Managing Work Priorities And Professional Development Report
Project 1
1 Write a personal reflection that explains how you would go about managing your work priorities and professional development. In the personal
reflection you should ask and answer these questions:
This project will attempt to highlight the actions I would undertake in specific areas of managing work priorities and professional development. 1.
What makes a good role model and how would I ensure that I acted as a role model for employees I supervise?
A role model is a person others look up to and admire. They display certain qualities and behaviors to emulate, to learn from and to pass onto others.
Qualities of a good role model in the workplace is respect of others, dedication to their job; illustrated by their hardwork and ... Show more content on

It is important for a manager to set work goals and plan work effectively, especially because these must reflect that of the organizations. To ensure work
goals and plans are created accordingly I must have insight into the organizations long–term vision strategy as well as my own role and responsibilities
within the organization. Organizations also set strategic and operational plans therefore as a manager I would need to examine and keep up–to–date
with these to ensure my goals and plans are inline with the organizations. Referring to the organizations long–term vision strategy, plus their strategic
and operational plans when goal setting, will ensure I create accurate goals, plan work effectively and produce results when carrying out work
activities. 4. How would I ensure that I meet my job responsibilities?
Working within a team environment means working interdependently, therefore, my ability to get my job done is dependent on others and others
depend on me to get their work done; as each independent role contributes to the overall function of the organization. So, working effectively in a team
environment to meet responsibilities requires communication, flexibility and meeting deadlines. To ensure I meet my job responsibilities I can
regularly review my job description to identify whether my goals remain inline with my job responsibilities; these can change over the course of
employment. Other actions and

Is It Sheer Genius?
Hi, Craig! Throughout this semester, I've found most, if not everything, you've submitted for both Professor Foreman's consideration and our
enjoyment quite impressive. More than once I have found myself using your work as a benchmark, comparing it against my own to see in what areas
my strengths lay and where there's room for improvement. It needn't get said, but I'll just go ahead and say it: this culminates all the spurts of
brilliance you've shown throughout this class and combines them into one neat and enthralling package. The idea of having students "[create] opening
scenes for a script that includes [scene] heading, [description] of [scene] and [action], [protagonist introductions and transitions] from Ordinary World
to Call to Adventure" is sheer genius in my book. Last year, I took a Screenwriting Fundamentals class here at Southern New Hampshire University
and had an incredible time, but the syllabus didn't include The Writer's Journey in any way/shape/form, nor did any of the students bring it up during
the many discussion board roundtables we had. Having had quality time here and there over the last few weeks to make a concerted effort at
accounting for everything Vogler mentions in the book, it seems as though whoever came up with the class's curriculum missed out on a major–league
opportunity. It's my sincere hope that later versions of the class will find ways to include the 'writer's journey' concept–the same way its author was on
to something when he came

Personal Reflection Of Learning : My Personal Learning Style
From the standpoint of what is my learning style, I am definitely a tactile learner. For me to gain my greatest ability to learn, I must use my hands to
physically work through something. This process allows me to build relationships between the content that I'm being taught and the outcomes that I
need to reach. The biggest challenge that I have experienced with my own learning is my struggle with my reading skills. This challenge was not
something that I met head on. Instead I found ways to work around my issues with reading. Using my kinesthetic learning style, I was able to make up
for my poor reading ability. I have found that being able to apply something to what I am reading allows me to form relationships and gain a better
understanding of the subject matter I am trying to learn. I feel success in my learning comes from being able to build an understanding of what I've
learned so I can apply it, or show relationship to how a given topic is important to myself or my students lives.
I obtained my undergraduate degree from Saginaw Valley State University with a double major in history and specialeducation, with an Emotional
Impairment endorsement. I have currently started my 6th year as an educator. I spent the first three years of my career teaching at Rogers City High
School where I co–taught in various math and English classes, with four different teachers. This placement was a full inclusion setting with no

VARK Questionnaire : The Characteristics Of Learning Style
Knowing one's learning style has been influential in aiding students in the classroom learn more adequately (Prithishkumar & Michael, 2014).
Research gathered in the classroom has shown a greater motivation and performance level of students who are taught using their preferred learning
style (Sternberg, 1990). There are four primary learning styles: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. Visual learners think by observing
pictures, diagrams, and handouts. Auditory learners prefer to listen and interpret rather than take notes. Readers and writers prefer to make lists and
take notes in different kinds of formats, whether it is online or in print. Kinesthetic learners learn by manipulating objects and continuously repeating
physical activities to learn a skill (Leite, Svinicki & Shi, 2009). What is your learning style? If you are not sure which style fits best, The VARK
Questionnaire will help determine which learning style fits you. The VARK Questionnaire was designed in the late 1980s by teacher and learner,
Neil Fleming, and has been validated by Dr. Walter Leite from the Research and Evaluation Methodology program at the University of Florida.
Fleming was puzzled after observing admirable teachers who did not grasp certain learners, and terrible teachers who did. After moving to Lincoln
University while working in staff development, he decided to try and solve the puzzle. While trying to find answers, Fleming found that taking notice

Procedural Lessons: Children and Mathematics
Mathematics has become a very large part of society today. From the moment children learn the basic principles of math to the day those children
become working members of society, everyone has used mathematics at one point in their life. The crucial time for learning mathematics is during the
childhood years when the concepts and principles of mathematics can be processed more easily. However, this time in life is also when the point in a
person's life where information has to be broken down to the very basics, as children don't have an advanced capacity to understand as adults do.
Mathematics, an essential subject, must be taught in such a way that children can understand and remember. All children learn differently and teachers,

These three methods are collectively known as the VAK model, which stands for visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Each is different from one another
and most people learn best when taught through a combination of these methods. The first method, visual, involves the use of visual representation of
knowledge to understand concepts. Visual learners learn best through charts, diagrams, videos, handouts, and reading the body language and facial
expressions of the teacher. A visual learner will also benefit from note–taking, highlighting certain areas and reviewing every so often. For example, a
visual learner will learn best when they see the teacher using blocks to explain the problem three times five. Watching the teacher place three stacks
with five blocks and counting the total blocks will let the visual learner understand why three times five is fifteen. The student would then write notes
on this concept, drawing a picture of the three stacks of five blocks to refer back to later. Auditory learners, on the other hand, learn best through
lectures, listening to the teacher explain the concept and following a set of instructions. Auditory learners learn best in a classroom environment,
allowing for classroom debate upon a topic. This debate allows for multiple different approaches to a concept to be put forth until the one the learner
prefers is found. An auditory learner would learn best from hearing the concept and then going over it again out loud to

