Explain How Have Political Communication Changed...
1.How have political communications changed throughout history? Radio, and Television was a big game changer in the politic world. politicians
could now speak to many people at once, and send their message trying to get you to support them and their mission. When television started putting
the debates on live T.V politicians had to worry about how they presented themselves on television as opposed to just being face to face because of the
impression that could make. Also still having to plan a good speech and say the right things, but now they had to worry about whether they looked
good on television, too. 2.What are the issues that are debated today? A few of the major issues that is giving an argument and stating something that

Why Do We Rely Too Much On Technology?
Technology "According to 2014 data from Pew Research, 90 percent of American adults carry a mobile phone and more than 58 percent of people

Teens, and even adults develop a bad habit of being on technology 24/7, in which is hard to break, the article Health Experts Concerned Tech Habits
May Threaten Speech, Language & Hearing as Communication 'Time Bomb' Looms by PR Newswire mentions this, saying, "New polling from ASHA
finds that informing parents and teens of the potential risks that overuse of personal technology devices poses to speech and language development as
well as to hearing health prompts an overwhelming unwillingness to change usage habits." Our society has been so attached to technology that we can't
give it up, no matter what damage it causes. In fact, it is shown that technology has had a negative effect on relationships, the article Mobile Devices
Are Detrimental to Personal Relationships states "While some analysts have argued that cell phones open up new possibilities of communication,
fostering instant text messaging and social media connections that expand an individual's personal relationships, some psychologists and sociologists
have suggested that this type of communication and connectivity is both less meaningful and less developmentally beneficial than face–to–face and
traditional communication." People in relationships have relied too heavily on technology and consequently has torn their relationships apart. In
addition, overuse of technology can affect your communication skills as well as speech. To demonstrate, in the article Overexposure to Media and
Technology Deprives Children of Healthy Outdoor Recreation by Castaldy, Daniel, Collins, and Linda Rice, states, "Social interaction for adolescents
is now largely achieved via text messages, Facebook posts, and tweets, while interpersonal interaction that typically accompanies outdoor recreation is

Conflict Management Rhetorical Analysis
Leadership, Communicative Intervention, and Fiscal Management In strategic communication and rhetoric, conflict management in the framework of
rhetoric, dialog, and communication is analyzed as a contemporary field of management, while managers are analyzed in terms of their role in conflict
management. An education of rhetoric enables communicators in any facet of any field to create and assess messages effectively. As a scholar of
organizational and political communication and communicative ethnography, I know that strategic communication organizationally calls for effective

India's population is diverse and ethnically consists of 72 percent Indo–Aryan, 25 percent Dravidian, three percent other. Additionally the CIA reports
that English is the official language for national, political, and commercial communication while Hinduism is the primary language spoken with an
additional 14 regional dialects commonly used throughout the country. Figure 3 illustrates India as a relatively young country with the total median

common is by interstate transportation. Rail systems are also a good and sometimes cheaper way to move a product, but there are limited hubs where
the rail systems go. Shipping by sea is the only viable means of moving product from one continent to the other, but, it has its own inherent risks

Political Communication in Oliver Stone’s Platoon and JFK...
Introduction: Political communication–communication with a political purpose about human interaction–takes many different forms including novels,
poetry, music, television, and film, which all have their distinct advantages and disadvantages in communicating with the public. Although some
political communication intends to enact or drive social changes, some political communication seeks to maintain the status quo. The film medium,
which is the subject of this paper, has a much broader mass appeal than other medias and often changes the viewer's original beliefs and perceptions
when he or she experiences over an hour straight of visual indoctrination of only one view. Over the course of the semester, we have learned about the...

