Slavery and Sex Trafficking Essay
When we hear the word slavery our mind paints a picture of colonial America down in the South
with big plantation houses harvesting wheat, with workers being unpaid and unfairly treated. At
this time in our county we were struggling with the idea of equality for all. America has come a
long way from those days but not with out a fight. Abraham Lincoln, the Civil Rights moment and
free and public education has been addressed. Today, we face a new conflicts and a different type of
slavery. Slavery and sex trafficking is occurring not just abroad but at home as well. In 2004,
"800,000 to 9000,000 men women and children are trafficked across international borders every
year, including 18,000 to 20,000 in the US. Worldwide slavery is in the...show more content...
Prostitution is describing the selling of sex that does not need consent or coercion. Trafficking
covers coercion and forced labor as well as slavery. (P. 502) The main difference is that same
women choose to go into prostitution on economic grounds and tracking is done through force.
When someone wants to participate in something, even if its concerned bad, unhealthy or unsafe
its harder to protect them for the dangers. Millions of women have made the discussion to sell sex
bassed on economic grounds. Some women making UK100 a night selling sex isn't going to
want to sweep floors or kit sweaters for half the price and more hard labor. (p. 502) Women can
make much better money and better their economic status by being a prostitute. Here in the US
we see selling sex as a moral issue that needs to stop. This brings up another issue, that women
here are battling between moral ideology and the reality of the situation. Women in other counties
don't have the same values, beliefs or rights that we have here. For most of us its seems unreal
that women and young girls would sell there body like that but to them it's a way to better there
situation and their life. Women also have a different mind set about what they are doing. They see
themselves as sex workers, its job and that's all it is. (p. 502) Kate Butcher believes that getting ride
of sex trafficking isn't going to help and its isn't a realistic goal. What

Nothing drives emotions out the window more than hearing about innocent children being used for
sex. In Cambodia, sex trafficking has grown into a troublesome issue. Sex trafficking has become
one of the fastest growing crimes occurring internationally. It is the third largest crime–business in
the world, after drugs and arms trafficking. Women, girls, and even men and boys are victims of the
billion–dollar sex trafficking industry. Sex trafficking occurs everywhere, and it is not culturally
specific, but a gender specific issue. There are numerous cases of sex trafficking within Cambodia,
however child sex trafficking is extremely captivating and distressing to learn about. Poverty is the
root of sex trafficking. Families burdened with poverty...show more content...
Imagine knowing that your parents set you up to be raped, just so they can make money. This
violence leads to depression and even suicide, making the children feel extremely weak and empty.
Weak law enforcement and poverty has driven sexslavery out of hand. A solution to end this
violence begins with people who raise awareness. To raise awareness, it is important to meet with
the federal and local government to inform them on the issues and convince them to combat sex
trafficking. Come up with different fundraisers for battered victims, host awareness events so people
become familiar with the issue, and eventually the victims can become educated and well equipped
with the proper care they need. Consider working with different organizations that help women who
have fallen victims of prostitution, pornography, trafficking and other forms of sexual violence.
Work with a religious community that can help raise money for families in poverty. This can
decrease the amount of women and children traded for sex. Internationally, we need to become more
familiar with, knowledgeable of, and aggressive to end this suffering of dehumanization and
advertise what the poor victims have to face on a daily

The Issue Of Sex Trafficking Essay
According to the UNICEF, human trafficking is when people are being kidnapped and being sold
to other people for business. It is defined as a new system of slavery. "This by means happens with
the threat or use of force" or other forms of pressure, of abduction, "fraud, and deception". Human
trafficking is one of the biggest social issue happening around the world. It involves three most
common types of human trafficking which are sex trafficking, forced labour, and debt slavery. This
essay is going to focus on sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is very common and it happens all over the
world. This essay will be aiming at the issue of sex trafficking in the united states. It will be
describing who is most affected in this, why it is an issue and also how psychologists see this essay
as a point of view. It will be also focusing on how this issue has been conceptualised and why people
do sex trafficking.
This essay also focuses on the issues of child – sex trafficking. The study claimed that trafficking
women especially children for sexual slavery is one the fastest growing common criminal and a
social issue in the world. The study states that in the united states, almost 6 in 10 identified
trafficking survivors were trafficked for sexual abuse. Out of that figure, 98% of the victims are
female and 70% of it are children. This because the number of victims of sex trafficking is children,
this may go as young as the age of eight. This is because children are easy targets when

