How Golf Is Not A Team Game
Golf enthusiasts come from all different walks of life. The origins of organized golf date back to The
Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom (Redmond 410). Golf spread
from the U.K. to the U.S. and created one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sports. This
rivalry drew international attention, and pretty soon, the rest of the world was joining in to play one
of the most captivating sports in the world. A large aspect of golf that draws people to it is that golf
is not a team game. It is just the golfer against the world, and that is a big appeal to people. Also,
golfers have the choice of putting their personal touch on almost every phase. From the clothes they
wear, to the clubs and bags that they use, and even the golf balls they hit, people love adding their
own personal touch whenever possible. Naturally, that is going to entice an interesting crowd of
characters to the same game.
Out on the golf course, the driver is a golfer's club of choice. It is the club used most often at the tee
during the start of a hole, making it arguably the most important club in a golfer's arsenal. Take the
one of the top ranked drivers on the market today, the Callaway X2 Hot driver, for example. There is
an incredible amount of work that gets put into creating one of these drivers. The standard shaft of
the club is known as the Callaway Aldila Tour Blue shaft. It is a carefully crafted, sleek, blue shaft
made of graphite that provides a faster swing

I Have An Avid Golfer
I have been an avid golfer, ever since I was five years old. I aspired to be like the profession ladies I
would watch golf on TV. Before my eight grade year, I thought it would be a good idea to attend an
LPGA event. At this age, it would be perfect, because I am young enough that I can get into these
tournament for free with an adult, and I am old enough that I would know what to watch for when I
am there. The only problem was, I had to pick a tournament that I could possibly be able to play in
one day. For most tournaments, there are certain requirements you have to meet to play in. Also, all
of the LPGA events were not close to Nebraska, they are all either on the coasts of the U.S. or in
another country.
The only tournament ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For professionals, that already have their tour card, they can enter into this tournament, along with
either being on the top 20 in tournament winnings, top 50 on the money list/Rolex Rankings, or
again have a sponsorship. So, in my dreams I could possibly qualify and participate in this
tournament one day.
There are around 160 players that qualify for this tournament and play on Thursday and Friday, but
to play for the weekend, they have to make the cut. To make the cut, the players have to shoot four
over par, which makes for high competition to make the cut. This would leave around 70 ladies that
would make the cut that get to play the rest of the weekend.
A few days before my dad and I leave for the tournament, I mentally prepare myself to know what I
'm going to look for while I 'm there, so I can hopefully apply what I see to improve my game. This
would be a great learning experience for me. To watch the professionals and evaluate their swings,
alignment, etc. to apply to my golf game. So, when I start getting serious about golfing and enter
high school or enter into summer tournaments, I can be ahead of the game. Also, to know what kind
of competition I will have to deal with if I ever enter into this tournament.
So, my dad and I get to our hotel Wednesday night. We settle in before the next day to go to the
tournament. Thursday morning, we wake up bright

How Traditional Can We Keep The Game Of Golf
To me, a very important question is, "How traditional can we keep the game of golf?" The game is
evolving at every aspect. They are evolving the golf ball and making it better by making it fly longer
in the air and landing softer on the greens. Along with the ball, the clubs are being made better and
better making the ball go farther sometimes by even 50 yards. Each year, the irons are being made
with better grooves which make the ball come off the club better and farther. While golf equipment
is changing, the rules of golf are not. The rules of golf have been here since it's existence. Another
question that concerns me is, "Why can the equipment change in golf, but not the rules?"
The United States is home to many different kinds of sports. The most complex sports with the most
rules seem to be sports like football, hockey, basketball and soccer. Golf is a sport where most
people think of as one of the simplest sports, the objective is get a small white ball in a hole. There's
no question about it, football and basketball both have a lot of rules that an average person wouldn't
know or understand. But, any person knows the goal of golf is to put the ball in the hole. There's not
teamwork or having to get through people, it is just a club, a ball, and you. The holes might differ
and the number of hazards are different but it is the most straight forward sport there is. But, along
with being very straight to the point, there are a lot of rules and different etiquettes that

Personal Narrative-A Golfer's Play Disc Golf
A Golfer plays Disc Golf
It was an unseasonably cool day. It wasn't the typical hot, sticky August. It was so cool outside my
friend had to wear a sweatshirt. The sun was getting lower in the sky caramelizing the sky into a
fluorescent pink color. This was our last full day of summer and we wanted to spend it doing
something new and exciting. We wanted to play disc golf and I observed my friends and I playing it.
The course sits due east of the Fairfax water treatment facility. It is seated perfectly where players
can whiff the unmistakable smells that the facility brings. Just east of the course is a quaint little
park with an area with slides and monkey bars for the kids, and a covered patio for the adults to
watch the children run and play. There are lots of trees guarding the fairways of the course waiting

As Mitch threw his shot, I made sure to take mental notes of how he threw his disc. This was my
first time playing this game and it isn't the same as throwing a regular frisbee. I attempted the load
up that he got, began my launch and fired the disc at the target. My disc went sky rocketing up in the
air. It sat in air for what seemed like an eternity and came back down no where near the hole. My
friends all laughed at me and mocked me adolescence in the game.
My other three friends with me proceeded to put their discs just as close as Mitch and I pondered
how they could do it so easily. They all seemed to have the same concept of throwing the disc. They
kept their elbow and shoulder parallel with the ground and the disc would fly towards the target
every time.
As we completed our first six holes, they were toying with me like a Senior to a Freshman. They
knew I was weak in this game so they offered to play a full 18 hole tournament. Being the
competitive guy I am, I agreed and played in the tournament. I was never in contention the whole
way, it was a battle between Mitch, his Brother Mac, and the Clark duo of Griff and

Benefits to Lifetime Sports
Benefits of Lifetime Sports Have you ever thought about getting out and exercising but not actually
been motivated enough to actually do that same thing? There are much greater benefits to
participating in activities and exercise than in sitting on your bum. Everyone knows that the more
exercise and activities a person does the healthier they will be. In order for this to be true though a
person must continue this throughout his/her life and be committed to doing it more than just once
in a blue moon. One easy way to get this exercise is to play a lifetime sport. Lifetime sports include
sports that can continue with you for a lifetime, which you can participate in at any age, and don't
have an age season. In this essay I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are ten frames which give you 21 attempts to knock pins down. When the ball misses the lane
it is called a gutter ball, hitting all ten pins down in one shot is a strike, and hitting all pins in one
frame is called a strike. On the last frame if someone gets a strike or spare they will get an additional
attempt. Bowling is counted among the oldest sports known to mankind. Artifacts have been found
that suggest that bowling can be dated back to as early as 3200 B.C. As with all sports it is important
to maintain a healthy diet when being active and to ensure that
Another fun lifetime sport to play at any age is tennis. Tennis tends to be a highly active sport and
will require a bit more energy than walking and playing golf. Tennis is played on a court that is
fenced off to prevent balls from flying away. The court has a square that the players and ball must
stay inside and the square is separated by a net that the ball must go over. It is a game that can be
played by two or four people at one given time. The first score is worth 15 points, the second is
worth 15 and the last is worth 10. Once a player reaches 40 points and then wins one last round
he/she wins the match. The required equipment is a tennis racquet and tennis balls. Females
generally wear skirts and a loosely fitting shirt for better arm range of motion, while males wear
shorts or jeans and a loosely fitting t–shirt. Since tennis is a rather face–paced and rigorous sport