While Platoon specifically focused on changing people's perceptions about the Vietnam War, JFK in particular encouraged more openness from the
government. Platoon Background behind the Movie: In Platoon, Oliver Stone presents an adventuresome and introspective, hell–bent and morally
inclined" combat war film whose tone "seemed to deglamorize war, while the charged action and intense conflicts undeniably provided steamrolling
entertainment" (Beaver 88). While many other Vietnam War movies exist, Platoon is a special breed that operates on two levels: the realistic and
spiritual. Stone drew his inspiration for this film from his own extensive military service in the Vietnam War. In 15 months of military service from
September 1967 to November 1968, he served in four different units and suffered two combat wounds (Beaver 83). He also met many interesting
soldiers that would later become his assortment of characters in Platoon. Written in 1976, Platoon received little interest and did not become a reality
until 1986, a year after Stone made the successful film Salvador. Platoon was a new type of movie and garnered much public anticipation and interest
because Stone, the first Vietnam film written and directed by a Vietnam veteran, showed a more realistic version of the

The Communication Strategies That Involving Actors Adopted...
For this final case application I will be analysing the communication strategies that involving actors adopted during the 2015 Paris terrorists attacks.
The event was one of Europe's most deadly attacks leaving more than 100 dead and more than 350 injured. Unfortunately however, this was not the first
attack on Paris that same year, in January 2015, terrorists attacked the Charlie Hebdo magazine headquarters killing twelve people. The November
attacks thus, occurred in a city that was already shaken by terrorists attacks. On the night of November 13th, the attacks occurred in different points
of Paris including the Stade de France (where President Hollande was), the Bataclan Theatre (where a concert was given) and many streets
throughout the city. All of the attacks occurred in less than an hour and were perpetrated by a terrorist cell who had pledged allegiance to ISIS. ISIS
claimed it had committed these attacks as a response of French military engagement with the terrorist organisation in Syria. However, the days after the
attacks were carried out are essential in order to take a grasp on understanding the crisis communication. After the attack President François Hollande
gave a ground–breaking speech. He created a clear us–vs.–them mentality amongst the French people that would help unite not only Parisians but all
French citizens. After the attacks, Hollande immediately took action by strengthening security in Paris and declared a nation–wide Г©tat d'urgence:

Direct Communication As A Bad Political Speech
Another way to avoid awful political speech is to change our habits within society and increase our use of direct communication. This habit would
especially help create good political speech because if citizens used direct communication more than it would influence political speech to be more
clear and straightforward. When using direct communication people have no underlying intentions and simply get straight to the point. Thus,
causing less confusion for people listening and coming across as candid and forthright. Likewise, political speech needs to be clear and
straightforward so everyone understands it and can therefore draw their own thoughts and opinions about it. Stanley touches on the problems with
language when he states "One reason speaking about deficits is hard is because of the entrenched language that is used to speak about the process"
(Stanley 84). Think about it, if it is normal for people to use direct communication in their everyday lives than it is more likely to be used in formal
settings as well. Currently, I think that having the ability to use very difficult vocabulary and write long and complicated sentences that go into formal
writing are highly praised and valued. The people who can do this are recruited to write political speeches for politicians. If instead society praises the
use of direct communication more, than that will reflect back into our formal spoken and written language as well. If we do this consistently enough
society might change.

Historical And Contextical Roots Of The Political Economy...
Some historical and theoretical roots of the political economy of communication
The political economy of communication (PEC) has its roots in moral and political philosophers that have established the foundations of political
economy's field, such as Adam Smith, Karl Marx, or J.S. Mill. Nevertheless, later interpreters have narrowed their works to their contributions to the
field of economics, ignoring not only the political aspects of their inquiries, but also the moral foundations of their intellectual enterprises. In other
words, classical moral philosophers at the core of political economy were originally committed to disentangling the scope and implications of social
structures organizing human life, regarding normative as well as practical ways of social distribution of power and access to resources. However,
instead of acknowledging their broader trajectories as philosophers, the field has later labeled them just as economists, at the same time economy has
turned into a "science", spreading its technocratic dogma.
Indeed, in his well–known overview of the field of the PEC, Mosco (2009) describes a genealogy situating its starting point in the political economy of
the 18th century, grounded upon the work of those moral philosophers. By that time, thinkers such as Adam Smith were engaged in making sense and
promoting capitalism's acceleration, tradition that finds echo in its 20th century versions that celebrate the growth of communication industries. Indeed,