Sex Trafficking And Human Trafficking Essay
Human trafficking brings in billions of dollars into the U.S and all around the world. "The prime
motive for such outrageous abuse is simple: money. In this $12 billion global business just one
woman trafficked into the industrialized world can net her captors an average $67,000 a year"
(Baird 2007). The laws around human trafficking are not strict and vary depending on what country it
is happening in. Human trafficking is not something that is strictly foreign, it is happening right in
front of our faces, in our neighborhoods, and all around us.
Many people have their own definitions of sex trafficking and human trafficking. A lot of people in
the U.S believe that all prostitution is voluntary when that is not the case. As Lerum and Brents
stated, "Human trafficking is defined by the U.S. State Department of State as labor induced by
force, fraud, or coercion. The definition of trafficking in the sex industry (but not other industries)
includes additional stipulations for individuals under 18: "When a child (under 18 years of age) is
recruited, enticed, harbored, transported, provided, obtained, or maintained to perform a
commercial sex act, proving force, fraud, or coercion is not necessary for the offense to be
characterized as human trafficking" (U.S. Dept. of State 2014, p. 29)." In addition, reliable data
when it comes to human trafficking is hard to achieve when definitions of the word are always
changing. Most of the criminal justice

Sex Trafficking The intentions of this research paper is quite clear, the intention being that of
someone who wants to bring to light the reality of this horrendous crime. The crime being
discussed is known as Sex Trafficking. Sex Trafficking by definition means the illegal business of
providing a person especially a minor for the purpose of sexual services (Merriam–Webster Law)
Sex Trafficking is the third largest criminal organization in the world, coming after drugs and
weapons (Klobuchar 2016) No matter where you live the chances of it occurring right this very
second, is extremely high. Over 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked around the world over the

To them this is their normal. Most traffickers have been sexually abused and if not abused, they
have suppressed forbidden sexual fantasies that are deemed wrong to the public eye for so long
they finally snap. It is believed that sex traffickers have the same mind of a psychopath, which is
why studies have shown that there are such things as a Sexual Psychopath. These people are
believed to be great manipulators by showing love and affection they know with time they will
seduce you. This is to say they are very cunning and they plan out a very calculated game. You
see, the only thing sex traffickers care about is money and power. Nothing more than that (Gibert
& Meyers, Psy.D. 2014) Sex Traffickers and serial killers have one thing in common and that is
they are like drug addicts. When they withdraw they come back worse than before. Just look at Ted
Bundy. (The Link Between Serial Killers and Addicts. The Fix, 2014) There are seven ways these
psychopaths manipulate each victim. Traffickers find it easier to ensnare naive and vulnerable
women, it's literally as easy as stealing candy from a baby. Mental abuse is worse than physical
abuse because one, it doesn't attract attention and two because many people don't stand up and say
anything. It's a prison cell inside our minds. Some of the tactics used on victims are: dehumanization.
They are constantly told that they are worthless, unlovable, and disgusting. Eventually they believe

A child is the epitome of the word innocent as well as a symbol of purity. Every child deserves to
have a painless, happy childhood along with the sincerest form of care. Sadly, this is not the case
for many children in the United States. The innocence of children (specifically females) is being
exploited to the fullest extent by criminals that participate in human sex trafficking, a tragic
occurrence that is on the rise in this country. This crime can be described as modern day slavery, an
atrocity that many people are blind to. In order to raise awareness and inform the public of this
corruption of innocence, it is necessary to identify the issue, explore methods of fixing it, and create
forms of rehabilitation for the victims.

According to Aguilar–Millan, "behind drugs and guns, human trafficking is the third largest illicit
global trade and reportedly the fastest growing" (Aguilar–Millan, 2008). Because of its accelerated
growth rate, hubs and hot spots are continuing to pop up all over the country. The main victims of
trafficking are immigrants and due to this fact, the crime thrives in the states with large
immigrant populations such as Florida, Texas, New York, and California. "More than 90% of all
forced labor occurs in five major areas of the U.S. economy: (a) the prostitution and sex sector
(46%), (b) the domestic service professions (27%), (c) agricultural professions (10%), (d)

major areas, traffickers commonly use force, fraud, and coercion to exploit their victims (Free the

This nation was once a disaster, this place was where traffickers sold children out on the streets and
where foreigners bribed unaware street kids into trafficking. Basically, it was once a gigantic
trafficking mess, but the reformation of the nation made it seem unbelievable, it's now a nation
where there is barely any trafficking. Almost everyone in Cambodia contributed to the effort to
reform the nation, and now there are even harsh laws against traffickers. The nation also went a step
further and designated anti–trafficking police to ensure safety. So, wherever you look in Cambodia
there are no children being sold or victims being bought in the red light districts. As you can see, if
nations all strive to make a difference we can change the continuous cycle of human sex trafficking.
Human trafficking is everywhere and whatever we do, it won't go away, but we can help to change
it. We can do whatever is possible, like giving support to freed victims and doing our best to prevent
human sex trafficking. By realizing that human trafficking is worldwide and that the victims want
freedom, that has motivated many of us to try and help the victims of human trafficking. Would you
want to try and help the victims, maybe you won't get involved, but remember that it's everywhere

