Minutes of the meeting in Slovakia
1. MINUTES OF THE MEETING IN SLOVAKIA
The teachers of the Comenius project «E.U. and I» were present in the meeting in
Základná skola Vel’komoravská 12, Trencin Slovakia, from the 17 th until the 21st
February 2010.
The agenda for the meeting was:
.Evaluation of the work done until the moment.
Choosing the cover for the multimedia dictionary.
Planning further work: the quiz for the meeting in Madrid.
Organisation of the multimedia dictionary
Before the first point of the meeting, the School Director welcomed the teachers to the
school, explained the program of the visit and gave a brief summary of the school story.
As far as the first point is concerned, the teachers made an evaluation of the work done
until now, which was very successful. The students made Christmas cards and send
them to all the countries, there was a Christmas exhibition in each school, the blog for
each country is created and linked to the main blog of the project. In all the schools, the
students are working about the topics agreed in the last meeting in Portugal. They have
also made the project of the cover for the multimedia dictionary. The teachers also
referred the problems which the students are facing in working the topics. These
problems are related to their fluency in English and to some technological difficulties.
The teachers agreed that the students should use images and photos with short
explanations and will need a lot of help and supervision in the translation of the texts.
The second point of the agenda was postponed for the next day and will take place
during the Easter workshop. The drawings will be stuck on the wall and numbered and
the students will vote for the best one. The teachers also agreed that the other drawings
will be in the inside of the cover.
Regarding the third point of the agenda, it was decided that each country builds nine
questions to be answered by the students in the final meeting in Madrid from 12th to
16th May. All the information must be pasted in the blog until the 15th April 2010. The
answers will be multiple-choice - three answers labeled a) b) c). The cards will be A6

2. size and made by each partner. The answers must be at the back of the card. The
teachers have also decided that each country will have a different colour for the cards:
Holland – orange; Italy – light blue; Romania - dark blue; Spain- purple; Portugal –
green; Slovakia – yellow; Slovenia – brown; Finland – black; Turkey – red.
The quiz will be played in three groups with three teams (six students in each group).
The final will be played by the winners of each group. There will be five extra questions
and the winner is the group who answers first. Spain will buy the cup for the winners
and Portugal will make the diplomas for all the participants.
Concerning the fourth point of the agenda, the teachers took decisions about the
multimedia software they are going to use: The dictionary will be in PowerPoint, the
photos must be in Jpeg format, the texts will be written using Times New Roman 12
characters, the music must be recorded in MP3, the voices should be recorded using a
program like Audacity or Goldwave and the videos will be in recorded in MP4 format.
As for the first year of the project, all the partners will make a Cd with the material
(photos, sounds/ videos) and will take it to the meeting in May. Portugal will gather all
the information for the multimedia dictionary. The texts will be the ones which are in
the blog. The DVD will have an initial menu with all the countries identified to be of
quick use.
The teachers also decided the dates for the meeting in Finland which will be from the
12th to the 16th January 2011. The final meeting of the project will be in Italy in the
second half of May.
Regarding students communication, it was agreed to write group e-mails to all the
countries at least once a month. The subject of those e-mails will be the school life and
activities. The e-mails should have at least two questions. The e-mails will be sent
through the blog e-mail addresses. It is also necessary to visit the blog and comment on
it at least once every three months.
The winner of the multimedia dictionary cover competition was poster number ten from
Slovenia with thirteen votes.
After these decisions, the teachers concluded the meeting, and signed this document
with the decisions made.