My Experience In My Life
It was the beginning of summer after my seventh grade year. The sun was blazing, the birds were
chirping, and I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom. Life seemed great, until the next day when I
was bored out of my mind and had nothing to do. During middle school, I followed my brother,
Isaac, around like a mime. Whatever he did I would aspire to do the same. This was no different
when, bored out of my mind, I found out my brother was going to go disc golfing with the neighbor
friends. When Isaac asked me if I wanted to come with, I jumped up, ran to my bike, and told him I
was ready whenever he was. I had never heard of what "disc golf" was, but I knew that since my
brother was doing it, it was cool! So I followed Isaac and the neighbor friends all the way to
Northside Park, sweating immensely from the summer heat and from how quickly I was biking. On
the first hole, Isaac gave me my own disc to borrow for the round. This sport was completely
foreign to me, so I threw my disc as hard as I possibly could, in an attempt to impress Isaac and his
friends. Not only did the disc go absolutely nowhere, but I threw it so high that the wind actually
pushed it backwards. I felt humiliated as everybody laughed at me. Isaac, however, came up to me
and explained to me how discs fly and the proper way to throw. Each hole, I could visibly see my
disc traveling further than the previous hole. Every time Isaac saw me doing something improperly,
he would correct me and tell me how to fix

Martin would have an advantage on the other professionals during tournament play. The fatigue is
the largest affect that could prevent a player from making a good shot or a bad one. By allowing
Martin to drive it would alter the highest level of competition in the biggest golf tournaments. The
PGA argues that Title III is about discrimination against "patrons and customers" seeking to obtain
"goods and services" at public areas. Additionally, Title I protects people that work in places and
during the tournaments and this falls more in a place of exhibition or entertainment. Mr. Martin as a
golfer is like an actor providing entertainment. The issue is that he is not able to claim Title III, since
not a customer, but Casey Martin felt that he is an employee and entitled to title I under a
discrimination venue, but since he is classified as an independent contractor, Title I was does not

anyone who has ever stepped on the green grass of a golf course dreams about. However, it is likely,
in some way or another that, that dream will never come true. Only about one percent of all people

The Tradition Of Golf And Golf Essay
Tradition of Golf
For years, golf has been one of the oldest and most traditional sports. As the equipment and golf
courses have changed, the etiquette and rules have not. In golf, etiquette has been a major part of the
game. Staying quiet on the course and repairing divots are a few examples of proper formality.
Common rules include teeing the ball between the tee markers and marking your ball on the green.
Along with these guidelines, there are rules that are controversial and seem unfair to golfers.
Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the
fewest hits won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options has
increased as well. They have gone from wood drivers to drivers made of complex blends of
elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all been
improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game more fair.
As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and
frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the
game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the
rules in the game of golf. By inquiring about the tradition of golf, I discovered that the game isn't
going to have new rules ever. Sometimes we get bad breaks when we hit a good shot, but we can

Ultimate Frisbee Phenomenon In The Sporting World
Ultimate Frisbee is a phenomenon in the sporting world
Ultimate Frisbee is the fastest growing sport in the United States with a 20.8% increase in
participation from 2008 to 2009. Given the rapid growth in recent years, Ultimate is in a essential
evolutionary stage as rules, policy, and procedure are quickly being developed and hardened into the
broad character of the sport. Little academic research has informed the current organization of the
sport, which has come into existence through player–based democratic processes. Ultimate is a
phenomenon in the sporting world. As a democratized sport, the success or failure of Ultimate in the
future relies on the players themselves. Self–officiating in the sport has been a point of contention
since its inception in 1968, and continues to be a charged debate today. In contrast to traditional
third–party officiating systems (working in soccer, American football, basketball, hockey, etc.), self–
officiating places the burden of in–play management on the active participants themselves, not an
external authority. Ultimate, like other "alternative‟ sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding,

Reflection Of Disc Golf
As the Disc Flies
Fog fills the air; it's early morning and I still cannot believe I woke up this early. I align myself on
the concrete tee. I take three steps forward and launch the small rubber disc. It was a bad throw. My
friends burst into laughter as I watch as the disc veer off course and come to a crashing halt in a
thicket of trees just ten feet from the tee. That foggy morning was back in July and was the first time
I had ever played a game of disc golf. Since that first game I have practiced constantly, revising my
throwing form and greatly improving my disc golf abilities. Similar to my improvement in disc golf
over the past nine or so months, my English 1102 class has also helped me greatly improve my
writing abilities. I have included many examples in this portfolio to show how my improvements
with eliminating comma splices, adding transition sentences, as well as general editing
improvements.
When I first began to play disc golf I did not pay much attention to the placement of my fingers on
the disc. At the time finger placement did not seem like a major issue. However, as I began to learn
more about disc golf I realized that even tiny adjustments of my grip on the disc could greatly
improve my overall throw. While writing I did not pay much attention to my sentence structures. I
began to pay more attention once I received my first paper back and noticed what seemed to be one–
hundred "cs" marks all over the paper. This "cs" mark stands for "comma splice" and I

We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on
whether they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person.
Suggesting that Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession in
virtue of their personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From the
standpoint of employment qualifications, one's sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant
consideration. This brings us to the second consideration concerning punishment in one's
professional life based on actions in one's personal life. We tend to think that there is an important
separation between one's public life and one's private affairs. When one is a celebrity like Tiger
Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one might claim that the loss of this distinction is the
price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an arbitrary constraint on a person's individual
freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public and a private sphere, the fact that a
person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right.
THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS The second ethical question raised by the
Tiger Woods affair scandal concerns whether it is ethical to break a professional contract based on a
person's actions in their personal life. This is a complicated question, and I will limit the discussion
to one pertinent facet of it. If Tiger

Case Study : A Golf With An Degenerative Disease

Summary of the Case
Casey Martin, a professional golfer with an degenerative disease, Klippel–Trenauanay–Weber
Syndrome, sued the PGA Tour over the right to use a golf cart in competitions to accommodate his
impairment and allow him to compete. The Court of Appeals determined that permitting Martin to
use a golf cart in PGA competition would not fundamentally alter the nature of his game during
those tournaments, beyond the existing fatigue caused by his degenerative disease. (Rose)

While I was too young to recount this lawsuit, I have thoroughly enjoyed researching it and learning
more about what it involved. It has certainly been eye–opening to me and got me thinking more
about the way we still are affected by discrimination in todays day and age.
PGA Tour, Inc. v. Martin came to light when a professional golfer, Casey Martin, with a
degenerative disease wanted to use a golf cart during a PGA Tour competition. Without any question
of a doubt, the PGA Tour denied Martin's request. In short, The Supreme Court ruled that under the
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Martin could use a golf cart during competition as
it would not affect him more that the degenerative disease already has. This would not provide an
unfair advantage to Martin.
As detailed in the summary, Casey Martin suffers from Klippel–Trenaunay–Weber Syndrome, a rare
congenital (present at birth) disorder, it is the most common condition involving combined vascular
malformations. (Cincinnati Childrens, http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/health/k/kts/)
Due to this disease, it makes it difficult to walk without pain, fatigue and anxiety. In addition to that,
walking can also cause a greater risk of blood clots, hemorrhaging or worst case scenario fracturing
a bone. I feel very confident that this case represented a clear disability as defined in ADA. and was
the reason his disease wasn 't

