I don’t really use Facebook for updating anything, as
I mainly just use it for messenger.
I use the Facebook Messenger app as its free and
simple to use on my phone.
This shows Goffman’s idea of impression
management, as I put very little on my Social media
accounts so that a small part of my identity is
shown.
The most recent thing I have put on to Facebook is that I
changed my profile picture a while ago.
I don’t really feel the need to post other things on to my
account.
I feel like this is more like Goffman’s idea of impression
management, as I control what I put on my Social media
accounts so only a particular identity is shown.
Front stage behaviour is also shown in my profile picture as
it is a selfie which is the most common image to have as
your profile picture on Facebook.
Most of the time I do go on Facebook I check
particular pages for updates, job/recruiting
opportunities. Also just general interest in this area.
This is Goffman’s theory of front stage behaviour as I
act more serious/focused when I’m on any social
media, I do this as I’m trying to show this through
what I do or don’t post.
I don’t post much on to my Facebook account and I
recently removed a lot of content I used to have on it,
because for my (intended) future career I want to be
taken seriously.
Also I have a lot more privacy than most people and I
limit what I’m tagged in, what’s posted on my wall, and
who can see what I do post.
This is also Goffman’s theory of front stage behaviour, as
I limit what I can be tagged in so I can be taken more
seriously.