Before the invention of radio, television, and the internet, people used to communicate by talking to each other. As much as it seems to be a foreign
concept to us today, news and general information was only spread by neighbors talking to their neighbors, coworkers to coworkers, and friends to
friends. There was no texting or tweeting that instantly took a message from one friend in California to another in Australia. There was no breaking
news flashing across a 32–inch television screen or over a radio receiver sitting in the family room. In very early times, there was not even any kind of

Now, they are becoming a major source of news and information for the upcoming generations. As technology advances, politicians continue to learn
how to best take advantage so they can stay connected to the electorate. New live streaming services are being experimented with today, and talk of
losing traditional news media, and the increasingly biased third party commentators, to amateur reporters and even direct streaming from politician to

Muted Group Theory
Muted group theory is a critical theory concerned with how gender, power, and communication relate to one another. It focuses on the ways the
communication practices of a dominant groups suppress, mute, or devalue the words, ideas, and discourses of subordinate groups (Kramarae, 2009).
The theory focuses on people with various social status and how they communicate. For example, it emphasizes how much these people speak, when
and where they speak, with what words and concepts, in what modes or channels, and with what repercussions (Kramarae, 2018). The muted group
theory also brings to light the ways that language structure and customs are not equal for all speakers. The theory suggests that an important way that
a social group creates and maintains its dominance is by stifling the speech and ideas of those the dominant group has labeled as outside the
privileged circle (Kramarae, 2009). The muted group theory has been extensively used by researchers in diverse fields of study. Some of these fields

Many of the strengths of the muted group theory have to do with the information it provides. For example, the muted group theory has given a new
way of understanding how the majority group and the minorities group communicate within society. Muted group theory explains some problems
women experience in speaking out in many settings (West, 2010). Additionally, the theory has caused society to think about how gender, power, and
communication relate to one another. Furthermore, the theory has also caused society to reconsider and reform the ways and methods in which
communication occurs. Moreover, the theory brings to light the biases within language and how these biases affect the minority groups. Finally, the

Schiller, 1969, 1976; Boyd–Barret, 1977). It saw homogenization as a result of cultural domination. The global expansion of mass media industries
based in advanced capitalist countries and particularly in the United States resulted in the destruction of local cultures and their replacement by a
single, standardized set of cultural forms tied to consumer capitalism and American political hegemony.Europe occupied an ambiguous middle position
in this literature. European media were seen as part of the dominant Western cultural influence on developing countries; at the same time, the early
cultural imperialism literature also raised the issue of U.S. influence over European culture.
The idea that media system change can be understood as a process of Americanization is still very much alive, and there is obviously much truth to it.
American programming still dominates many media markets, in some industries––film for example––perhaps as much now as ever before. And at a
deeper level, moreover, in terms of the kinds of media structures and practices that are emerging and the direction of change in the relation of media to
other social institutions, it is reasonable to say that homogenization is to a significant degree a convergence of world media toward forms that first

The Categories Of Oral Tradition In The Umudike Community
Oral tradition presupposes a body of largely unwritten prose, poetry and drama (Kur; 2007). Some of the oral tradition include myths, stories,
legends, folk tales proverbs, riddles, etc. (Okoye, 2002: 93). Categories of poetry as oral tradition consist of elegies, religious and lyric pieces, and
work of chants, topical and political songs, panegyrics, children's songs and rhymes. On the other hand satire, ritualism, masquerades, could be seen as

Basic characteristics of oral tradition are that much of it is in oral form, and transmitted from one generation to another. In other not to lose some of