How Golf Is A Sport
Kendall Blaich
Miss Royse
English 4
8 April 2015
Golf is a Sport For the first time since 1904, golf will be returning to the 2016 Olympics in Rio
(Shipnuck). Golf is a very complicated sport. It is a mental game along with a physical one. The
many aspects of golf are very similar to other sports. Golf is a sport because it has similar
components to other sports such as strategizing how you play, the equipment used, and the physical
strength and endurance required. The first component is strategizing how you play. Knowing the
correct club to use in each situation on the golf course is a big factor of strategizing. Before you pick
your club you must visualize the ball and see it in its flight path, know the winds speed and
direction, the relation of the ball to the target, and lastly if your lie is good or bad (Herrfeldt). The
second factor of strategizing is being completely aware of your surroundings. The yardages for each
hole are marked on the scorecard or various object throughout the hole (Kelley). Knowing the
distance to the hole will allow you to pick the right club to hit the perfect shot. Some factors to
consider are wind and your lie. If you are hitting into a strong wind you will need to take a longer
distance club, but if you are hitting in the same direction as the wind a shorter club is ideal
(Herrfeldt). Another factor in strategizing how you play is to know which swing to take. Short, or
softer, swings will not allow the ball to travel as far as hard,

This summer I competed at the 2016 PDGAAmateur and Junior Disc Golf World Championships.
From planning, to competing the whole experience is one that I will remember fondly for the rest of

It all started back in 2014 when me and my friend Jasiah made a goal to compete at am worlds. First
I needed to get invited though, which meant competing and doing well in several tournaments
during the 2015 year. That alone took countless hours of practice, and commitment. It all paid off

Essay On Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee is one of the fastest growing team sports around the world. As of today, it is played
in more than 40 countries by different ages of men and women including children. According to
Barta (2013), statistics from USA Ultimate show that college ultimate memberships have increased
from 9,951 in 2004 to 16,058 in 2011. Even though the increase in memberships shown is only until
2011, the growth is very much obvious and it is only the college division. Players from different
sports such as Soccer and Football adapting to Ultimate Frisbee is also a huge contribution to its
growth. These players are somehow familiar to the game's mechanics while some find it very fun
and easy to learn. Although it is one of the fastest growing sport, ... Show more content on

It is probably because people tend to focus more on the popular sports and ignore those that they
don't know. The sport has a unique Spirit of the Game that will trigger other people's curiosity about
it and could lead to them playing the Frisbee. Ultimate Frisbee can be easily learned or taught to
others simply because they can relate some of its rules to other sports and they can easily learn the
fundamentals through different ways. This is why it is assumed that Ultimate Frisbee is one of the

An Introduction to the Game of Golf
Michael May
Golf: An Introduction to the Game with an Emphasis on the Last Twenty–Five Years
Abstract
The game of golf has changed ever since its creation in the 1400 's. Yet of all the changes in the
game most of them have come within the last 25 years. Golf has developed and changed so much in
the last 25 years that players and spectators alike can barely keep up with this new style of play.
Research demonstrates some of the basic elements of the game, as well as most of the
developmental changes the game has gone through in the last 25 years. Jeff Mashos, a former P.G.A.
professional, gives his insight on the game and the changes he has seen in recent years. For golfers
and golf spectators this is a brief glimpse at how golf has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First the golfer might produce a swing that is considered an "open to open" swing path. This occurs
when the club face starts out to the right of the target line and never leaves that position. The other
swing the player could produce is a "square to open" swing path. This is when the club face lines up
with the target line at the beginning of the swing and then finishes open of the target.
On the other hand Aultman describes that when a player hits the ball to the left, his swing path could
either be a "closed to closed" path. Which occurs when the club face has a left facing angle of the
target line and never leaves that point. The other swing a player could produce is "square to closed"
path. Just like the square to open path the club face starts on the correct plane, but it closes on
impact with the golf ball (Aultman 27). Both of these problems can be fixed by finding the right
kind of swing, as Rick Smith puts it in his book How to Find Your Perfect Golf Swing.
Smith, a tour professional, gives seven aspects that make up the golf swing. First, he describes the
"Human Instinct," what naturally comes to the players ' minds when they step up to hit the ball.
Second, "The Physical Condition," or a golfers ' ability to swing the club along the correct plane,
from the beginning to the completion of their round. Third, he presents the concept of
"Misperception." "Many people will tell their friends

Optimizing System Process Times: Improving Golf Course Throughput and Pace of Play Through
Course Layout / Design

Abstract
Pace of Play, or the speed at which golfers complete a round of golf, has become an important factor
for both golf course managers and the players themselves. The purpose of project was to examine
whether or not course design and difficulty play a part in pace of play. Because a golf course is
similar to a manufacturing process (i.e. a terminal system) it be analyzed using simulation modeling.

Each group proceeds around the course as long as there is capacity at the next hole. For example, on
hole #3 there is a capacity of 2 and on the next hole, #4, there is a capacity of one. Therefore the
group that is first in the queue on hole #3 cannot advance onto hole #4 if there is a group already
there.
As indicated in Figure 1, the main bottlenecks in the system exist at the par 3 holes and at the
clubhouse transition between holes #9 and #10.. Also taken into account in the model is the
handicap of the hole (which is a metric for relative difficulty of the hole).
5. SIMULATION DESIGN There are three sources of data used to populate the model. They are:
Past data from other golf simulation models Data from the USGA for average times it takes for
various golf metrics Actual golf course operating metrics from Shennecossett G.C., Groton, CT.
Arrivals are handled with a normal distribution with a very small standard deviation. This is because
each group makes a reservation for a tee time and generally arrive early enough such that the
variance from the reserved tee time is not very high The handicap for the hole will be assigned as
macros and variation will be handled by a normal distribution.

Fountain Duo The average Human body needs to consume at least 5 to 9 servings of fruits to fulfill
that nutritional benchmark for a healthy living and not everyone can meet the mark or digest fruits

the benefit of enzymes and vitamins. It aids in reducing cravings for food as it fills the body with
calories and saves the time and effort needed to chow down that huge serving of fruits.
Not every Juicer in the market can guarantee that maximum satisfaction. We all have specific
preferences when it comes to choosing a Juicer. Above all, these criteria and considerations have

What if you were told one of the funnest things you could do is go outside and toss around a 175

This step requires learning the rules. The rules of Ultimate Frisbee can be best described as a mix of
soccer and football. An Ultimate frisbee field is 100 yards long by 40 yards wide, with fifteen yards
of either end of the length of the field being designated as the endzones. To start, each team sends
seven players to the front of each endzone and one team will throw the frisbee off to the other team
in what is called a "pull". This can be compared to a kickoff in football. Just like football, the goal of
the game is ultimately to pass the frisbee to someone in the endzone to score a point. However
unlike football and more like soccer, the game is played continuously without stoppage until
someone scores. What is unique to frisbee is that when a player possesses the frisbee, they are not
allowed to move. They must keep on foot planted until they throw the frisbee to a teammate. After a
team score the will pull the disc to the other team at the opposite the one previously scored in. A
normal Ultimate Frisbee game is played in a 90 minute time frame, with victory coming to the first
team to score 13 points. If time runs out in the middle of play, then play will continue until someone
scores. If at the end of that possesion, the score is tied, then the scoring team will pull the disc one
more time in what is called "Ultimate Point". In this case, the team who scores

These two groups have more ability to educate consumers about new products and their benefits. In
my opinion it is very important because the consumers get very confused as CGC provides so many
different products that actually have different benefits. As the products get upgraded people who
work with them should be also upgraded to be able to communicate the message as clear as possible.
4. Investing heavily on promotion and advertising campaigns
Keep spending money on advertising. CGC should try to stick and develop on particular pro to
make him or her a new Tiger Woods, that would not only bring attention to the company but might
also attract more people to the sport itself. The company looks big enough to hold its own
tournaments that would also bring more people.
5. CGC should implement volume discount policies
By practicing volume discount policies CGC might encourage buyer to order products in large
volumes
6. The company should focus on using its previous models more efficiently
Old models take a large percentage of companys inventory what creates unnecessary costs. CGC
should move these models to new markets that recently adopted Golf as a sport.

Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the
fewest strokes won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options
for clubs has increased as well. They have gone from wooden drivers to drivers made of complex
blends of elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all
been improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game fairer.
As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and
frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the
game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the
rules in the game of golf. I've also discovered that the game will most likely stay the same and not
change any of the rule. A big part of the game is knowing that you're going to catch bad

The Most Influential Role Model
Introduction
Throughout my life there have been many leaders, some beneficial and some deficient, from which I
have drawn lessons in my overall leadership development. Leadership values have been gleaned
with respect to professional aspects and general life teachings. As I was contemplating leaders, one
person came to mind as having the most substantial impact upon my life. Through his guidance
helped to transform me into the man that I am, and will continue to impact the person that I aspire to
become in the future. The most influential role model in my personal development is my father,
Freddrick Lee Long. His disposition and peaceful realization of his life personally projects an aura
of contentment and true exhilaration. Throughout his life, he consistently displayed these attributes
in his methods of professional and personal leadership in the simplest ways. Over the course of my
life, he has been a profound influence upon the molding of my leadership style and attributes.
Background
My father was a product of World War II, born in 1940 in Kingsport, Tennessee, the eldest son of a
naval soldier and a hairdresser. Upon return from the war, my grandfather gained employment as an
auto mechanic. The relationship between my father and his parents was somewhat distant. My
grandfather had some residual effects from the war, tantamount to what is now considered to be
post–traumatic stress disorder. My grandmother was focused on the two younger sibling in the

Sports : Golf And Golf
BALL GOLF AND DISC GOLF Sports, they have entertained people for a very long time now.
Whether it be playing the sport or simply watching it, sports can provide an exciting experience for
anyone who is interested in them (or not interested). There are a large variety of sports, some very
different from one another and some very similar. For instance, there are two different types of golf
that people play and are involved with. There is ball golf, which is usually referred to as "golf" and
disc golf, which is usually referred to as "Frisbee golf". Despite both sports being types of golf they
each have distinctive differences that make them two separate sports. No matter what sport it is,
equipment is essential in many sports and allows the participants to play the sport. The equipment
for ball golf and disc golf vary distinctively in many aspects. The name of both sports gives you an
idea of what equipment to use, ball golf uses a ball and clubs to hit the ball. On the other hand, disc
golf uses disc that you throw into the "hole". The target in which you try to get the object into varies,
as well. For ball golf the target is a hole made into the ground that you hit the ball into. Whereas in
disc golf you throw the disc into a basket that has chains around it, this basket is the "hole" and is
required equipment to be able to play disc golf. Since ball golf requires the player to hit a ball on the
ground a tee is used to elevate the ball off the ground so it is easier to

The Life Of The Beach
NOT for nothing did the Beach Boys produce all that wonderful music in the 1960s. If you have
ever visited California, you will realise pretty quickly that the state in which they grew up was what
inspired those great sounds. It is the state of the beautiful people. Everybody seems to be laidback
about life and yet most Californians are obsessed with exercise, keeping fit and keeping their looks
for as long as possible (whether it be through botox or going under the knife). Everybody, it seems,
goes out for a run. And yet, they will climb into a car to go to a shopping mall 100 yards down the
road. The climate is wonderful, and if you are able to get behind the wheel of a convertible and drive
along the Pacific Coast Highway with Barbara Ann, I Can Hear Music, Sloop John B or Surfin '
Safari blaring and the stunning views of the ocean at hand then you will be able to die happy. It was
on my bucket list and I have done it. There is nothing to beat it. I have also played golf in California
and I 've got to tell you that it is something you have to experience. There is very little rain in this
part of the world but it is the greenest state in America, with everybody who lives there into
recycling and conserving water and energy. To keep their greens and fairways in perfect condition,
most of the golf courses use either reconstituted water or water that has gone through a desalienation
plant. And they do a great job, too. Course architects also use a resilient blend of

My stepdad, Jason, had always been a golfer, just for fun and a way to relax. A few days later, there

pure shock. She had never played any other sport in high school so this took me by surprise.
Apparently the same girl, who convinced me to play, also convinced Alexa, just earlier that day.
This exact moment, I became more excited about golfing than I had ever been. I used that cheap,

Evaluation Of A Program Coordinator
Introduction and Background When I look back over my career and I think back to the days when I
was getting my start in the field of sports. I can recall how fortunate enough I was to receive a

department was understaffed at the time of my hiring I was given quite a bit of responsibility. One of
my responsibilities as program coordinator was to note only oversee several programs in the

The only adjustment that might be made is, some of the rules and or regulations for playing or
participating in certain games or activities will need to be adjusted but, in most cases I found that to
be extremely rare. This all depends on the league or age group the individuals are placed in.
Moreover during my time at the recreation I began studying why certain programs in the past had
not worked and what are some of the things that the staff and I could do differently to help benefit
the recreation department as well as the community. According to the article Elderly Athletes Prove
Age Is Just A Number if "elderly people exercise and just keep active and keep their muscles
moving, then they never actually have to waste away and suffer from this gradual fragility. Now
there are some things that 'll happen naturally with aging, but they can really hold on to a lot of your
mobility and your mental clarity with moderate levels of exercise" (2008). Keeping this information
in mind my colleagues in I decided that we could revitalize the sports and activities for the elderly,
produce revenue, along with keeping cost down by mimicking some of the sports that the National
Senior Games Association offers. The developed a concept that included a league for the following

The Game Of Golf Vs. Golf
As Rickie Fowler once wisely said, "All you can do is really the prep work and make sure you 're
ready to hit each golf shot. Outside of that, you 're not sure really what 's going to happen. It 's a
funny game, but I think that 's why I love it. You never know, one day to the next; you could go
shoot 62, and the next day you 're going to shoot 78, and you can 't predict it." The game of golf is
one of the most challenging games offered today. It's interesting that so many amateur golfers, when
they think of improving their games, think of only one thing: improving their golf swing. Certainly,
it's great to develop a technically sound golf swing and to hit the ball higher, longer, and straighter.
However, the golfer who accomplishes this has improved only part of what is needed in order to
become a complete player. The other half of the game is psychological; golf is one of many sports
that requires mental toughness. One way to achieve mental toughness is to have a rigorous process
leading up to your shot. There is a procedure that needs to be followed before hitting every single
shot on the course, especially when attempting to hit an approach shot. Follow these six steps to
properly be prepared to execute the best golf swing possible.