citizens, foreign nationals, women, men, children, and LGBTQ individuals. Vulnerable populations
are frequently targeted by traffickers, including runaway and homeless youth, as well as victims of
domestic violence, sexual assault, war, or social discrimination. The United States is notorious for
focusing the spotlight of human trafficking exclusively on international countries and their victims
rather than victims within borders (Laczko & Gozdziak, 2005). However, research is beginning to
show that the United States is also a mega hub for human sex trafficking. It has only been recently
that an actual estimate of youth at risk for sexual exploitation has come close to estimating U.S.
domestic trafficking. Within the United States alone, between 244,000 and 325,000 American
youth are considered at vulnerable for sexual exploitation. Since the first study in the United States
in 2001, there have been an estimated 199,000 recorded incidents occur of sexual exploitation of
minors following each concurrent year in the United States (Estes & Weiner, 2001). These figures,
however, are severely limited by their scope. Only youth who have been recorded within the United
States, specifically for sex trafficking are estimated. This does not account for the adults who have
been trafficked, the individuals who have been trafficked outside of the United States, or individuals
who have been trafficked in the United States for labor.

Sex trafficking is essentially systemic rape for profit. Force, fraud and coercion are used to control
the victim's behavior which may secure the appearance of consent to please the buyer (or john).
Behind every transaction is violence or the threat of violence (Axtell par. 4). Just a decade ago, only
a third of the countries studied by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had legislation
against human trafficking. (Darker Side, par.1) Women, children, and even men are taken from their
homes, and off of the streets and are brought into a life that is almost impossible to get out of. This
life is not one of choice, it is in most times by force. UNODC estimates that the total international

The adult services ads on the internet offer an accessible means for the commercial sexual
exploitation of children, but the truth is that the demand for sex with underage girls precedes the
technology. Closing down such avenues may temporarily interfere with business, yet the industry of
selling children for sex continues as long as there are buyers. (Axtell, pg.2) According to the U.S.
Department of Justice, human trafficking is the second fastest growing criminal industry– just
behind drug trafficking. Approximately half of all victims are children. (Axtell, par.2) The buyers
have it made so easy when they can just go online and purchase their girl of choice. The internet
has black market pages for buying humans, but most are only open for a certain number of hours
then deleted completely. Websites such as Backpage and Craigslist are monitored but not all are
captured. Backpage accounts for about 70 percent of America's prostitution ads (many placed by
consenting adults who are not trafficked), according to the AIM Group, a trade organization.
Backpage cooperates with police to screen out ads for underage girls. (Times, par. 9) With all of
these portals being available it makes capturing some of the sick people out there buying their own
kind close to impossible. Craigslist used to have an erotic section but it was removed from the page
after the infamous "craigslist killer" case. However, there is a personal section

Human trafficking, more specifically sexual trafficking has existed for centuries luring victims in
traps in which they cannot get out. However, what happens when they chose to enter the industry?
What happens when women build emotional and psychological connections with the people that are
trapping them in the industry? Does the answer to this change when a victim is removed from the
sex trafficking industry, but replaced in a situation with a similar or worse lack of mobility?
Contractualism and Feminist care ethics provide no firm answer, however, the juxtaposition of such
arguments shows the flaws in each solution.

During the second world war, the Japanese government began the recruitment and program of

sexual sacrifice to protect the purity of other Japanese women and their race. The conditions that
these women lived and worked in were horrendous and they were often abused if they rebelled or

Consequently, the spread of sexually transmitted disease was rapid throughout these "comfort

Argumentative Essay On Human Trafficking
Human trafficking has received increasing global attention over the past decade. Trafficking of
women and girls for forced sex work and, to a lesser extent, domestic servitude, were the sole focus
of advocacy and assistance. There is recognition in today's society that women, children, and men are
trafficked into many different forms of labour, and for sexual exploitation. In her article,
"Understanding and Addressing Violence Against Women", Cathy Zimmerman and Heidi Stockl
focus on the commonality of human trafficking and how evident it is in everyday life. They bring in
the health effects and possible solutions to human trafficking to help validate their opinion and
argument. In the solutions they offer, Zimmerman and Stockl shine a light on policy–makers
/decision–makers, health–care providers, and researchers/funders and what each of these groups of
people can do to help combat the issue of human trafficking. In a quote from their article, Stockl
and Zimmerman say: "Health care providers and organizations involved with trafficked persons
should increase their capacity to identify and refer people in trafficking situations and provide
sensitive and safe services to people post–trafficking". This quote shows how Zimmerman and
Stockl believe human trafficking should be combated by caring and talking to those affected by
the issue but how they also believe awareness should be made about human trafficking so as to
allow people surrounding the issue to identify and help victims of this issue. Zimmerman and
Stockl's view on the ways human trafficking should be combatted relate to those of Soroptimist
due to the fact that the two groups of people are focused mainly on helping women and girls who
have been trafficked and trying to get them to a better life after getting out of the trafficking
situation. Both groups focus on helping men as well, providing options to help them such as
raising money and awareness, and getting educated on being able to identify victims of human
trafficking. Stemming from a TED Talk by truck driver John McKown, there are many solutions
provided in his speech regarding what can be done to help prevent sex trafficking in women and

