The communication process: English as a foreign language; lexicography and the
importance of dictionaries in teaching and in keeping native and target languages distinct;
non-verbal communication. The problems of translating idiomatically from one language to
another. Language change to keep pace with the modern world.
Cross-cultural comparison in relation to social change:the point of contact between
individual and system under conditions of change; language use as such a point of contact.
Specifically, the need for new words/terms in Icelandic to cope with the modern world.