Strategic Planning And Strategic Management Essay
Before a business can strategically plan for the future, it must understand the overall strategic
management process. According to Abraham (2012), "Strategic management is nothing less than
steering and managing a company to be successful over time–not just for the next quarter or year,
but for the long term." (sec. 1.1). Many questions will be answered during this process. "What
direction should the company go in, what industry will it compete in, and what products or services
will be featured?" (Abraham, 2012, sec. 1.1). Strategic planning and strategic implementation are
the two primary parts of strategic management. This paper will focus on strategic planning. The

REVIEW OF FACTS
Rock Creek Golf Club is a public golf course owned by a private company and managed by Lee
Jeffries. The case entails a debate about the golf carts used to take players around the course instead
of walking around. The carts they already owned were old and there was a need for new golf carts.
Approached by two salesman, Lee Jeffries was forced to chose to make a deal with one of them.
Salesman A offered carts at $2,240 each and at the end of five years the expected salvage value was
going to be $240 each.
Salesman B proposed to lease the golf carts for $500 dollars per cart per year. This was payable at

Recommendations and Conclusions
In conclusion of this case, we learned that leasing and purchasing items for the purpose of business
has different implications on the financial status of the company. This is especially true when the
terms for each are different.
Another point to consider is the future impact of either buying or leasing a piece of equipment has
on the future of the company. Does the company hope to depreciate the value of a purchased piece
of equipment and then gain some salvage value at the end. Could any salvage value come from
taking this approach? Would there be any potential buyers for the used equipment if it was yours to
sell at the end of a useful life? These are all questions to consider along with the NPV and terms and
payments and financial stability of the company when determining whether one should buy or lease

I would recommend that Mr. Jeffries take all the analysis he can consider into account before
making his decision keeping in mind that the revenues and expenses he will generate will be the
same regardless of whether he leases or buys the carts. I would then pick the option with highest
NPV and with the payments for both principal and interest that make sense for his company.

What Is Ultimate Frisbee?
Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee – History
Ultimate Frisbee started in 1968on the campus of Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. Jared
Kass a student of Amherst brought the game to a summer camp at Northfield Mount Hermon
School. Joel Silver was attending this summer camp in 1968 when he then took the game back to his
high school. He introduced his idea of Ultimate Frisbee to the Columbia High School student
council in Maplewood, New Jersey. He and his peers refined the game, created the basic rules and
started the first Ultimate team. The next year the game was played for the first time by students from
the newspaper and from the council. They played in their schools parking lot with a wham–o–master
disc, and used telephone poles or the players coats as the goal lines. Originally the name of the game
was called Frisbee Football then it changed to Ultimate Frisbee. The first and second set of rules,
were written in 1970 by Joel Sliver, Buzzy Hellring, and Jon Hines. On Nov. 7th Columbia played
the first interscholastic game. They won over Millburn high school 43 to 10.
The first college Ultimate game was played between Rutgers and Princeton on Nov. 6th 1972.
Rutgers won the game 29–27. The two universities had played the first intercollegiate football game

One of these strategies is to develop open lanes on the field to exchange the disc between the
thrower and the receiver. Another strategy is the vertical stack. This is when the offense lines up in a
straight line along the length of the playing field. Players in the stack make cuts going towards or
away from the handler, thus opening up a lane for to break through. Another strategy is the
horizontal stack. In this strategy three handlers line up across the width of the field with four cutters
up field, spaced evenly across the field. This formation encourages cutters to attack any of the space
either up field or downfield of the