Sex trafficking is becoming more of a problem as time moves on. Sex trafficking is the
recruitment, harbouring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of
a commercial sex act, in which the commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion
[Internet Safety 101]. Sex trafficking is increasing due to the evolution of modern day social

[Internet Safety 101]. Increasingly, sex trafficking is coming about due to the evolution of the
internet and the improved ability of GPS tracking. On social media, many people find other
people and try to be their friend, even if they don't know who they are. This provides
opportunities for fake people to create more of a problem. The internet is providing different
advertising places that can increase the effect of sex trafficking and lure in citizens to becoming

pride and dignity. Sex trafficking is becoming a much bigger problem due to the internet and the
ability to capitalize GPS tracking. A GPS is a program that can direct you to a certain address, or
can help you track towards anyone in a location. Different objects are improving and being invented

Sex Trafficking Reflection
During the film, I was able to hear the victims' account of what happened to them as the portrayed
their encounter with sex trafficking as well as their families experience. The youth remained
anonyms for their own protection but, consisted of young girls in their early to middle teens. The
girls were unanimous in their explanation as to why they would participate in the documentary,
where they would be at risk of unmasking their identity. They didn't want any other children to be
sexually exploited, and have to live through the suffering that they have and continue to undergo.
The consistent theme heard in the girls' and their families' stories was that their lives are forever
changed. Before being trafficked, the girls were described as bright, vibrant, happy young ladies
and after they are portrayed as broken, angry, and isolated. A representation that their innocence
was lost. It was very heartbreaking to hear the trauma the youth underwent, as they described
physical abuse and the use of drugs to control them. They were sold for sex up to 20 times a day
without any choice but to comply. The mothers described how they felt when they first saw their
children on the web page Backpage.com for sale. It was devastating. I couldn't even image having to
see my children in that type imagery being sold for sex. Once their babies returned home it was an
adjustment. They blamed themselves as parents for letting this happen to their children. The youth
also blamed themselves, they

In America, today everyone tries to look at life with a positive outlook. Although bad things are
happening, people and even the government do not want to put full acknowledgement into it. There
are major issues going on in America that people never even knew was happening in our country
such as Sex Trafficking. Sex trafficking is a controversial issue that is never talked nor heard about
due to our country putting little work effort into helping. Sex trafficking is the alternative of slavery
in the world today making it extremely important for people to take a stand and put a stop to this
major crisis. Sex trafficking is the exploitation of women and children within national or across
international borders, for the purposes of forced sex work. Commercial sexual exploitation includes
pornography, prostitution, and sex of women and girls and is characterized by the exploitation of a
human being in exchange for goods or money. Each year an estimated 800,000 women and children
are trafficked across international borders. Some sex trafficking is highly visible, such as street
prostitution but many trafficking victims remain unseen, operating out of unmarked brothels in
unsuspecting and sometimes suburban neighborhoods. Sex traffickers may also operate out of a
variety of public and private locations, such as massage parlors, spas, and strip clubs. Adult women
make up the largest group of sex trafficking victims followed by girl children, although a small
percentage of men and