Political Perspectives On The Political System
Political perspectives Ch. 2 VS. Dialogical ethics and significant choice Ch. 4
The political system is similar to communication theory in the sense that they both have interdependent rules and ethics that are important to the
success of the members participating. Just as there are different compartments to politics, there for communications as well. There are specific values to
politics just as there are to communications. Politics implements heavy usage of rhetoric, while a large portion of communications is based on rhetoric,
and vice versa. Within the political perspective, there are many different theories. Specifically, I would like to focus on the Four moralities. Founded
by Karl Wallace, he singles out four values and beliefs that he feels are essential to functionality of the political system. In simpler terms, the four
values include respect, fairness, freedom, and belief. In order for citizens to instill these values, he created the four moralities, which is essentially an
ethical guideline. These statements are utilized to promote the four values and beliefs. First, developing the habit of search. This entails
communicating ethically and readily exploring the details and outcomes of any given situation or scenario. This rule focuses on being extremely

If you are given a choice, what would you pick to be? A big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? Life will give you choices, situations,

Being born in Santo Domingo put me for many years as the "Big fish in the Small Pond" Since I was a kid, one of my passions have been to write, at

Political Media Influence On Political Communication
The countdown is on. The United States is less than a year away from its next presidential election. There are frontrunners and drop–outs on both sides.
News of the candidates dominate the headlines. There's no incumbent so the field is wide open.
For Americans, it is time to evaluate the contenders and start picking sides. These sides will be debated in the news, workplaces, restaurants and living
rooms across the country. Each side will have their facts and opinions. Does political communication influence the debate from all sides and can
political communication influence individuals to choose one candidate over another?
This paper seeks to find out if campaigns should target voters of another party and if their beliefs can be changed with political communication.
In presidential election years, there are the firm Democrat and Republican camps – those who will vote along party lines regardless of who is running.
Then there are the swing voters – those who are just looking for the candidate who they feel will benefit them the most. In–between lies the hardest
voter to target – the registered Republic or Democrat who just needs a little nudge to vote the other way,
Each side believes this type of voter just needs to hear the facts, see the figures, and then make the right decision. This belief is false hope. The thing
masquerading as false hope is one of the most controlling forces affecting the way people think, feel and decide – a behavior keeping an individual from

The Four Major Components Of The Communication-Persuasive...
The communication–persuasion paradigm has four major facets, which include the sender, message, target, and effect. The sender is a critical
component of the communication–persuasion paradigm in the sense that a persuasive communication process depends, in part, on the characteristics
of the sender (Jowett, & O'donnell, 2014). People place expectations on others based on a range of factors, which can be social, political, economic,
professional, and moral. As such, there are people who can be described as famous or trendsetters on the mentioned grounds. The persuasiveness of a
piece of information is determined by the level of fame or respect that the sender of such a message enjoys among a group of people (Dubois, Rucker,
& Galinsky,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a message about delivering the selves from the oppression of a regime presented without many facts are highly persuasive when the target
is the oppressed population. Generally, the levels of reasoning of the target and his or her abilities in understanding the information and any possible
consequences are important in achieving the outcome. The target is important because he or she is the one generating feedback, which is crucial in
understanding whether the message reached the right person as intended. Additionally, it is significant because it is useful in assessing the effects of
the communicated information. Lastly, the persuasiveness of a communication process depends on the effects it has caused (Jowett, & O'donnell,
2014). The effect is evaluated in light of the changes that are observed since the communication was made and the feedback that has been provided by
the receiver. For example, the percentages of voter turnout in a certain area when their political kingpin advises them not to participate in voting.
The effectiveness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in persuading people, particularly the African Americans was a factor of him as a trendsetter source, the
appealing nature of the contents of his messages, and the carefully selected intended targets (Arceneaux, Johnson, & Cryderman,

The Political Economy Of Communication
The political economy of communication is using political economy approach to analyse the media and communication. Therefore, before discuss the
political economy of communication we need to figure out what is political economy and what is communication. The definition of political economy
is not simple. This essay uses the definitions given by Vincent Mosco and explores its origin in Greek and inspiration from the ClassicalPolitical