Kinesthetic Learning Style Analysis
Gneeve Thomas November 3, 2015 The learning style that I identified with is kinesthetic. Kinesthetic is learning by being hands on, replacing pencil
and paper with an object. Their focus is short unless they are using their hands, but this type of learners learn and remember better when they are
allowed to move. People with this learning style has good eye–hand coordination, I was always told by my volleyball coaches I have good eye–hand
coordination. When I'm in the class room just sitting there I tone out and think about something else, but when I went to a vocational school I was
focused when the teacher was talking. Another characteristic of kinesthetic learning is they aren't good at spelling or have the best handwriting, and I
have both especially the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I'm rarely fidgety, but I tap my pencil or shake my leg. Kinesthetic learners are uncomfortable in the classroom, where there is no hands–on learning. I
second guess myself and think that my answer is wrong so I'm shy and don't want to look stupid in front of the class, that's why I don't answer
questions in class. When I was in a school with hands–on learning, I was in a medical lab where I answered the questions right and felt comfortable to
answer them. I did know I'm a kinesthetic learner. When I was in second grade they noticed I have ADD and my school ran some test on me and
they told my mom I'm a hands on kind of learner. Then in fourth grade my English class did an assignment to see what learning style we are. Getting
tested in second grade and learning about different learning styles in the fourth grade, this assignment didn't surprise me at all. In english and math I
prefer the auditory style along with kinesthetic style of learning. When I'm writing a paper, I like to bounce off my ideas with someone. Math if you

Child Literacy Research Paper
The Effects of Teaching Methods on Child Literacy
Teaching children how to read is the most influential part of a child's education. The base of any child's education relies on the ability to read and
write. Many children all over America will grow older without having a proper education. In result of this, many jobs are unreachable to America's
population that can not do daily basic educational activities. Teaching methods have an immense impact on childliteracy. Literacy in the United States
during 1947 was at an all time low. Only about 2.7 percent of Americans knew how to read or write. Nicknamed the "illiterates" during WWII,
soldiers were given special training. In 1947, 106 million people populated the U.S. Roughly 2.8 million were children under the age of fourteen and
could not read in English or any other subject therefore, they were classified as illiterate. The proportions of illiterates was successively ... Show more

Over seventy percent of America's inmates can not read above a fourth grade level. (Facts)
One child in four grows older without learning how to read. Some of the most illiterate cities in America are: San Antonio TX, Bakersfield CA, and

catastrophe by helping adults understand ways to teach the child. Also, we can start youth programs and book

. The main technique used in this project is role play. We are using this technique in order to immerse the reader into the life of an orphan in hopes that
the reader will now better understand the true emotion and meaning of the book. Role play is an interesting way of trying to better understand any
subject of knowledge. Becoming the characters of readings can bring out true emotions and meanings from almost any text. Switching roles with the

Tactical/Kinesthetic Learning Style Analysis
For so many years, I thought I was a visual learner. Once I read the different learning styles and took the Learning Styles Characteristics Quiz, I learned
that I am a Tactical/Kinesthetic learner. Tactical/Kinesthetic learners learn through touch, movement and space, get restless during long lectures, tend
to collect things, enjoy feeling, discovery and action, like to move around, enjoy working with tools, and learn the best through hands–on approach.
Some of the learning strategies for this learning style are, sitting in a comfortable chair, study while listening to music, squeezing a stress ball instead of
fidgeting, color grounding, try to hear words in their head, and when learning new information, makes flash cards to help process the information.
Tactical/Kinesthetic learner's strengths are that they enjoy using tools or lesions that involve active participation, have good memory, and have good
motor communication. Amongst the three learning styles in this activity, Tactical/Kinesthetic learning appears to be the most hands on learning style....

Relationship Between The Student 's Success And Learning...
In my research I chose four students in my math class at the Levine campus at CPCC. I decided to study the relationship between the student's
success and learning style. In a recent video I seeing, it states that there are different way student's learn. Three learning styles are visual, auditory,
and kinesthetic. The students I chose to study are four students and each are from different background, but same gender. Based on grades and
class participation I decided to evaluate them and see how these strategies take effect on each one. All female students were sitting in different
locations of the classroom. Each student walks in class and sits with their friends to socialize. Most of them sit and discussed previous class
lectures or asked other peers for help. The one's I chose to evaluate would come in class just a few minutes before class began. I studied their routine
and the way that they paid attention to the lecture and how many are successful in class. The first student, S1, walks in class before the other three
students. She sits in front of the class to the side, takes out her laptop, snack, notebook, calculator, and pencil pouch. During lecture she would be
working on other class assignments and writing on her notebook. I noticed that when she heard the instructor go over a particular topic she would take
out her second notebook and take notes. Towards the middle of the class, she would close her laptop and eat her snack and just listen to the lecture.

Essay On Importance Of Dance In Education
For most elementary age students around the country the core subjects such as science, math, and reading are separated from the arts. However,
schools across the country are slowly combining the arts with the other subjects and are finding success. Dance is one form of art that would have
multiple benefits for students. Dance and physical movement should be incorporated into elementary education because it improves students' attention
and interest in learning, improves learning in core subjects, and promotes a healthy lifestyle in students.
The first reason why teachers should integrate dance into education is that dance increases students' attention and reaches students of different learning
types. One study was done to determine whether lessons that incorporate movement were effective at generating student's situational interest. They
compared the outcomes of movement and non movement lessons in second and third grade reading and math classes. The teachers provided one week
of lessons that included movement and one week of lessons that did not. Students were asked to use their bodies to illustrate specific concepts they
were taught. At the end of the study, the teachers rated students' interest levels, and they found that students were more excited by and engaged in the
lessons that integrated movement than those that did not. Surprisingly, they also found that the dancing did not hinder the amount of content learned
during the lesson (Lindt and Miller). Dance could be a

My Learning Styles Are Kinesthetic And Visual Essay
Name: Ngan Thu Bui
Frame Of Reference
Analysis Paper #1
1.My learning styles are kinesthetic and visual. When I learn to do something, I always skip the instruction, tending to jump right in and try it. In
terms of Mutual Intelligence, I scored 3.57 in Nature, 3.43 in Self, and 3.14 Musical. The MI score nearly mirrors who I am, except the language and
kinesthetic scores. It's true that I'm not good at math and logical problems, but I do enjoy new languages. I'm bilingual now and I want to be a trilingual
in the future. Therefore, I believe that my score in linguistic and kinesthetic should be higher. There are some statements in the Assessment results
which I find accurate about me. For instance, "Take photographs of what you find on your hike", "You like working on projects on your own", and
"You enjoy humming or singing along with music." My Keirsey Score is INFP which means my learning score is NF. I'm not the type of person
who logically plans to do everything. I prefer to be led by feelings. It's also true that I'm an introvert when I'm around people who I don't feel
comfortable with. Actually, I change into another person when I'm with my family and friends. It's interesting that my boyfriend shares totally different
traits in his Keirsey Score; he's an ISTJ. While I focus on creativity and don't follow the plan, he tends to plan everything in advance. Sometimes, the
differences in our personalities create arguments. However, I believe those differences have more

A Healthy And Strong Toolbox Of Coping Strategies Essay
Another main goal would be to develop a healthy and strong toolbox of coping strategies for when I am finding myself in times of irrational
thinking, depression, or any other pattern of thinking or behavior that prevents me from living life to the fullest. I think this goal would take
precedence in the counseling sessions and eventually works it's way into homework from the counselor. CBT does focus on trying to change
behavior, so changing my behavior associated with different moments in my life would be useful. I do find that when I start to spiral in these
behaviors an thoughts, I think to myself that I am not doing an good like this and that I need to figure out some way to deal with what I am feeling or
thinking. CBT would give me the tools and strategies to be able to do just that. In turn, having coping mechanisms for when I am impatient or stressed
would help me maintain a more relaxed and fulfilled life. Techniques. I learn best by having tangible and concrete experiences to use as examples.
Therefore, I think that the techniques associated with CBT would be quite impactful because a majority of them are centered around psychoeducation
and kinesthetic interventions. A very uncomfortable yet useful technique would be Stress Inoculation Training in which I would be exposed to dealing
with mild stress and once finding success with that then working my way up to becoming successful in dealing with more moderate levels of stress.