Sex Trafficking Essays

  • 1. Slavery and Sex Trafficking Essay When we hear the word slavery our mind paints a picture of colonial America down in the South with big plantation houses harvesting wheat, with workers being unpaid and unfairly treated. At this time in our county we were struggling with the idea of equality for all. America has come a long way from those days but not with out a fight. Abraham Lincoln, the Civil Rights moment and free and public education has been addressed. Today, we face a new conflicts and a different type of slavery. Slavery and sex trafficking is occurring not just abroad but at home as well. In 2004, "800,000 to 9000,000 men women and children are trafficked across international borders every year, including 18,000 to 20,000 in the US. Worldwide slavery is in the...show more content... Prostitution is describing the selling of sex that does not need consent or coercion. Trafficking covers coercion and forced labor as well as slavery. (P. 502) The main difference is that same women choose to go into prostitution on economic grounds and tracking is done through force. When someone wants to participate in something, even if its concerned bad, unhealthy or unsafe its harder to protect them for the dangers. Millions of women have made the discussion to sell sex bassed on economic grounds. Some women making UK100 a night selling sex isn't going to want to sweep floors or kit sweaters for half the price and more hard labor. (p. 502) Women can make much better money and better their economic status by being a prostitute. Here in the US we see selling sex as a moral issue that needs to stop. This brings up another issue, that women here are battling between moral ideology and the reality of the situation. Women in other counties don't have the same values, beliefs or rights that we have here. For most of us its seems unreal that women and young girls would sell there body like that but to them it's a way to better there situation and their life. Women also have a different mind set about what they are doing. They see themselves as sex workers, its job and that's all it is. (p. 502) Kate Butcher believes that getting ride of sex trafficking isn't going to help and its isn't a realistic goal. What Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Sex Trafficking Research Paper Nothing drives emotions out the window more than hearing about innocent children being used for sex. In Cambodia, sex trafficking has grown into a troublesome issue. Sex trafficking has become one of the fastest growing crimes occurring internationally. It is the third largest crime–business in the world, after drugs and arms trafficking. Women, girls, and even men and boys are victims of the billion–dollar sex trafficking industry. Sex trafficking occurs everywhere, and it is not culturally specific, but a gender specific issue. There are numerous cases of sex trafficking within Cambodia, however child sex trafficking is extremely captivating and distressing to learn about. Poverty is the root of sex trafficking. Families burdened with poverty...show more content... Imagine knowing that your parents set you up to be raped, just so they can make money. This violence leads to depression and even suicide, making the children feel extremely weak and empty. Weak law enforcement and poverty has driven sexslavery out of hand. A solution to end this violence begins with people who raise awareness. To raise awareness, it is important to meet with the federal and local government to inform them on the issues and convince them to combat sex trafficking. Come up with different fundraisers for battered victims, host awareness events so people become familiar with the issue, and eventually the victims can become educated and well equipped with the proper care they need. Consider working with different organizations that help women who have fallen victims of prostitution, pornography, trafficking and other forms of sexual violence. Work with a religious community that can help raise money for families in poverty. This can decrease the amount of women and children traded for sex. Internationally, we need to become more familiar with, knowledgeable of, and aggressive to end this suffering of dehumanization and advertise what the poor victims have to face on a daily Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The Issue Of Sex Trafficking Essay According to the UNICEF, human trafficking is when people are being kidnapped and being sold to other people for business. It is defined as a new system of slavery. "This by means happens with the threat or use of force" or other forms of pressure, of abduction, "fraud, and deception". Human trafficking is one of the biggest social issue happening around the world. It involves three most common types of human trafficking which are sex trafficking, forced labour, and debt slavery. This essay is going to focus on sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is very common and it happens all over the world. This essay will be aiming at the issue of sex trafficking in the united states. It will be describing who is most affected in this, why it is an issue and also how psychologists see this essay as a point of view. It will be also focusing on how this issue has been conceptualised and why people do sex trafficking. This essay also focuses on the issues of child – sex trafficking. The study claimed that trafficking women especially children for sexual slavery is one the fastest growing common criminal and a social issue in the world. The study states that in the united states, almost 6 in 10 identified trafficking survivors were trafficked for sexual abuse. Out of that figure, 98% of the victims are female and 70% of it are children. This because the number of victims of sex trafficking is children, this may go as young as the age of eight. This is because children are easy targets when Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Sex Trafficking And Human Trafficking Essay Human trafficking brings in billions of dollars into the U.S and all around the world. "The prime motive for such outrageous abuse is simple: money. In this $12 billion global business just one woman trafficked into the industrialized world can net her captors an average $67,000 a year" (Baird 2007). The laws around human trafficking are not strict and vary depending on what country it is happening in. Human trafficking is not something that is strictly foreign, it is happening right in front of our faces, in our neighborhoods, and all around us. Many people have their own definitions of sex trafficking and human trafficking. A lot of people in the U.S believe that all