Abstract
The challenge of nonprofit leadership can prove to be daunting for even the most optimistic of
individuals. The nonprofit industry is and expanding revolution, a force said to influence national
and global economies. Domestically, the nonprofit sector accounts for "more than half of America's
general hospitals, nearly half of its education institutions and most of its family service agencies
(Rowe, 2013), opportunities created by economic and political failures. In the wake of rapid
development, environmental pressures, economic impact, and growing challenges, nonprofits are
being placed under a microscope, being pushed to take more strategic approaches to NPO
management and to apply sound business principals. For a novice in nonprofit leadership, such as I,
the endeavor of creating a sustainable organization in such a competitive environment can be
intimidating.
In the text, Introduction to Nonprofit Management, Rowe and Conway present the key theories of
NPO management through case studies. The examination of these cases highlight managerial issues

1. Introduction
There are a number of issues surrounding the general area of "quality" in project management. You
will need to be aware of some of the requirements of PRINCE (or PRINCE2) as well as the more
general aspects of the ISO 9000 and 14000 series.
2. Quality requirements as part of PRINCE
PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) was revised from PRINCE in 1996 and is the
accepted standard for the control of projects in the computing area of the public sector. It is also
widely used outside this sector as a way of formalising project control procedures.

environmental impacts. This is relevant, in parts, to projects and their impacts.
4. The Prince2 Quality Plan/Manual:
The quality plan needs to cover in detail several key aspects of project control:
How quality criteria will be set?
What measures are to be taken to prevent the occurrence of faults or variances?
What will be done to detect and correct any faults/variances that do occur?
What tests/procedures will be used to demonstrate that quality criteria are being met?
What review and follow up procedures will be used?
Who will perform the quality control work?
What documentation will be produced by the process?
5. The Prince2 Quality Review and Log:
This might be the most important part of quality control in your PRINCE2 project. The aim is to
find any errors, deviations from standards or omissions in the task or stage once it is claimed to be
finished or at any other agreed point.
It is a face–to–face meeting (of no more than two hours) which should allow early error or variance
trapping. It consists of preparation, review and follow up procedures.
A quality log is kept of all invitations, attendees, results, corrective actions and sign–offs. This log
can then be inspected as an audit trail by the user/stakeholder/client or by any independent quality
assurance agency in event of any disputes.

Different interview techniques such as probing questions, responding to the informants, showing
interest, reconfirming the response, taking notes, follow up and remind the informants to stay in line

This paper will discuss some of the things that I deal with in my workplace as an Environmental
Service Aide in a hospital one example of this deals with time management issues. The biggest
issues dealing with time management at my job are job quality and completion. This is because staff
may try to complete their tasks too quickly in order to meet time restrictions. It is also important
when it comes to the scheduling and payroll departments because some of the staff can go over in
their hours. For example, the people that are hired part time are getting full time hours to cover staff
that may call out or become sick. This can impede our budget and send us into overtime. There are
staff training issues as well because of time management. This is a very critical issue because people
that are new hires must be trained in their certain roles and if they do not know how to do something
correctly they cannot work efficiently at the hospital.
Another issue I face in my workplace are communications issues. Communication is the livelihood
of an organization and, without it, things will not get done and topics may need to be communicated
from one peer to the next for ensure patient care. Organizations and employees may lack the ability

However, decision to postpone discipline often turns against employee in question, other members
of the department, and manager. I had opportunity to witness how lack of discipline can unravel
entire department. At some point one of my coworkers, let's name her Kathy, started coming late.
My office is very flexible and we don't have strictly set hours, but it is understandable that business
hours start no later than nine in the morning. At first Kathy would come around 10 AM couple times
a week. Because there was no reaction from the manager slowly 10 AM become Kathy's regular
starting time. After everybody in the department got used to that Kathy starts her day at 10 AM, she
pushed her lateness to 11 AM. Before there was any reaction from the manager, Kathy was coming
to work around noon and stay in the office to eight in the evening. Shortly after that it was
discovered that Kathy is leaving office after five in the afternoon and comes back to punch the time
card at eight. Our manager was sustaining from officially disciplining Kathy because she discovered
that Kathy had financial and marital problems at home. Slowly Kathy's work was falling behind,

In my research I discovered that there are many ways to effectively manage and motivate an