Visual, Aural, Read/Write, And Kinesthetic Learning
Learning styles is a term used to refer to the methods of gathering, processing, interpreting, organizing, and thinking about information. (Marcy, 2001)
In 1987 Dr. Neil D. Fleming, an educator of more than 40 years created VARK, an acronym for visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic preference
modalities. In Fleming's model, learners are identified by whether they have a preference for visual learning (pictures, movies, diagrams), Aural
(auditory) learning (music, discussion, lectures), reading and writing (making lists, reading textbooks, taking notes), or kinesthetic learning
(movement, experiments, hands–on activities). (Cherry, 2015) Those with a multi–dimensional modal set of VARK preferences need to process

This paper will compare the writers preferred learning strategies to the identified strategies, and evaluate any changes needed to this writers' study
habits.
Results of Questionnaire
After taking the VARK questionnaire this writer had the following results: Visual
–1, Aural–3, Read/write–6, Kinesthetic–6. The highest score is equal
between read/write and kinesthetic followed by aural and visual. This makes the writer bimodal. According to the VARK analysis this writer will need
written instruction such as note taking, textbooks, and written instructions as well as hands–on demonstrations. Diagrams and lectures would not be
very beneficial to this writer unless the information could be turned into words or motion.
Preferred Learning Styles With read/write this writer would need to take in the information by lists, textbooks, and notes (usually verbatim).
Repetition is very beneficial to this type of learner such as writing words repeatedly or rereading notes. To do well on a test or assignment this type of
learner should write exam answers and practice with multiple choice questions. For the kinesthetic learner, information should be taken in by all
senses– sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. The hands–on approach works well and when seeking a lecture one with a lecturer who gives real life
examples or involves the audience with demonstration it be the best

Learning Style : Strength, Weaknesses, And Preferences
A learning style is an individual's approach to learning based on strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. Knowing yourself as a learner is important if
you want to achieve to the best of your ability. When it comes to processing information, your brain is the most important part of your body. There are
four different types of learning styles, Visual, Auditory, Read/Write learning and last Kinesthetic. Taking the VARK learning style questionnaire I have
come across that I have two learning styles in which I learn best in and that includes Reading and Writing, along with being a Kinesthetic learner.
Having a Read and Write learning style means that this preference uses the printed word as the most important way to convey and receive information.
The next learning style I achieved high in is Kinesthetic, this preference uses your experiences and the things that are real even when they are shown in
pictures and on screens.

Kinesthetic Learning
A diverse amount of studies have been conducted in finding the best ways for a child to learn such as learning from peers, or scaffolding techniques.
The numerous ways a child can learn offers that children have different preferences when it comes to what method of instruction is most adequate for
them (Pashler, 2008). Pashler (2008) suggests that some children are simply visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners, which infers that the use of senses
plays a major role in the way a child learns. Stein and Steele (1976) suggest that some children are reflective or impulsive learners, which distinguishes
the difference between thinking and not thinking before making an action. Biggs suggest that some children are surface, or deep learners, which... Show

A child that learns best using visuals operates under the meshing hypothesis. This means that whenever a visual learner is presented with new
information, it intertwines with his or her own natural habits or tendencies (Pashler, 2008). There is a possibility that visual learners can also correlate
best with verbal learning and that verbal learners can correlate best with visual learners without the meshing hypothesis (Pashler, 2008). Auditory
learners must have information read to them or voiced to them in order for them to learn new material. For example, a student that can sit in class
without taking notes and only listens could store up to 75 percent the new material (Pashler, 2008). A kinesthetic learner learns by using their hands and
physically working with ideas. A kinesthetic learner will have major problems just sitting at a desks listening to lectures or watching videos (Pashler,
2008). Kinesthetic learner learns while being interactive, so a teacher would have to implement hands on activities within their lessons (Pashler,

Understanding Your Learning Style: Understanding...
Understanding your learning style Kinesthetic learners are the type of learners that are into hands on activities and learn best while moving and doing
things while being taught. Many people all have different types of learning styles and I can say as a kinesthetic learner it can sometimes be difficult or
rewarding to know the way you learn. When I took four different learning tests I found out that I am the type of learner that can learn in four different
ways, and in all honesty I was quite surprised, so I had to do some research on the type of learning and find the one that fits me best. I then read
through many different things and found out that I have similarities to all of the four types of learning so I had to look through a bunch

Kinesthetic Learning In Education
An important component of the successful instruction in students is the use of personalized learning strategies that is characterized by a curriculum
and instructional strategies that embed various techniques to help engage learners and improve the overall quality of instruction (Brand, Dunn, & Greb
2002). Kinesthetic learning and instructional strategies help to provide learners with the opportunity to learn by doing. Favre (2009) writes:
Kinesthetic strategies are carefully planned activities that consider the content and the learner. If we understand that kinesthetic learners require
learning by doing to process new and difficult information, then kinesthetic strategies align that approach with the information to be taught, carefully ...

Learning Styles: Recognition and Accommodation Essay
The recognition and accommodation of the diverse learning styles exhibited by team members can lead to improved interaction and greater synergy
online or face–to–face. The most commonly recognized learning styles are derived from the main sense used for sensory input. Commonly, the three
most pertinent and all–encompassing learning styles are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. If the learning styles can be properly identified and
accommodated in both the face–to–face and online environments, the result will be greatly empowered people and more effective teams.
Listening or speaking to facilitate the learning process characterizes the auditory learning style. It can be divided into two sub–categories: the listening
learner who learns by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This need not require great expense, simply an easel, an example, or a repetition of what was just said can make a world of difference to the various
learners, and in turn, to the organizations that these learners compose.
The online application of the auditory learning style in an academic situation requires the learner to be creative in his assimilation of information since
the opportunity for direct auditory learning is minimal. Perhaps the off–line interaction between the learner and others in social or familial settings can
supplant his need for discussion. In that way the learner can strike a balance between the diminished capacity for direct auditory learning in an online
environment. This allows for a quasi–discussion format in which the verbal learner can express problems and develop solutions in his own mind.
The online application of the auditory learning style professionally, allows for a wider range of learning options. In the professional environment, the
learner may often be exposed to others who are involved in the online learning process. A professional learner in an online course associated with the
company may be exposed to others within the company who are also taking the class. This provides opportunities for interaction among them, away
from the online forum. Without the benefit of direct explanation or lecturing, he would benefit from the availability