prostitution is voluntary when that is not the case. As Lerum and Brents stated, "Human trafficking is defined by the U.S. State Department of State as labor induced by force, fraud, or coercion. The definition of trafficking in the sex industry (but not other industries) includes additional stipulations for individuals under 18: "When a child (under 18 years of age) is recruited, enticed, harbored, transported, provided, obtained, or maintained to perform a commercial sex act, proving force, fraud, or coercion is not necessary for the offense to be characterized as human trafficking" (U.S. Dept. of State 2014, p. 29)." In addition, reliable data when it comes to human trafficking is hard to achieve when definitions of the word are always changing. Most of the criminal justice Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Sex Trafficking Essay Sex Trafficking The intentions of this research paper is quite clear, the intention being that of someone who wants to bring to light the reality of this horrendous crime. The crime being discussed is known as Sex Trafficking. Sex Trafficking by definition means the illegal business of providing a person especially a minor for the purpose of sexual services (Merriam–Webster Law) Sex Trafficking is the third largest criminal organization in the world, coming after drugs and weapons (Klobuchar 2016) No matter where you live the chances of it occurring right this very second, is extremely high. Over 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked around the world over the course of just one year. Ninety percent of which are women and children....show more content... To them this is their normal. Most traffickers have been sexually abused and if not abused, they have suppressed forbidden sexual fantasies that are deemed wrong to the public eye for so long they finally snap. It is believed that sex traffickers have the same mind of a psychopath, which is why studies have shown that there are such things as a Sexual Psychopath. These people are believed to be great manipulators by showing love and affection they know with time they will seduce you. This is to say they are very cunning and they plan out a very calculated game. You see, the only thing sex traffickers care about is money and power. Nothing more than that (Gibert & Meyers, Psy.D. 2014) Sex Traffickers and serial killers have one thing in common and that is they are like drug addicts. When they withdraw they come back worse than before. Just look at Ted Bundy. (The Link Between Serial Killers and Addicts. The Fix, 2014) There are seven ways these psychopaths manipulate each victim. Traffickers find it easier to ensnare naive and vulnerable women, it's literally as easy as stealing candy from a baby. Mental abuse is worse than physical abuse because one, it doesn't attract attention and two because many people don't stand up and say anything. It's a prison cell inside our minds. Some of the tactics used on victims are: dehumanization. They are constantly told that they are worthless, unlovable, and disgusting. Eventually they believe their trafficker and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay On Sex Trafficking A child is the epitome of the word innocent as well as a symbol of purity. Every child deserves to have a painless, happy childhood along with the sincerest form of care. Sadly, this is not the case for many children in the United States. The innocence of children (specifically females) is being exploited to the fullest extent by criminals that participate in human sex trafficking, a tragic occurrence that is on the rise in this country. This crime can be described as modern day slavery, an atrocity that many people are blind to. In order to raise awareness and inform the public of this corruption of innocence, it is necessary to identify the issue, explore methods of fixing it, and create forms of rehabilitation for the victims. Girls are kidnapped anytime between when they are toddlers to when they're teenagers to be then sold for sex. This act of evil is (known as human trafficking) in...show more content... According to Aguilar–Millan, "behind drugs and guns, human trafficking is the third largest illicit global trade and reportedly the fastest growing" (Aguilar–Millan, 2008). Because of its accelerated growth rate, hubs and hot spots are continuing to pop up all over the country. The main victims of trafficking are immigrants and due to this fact, the crime thrives in the states with large immigrant populations such as Florida, Texas, New York, and California. "More than 90% of all forced labor occurs in five major areas of the U.S. economy: (a) the prostitution and sex sector (46%), (b) the domestic service professions (27%), (c) agricultural professions (10%), (d) sweatshop or factory settings (5%), and (e) restaurant and hotel settings (4%). Across these five major areas, traffickers commonly use force, fraud, and coercion to exploit their victims (Free the Slaves & Human Rights Center, 2004)" (Stotts Jr., 2009). • 7. Sex Trafficking Papers Human Sex Trafficking Thinking, have you ever turned blind eyes to many of the world's problems? Imagine this, standing in front of a hotel and you notice two men with a child. The child looks gloomy, and seems to be glancing around in hopes of something special to happen. With the quick exchange of money, a deal was done and the child follows their new trafficker, that's when you'll notice human trafficking. It's everywhere, and we can try to make a difference. If we can find ways to prevent human trafficking and help the victims, I'm sure things may get better. The big question that we all wonder about, how do traffickers get their victims? It's a easy to answer question, yet it's so cruel. Usually one wouldn't think about how traffickers...show more content... This nation was once a disaster, this place was where traffickers sold children out on the streets and where foreigners bribed unaware street kids into trafficking. Basically, it was once a gigantic trafficking mess, but the reformation of the nation made it seem unbelievable, it's now a nation where there is barely any trafficking. Almost everyone in Cambodia contributed to the effort to reform the nation, and now there are even harsh laws against traffickers. The nation also went a step further and designated anti–trafficking police to ensure safety. So, wherever you look in Cambodia there are no children being sold or victims being bought in the red light districts. As you can see, if nations all strive to make a difference we can change the continuous cycle of human sex trafficking. Human trafficking is everywhere and whatever we do, it won't go