is rapidly flashed. Human observers are asked to determine the number of dots from the various sensory information presented. Testers were looking "to assess how the presence of different competing stimuli affect visual and auditory temporal perception"(Bizley et al.). They found that subjects overwhelmingly misreported the visual event when presented with conflicting auditory information even though they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brain groups together the correct combination of visual and sound components to create recognizable, external objects. Not unlike the original flash–beep illusion, auditory distractors greatly influence visual streams, regardless of the proximity of the source of the sound. Despite the fact that the researchers set up the stimulus design and gave instruction to the subjects to produce weaker binding of inputs than in a natural setting, they observed a strong influence of auditory information. The study also finds that the interference in the flash–beep illusion is similar to the within–modality interference from a competing same–modality stream. "Results reveal imperfect and obligatory within– and across–modality integration of information," (Bizley et al.) and the researchers believe that the level of these interactions depends on feature binding as an object. The mechanism that the brain uses to integrate signals from audio and visual modalities seems to be similar to Bayesian inference which is a theory that suggests the brain makes educated guesses based on the limited information ... • 8. Cardio Respiratory Endurance Lab Report Cardio–respiratory endurance is the ability of the lungs and heart to use and transport oxygen over an extended period of physical activity. To effectively measure the cardio–respiratory endurance of the individuals in our class, a multi–stage fitness test (commonly know as the beep test) was performed. Cones are placed 20m away from each other on a flat, non–slip surface as participants are required to run from one end at the sound of a recorded 'beep' noise and must reach the other side before the next beep. The starting speed is quite slow but as the test progresses the beeps gradually get faster. Each beep marks a new round/level reached. Participants must keep up with the pace of the beeps for as long as possible. Once they cannot run any longer they drop out of the test and record the level in which they lasted till. The reason this method is a very effective way to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once at the heart, the blood enters through the left atrium and is pushed to the left ventricle before being pushed out of the aorta to circulate throughout the body. After the oxygenated blood has reached the organs and tissues it is moved through the capillaries into veins where it travels back towards the heart where it enters the right atrium then gets pushed through the right ventricle then pulmonary artery where the blood will reach the lungs to be oxygenated once again. This process of blood traveling throughout the body is known as the Circulatory system. The role of the respiratory system in the beep test is too inspire oxygen for the blood to use and expire the carbon dioxide from the blood and the air. The role of the Circulatory system is to distribute the oxygenated blood around the body for the tissues and organs to use so the body can perform, then transport the deoxygenated blood back to the heart to be pumped back to the ... • 9. Energy Drinks And Athletic Performance Introduction Energy drinks, are beverages that contain large doses of sugar (up to a quarter cup per can), caffeine and other ingredients, like the stimulatory herb Guarana and the amino acid Taurine. Dr. Erin Duchan, a pediatrician and co–author of a review of the current science about energy drinks for athletes, published recently in The Physician and Sports Medicine, said "There's good evidence that caffeine is ergogenic (substance used for the purpose of enhancing performance) " and "it can, in the right circumstances, improve athletic performance.' (Duchan, 2014) The aim of this investigation is to see whether Mother energy drinks increase athletic performance. The hypothesis that will be tested is that 'If a person consumes an energy drink they will run further in the beep test.' The independent variable is the Energy drink and the dependent variable is the athletic performance – how long someone can run the beep test until they can no longer run. In this investigation there are various factors that need to be kept constant in order to achieve the best results, these include the environment – the place it is performed e.g. if one is performed on a tennis court the second one will need to be performed on a tennis court, the weather conditions should be similar, the energy drink – type and amount, participants, time of day practical is performed and participants should wear similar clothing in each test – same shoes (running shoes) and type of clothing, Ethics ... Kissy went through her normal morning routine, then caught a ride from her best friend Ibbie, and they both continued on to the school day. Kissy was a normal 14 year old girl. She's got light brown hair, hazel eyes, and was pretty tall for her age. "Kissy has been acting strange lately, not talking very much." It seems she wants to be outcast from us all. She hasn't even been talking to me lately, which is weird, because we're like besties." says Ibbie. Anyways, Kissy and Leah talked about the location of the house, only six miles out from Kissy's hometown. This made it easy for her friends or family to visit her. The house was also a school, which made it easier to learn so the kids didn't have to go to a separate school that didn't necessarily know how to deal with their condition. Kissy was to start class on Monday. The school offered a variety of classes, but required the core classes. Kissy decided to take two different technology classes and a phy ed class. She only chose these classes because they were the ones Jacob was in, even though she hates computers and technology. She would much rather write and read for all of her classes. It is all for Jacob. • 11. Amanda Beep Narrative "Beep, Beep, Beep" goes Amanda Newell's alarm clock. Groggily, she looked at her clock and jumped right