The Importance Of Patient Education For Nursing
Patient education plays a vital role in nursing, and as first year nursing students it is important to our career to develop skills in the process of teaching
as well as developmental theories. To practice this teaching process, we conducted two interviews with a 19–year–old female currently in the early
adulthood stage. Ghorbani, Soleimani, Zeinali and Davaji (2014) state that patient education has been shown to reduced anxiety of patients and improve
the satisfaction of health care. Client education is also said to improve the quality of life, helps to reduce illness complications, maximize independence
and ensures that continuity of care is present (Bastable, 2014). Although within the health care system things preventing or decreasing the effectiveness
of patient education may include nurses not have the knowledge of what to teach or how to teach it and lack of time and resources (Ghorbani et al.,
2014). To understand further the important of patient education we must possess a knowledge of the education process including assessment, planning,
implementation, and evaluation (APIE) (Bastable & Alt, 2014). Throughout this paper, we will evaluate our use of the educational process by teaching
the learner about caffeine. Note that both interviews conducted took place in a private setting that was mutually agreed upon between learner and
teachers. To ensure client confidentiality only the learner and teachers were present during the teaching process. Both interview

Controversy Over Television's Negative Effects On Children
We've all heard it before: TV rots your brain! But is that really true? While there is some science to support the claim, it hasn't yet changed the fact
that most of the people we know have televisions. So why is that? The fact of the matter is that so many people have televisions because there is
nothing inherently harmful about them. They don't have arms and legs. They aren't sentient. They can't get up, grab you, and force you to watch them
all day. As human beings, we have free will, and it is not an electronic's fault if we do not have the restraint and self–control necessary to correctly use
its technology. When used responsibly, televisions have the potential to benefit us through education and entertainment, and they should not be blamed
for our shortcomings. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and other similar organizations have argued for years that TV is
hurting the world's kids in a number of ways. The Academy says TVs stop children from playing sports, spending time... Show more content on

This is because many shows depict violence as a fun activity that the "cool kids" do. However, it's ridiculous to blame this on the show, as it didn't
create itself. The creators of the show and the parents of the children watching should be held responsible. Producers of children's shows should be
subject to some kind of regulation on the content of their creations, so that things like drugs, sex, and violence are not included. Everyone knows
those things aren't appropriate for young minds, and parents know that as well! Adults with young children need to take the blame for what those kids
are watching. They are the ones who pay for cable and allow the viewing of the inappropriate TV shows, and they should be expected to parent
effectively and regulate the environment their children are raised

Tactile-Kinesthetic Learning Style
Being knowledgeable about learning styles can be very useful for your academic and professional career. We communicate with our peers and
colleagues on a daily basis, so it's important to understand how each party does so. Just recently, I completed the online "Learning Styles Inventory"
evaluation provided by the Baker College Academic Office. The results showed that my primary learning style is "auditory", followed closely by
"tactile–kinesthetic" which I believe is a fairly accurate assessment. For simplicity, the focus of this paper will be auditory learning.
We auditory learners tend to be easily distracted and prefer a quiet study environment. When trying to memorize a list, making up an acronym or

FINAL ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPERIITechnology in The Classroom With technology rapidly advancing in a brief period of time,
elementary school students should have the opportunity to use technology in their classrooms. The main issue with technology in schools is that there is
not enough technology being integrated into the classrooms. Technology may be expensive, but it can help students in the long run and it can also help
the environment. These are the issues that most people gravitate to argue about on either side. However, this issue does have a potential solution that
can help our schools financially and save our environment. One of the reasons why schools should make the switch to use technology in the
classrooms is because, textbooks become heavier over the span of a student's life. The one thing every child dreads the most about going to school, is
having to lug around their huge backpack full of textbooks and homework. The Archives of Disease in Childhood conducted a study and found that an
ordinary student's backpack weighs 15.4 pounds, which is a generally three to four textbooks (ProCon, 2016). The common weight for a single tablet
is .75 pounds to two pounds. Pediatricians have strongly recommended students to not haul more than 15 percent of their body weight in a
backpack (ProCon, 2016). From 1994 to 2000, data from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported more than 23,000
students, from the ages of six to eighteen years old were sent to emergency rooms for back injuries that were related to using a backpack (ProCon,
2016). Some of the injuries were contusions, fractures, strains and sprains to the back and shoulders. Tons of people suffer from back issues like
scoliosis, this is a problem in schools because students are putting more strain on their back. Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine and
idiopathic scoliosis is common in children from the age of at least 10 years old

My Learning Styles Are Kinesthetic And Visual Essay
Frame Of Reference
Analysis Paper #1
My learning styles are kinesthetic and visual. When I learn to do something, I always skip the instruction, I tend to jump right in and try it. In terms of
Mutual Intelligence, I scored 3.57 in Nature, 3.43 in Self, and 3.14 Musical. The MI score nearly reflects who I am except the language and kinesthetic
score. It's true that I'm not good at math and logical problems but I do enjoy new languages. I'm bilingual now and I want to be a trilingual. Therefore, I
believe that my score in linguistic and kinesthetic should be higher. There are some statements in the Assessment results which I find so true about
myself. For example, "Take photographs of what you find on your hike", "You like working on projects on your own", and "You enjoy humming
or singing along with music." My Keirsey Score is INFP which means my learning score is NF. I'm not the type of person who logically plans to do
everything. I prefer to be led by feelings. It's also true that I'm an introvert when I'm around people who I don't feel comfortable with. Actually, I
change into another person when I'm with my family and friends. It's interesting that my boyfriend shares totally different traits in the Keirsey Score;
he's an ISTJ. While I focus on creativity and don't follow the plan, he tends to plan everything in advance. Sometimes, the differences in our
personalities create arguments. However, I believe the differences have more positive effects on our relationship

Analysis of Learning Styles Learning styles of individual students vary and as a consequence, learning needs also change from each student to the next
(Liew, Sidhu, & Barua, 2015). The "styles" for learning that are widely adopted include the Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic (VARK) model,
developed by Fleming and Mills (1992) include Visual (V), Auditory (A), Read/Write (R) and Kinaesthetic (K) types of learning approaches. The

So kinesthetic for kinesthetic, visual for visual and so forth. This means that when a teacher, who is completely auditory, is explaining kinesthetic
learners are unable to understand as quickly as if they were learning a procedure. Through the senses kinesthetic learners understanding becomes
easier. This needs to be taken in account as a nurse. One of the more important aspects of health is continuance of care. Continuance of care can only
happen if everyone is on the same page, which makes communication and teaching key. As nurse and teacher, we need to understand that each person
learning is individual. Every person learns differently and we need to accommodate this so that we can be effective in health care. This means
including all methods to teach. For example this would mean being able to communicate the topic well for the auditory learners, show a graph for the
visual learners and do a project for the kinesthetic learners (UVU | Kinesthetic Learning Style | Learning Styles | Home, n.d.). It is hard to touch all of
the ways of learning but as a teacher it is necessary to help all of you students learn as much as you can. In the health care field understanding is key to
having better patient outcomes and comprehension of new knowledge. Combining all of these methods of learning encourages education and determines

way the brain receives and process new information. There are many approaches to learning one of these is the Kinesthetic learning. The purpose of

kinesthetic style of learning may affect those teaching and those learning.