away, but we can help to change it. We can do whatever is possible, like giving support to freed victims and doing our best to prevent human sex trafficking. By realizing that human trafficking is worldwide and that the victims want freedom, that has motivated many of us to try and help the victims of human trafficking. Would you want to try and help the victims, maybe you won't get involved, but remember that it's everywhere you Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Introduction Human sex trafficking is one of the fastest growing and most insidious man made epidemics, coming only after the criminal industry of black market drug–trade. Vulnerable populations are frequently targeted by traffickers, including runaway and homeless youth, as well as victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, war, or social discrimination. The United States is notorious for focusing the spotlight of human trafficking exclusively on international countries and their victims rather than victims within borders (Laczko & Gozdziak, 2005). However, research is beginning to show that the United States is also a mega hub for human sex trafficking. It has only been recently that an actual estimate of youth at risk for sexual exploitation has come close to estimating U.S. domestic trafficking. Within the United States alone, between 244,000 and 325,000 American youth are considered at vulnerable for sexual exploitation. Since the first study in the United States in 2001, there have been an estimated 199,000 recorded incidents occur of sexual exploitation of minors following each concurrent year in the United States (Estes & Weiner, 2001). These figures, however, are severely limited by their scope. Only youth who have been recorded within the United States, specifically for sex trafficking are estimated. This does not account for the adults who have been trafficked, the individuals who have been trafficked outside of the United States, or individuals who have been trafficked in the United States for labor. • 10. Essay on Sex Trafficking Sex trafficking is essentially systemic rape for profit. Force, fraud and coercion are used to control the victim's behavior which may secure the appearance of consent to please the buyer (or john). Behind every transaction is violence or the threat of violence (Axtell par. 4). Just a decade ago, only a third of the countries studied by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had legislation against human trafficking. (Darker Side, par.1) Women, children, and even men are taken from their homes, and off of the streets and are brought into a life that is almost impossible to get out of. This life is not one of choice, it is in most times by force. UNODC estimates that the total international human trafficking is a...show more content... The adult services ads on the internet offer an accessible means for the commercial sexual exploitation of children, but the truth is that the demand for sex with underage girls precedes the technology. Closing down such avenues may temporarily interfere with business, yet the industry of selling children for sex continues as long as there are buyers. (Axtell, pg.2) According to the U.S. Department of Justice, human trafficking is the second fastest growing criminal industry– just behind drug trafficking. Approximately half of all victims are children. (Axtell, par.2) The buyers have it made so easy when they can just go online and purchase their girl of choice. The internet has black market pages for buying humans, but most are only open for a certain number of hours then deleted completely. Websites such as Backpage and Craigslist are monitored but not all are captured. Backpage accounts for about 70 percent of America's prostitution ads (many placed by consenting adults who are not trafficked), according to the AIM Group, a trade organization. Backpage cooperates with police to screen out ads for underage girls. (Times, par. 9) With all of these portals being available it makes capturing some of the sick people out there buying their own kind close to impossible. • 11. Research Paper On Human Sex Trafficking Human Sex Trafficking Human Trafficking is a crime not involving just hundreds or thousands of victims but millions and "Human Sex Trafficking" has been termed the most common form of "modern–day slavery" (Leary). It is an industry that is "woven into the fabric of everyday life". (Leary) The reasons for human trafficking range from forced prostitution, pornography, forced labor, organ harvesting and drug smuggling. In 2000, the U.S. Congress passed the "Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA)" (Gouty) and as defined in this act of legislation, human trafficking does not require transportation of victims from one location to another and it does not require the crossing of an international border (Gouty). • 12. Sex Trafficking Ethics Human trafficking, more specifically sexual trafficking has existed for centuries luring victims in traps in which they cannot get out. However, what happens when they chose to enter the industry? What happens when women build emotional and psychological connections with the people that are trapping them in the industry? Does the answer to this change when a victim is removed from the sex trafficking industry, but replaced in a situation with a similar or worse lack of mobility? Contractualism and Feminist care ethics provide no firm answer, however, the juxtaposition of such arguments shows the flaws in each solution. The sex trafficking industry has been around for centuries; in many areas it is considering to be a form of slavery. Slave...show more content... During the second world war, the Japanese government began the recruitment and program of "comfort women." This program consisted of thousands of Japanese women provided to American troops as sex–slaves as an idea due to combat the rape culture within the war zones. The women that were enlisted into this program were often coerced into participating and told that they were a sexual sacrifice to protect the purity of other Japanese women and their race. The conditions that these women lived and worked in were horrendous and they were often abused if they rebelled or tried to escape. There were thousands of women servicing the American troops living in legal brothels, however, these numbers are estimated to be larger due to the illegal brothels that existed. Consequently, the spread of sexually transmitted disease was rapid throughout these "comfort stations" causing many of the women to die of illness or other causes initiated by the poor working and living Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Sex