out of bed. It was 8:30, the bus comes at 8:40, she would never board the bus on time! Amanda put on her school uniform, ate breakfast, and brushed her teeth as fast as she could but she was too late. When she was running down her driveway, she saw the bus driving away. With no choice left, she was running down the sidewalk going as fast as her legs would take her. Consequently, she was not looking down and tripped over a branch. She crashed onto the ground and saw a massive bloody bruise forming on her knee. She said, "Darn it, my Mom is going to kill me!" It took over an hour until the footprints stopped right at a doorstep to an immense 3 story house. In their heads all of them knew that the house they were looking at was Amanda's prison. Through a loudspeaker a police officer said, "David Plume please get out of the house and no one will get hurt." The detectives alerted the police of their findings and the police rushed over to the house. The police barricaded the entrances with the cars so the criminal could not get away. The police officer shouted again, "If you do not come down here we will use force!" There was no response but that was all the police needed to crash open the door and start exploring. The police and the detectives looked everywhere. Rooms, under tables, the garage, the backyard pretty much anywhere you could think of they looked. They were about to leave when they heard a gut wrenching scream. They looked to find where the horrifying scream was and found themselves looking at a floorboard. They pried it open and saw an alarming sight. Amanda in chains with David Plume having a knife at her neck. David said, "Any of you move and the girl is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Smooth voices confidently tell me about the Saudi Arabian issuing of driver's licenses to women, the Chinese government's plan to strengthen the yuan, and Congress's plan to repeal Obamacare. • 14. The Recovery Room And Hear The Steady Beep Of The Vitals... I step into the recovery room and hear the steady beep of the vitals machine. My bone marrow donor is wide awake and sitting up in bed; he is in recovery following his marrow stem cell donation. I immediately notice his beaming smile, a sharp contrast to the drab hospital room and a remarkable reaction considering all he has been through that morning. I sit down and speak to him to assess his health and ensure he is recovering as expected. His first question for me is not about his own health, but the health of another patient to whom he has been willing to donate, a person he doesn't know, has never met, and may never even have the opportunity to communicate with depending on where they are being treated. I assure him that his donated cells have been processed and transported successfully, but we will not know anything specific about the recovery of his recipient for about another 30 days. He relaxes his body back slightly on the hospital bed and continues to smile. I haven't told him anything he doesn't already know, yet a sense of fulfillment seems to wash over and emanate from him. His contentment is infectious. When I began my work as a donor coordinator for unrelated stem cell transplants at Georgetown University Hospital in August 2014, I did not expect to become so deeply affected by various aspects of my job. Certainly, I've been moved by my donors' selflessness, their generosity, and their altruism. But what has impressed me the most is their sheer enthusiasm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Beep Poem By looking at just the title of "The Beep Beep Poem," the first thing that comes to mind is a car horn. The poem only mentions cars, or driving, once and that's at the end of the poem. Some may infer that the poem may be about cars or the sound the horn makes. The poem mentions several different things. In the first stanza it talks about how there isn't anything left to write about, how everything that can be said has already been written. "... but there's almost nothing that hasn't been said." The poem also makes a reference to the Kent state massacre, "... and they don't understand at Kent state the troopers will shoot... again." When he grudgingly gives in to the endless noise of the alarm he slams his bare knuckle hands onto the alarm to shut it up. He checks his phone only to see that his "Troops are ready for Battle" is the only notification he has. He slowly pulls on his forest green long sleeve shirt and his bright purple pants. Then Brennan dragged his feet along the cold uneven wood floor to his father's room. Only to see an empty room just like every other day. In fact it was rare to see his father home. Brennan sat at their small kitchen table chowing down some Lucky Charms before school. In his hand he kept turning over the small message his Mom used to write to him in his lunch. He missed those times when his Mom would wait at the door when he came home from school. When she would wake up early and eat breakfast with him right before school. Now, it is only Brennan and his thoughts. Brennan took a huge breath, stood up and tossed his paper bowl into the trash. • 18. Beep Test Score Essay Discussion The purpose of this lab was to determine if the subject's beep test score will be altered after changing their diet. The subject is put on an increased protein diet for three weeks, while playing competitive hockey (see table 1). It was hypothesized that an increase in protein intake will have no effect on performance during the beep test and therefore the subject will have no change in their final beep test score. Three weeks after the increased protein diet the subject performed another beep test to see any changes in the beep test score. The results indicated minimal change in the beep test score from an initial score of 7 to a final score of 6.5 (see tables 2 &3). This showed that increasing protein did not affect the subject's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In relation to perceived exertion the subjects breathing rate stayed constant (see figure 2) because protein intake did not affect the subject's performance and output. In other words, the hypothesis was proven to be true because protein intake did not affect the subject's ability to perform in the final beep test, which is why the score obtained only had