Exploration Of Myself As A Learner
Exploration of Myself as a Learner I went to Strath Haven, a public high school in a fairly wealthy suburb of Philadelphia. Because my school
district was academically successful and did not suffer financially, I was able to enjoy many perks that other schools have been forced to cut such as
a rich arts program and myriad electives. In addition to an honors track, Strath Haven offers many Advanced Placement courses and allows students to
take classes at nearby Swarthmore College. In high school, I probably would have been described as a "well–rounded student": I was an AP/honors
student, took a class at Swarthmore, competed as a three–season athlete, and presided over the book club. As I will discuss later in my profile, I
struggled a lot with time management skills, a problem I would say has worsened since I started university. For the most part, though, my teachers
naturally catered to my learning needs. However, while I was still there, Strath Haven used the "Integrated Math Program," which purports to foster
creative and critical thinking because it "calls on students to experiment with examples, look for and articulate patterns, and make, test, and prove
conjectures" (IMP website). Instead, IMP made me feel lost, and I yearned for the example–based approach used by my middle school teachers. I was
unsurprised when the test in Brain–Based Strategies identified me as a "strong left brain." This definitely reminded me of my experiences with IMP
because, according to

The Kinesthetic Learners That When Learning Information
I explained to the kinesthetic learners that when learning information, they usually are most interested in how something works and so hands–on
activites are very important to their learning. I explained that they could use information to construct very concrete representations of what they are
learning such as charts, models, or diagrams. In addition, I explained how sometimes body movements or choreographed movements could help in
remembering information. I gave the example of using Dr. Rich Allen's series of hand motions to memorize up to twenty facts. In addition, I
explained how I use manipulatives in my classroom to aid instructional practices. I also said that actually doing a task is usually their best learning
process. Instead of reading about a task or watching it done, it is important for their own learning style that they involve themselves in a task as much
as possible. I explained project–based assessments, and concluded that these types of assessments would best be suited to their learning styles. One of
the participants said that she has to transfer her teacher's words into their own learning aids. When her teacher gives an assignment or lesson, she
makes her own style of notecards and uses these notecards to study. Even when the teacher gives her a paper with the information (graphic organizer),
she still uses her method to study. It helped this student understand why doing the work over again was important. She continued to say that she

Persuasive Essay On Problem Based Learning
Has it ever been hard to try to understand what your teacher is teaching? Everyday you are taught something and it is very important how you
comprehend it, which is dependent on the teacher. Teaching has been around for as long as a person can think of but teaching has changed over the
many years. A recent type of teaching method is called Problem–Based learning. It helps teach students on understanding problems more clearer. There
are several other ways that teachers can be more effective in their teaching, more specifically in what learning style they teach, organization, and
amount of homework they give. Everyone has a different type learning style and having teachers teaching in all of the different styles can be more
effective. The different types of styles can include being a visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learner. An article on Teach Make a
Difference argues, " Identifying your students as visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learners, and aligning your overall curriculum with
these learning styles will prove to be beneficial for your entire classroom." The article is trying to prove that with knowing and trying could help
improve the effectiveness in teaching. The article goes on to say, " Allowing students to access information in terms they are comfortable with will
increase their academic confidence." When the writer adds this, It means that students will do greater on things students enjoy–individually. If teachers

Kinesthetic Learning Style Analysis
I believe that children learn best through movement and believe that the learning style that has proven to be the most effective based on assessment
results is the kinesthetic learning method or teaching style.
According to Sprenger(2002):
"Every lesson should contain movement. Take that movement and repeat if often enough and it becomes a permanent memory. Along with that
movement, the learning associated with it become permanent." Sprenger (p.17)

For example, when I recently taught a lesson on coin amounts I had my students count out 'real' money of various coins rather than the teacher directed
worksheet. They were all engaged in this activity. Then, they counted their coins and recorded the amounts on their paper. They worked in groups to
do this activity in my classroom. Another example, of course, is using various manipulatives to teach my lessons. Whether they're counting out objects
such as the mini gourds for math, or the recent Halloween boxes of various shapes, or the shaving cream to write names, numbers, letters or words, my
students are learning by doing and that's what counts. They are learning and the evidence is proving just that through teacher assessment and
observations. I also believe in using Brain Gym activities and brain breaks to help improve academic performance. They also enjoy the online
programs such as "Gonoodle" activities

Evaluation Of A Pre Kindergarten Classroom
This document is an overview of a pre–kindergarten classroom; found in the Barker school district. This class was organized to benefit all the
students who walked into the room. Exceptional learners had many options to excel in all areas. The educator had many strategies in her wheelhouse,
which benefits all students. Mrs. P is a seasoned educator and has many strategies, lesson plan, kinesthetic activities to benefit all students; which can
be implemented in a future classroom. Plans and strategies are important to have in place to have an effective classroom. Observation The observed
classroom was a pre–kindergarten class; which had one general educator (Mrs. P) and two teacher aides (Mrs. W and Mrs. T). This class also had the
use of a speech therapist, an occupational therapist (OT), physical therapist (PT), and a counselor. This class consisted of twenty–two students, 12 boys
and 10 girls. There were three students who were special needs students and two students who were gifted. The class consisted of 21 Caucasians
and one African American student. The physical classroom environment consisted of a double classroom. This is where two separate classrooms
can be made into one room by moving a wall. The left room was strictly for the educational needs of the class. This side of the classroom had four
circle tables with six chairs at each table. The front of the classroom has a dry erase board which was touching the floor. There was an ABC carpet in

Reflection Paper On Self Assessment
The results of my self assessment were pretty accurate to what I know about myself. I have strong intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. I maintain
strong relationships with others and think deeply about my life choices, goals, and ambitions. The only score that I thought would be higher was
my musical score. I can play a musical instrument and I enjoy listening to music, but I don't like to sing or play for others. Thinking back to my
childhood, I was a linguistic learner. I followed directions well, if someone modeled how to do something, I could follow it and explain it back. I
liked talking with someone personally to understand different concepts. The older I got, I was able to adapt to how my teachers' taught. I had one
teacher who loved using bodily–kinesthetic activities, I had other teachers who loved to sing and use logical–mathematical thinking. If I didn't adjust to
their styles of teaching, I wouldn't have been successful in their class. I believe learning patterns can be altered because my learning pattern was altered.
I've learned many different things from teachers who have different teaching styles. Teaching is an art and all teachers should use different teaching
styles. Having a wide variety of teachers with different teaching styles made me a well rounded learner.
I prepare students for learning by drawing on background knowledge, making students excited about our upcoming topic, and having group
discussions. For example, my 5th grade class is reading Wonder by R.J Palacio. Before we began reading, we spent time discussing kindness,
differences, bullying, watched book trailers for the upcoming movie, discussed what it means to be a good friend, and how people overcome
adversity in their life. In our current unit, we are listening to the audiobook for Wonder, we use the whiteboard to project the reciprocal teaching
template, and students lead discussions by asking and answering questions with each other. I manage the environment for learning by modeling
appropriate questions and responses. I also go over expectations for working in groups. I co–teach with a special education teacher who helps me
address the diverse needs in my classroom. She and I work together to help target students who