is very big business and there is a tremendous amount of money that can be made. There are people that will use any means necessary to be a part of this industry. Young women and children are used as a commodity, offered a better life and then sold like property to increase the wallets of these criminals. • 14. Argumentative Essay On Human Trafficking Human trafficking has received increasing global attention over the past decade. Trafficking of women and girls for forced sex work and, to a lesser extent, domestic servitude, were the sole focus of advocacy and assistance. There is recognition in today's society that women, children, and men are trafficked into many different forms of labour, and for sexual exploitation. In her article, "Understanding and Addressing Violence Against Women", Cathy Zimmerman and Heidi Stockl focus on the commonality of human trafficking and how evident it is in everyday life. They bring in the health effects and possible solutions to human trafficking to help validate their opinion and argument. In the solutions they offer, Zimmerman and Stockl shine a light on policy–makers /decision–makers, health–care providers, and researchers/funders and what each of these groups of people can do to help combat the issue of human trafficking. In a quote from their article, Stockl and Zimmerman say: "Health care providers and organizations involved with trafficked persons should increase their capacity to identify and refer people in trafficking situations and provide sensitive and safe services to people post–trafficking". This quote shows how Zimmerman and Stockl believe human trafficking should be combated by caring and talking to those affected by the issue but how they also believe awareness should be made about human trafficking so as to allow people surrounding the issue to identify and help victims of this issue. Zimmerman and Stockl's view on the ways human trafficking should be combatted relate to those of Soroptimist due to the fact that the two groups of people are focused mainly on helping women and girls who have been trafficked and trying to get them to a better life after getting out of the trafficking situation. Both groups focus on helping men as well, providing options to help them such as raising money and awareness, and getting educated on being able to identify victims of human trafficking. Stemming from a TED Talk by truck driver John McKown, there are many solutions provided in his speech regarding what can be done to help prevent sex trafficking in women and girls in regards to truck drivers specifically. But does the average person really know the extent of the issue? Sex trafficking is a form of modern day slavery that is prominent in the United States and throughout the globe. Traffickers use violence, threats, debt bondage, and threats to coerce adults and children to engage in sexual acts with strangers against their will. The victims who are targeted for sexual exploitation all have a few characteristics in common: poverty, minority status, histories of...show more content... Secondly, girls are abused at home and decide to run away to get out of the stressful life. But when they are out on their own, there's no way to provide. So, they find "boyfriends" who are actually pimps. The younger that girl is, more money can be charged for her. Despite the enormous amounts of money a girl can make each night. "It is all handed over to their pimps, or else a beating may occur." (Meyers, Diana. "Feminism and Sex Trafficking: Rethinking some Aspects of Autonomy and Paternalism.") Which, if you think about it, is what domestic abuse victims are running away from in the first place. The last common trend I noticed was husbands selling their wives services to others. • 19. Sex Trafficking Reflection During the film, I was able to hear the victims' account of what happened to them as the portrayed their encounter with sex trafficking as well as their families experience. The youth remained anonyms for their own protection but, consisted of young girls in their early to middle teens. The girls were unanimous in their explanation as to why they would participate in the documentary, where they would be at risk of unmasking their identity. They didn't want any other children to be sexually exploited, and have to live through the suffering that they have and continue to undergo. The consistent theme heard in the girls' and their families' stories was that their lives are forever changed. Before being trafficked, the girls were described as bright, vibrant, happy young ladies and after they are portrayed as broken, angry, and isolated. A representation that their innocence was lost. It was very heartbreaking to hear the trauma the youth underwent, as they described physical abuse and the use of drugs to control them. They were sold for sex up to 20 times a day without any choice but to comply. The mothers described how they felt when they first saw their children on the web page Backpage.com for sale. It was devastating. I couldn't even image having to see my children in that type imagery being sold for sex. Once their babies returned home it was an adjustment. They blamed themselves as parents for letting this happen to their children. The youth also blamed themselves, they Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There are major issues going on in America that people never even knew was happening in our country such as Sex Trafficking. Sex trafficking is a controversial issue that is never talked nor heard about due to our country putting little work effort into helping. Sex trafficking is the alternative of slavery in the world today making it extremely important for people to take a stand and put a stop to this major crisis. Sex trafficking is the exploitation of women and children within national or across international borders, for the purposes of forced sex work. Commercial sexual exploitation includes pornography, prostitution, and sex of women and girls and is characterized by the exploitation of a human being in exchange for goods or money. Each year an estimated 800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders. Some sex trafficking is highly visible, such as street prostitution but many trafficking victims remain unseen, operating out of unmarked brothels in unsuspecting and sometimes suburban neighborhoods. Sex traffickers may also operate out of a variety of public and private locations, such as massage parlors, spas, and strip clubs. Adult women make up the largest group of sex trafficking victims followed by girl children, although a small percentage of men and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