minimal changes from the beep test before the protein intake. Even though increased protein did not affect the subject's performance, it was still used during recovery, which is why the subject could recover from dry land training the night before and still fill good to perform the beep test the next day. According to Cordain and Friel (2012) protein intake throughout the day, helps repair damaged muscle tissue. Therefore, over the three weeks the subject's body was utilizing the protein intake as source to repair any tears in the muscle tissue, which lead to a better recovery. Given the following information the hypothesis was proved to be accurate because protein intake did not affect the subject's performance during the beep test. • 32. How Does the Respiratory System Work? 1.How does the Respitory system work? The main Function of the respitory system is gaseous exchange. This refers to the process of oxygen and carbon dioxide moving between the lungs and blood. Gaseous exchange in the lungs refers to the movement of oxygen into the body, and the removal of carbon dioxide from the body. It takes place in the lungs, especially in the alveoli surface through diffusion. During inspiration, the diaphragm and the surrounding muscles contract. The diaphragm moves down increasing the volume of the chest cavity, and the surrounding muscles pull the rib up to allow further increase in volume. This increase of volume decreases the air pressure in the alveoli During expiration, the diaphragm and all of the surrounding muscles relax. This allows the chest cavity to return to its original volume. The act of breathing starts from the mouth. You breathe in air through your mouth and nose, and it travels through the back of your throat and down your wind pipe or trachea. Your trachea the divides itself into air passages called bronchial tubes. For your Lungs to perform at their best these passages needed to be clear during inhaling and exhaling. And free from mucus swelling and inflammation. A persons lung capacity can determine someone's exercise level because if you have a larger lung capacity it allows your body to take in more oxygen which gives your muscles more energy which means you can do exercise for a longer amount of time. 2.How does the ... That person had to make Kevin do a different version, what it had turned out being is," Meow meow, I'm a cow, I said meow meow, I'm a cow" which Kevin had said. That person's hideout had been discovered, fortunately Kevin had been around, and the meow meow like a cow, had converted the beep beeping people, back to their original selves. Slowly but efficiently they had lured more and more, back to their original selves. Some poems that I will be taking examples from is 'The Beep Beep Poem', 'Kidnap poem', and 'Nikki–Rosa'. Nikki giovanni also writes both fiction and nonfiction poems. Some of her non fiction poems were written in the 60's during the Civil Rights Movement. Most of her fictional poems were from her thoughts about her personal life and real events. One example of when she uses 1st person view and is a detailed and straightforward writer in her writing is in 'the kidnap poem''. In the poem, on page 310, line 4 and 5 Nikki Giovanni says, "...if i were a poet i'd kidnap you...' From this example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example on page 271 of the poem 'Nikki–Rosa' line 30 to 33, "Black love is Black wealth and they'll probably talk about my hard childhood and never understand that all the while I was quite happy." This is an example of one of her famous non fiction poems she wrote about her remembrances being a "Black" child. One fictional poem she wrote was "The Beep Beep poem". On page 308, line 1 to 3 it says, "i should write a poem but there's nothing that hasn't been said,". This example also supports my first paragraph thesis because this is also a very straightforward part of her poems. These two examples from her writing support that Nikki Giovanni can and does write both fiction and nonfiction poems. • 37. Factors Affecting the Beep Test In this report, I will be writing about the data that was collected from the beep test, which tests the aerobic endurance of the participants who are performing the test. With the results collected I will be discussing the different factors that may have impacted on the participant's results. Robinson (2010) states that there are different systems in the body such as the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, and respiratory. Despite the fact all these systems are separate, they are all linked together to help the functioning of the body when at rest and during exercise. When the body begins to participate in exercise, during physical activity changes start to occur in the cardiovascular system starts so that it can adapt to the physical ... The energy that gets released is conserved to make another high–energy chemical called adenosine triphosphate (ATP); without a supply of ATP, muscles would not be able to generate force and therefore resulting athletes not being able to perform any physical activity. Furthermore, Shepard (2006 cited in Robinson 2010) has stated that the supply of ATP will only last for a limited amount of seconds, and there is a requirement to recapture ATP quickly, which is attained by the breakdown of creatine phosphate (CrP). For this physical activity, the main energy system would be the aerobic system, as it has an unlimited ability to make ATP and is the energy system most relied upon for longer –duration activities that can be performed for minutes to hours (Wilmore & Costill, 1994). Kenney et al, (2012) indicates that with the help of oxygen it helps the body break down subtracts with to generate cellular respiration. Muscles need a steady supply of energy to continuously produce the force needed during long–term activity. The aerobic system has a larger energy–producing capacity than any of the other energy systems; therefore aerobic metabolism becomes the dominant method of energy production during endurance activities. This then will place quite a demand on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems to deliver oxygen to the active muscles. The benefits of the beep test are that it is easy to manage, also there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