Managing Work Priorities And Professional Development Report

  • 1. Managing Work Priorities And Professional Development Report Project 1 1 Write a personal reflection that explains how you would go about managing your work priorities and professional development. In the personal reflection you should ask and answer these questions: This project will attempt to highlight the actions I would undertake in specific areas of managing work priorities and professional development. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important for a manager to set work goals and plan work effectively, especially because these must reflect that of the organizations. To ensure work goals and plans are created accordingly I must have insight into the organizations long–term vision strategy as well as my own role and responsibilities within the organization. Organizations also set strategic and operational plans therefore as a manager I would need to examine and keep up–to–date with these to ensure my goals and plans are inline with the organizations. Referring to the organizations long–term vision strategy, plus their strategic and operational plans when goal setting, will ensure I create accurate goals, plan work effectively and produce results when carrying out work activities. 4. How would I ensure that I meet my job responsibilities? Working within a team environment means working interdependently, therefore, my ability to get my job done is dependent on others and others depend on me to get their work done; as each independent role contributes to the overall function of the organization. So, working effectively in a team environment to meet responsibilities requires communication, flexibility and meeting deadlines. To ensure I meet my job responsibilities I can regularly review my job description to identify whether my goals remain inline with my job responsibilities; these can change over the course of employment. • 2. Is It Sheer Genius? Hi, Craig! Throughout this semester, I've found most, if not everything, you've submitted for both Professor Foreman's consideration and our enjoyment quite impressive. More than once I have found myself using your work as a benchmark, comparing it against my own to see in what areas my strengths lay and where there's room for improvement. It needn't get said, but I'll just go ahead and say it: this culminates all the spurts of brilliance you've shown throughout this class and combines them into one neat and enthralling package. The idea of having students "[create] opening scenes for a script that includes [scene] heading, [description] of [scene] and [action], [protagonist introductions and transitions] from Ordinary World to Call to Adventure" is sheer genius in my book. Last year, I took a Screenwriting Fundamentals class here at Southern New Hampshire University and had an incredible time, but the syllabus didn't include The Writer's Journey in any way/shape/form, nor did any of the students bring it up during the many discussion board roundtables we had. Having had quality time here and there over the last few weeks to make a concerted effort at accounting for everything Vogler mentions in the book, it seems as though whoever came up with the class's curriculum missed out on a major–league opportunity. It's my sincere hope that later versions of the class will find ways to include the 'writer's journey' concept–the same way its author was on to something when he came ... • 3. Personal Reflection Of Learning : My Personal Learning Style From the standpoint of what is my learning style, I am definitely a tactile learner. For me to gain my greatest ability to learn, I must use my hands to physically work through something. This process allows me to build relationships between the content that I'm being taught and the outcomes that I need to reach. The biggest challenge that I have experienced with my own learning is my struggle with my reading skills. This challenge was not something that I met head on. Instead I found ways to work around my issues with reading. Using my kinesthetic learning style, I was able to make up for my poor reading ability. I have found that being able to apply something to what I am reading allows me to form relationships and gain a better understanding of the subject matter I am trying to learn. I feel success in my learning comes from being able to build an understanding of what I've learned so I can apply it, or show relationship to how a given topic is important to myself or my students lives. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Saginaw Valley State University with a double major in history and specialeducation, with an Emotional Impairment endorsement. I have currently started my 6th year as an educator. I spent the first three years of my career teaching at Rogers City High School where I co–taught in various math and English classes, with four different teachers. • 4. VARK Questionnaire : The Characteristics Of Learning Style Knowing one's learning style has been influential in aiding students in the classroom learn more adequately (Prithishkumar & Michael, 2014). Research gathered in the classroom has shown a greater motivation and performance level of students who are taught using their preferred learning style (Sternberg, 1990). There are four primary learning styles: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. Visual learners think by observing pictures, diagrams, and handouts. Auditory learners prefer to listen and interpret rather than take notes. Readers and writers prefer to make lists and take notes in different kinds of formats, whether it is online or in print. Kinesthetic learners learn by manipulating objects and continuously repeating physical activities to learn a skill (Leite, Svinicki & Shi, 2009). What is your learning style? If you are not sure which style fits best, The VARK Questionnaire will help determine which learning style fits you. The VARK Questionnaire was designed in the late 1980s by teacher and learner, Neil Fleming, and has been validated by Dr. Walter Leite from the Research and Evaluation Methodology program at the University of Florida. Fleming was puzzled after observing admirable teachers who did not grasp certain learners, and terrible teachers who did. After moving to Lincoln University while working in staff development, he decided to try and solve the puzzle. While trying to find answers, Fleming found that taking notice of learning styles ... • 5. Procedural Lessons: Children and Mathematics Mathematics has become a very large part of society today. From the moment children learn the basic principles of math to the day those children become working members of society, everyone has used mathematics at one point in their life. The crucial time for learning mathematics is during the childhood years when the concepts and principles of mathematics can be processed more easily. However, this time in life is also when the point in a person's life where information has to be broken down to the very basics, as children don't have an advanced capacity to understand as adults do. Mathematics, an essential subject, must be taught in such a way that children can understand and remember. All children learn differently and teachers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three methods are collectively known as the VAK model, which stands for visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Each is different from one another and most people learn best when taught through a combination of these methods. The first method, visual, involves the use of visual representation of knowledge to understand concepts. Visual learners learn best through charts, diagrams, videos, handouts, and reading the body language and facial expressions of the teacher. A visual learner will also benefit from note–taking, highlighting certain areas and reviewing every so often. For example, a visual learner will learn best when they see the teacher using blocks to explain the problem three times five. Watching the teacher place three stacks with five blocks and counting the total blocks will let the visual learner understand why three times five is fifteen. The student would then write notes on this concept, drawing a picture of the three stacks of five blocks to refer back to later. Auditory learners, on the other hand, learn best through lectures, listening to the teacher explain the concept and following a set of instructions. Auditory learners learn best in a classroom environment, allowing for classroom debate upon a topic. This debate allows for multiple different approaches to a concept to be put forth until the one the learner prefers is found. An auditory learner would learn best from hearing the concept and then going over it again out loud to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Kinesthetic Learning Style Analysis Gneeve Thomas November 3, 2015 The learning style that I identified with is kinesthetic. Kinesthetic is learning by being hands on, replacing pencil and paper with an object. Their focus is short unless they are using their hands, but this type of learners learn and remember better when they are allowed to move. People with this learning style has good eye–hand coordination, I was always told by my volleyball coaches I have good eye–hand coordination. When I'm in the class room just sitting there I tone out and think about something else, but when I went to a vocational school I was focused when the teacher was talking. I'm rarely fidgety, but I tap my pencil or shake my leg. Kinesthetic learners are uncomfortable in the classroom, where there is no hands–on learning. I second guess myself and think that my answer is wrong so I'm shy and don't want to look stupid in front of the class, that's why I don't answer questions in class. When I was in a school with hands–on learning, I was in a medical lab where I answered the questions right and felt comfortable to answer them. I did know I'm a kinesthetic learner. When I was in second grade they noticed I have ADD and my school ran some test on me and they told my mom I'm a hands on kind of learner. Then in fourth grade my English class did an assignment to see