How Golf Is Not A Team Game

  • 1. How Golf Is Not A Team Game Golf enthusiasts come from all different walks of life. The origins of organized golf date back to The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom (Redmond 410). Golf spread from the U.K. to the U.S. and created one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sports. This rivalry drew international attention, and pretty soon, the rest of the world was joining in to play one of the most captivating sports in the world. A large aspect of golf that draws people to it is that golf is not a team game. It is just the golfer against the world, and that is a big appeal to people. Also, golfers have the choice of putting their personal touch on almost every phase. From the clothes they wear, to the clubs and bags that they use, and even the golf balls they hit, people love adding their own personal touch whenever possible. Naturally, that is going to entice an interesting crowd of characters to the same game. Out on the golf course, the driver is a golfer's club of choice. It is the club used most often at the tee during the start of a hole, making it arguably the most important club in a golfer's arsenal. Take the one of the top ranked drivers on the market today, the Callaway X2 Hot driver, for example. There is an incredible amount of work that gets put into creating one of these drivers. The standard shaft of the club is known as the Callaway Aldila Tour Blue shaft. It is a carefully crafted, sleek, blue shaft made of graphite that provides a faster swing ... • 3. I Have An Avid Golfer I have been an avid golfer, ever since I was five years old. I aspired to be like the profession ladies I would watch golf on TV. Before my eight grade year, I thought it would be a good idea to attend an LPGA event. At this age, it would be perfect, because I am young enough that I can get into these tournament for free with an adult, and I am old enough that I would know what to watch for when I am there. The only problem was, I had to pick a tournament that I could possibly be able to play in one day. For most tournaments, there are certain requirements you have to meet to play in. Also, all of the LPGA events were not close to Nebraska, they are all either on the coasts of the U.S. or in another country. The only tournament ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For professionals, that already have their tour card, they can enter into this tournament, along with either being on the top 20 in tournament winnings, top 50 on the money list/Rolex Rankings, or again have a sponsorship. So, in my dreams I could possibly qualify and participate in this tournament one day. There are around 160 players that qualify for this tournament and play on Thursday and Friday, but to play for the weekend, they have to make the cut. To make the cut, the players have to shoot four over par, which makes for high competition to make the cut. This would leave around 70 ladies that would make the cut that get to play the rest of the weekend. A few days before my dad and I leave for the tournament, I mentally prepare myself to know what I 'm going to look for while I 'm there, so I can hopefully apply what I see to improve my game. This would be a great learning experience for me. To watch the professionals and evaluate their swings, alignment, etc. to apply to my golf game. So, when I start getting serious about golfing and enter high school or enter into summer tournaments, I can be ahead of the game. Also, to know what kind of competition I will have to deal with if I ever enter into this tournament. So, my dad and I get to our hotel Wednesday night. We settle in before the next day to go to the tournament. Thursday morning, we wake up bright ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How Traditional Can We Keep The Game Of Golf To me, a very important question is, "How traditional can we keep the game of golf?" The game is evolving at every aspect. They are evolving the golf ball and making it better by making it fly longer in the air and landing softer on the greens. Along with the ball, the clubs are being made better and better making the ball go farther sometimes by even 50 yards. Each year, the irons are being made with better grooves which make the ball come off the club better and farther. While golf equipment is changing, the rules of golf are not. The rules of golf have been here since it's existence. Another question that concerns me is, "Why can the equipment change in golf, but not the rules?" The United States is home to many different kinds of sports. The most complex sports with the most rules seem to be sports like football, hockey, basketball and soccer. Golf is a sport where most people think of as one of the simplest sports, the objective is get a small white ball in a hole. There's no question about it, football and basketball both have a lot of rules that an average person wouldn't know or understand. But, any person knows the goal of golf is to put the ball in the hole. There's not teamwork or having to get through people, it is just a club, a ball, and you. The holes might differ and the number of hazards are different but it is the most straight forward sport there is. But, along with being very straight to the point, there are a lot of rules and different etiquettes that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Personal Narrative-A Golfer's Play Disc Golf A Golfer plays Disc Golf It was an unseasonably cool day. It wasn't the typical hot, sticky August. It was so cool outside my friend had to wear a sweatshirt. The sun was getting lower in the sky caramelizing the sky into a fluorescent pink color. This was our last full day of summer and we wanted to spend it doing something new and exciting. We wanted to play disc golf and I observed my friends and I playing it. The course sits due east of the Fairfax water treatment facility. It is seated perfectly where players can whiff the unmistakable smells that the facility brings. Just east of the course is a quaint little park with an area with slides and monkey bars for the kids, and a covered patio for the adults to watch the children run and play. There are lots of trees guarding the fairways of the course waiting to grab ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Mitch threw his shot, I made sure to take mental notes of how he threw his disc. This was my first time playing this game and it isn't the same as throwing a regular frisbee. I attempted the load up that he got, began my launch and fired the disc at the target. My disc went sky rocketing up in the air. It sat in air for what seemed like an eternity and came back down no where near the hole. My friends all laughed at me and mocked me adolescence in the game. My other three friends with me proceeded to put their discs just as close as Mitch and I pondered how they could do it so easily. They all seemed to have the same concept of throwing the disc. They kept their elbow and shoulder parallel with the ground and the disc would fly towards the target every time. As we completed our first six holes, they were toying with me like a Senior to a Freshman. They knew I was weak in this game so they offered to play a full 18 hole tournament. Being the competitive guy I am, I agreed and played in the tournament. I was never in contention the whole way, it was a battle between Mitch, his Brother Mac, and the Clark duo of Griff and ... • 9. Benefits to Lifetime Sports Benefits of Lifetime Sports Have you ever thought about getting out and exercising but not actually been motivated enough to actually do that same thing? There are much greater benefits to participating in activities and exercise than in sitting on your bum. Everyone knows that the more exercise and activities a person does the healthier they will be. In order for this to be true though a person must continue this throughout his/her life and be committed to doing it more than just once in a blue moon. One easy way to get this exercise is to play a lifetime sport. Lifetime sports include sports that can continue with you for a lifetime, which you can participate in at any age, and don't have an age season. In this essay I ... On the last frame if someone gets a strike or spare they will get an additional attempt. Bowling is counted among the oldest sports known to mankind. Artifacts have been found that suggest that bowling can be dated back to as early as 3200 B.C. As with all sports it is important to maintain a healthy diet when being active and to ensure that Another fun lifetime sport to play at any age is tennis. Tennis tends to be a highly active sport and will require a bit more energy than walking and playing golf. Tennis is played on a court that is fenced off to prevent balls from flying away. The court has a square that the players and ball must stay inside and the square is separated by a net that the ball must go over. It is a game that can be played by two or four people at one given time. The first score is worth 15 points, the second is worth 15 and the last is worth 10. Once a player reaches 40 points and then wins one last round he/she wins the match. The required equipment is a tennis racquet and tennis balls. • 11. My Experience In My Life It was the beginning of summer after my seventh grade year. The sun was blazing, the birds were chirping, and I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom. Life seemed great, until the next day when I was bored out of my mind and had nothing to do. During middle school, I followed my brother, Isaac, around like a mime. Whatever he did I would aspire to do the same. This was no different when, bored out of my mind, I found out my brother was going to go disc golfing with the neighbor friends. When Isaac asked me if I wanted to come with, I jumped up, ran to my bike, and told him I was ready whenever he was. I had never heard of what "disc golf" was, but I knew that since my brother was doing it, it was cool! So I followed Isaac and the neighbor friends all the way to Northside Park, sweating immensely from the summer heat and from how quickly I was biking. On the first hole, Isaac gave me my own disc to borrow for the round. This sport was completely foreign to me, so I threw my disc as hard as I possibly could, in an attempt to impress Isaac and his friends. Not only did the disc go absolutely nowhere, but I threw it so high that the wind actually pushed it backwards. I felt humiliated as everybody laughed at me. Isaac, however, came up to me and explained to me how discs fly and the proper way to throw. Each hole, I could visibly see my disc traveling further than the previous hole. Every time Isaac saw me doing something improperly, he would correct me and tell me how to fix ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is what anyone who has ever stepped on the green grass of a golf course dreams about. However, it is likely, in some way or another that, that dream will never come true. Only about one percent of all people who play golf will have that opportunity, but golfers understand this, and realize there is much more to the game than that. • 24. The Tradition Of Golf And Golf Essay Tradition of Golf For years, golf has been one of the oldest and most traditional sports. As the equipment and golf courses have changed, the etiquette and rules have not. In golf, etiquette has been a major part of the game. Staying quiet on the course and repairing divots are a few examples of proper formality. Common rules include teeing the ball between the tee markers and marking your ball on the green. Along with these guidelines, there are rules that are controversial and seem unfair to golfers. Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the fewest hits won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options has increased as well. They have gone from wood drivers to drivers made of complex blends of elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all been improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game more fair. As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the rules in the game of golf. By inquiring about the tradition of golf, I discovered that the game isn't going to have new rules ever. Sometimes we get bad breaks when we hit a good shot, but we can also hit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ultimate Frisbee Phenomenon In The Sporting World Ultimate Frisbee is a phenomenon in the sporting world Ultimate Frisbee is the fastest growing sport in the United States with a 20.8% increase in participation from 2008 to 2009. Given the rapid growth in recent years, Ultimate is in a essential evolutionary stage as rules, policy, and procedure are quickly being developed and hardened into the broad character of the sport. Little academic research has informed the current organization of the sport, which has come into existence through player–based democratic processes. Ultimate is a phenomenon in the sporting world. As a democratized sport, the success or failure of Ultimate in the future relies on the players themselves. Self–officiating in the sport has been a point of contention since its inception in 1968, and continues to be a charged debate today. In contrast to traditional third–party officiating systems (working in soccer, American football, basketball, hockey, etc.), self– officiating places the burden of in–play management on the active participants themselves, not an external authority. I take three steps forward and launch the small rubber disc. It was a bad throw. My friends burst into laughter as I watch as the disc veer off course and come to a crashing halt in a thicket of trees just ten feet from the tee. That foggy morning was back in July and was the first time I had ever played a game of disc golf. Since that first game I have practiced constantly, revising my throwing form and greatly improving my disc golf abilities. I have included many examples in this portfolio to show how my improvements with eliminating comma splices, adding transition sentences, as well as general editing improvements. When I first began to play disc golf I did not pay much attention to the placement of my fingers on the disc. At the time finger placement did not seem like a major issue. However, as I began to learn more about disc golf I realized that even tiny adjustments of my grip on the disc could greatly improve my overall throw. While writing I did not pay much attention to my sentence structures. We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on whether they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person. Suggesting that Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession in virtue of their personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From the standpoint of employment qualifications, one's sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant consideration. This brings us to the second consideration concerning punishment in one's professional life based on actions in one's personal life. We tend to think that there is an important separation between one's public life and one's private affairs. When one is a celebrity like Tiger Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one might claim that the loss of this distinction is the price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an arbitrary constraint on a person's individual freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public and a private sphere, the fact that a person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right. THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS The second ethical question raised by the Tiger Woods affair scandal concerns whether it is ethical to break a professional contract based on a person's actions in their personal life. Martin came to light when a professional golfer, Casey Martin, with a degenerative disease wanted to use a golf cart during a PGA Tour competition. Without any question of a doubt, the PGA Tour denied Martin's request. In short, The Supreme Court ruled that under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Martin could use a golf cart during competition as it would not affect him more that the degenerative disease already has. This would not provide an unfair advantage to Martin. Golf is a very complicated sport. It is a mental game along with a physical one. The many aspects of golf are very similar to other sports. Golf is a sport because it has similar components to other sports such as strategizing how you play, the equipment used, and the physical strength and endurance required. The first component is strategizing how you play. Knowing the correct club to use in each situation on the golf course is a big factor of strategizing. Before you pick your club you must visualize the ball and see it in its flight path, know the winds speed and direction, the relation of the ball to the target, and lastly if your lie is good or bad (Herrfeldt). The second factor of strategizing is being completely aware of your surroundings. The yardages for each hole are marked on the scorecard or various object throughout the hole (Kelley). Knowing the distance to the hole will allow you to pick the right club to hit the perfect shot. Some factors to consider are wind and your lie. If you are hitting into a strong wind you will need to take a longer distance club, but if you are hitting in the same direction as the wind a shorter club is ideal (Herrfeldt). Another factor in strategizing how you play is to know which swing to take. Short, or softer, swings will not allow the ball to travel as far as hard, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This occurs when the club face starts out to the right of the target line and never leaves that position. The other swing the player could produce is a "square to open" swing path. This is when the club face lines up with the target line at the beginning of the swing and then finishes open of the target. On the other hand Aultman describes that when a player hits the ball to the left, his swing path could either be a "closed to closed" path. Which occurs when the club face has a left facing angle of the target line and never leaves that point. The other swing a player could produce is "square to closed" path. Just like the square to open path the club face starts on the correct plane, but it closes on impact with the golf ball (Aultman 27). Both of these problems can be fixed by finding the right kind of swing, as Rick Smith puts it in his book How to Find Your Perfect Golf Swing. Smith, a tour professional, gives seven aspects that make up the golf swing. First, he describes the "Human Instinct," what naturally comes to the players ' minds when they step up to hit the ball. Second, "The Physical Condition," or a golfers ' ability to swing the club along the correct plane, from the beginning to the completion of their round. The purpose of project was to examine whether or not course design and difficulty play a part in pace of play. Each group proceeds around the course as long as there is capacity at the next hole. For example, on hole #3 there is a capacity of 2 and on the next hole, #4, there is a capacity of one. Therefore the group that is first in the queue on hole #3 cannot advance onto hole #4 if there is a group already there. As indicated in Figure 1, the main bottlenecks in the system exist at the par 3 holes and at the clubhouse transition between holes #9 and #10.. Also taken into account in the model is the handicap of the hole (which is a metric for relative difficulty of the hole). 5. SIMULATION DESIGN There are three sources of data used to populate the model. They are: Past data from other golf simulation models Data from the USGA for average times it takes for various golf metrics Actual golf course operating metrics from Shennecossett G.C., Groton, CT. This step requires learning the rules. The rules of Ultimate Frisbee can be best described as a mix of soccer and football. An Ultimate frisbee field is 100 yards long by 40 yards wide, with fifteen yards of either end of the length of the field being designated as the endzones. To start, each team sends seven players to the front of each endzone and one team will throw the frisbee off to the other team in what is called a "pull". This can be compared to a kickoff in football. Just like football, the goal of the game is ultimately to pass the frisbee to someone in the endzone to score a point. However unlike football and more like soccer, the game is played continuously without stoppage until someone scores. What is unique to frisbee is that when a player possesses the frisbee, they are not allowed to move. They must keep on foot planted until they throw the frisbee to a teammate. After a team score the will pull the disc to the other team at the opposite the one previously scored in. A normal Ultimate Frisbee game is played in a 90 minute time frame, with victory coming to the first team to score 13 points. If time runs out in the middle of play, then play will continue until someone scores. If at the end of that possesion, the score is tied, then the scoring team will pull the disc one more time in what is called "Ultimate Point". In this case, the team who scores ... • 57. Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the fewest strokes won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options for clubs has increased as well. They have gone from wooden drivers to drivers made of complex blends of elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all been improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game fairer. As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the rules in the game of golf. I've also discovered that the game will most likely stay the same and not change any of the rule. A big part of the game is knowing that you're going to catch bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. The Most Influential Role Model Introduction Throughout my life there have been many leaders, some beneficial and some deficient, from which I have drawn lessons in my overall leadership development. Leadership values have been gleaned with respect to professional aspects and general life teachings. As I was contemplating leaders, one person came to mind as having the most substantial impact upon my life. Through his guidance helped to transform me into the man that I am, and will continue to impact the person that I aspire to become in the future. The most influential role model in my personal development is my father, Freddrick Lee Long. His disposition and peaceful realization of his life personally projects an aura of contentment and true exhilaration. Throughout his life, he consistently displayed these attributes in his methods of professional and personal leadership in the simplest ways. Over the course of my life, he has been a profound influence upon the molding of my leadership style and attributes. Background My father was a product of World War II, born in 1940 in Kingsport, Tennessee, the eldest son of a naval soldier and a hairdresser. Upon return from the war, my grandfather gained employment as an auto mechanic. The relationship between my father and his parents was somewhat distant. My grandfather had some residual effects from the war, tantamount to what is now considered to be post–traumatic stress disorder. My grandmother was focused on the two younger sibling in the family. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Sports : Golf And Golf BALL GOLF AND DISC GOLF Sports, they have entertained people for a very long time now. Whether it be playing the sport or simply watching it, sports can provide an exciting experience for anyone who is interested in them (or not interested). There are a large variety of sports, some very different from one another and some very similar. For instance, there are two different types of golf that people play and are involved with. There is ball golf, which is usually referred to as "golf" and disc golf, which is usually referred to as "Frisbee golf". Despite both sports being types of golf they each have distinctive differences that make them two separate sports. No matter what sport it is, equipment is essential in many sports and allows the participants to play the sport. The equipment for ball golf and disc golf vary distinctively in many aspects. The name of both sports gives you an idea of what equipment to use, ball golf uses a ball and clubs to hit the ball. On the other hand, disc golf uses disc that you throw into the "hole". The target in which you try to get the object into varies, as well. For ball golf the target is a hole made into the ground that you hit the ball into. Whereas in disc golf you throw the disc into a basket that has chains around it, this basket is the "hole" and is required equipment to be able to play disc golf. Since ball golf requires the player to hit a ball on the ground a tee is used to elevate the ball off the ground so it is easier to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. The Life Of The Beach NOT for nothing did the Beach Boys produce all that wonderful music in the 1960s. If you have ever visited California, you will realise pretty quickly that the state in which they grew up was what inspired those great sounds. It is the state of the beautiful people. Everybody seems to be laidback about life and yet most Californians are obsessed with exercise, keeping fit and keeping their looks for as long as possible (whether it be through botox or going under the knife). Everybody, it seems, goes out for a run. And yet, they will climb into a car to go to a shopping mall 100 yards down the road. The climate is wonderful, and if you are able to get behind the wheel of a convertible and drive along the Pacific Coast Highway with Barbara Ann, I Can Hear Music, Sloop John B or Surfin ' Safari blaring and the stunning views of the ocean at hand then you will be able to die happy. It was on my bucket list and I have done it. There is nothing to beat it. I have also played golf in California and I 've got to tell you that it is something you have to experience. There is very little rain in this part of the world but it is the greenest state in America, with everybody who lives there into recycling and conserving water and energy. To keep their greens and fairways in perfect condition, most of the golf courses use either reconstituted water or water that has gone through a desalienation plant. And they do a great job, too. Course architects also use a resilient blend of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Talking Rock Nature Preserve: Case Study Planners for the Talking Rock Nature Preserve, near the Gilmer County line on Highway 515, say work on the mountain bike trails has moved slower than anticipated but design work should be underway this month. Bill Jones, the Executive Director of the Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land (STPAL), said he had intentionally held back on the Frisbee golf also planned for the property until the trail configuration was laid out. Work has also somewhat slowed over concerns of whether a disc golf course is really wanted here. STPAL, who currently holds the title to the 211 acres of public space already preserved with a goal of public enjoyment, has several events planned to draw more community involvement, including an upcoming open house on the large swath of property to the ... Jones, who is not a disc golf player himself, said he has not heard any negative comments, but hasn't heard much in the way of support for the course which would have players using Frisbee in wooded settings much like golf. The course is expected to draw dedicated players from around the region as well as the curious locals with their Frisbees looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon. The course would be unmanned and free to play as they are at many existing sites. Jones hopes to gain some insight in the disc golf or other ideas at the "A Day in the Park" planned for later this spring where the trust will welcome anyone from the community to come and see the preserved woodlands and talk about future use. "Our first goal is to see this as protected property, but we need local input and help us set some direction and do some of the work. We want to have something that people will use and people will help with." Anyone with ideas on the park is welcome to e–mail Jones at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She reminded me of Cruella de Ville, seemingly nice at first then right before you know it becomes something much, much worse, just without the horrible hair. And now that it was the spring and with summer would bring the end of school and the start of fall sports. I had to decide, would I play volleyball again (my worst nightmare just to say I played all four years), choose to take time off and enjoy my senior year, or choose to do something else. I was never good at running, so cross country and track were out of the picture, and aggressiveness was never a strong trait of mine, getting rid of all contact sports or any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My stepdad, Jason, had always been a golfer, just for fun and a way to relax. A few days later, there was an announcement over the schools intercom system for any girls interested in playing golf in the fall, there would be a meeting that afternoon. After school I went to the cafeteria where the meeting was being held. I walked in and saw my best friend since kindergarten signing up to play. I was in pure shock. She had never played any other sport in high school so this took me by surprise. Apparently the same girl, who convinced me to play, also convinced Alexa, just earlier that day. This exact moment, I became more excited about golfing than I had ever been. I used that cheap, blue pen to scribble down my name as fast as I could. There was no going back now. That evening, I went home and with the help of Jason, pulled out a dusty, cobweb covered, old set of clubs, which were once my moms for the whole two rounds of golf she had ever played. Once I got them cleaned up, they looked nice. The navy blue bag with silver seaming holding seven perfectly shiny clubs and one that was just a little different, as it had to be taken from a bag of miscellaneous because my mom's putter seemed to have gone missing. These were officially my new clubs, and I was so proud. My parents even decided they would sign me up to take lessons for the summer before season started so I would look like a complete idiot in front of my competitors when I couldn't hit the ... I can recall how fortunate enough I was to receive a position in my cities local recreation department as a program coordinator. Since our recreation department was understaffed at the time of my hiring I was given quite a bit of responsibility. One of my responsibilities as program coordinator was to note only oversee several programs in the recreation department but I was tasked with revitalizing programs and events that weren't a huge success in the past. The only adjustment that might be made is, some of the rules and or regulations for playing or participating in certain games or activities will need to be adjusted but, in most cases I found that to be extremely rare. This all depends on the league or age group the individuals are placed in. Moreover during my time at the recreation I began studying why certain programs in the past had not worked and what are some of the things that the staff and I could do differently to help benefit the recreation department as well as the community. According to the article Elderly Athletes Prove Age Is Just A Number if "elderly people exercise and just keep active and keep their muscles moving, then they never actually have to waste away and suffer from this gradual fragility. Now there are some things that 'll happen naturally with aging, but they can really hold on to a lot of your mobility and your mental clarity with moderate levels of exercise" (2008). • 71. The Game Of Golf Vs. Golf As Rickie Fowler once wisely said, "All you can do is really the prep work and make sure you 're ready to hit each golf shot. Outside of that, you 're not sure really what 's going to happen. It 's a funny game, but I think that 's why I love it. You never know, one day to the next; you could go shoot 62, and the next day you 're going to shoot 78, and you can 't predict it." The game of golf is one of the most challenging games offered today. It's interesting that so many amateur golfers, when they think of improving their games, think of only one thing: improving their golf swing. Certainly, it's great to develop a technically sound golf swing and to hit the ball higher, longer, and straighter. However, the golfer who accomplishes this has improved only part of what is needed in order to become a complete player. The other half of the game is psychological; golf is one of many sports that requires mental toughness. One way to achieve mental toughness is to have a rigorous process leading up to your shot. There is a procedure that needs to be followed before hitting every single shot on the course, especially when attempting to hit an approach shot. Follow these six steps to properly be prepared to execute the best golf swing possible. 1.Evaluate the lie of the ball Walk up to the golf ball and observe the surface it is lying upon. Determine whether the ball is lying on an uphill, downhill, or sidehill. Next, examine the surface the ball is lying on. Conclude whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Strategic Planning And Strategic Management Essay Before a business can strategically plan for the future, it must understand the overall strategic management process. According to Abraham (2012), "Strategic management is nothing less than steering and managing a company to be successful over time–not just for the next quarter or year, but for the long term." (sec. 1.1). Many questions will be answered during this process. "What direction should the company go in, what industry will it compete in, and what products or services will be featured?" (Abraham, 2012, sec. 1.1). Strategic planning and strategic implementation are the two primary parts of strategic management. This paper will focus on strategic planning. The purpose of this paper is to describe a detailed strategic plan for The Club at Hidden Creek that will allow it to grow over the next three years. This paper will present Hidden Creek's history and current business purpose, the present situation of Hidden Creek in the Northwest Florida golf market, and a complete Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. REVIEW OF FACTS Rock Creek Golf Club is a public golf course owned by a private company and managed by Lee Jeffries. The case entails a debate about the golf carts used to take players around the course instead of walking around. The carts they already owned were old and there was a need for new golf carts. Approached by two salesman, Lee Jeffries was forced to chose to make a deal with one of them. Salesman A offered carts at $2,240 each and at the end of five years the expected salvage value was going to be $240 each. Salesman B proposed to lease the golf carts for $500 dollars per cart per year. This was payable at the end of the year for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recommendations and Conclusions In conclusion of this case, we learned that leasing and purchasing items for the purpose of business has different implications on the financial status of the company. This is especially true when the terms for each are different. Another point to consider is the future impact of either buying or leasing a piece of equipment has on the future of the company. Does the company hope to depreciate the value of a purchased piece of equipment and then gain some salvage value at the end. Could any salvage value come from taking this approach? Would there be any potential buyers for the used equipment if it was yours to sell at the end of a useful life? These are all questions to consider along with the NPV and terms and payments and financial stability of the company when determining whether one should buy or lease something. I would recommend that Mr. Jeffries take all the analysis he can consider into account before making his decision keeping in mind that the revenues and expenses he will generate will be the same regardless of whether he leases or buys the carts. I would then pick the option with highest NPV and with the payments for both principal and interest that make sense for his company. • 80. What Is Ultimate Frisbee? Ultimate Frisbee Ultimate Frisbee – History Ultimate Frisbee started in 1968on the campus of Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. Jared Kass a student of Amherst brought the game to a summer camp at Northfield Mount Hermon School. Joel Silver was attending this summer camp in 1968 when he then took the game back to his high school. He introduced his idea of Ultimate Frisbee to the Columbia High School student council in Maplewood, New Jersey. He and his peers refined the game, created the basic rules and started the first Ultimate team. The next year the game was played for the first time by students from the newspaper and from the council. They played in their schools parking lot with a wham–o–master disc, and used telephone poles or the players coats as the goal lines. Originally the name of the game was called Frisbee Football then it changed to Ultimate Frisbee. The first and second set of rules, were written in 1970 by Joel Sliver, Buzzy Hellring, and Jon Hines. On Nov. 7th Columbia played the first interscholastic game. They won over Millburn high school 43 to 10. The first college Ultimate game was played between Rutgers and Princeton on Nov. 6th 1972.