what learning style we are. • 7. Child Literacy Research Paper The Effects of Teaching Methods on Child Literacy Teaching children how to read is the most influential part of a child's education. The base of any child's education relies on the ability to read and write. Many children all over America will grow older without having a proper education. In result of this, many jobs are unreachable to America's population that can not do daily basic educational activities. Teaching methods have an immense impact on childliteracy. Literacy in the United States during 1947 was at an all time low. Only about 2.7 percent of Americans knew how to read or write. Nicknamed the "illiterates" during WWII, soldiers were given special training. Once I read the different learning styles and took the Learning Styles Characteristics Quiz, I learned that I am a Tactical/Kinesthetic learner. Tactical/Kinesthetic learners learn through touch, movement and space, get restless during long lectures, tend to collect things, enjoy feeling, discovery and action, like to move around, enjoy working with tools, and learn the best through hands–on approach. Some of the learning strategies for this learning style are, sitting in a comfortable chair, study while listening to music, squeezing a stress ball instead of fidgeting, color grounding, try to hear words in their head, and when learning new information, makes flash cards to help process the information. Tactical/Kinesthetic learner's strengths are that they enjoy using tools or lesions that involve active participation, have good memory, and have good motor communication. • 11. Relationship Between The Student 's Success And Learning... In my research I chose four students in my math class at the Levine campus at CPCC. I decided to study the relationship between the student's success and learning style. In a recent video I seeing, it states that there are different way student's learn. Three learning styles are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The students I chose to study are four students and each are from different background, but same gender. Based on grades and class participation I decided to evaluate them and see how these strategies take effect on each one. All female students were sitting in different locations of the classroom. Each student walks in class and sits with their friends to socialize. Most of them sit and discussed previous class lectures or asked other peers for help. The one's I chose to evaluate would come in class just a few minutes before class began. I studied their routine and the way that they paid attention to the lecture and how many are successful in class. The first student, S1, walks in class before the other three students. She sits in front of the class to the side, takes out her laptop, snack, notebook, calculator, and pencil pouch. During lecture she would be working on other class assignments and writing on her notebook. I noticed that when she heard the instructor go over a particular topic she would take out her second notebook and take notes. • 12. Essay On Importance Of Dance In Education For most elementary age students around the country the core subjects such as science, math, and reading are separated from the arts. However, schools across the country are slowly combining the arts with the other subjects and are finding success. Dance is one form of art that would have multiple benefits for students. Dance and physical movement should be incorporated into elementary education because it improves students' attention and interest in learning, improves learning in core subjects, and promotes a healthy lifestyle in students. The first reason why teachers should integrate dance into education is that dance increases students' attention and reaches students of different learning types. One study was done to determine whether lessons that incorporate movement were effective at generating student's situational interest. They compared the outcomes of movement and non movement lessons in second and third grade reading and math classes. The teachers provided one week of lessons that included movement and one week of lessons that did not. Students were asked to use their bodies to illustrate specific concepts they were taught. At the end of the study, the teachers rated students' interest levels, and they found that students were more excited by and engaged in the lessons that integrated movement than those that did not. Surprisingly, they also found that the dancing did not hinder the amount of content learned during the lesson (Lindt and Miller). Dance could be a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. My Learning Styles Are Kinesthetic And Visual Essay Name: Ngan Thu Bui Frame Of Reference Analysis Paper #1 1.My learning styles are kinesthetic and visual. When I learn to do something, I always skip the instruction, tending to jump right in and try it. In terms of Mutual Intelligence, I scored 3.57 in Nature, 3.43 in Self, and 3.14 Musical. The MI score nearly mirrors who I am, except the language and kinesthetic scores. It's true that I'm not good at math and logical problems, but I do enjoy new languages. I'm bilingual now and I want to be a trilingual in the future. Therefore, I believe that my score in linguistic and kinesthetic should be higher. There are some statements in the Assessment results which I find accurate about me. For instance, "Take photographs of what you find on your hike", "You like working on projects on your own", and "You enjoy humming or singing along with music." My Keirsey Score is INFP which means my learning score is NF. I'm not the type of person who logically plans to do everything. I prefer to be led by feelings. It's also true that I'm an introvert when I'm around people who I don't feel comfortable with. Actually, I change into another person when I'm with my family and friends. It's interesting that my boyfriend shares totally different traits in his Keirsey Score; he's an ISTJ. While I focus on creativity and don't follow the plan, he tends to plan everything in advance. • 14. A Healthy And Strong Toolbox Of Coping Strategies Essay Another main goal would be to develop a healthy and strong toolbox of coping strategies for when I am finding myself in times of irrational thinking, depression, or any other pattern of thinking or behavior that prevents me from living life to the fullest. I think this goal would take precedence in the counseling sessions and eventually works it's way into homework from the counselor. CBT does focus on trying to change behavior, so changing my behavior associated with different moments in my life would be useful. I do find that when I start to spiral in these behaviors an thoughts, I think to myself that I am not doing an good like this and that I need to figure out some way to deal with what I am feeling or thinking. CBT would give me the tools and strategies to be able to do just that. In turn, having coping mechanisms for when I am impatient or stressed would help me maintain a more relaxed and fulfilled life. Techniques. I learn best by having tangible and concrete experiences to use as examples. Therefore, I think that the techniques associated with CBT would be quite impactful because a majority of them are centered around psychoeducation and kinesthetic interventions. A very uncomfortable yet useful technique would be Stress Inoculation Training in which I would be exposed to dealing with mild stress and once finding success with that then working my way up to becoming successful in dealing with more moderate levels of stress. (Marcy, 2001) In 1987 Dr. Neil D. Fleming, an educator of more than 40 years created VARK, an acronym for visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic preference modalities. In Fleming's model, learners are identified by whether they have a preference for visual learning (pictures, movies, diagrams), Aural (auditory) learning (music, discussion, lectures), reading and writing (making lists, reading textbooks, taking notes), or kinesthetic learning (movement, experiments, hands–on activities). The highest score is equal between read/write and kinesthetic followed by aural and visual. This makes the writer bimodal. According to the VARK analysis this writer will need written instruction such as note taking, textbooks, and written instructions as well as hands–on demonstrations. Diagrams and lectures would not be very beneficial to this writer unless the information could be turned into words or motion. Preferred Learning Styles With read/write this writer would need to take in the information by lists, textbooks, and notes (usually verbatim). Repetition is very beneficial to this type of learner such as writing words repeatedly or rereading notes. To do well on a test or assignment this type of learner should write exam answers and practice with multiple choice questions. For the kinesthetic learner, information should be taken in by all senses– sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. Taking into consideration her activity level, need for routine, and bipolar disorder I would think that hands on learning would be the best for Elizabeth. The Kinesthetic learning style approach will allow Elizabeth to work hands on and be an active learner. The teacher should be flexible when teaching Elizabeth, as her bipolar disorder might cause small outbreaks during class. Teachers should have a consent schedule to help Elizabeth smooth into a routine. This strategy might work best for Elizabeth because of her ability to be in control of situations. Something that might be difficult for Elizabeth is the aspect of group work, her group mates might not understand why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Kinesthetic Learning A diverse amount of studies have been conducted in finding the best ways for a child to learn such as learning from peers, or scaffolding techniques. The numerous ways a child can learn offers that children have different preferences when it comes to what method of instruction is most adequate for them (Pashler, 2008). Pashler (2008) suggests that some children are simply visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners, which infers that the use of senses plays a major role in the way a child learns. Stein and Steele (1976) suggest that some children are reflective or impulsive learners, which distinguishes the difference between thinking and not thinking before making an action. This means that whenever a visual learner is presented with new information, it intertwines with his or her own natural habits or tendencies (Pashler, 2008). There is a possibility that visual learners can also correlate best with verbal learning and that verbal learners can correlate best with visual learners without the meshing hypothesis (Pashler, 2008). Auditory learners must have information read to them or voiced to them in order for them to learn new material. For example, a student that can sit in class without taking notes and only listens could store up to 75 percent the new material (Pashler, 2008). A kinesthetic learner learns by using their hands and physically working with ideas. Understanding your learning style Kinesthetic learners are the type of learners that are into hands on activities and learn best while moving and doing things while being taught. Many people all have different types of learning styles and I can say as a kinesthetic learner it can sometimes be difficult or rewarding to know the way you learn. When I took four different learning tests I found out that I am the type of learner that can learn in four different ways, and in all honesty I was quite surprised, so I had to do some research on the type of learning and find the one that fits me best. Perhaps the off–line interaction between the learner and others in social or familial settings can supplant his need for discussion. In that way the learner can strike a balance between the diminished capacity for direct auditory learning in an online environment. This allows for a quasi–discussion format in which the verbal learner can express problems and develop solutions in his own mind. To practice this teaching process, we conducted two interviews with a 19–year–old female currently in the early adulthood stage. Ghorbani, Soleimani, Zeinali and Davaji (2014) state that patient education has been shown to reduced anxiety of patients and improve the satisfaction of health care. Client education is also said to improve the quality of life, helps to reduce illness complications, maximize independence and ensures that continuity of care is present (Bastable, 2014). Although within the health care system things preventing or decreasing the effectiveness of patient education may include nurses not have the knowledge of what to teach or how to teach it and lack of time and resources (Ghorbani et al., 2014). While there is some science to support the claim, it hasn't yet changed the fact that most of the people we know have televisions. So why is that? The fact of the matter is that so many people have televisions because there is nothing inherently harmful about them. They don't have arms and legs. They aren't sentient. They can't get up, grab you, and force you to watch them all day. As human beings, we have free will, and it is not an electronic's fault if we do not have the restraint and self–control necessary to correctly use its technology. When used responsibly, televisions have the potential to benefit us through education and entertainment, and they should not be blamed for our shortcomings. Technology In The Classroom Argumentative Essay Page 2 of 11 ZOOM RUNNING HEAD: FINAL ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPERIFinal Argumentative Research Paper Griselda Avila Glendale Community College FINAL ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPERIITechnology in The Classroom With technology rapidly advancing in a brief period of time, elementary school students should have the opportunity to use technology in their classrooms. The main issue with technology in schools is that there is not enough technology being integrated into the classrooms. Technology may be expensive, but it can help students in the long run and it can also help the environment. These are the issues that most people gravitate to argue about on either side. However, this issue does have a potential solution that can help our schools financially and save our environment. One of the reasons why schools should make the switch to use technology in the classrooms is because, textbooks become heavier over the span of a student's life. The one thing every child dreads the most about going to school, is having to lug around their huge backpack full of textbooks and homework. The Archives of Disease in Childhood conducted a study and found that an ordinary student's backpack weighs 15.4 pounds, which is a generally three to four textbooks (ProCon, 2016). The common weight for a single tablet is .75 pounds to two pounds. Pediatricians have strongly recommended students to not haul more than 15 percent of their body weight in a backpack (ProCon, 2016). From 1994 to 2000, data from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported more than 23,000 students, from the ages of six to eighteen years old were sent to emergency rooms for back injuries that were related to using a backpack (ProCon, 2016). Some of the injuries were contusions, fractures, strains and sprains to the back and shoulders. Tons of people suffer from back issues like scoliosis, this is a problem in schools because students are putting more strain on their back. Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine and idiopathic scoliosis is common in children from the age of at least 10 years old FINAL ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPERIII(Nordqvist, 2017). I'm bilingual now and I want to be a trilingual. Therefore, I believe that my score in linguistic and kinesthetic should be higher. There are some statements in the Assessment results which I find so true about myself. For example, "Take photographs of what you find on your hike", "You like working on projects on your own", and "You enjoy humming or singing along with music." In addition to an honors track, Strath Haven offers many Advanced Placement courses and allows students to take classes at nearby Swarthmore College. In high school, I probably would have been described as a "well–rounded student": I was an AP/honors student, took a class at Swarthmore, competed as a three–season athlete, and presided over the book club. As I will discuss later in my profile, I struggled a lot with time management skills, a problem I would say has worsened since I started university. For the most part, though, my teachers naturally catered to my learning needs. However, while I was still there, Strath Haven used the "Integrated Math Program," which purports to foster creative and critical thinking because it "calls on students to experiment with examples, look for and articulate patterns, and make, test, and prove conjectures" (IMP website). Instead, IMP made me feel lost, and I yearned for the example–based approach used by my middle school teachers. The Kinesthetic Learners That When Learning Information I explained to the kinesthetic learners that when learning information, they usually are most interested in how something works and so hands–on activites are very important to their learning. I explained that they could use information to construct very concrete representations of what they are learning such as charts, models, or diagrams. In addition, I explained how sometimes body movements or choreographed movements could help in remembering information. I gave the example of using Dr. Rich Allen's series of hand motions to memorize up to twenty facts. In addition, I explained how I use manipulatives in my classroom to aid instructional practices. I also said that actually doing a task is usually their best learning process. Instead of reading about a task or watching it done, it is important for their own learning style that they involve themselves in a task as much as possible. I explained project–based assessments, and concluded that these types of assessments would best be suited to their learning styles. One of the participants said that she has to transfer her teacher's words into their own learning aids. When her teacher gives an assignment or lesson, she makes her own style of notecards and uses these notecards to study. It helps teach students on understanding problems more clearer. There are several other ways that teachers can be more effective in their teaching, more specifically in what learning style they teach, organization, and amount of homework they give. Everyone has a different type learning style and having teachers teaching in all of the different styles can be more effective. The different types of styles can include being a visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learner. I maintain strong relationships with others and think deeply about my life choices, goals, and ambitions. The only score that I thought would be higher was my musical score. I can play a musical instrument and I enjoy listening to music, but I don't like to sing or play for others. Thinking back to my childhood, I was a linguistic learner. I followed directions well, if someone modeled how to do something, I could follow it and explain it back. I liked talking with someone personally to understand different concepts. The older I got, I was able to adapt to how my teachers' taught. I had one teacher who loved using bodily–kinesthetic activities, I had other teachers who loved to sing and use logical–mathematical thinking. If I didn't adjust to their styles of teaching, I wouldn't have been successful in their class. I believe learning patterns can be altered because my learning pattern was altered. I've learned many different things from teachers who have different teaching styles. Teaching is an art and all teachers should use different teaching styles. Having a wide variety of teachers with different teaching styles made me a well rounded learner. In our current unit, we are listening to the audiobook for Wonder, we use the whiteboard to project the reciprocal teaching template, and students lead discussions by asking and answering questions with each other.