Neoclassical Political Economy. Latter the characteristics of political economy study are also discussed based on Vincent Mosco's work in the 1990s.
The part of communication starts by defining the concept of communication in a political–economic way. To understand deeply the political economy
of communication, it is necessary compare it with culture studies, so this part also explains the similarities and differences between this two studies.
Finally the public television is used as an example to describe the peculiarities of the media and the political economy of the media.
What is political economy?
At the beginning, the political economy has is origin in Greek. The word "economics" is composed of "oikos" and "noms" which mean "house" and
"law" (Mosco, 2009). Therefore, "economics" is the management of the household (Mosco, 2009). "Political" has its origin of "polos" which means

Diversity in public communication
Corporations have a task of coming up with effective strategies of public communication in order to compete and survive in the market. Over the past
several decades, there have been changes in the way corporates communicate to the public with acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures coming up.
Another catalyst helping corporations to rise is the effect of globalization. It may be seen as a good investment or not, trustworthy or not, good
corporate citizen or not and easy to do business with or not. Over the years, there has been diversification in communication to the public with the use
available means.
The public also communicate among themselves using different communication media. In not only the United States but also globally, people who
use harsh words in public speech are perceived negatively. For public speakers, your audience will judge you based on how you effectively
communicate (Bel, 2010). Public speakers who have content mastery and are moving will be liked by many while those who continuously read their
scripts and do not use methods to capture the audience will be liked by less or none. In a similar manner, businesses have to use public communication
to advertise their products, sell their products, and get customer feedback. If the adopted strategies are vague or outdated, then the business will not
grow. This paper attempts to examine the positive and negative aspects that the growing diversity in public

The Freedom Of Political Communication
Introduction: The following piece is to analyse the implied freedom of political communication, and in doing this an understanding of both the
principle and why the courts are so hesitant to apply the principle will be developed. In its essence the implied freedom to political communication
is the freedom given to the public for freedom of speech of a political nature. Evidence of where this freedom was not given could be seen during the
chairman Mao rule in china, where the Chinese believed that the chairman was essentially God and speaking bad of him would result in biblical
destruction of life, and as so currently in north Korea under the Kim Jung Un rule. There are a number of cases that have developed the constitutionally

The source of the freedom: It is extremely important to understand the High Courts positioning on the sources of the freedom because it is essentially
the precursor to the courts positioning on the nature, scope, content and application of the freedom. For a number or reasons the ACTV and the
Nationwide case are considered together when looking into the implied freedom of political communication, one reason being that they were both
decided on the same day, but more so because they both identify the thought pattern behind the freedom. The ACTV case came about when a number of
broadcasting corporations, as well as the NSW government challenged a commonwealth legislative amendment, pt IIIID of the Broadcasting and
television Act 1942 (CTH), after a commonwealth parliamentary inquiry that found that the high cost and low quality of advertising was harmful to the
Australian political process. the nationwide news case resulted in similar processes however the cases could not have been more juxtaposed. provisions
under the industrial relations Act 1988 (CTH) made it an offence to bring the industrial relations commission or one of it members into notoriety. The
provisions were challenged in the case after one of the newspapers columnist accused the commissioner

Political Communication
Politics and the media have long been intimately involved with each other, with media strongly setting an agenda in which politics is very
important. (Harris 1999,p.167) "Our perceived reality of the real world is largely a product of the media." (Harris 1999,p.186) It is not known which
influences more but there are definitely two sides to the story. Many studies have been done to decide but each comes out with different answers.
Many say that the media has more of an impact on politics than does politics on the media. "The two have always been natural adversaries."

There is still argument for both sides but leaning more towards the media. Presidential elections, campaigns, and policies have always been
important in the media and to the public. The media creates a political world that is the basis of the public's knowledge and the later behavior, such
as voting for the president or any public official. The themes and issues that are repeated in the media become important to viewers. Those that are
highlighted become especially influential when it comes to choosing a candidate. The media affects evaluations of presidents. Presidential approval
is strongly influenced by how the media portrays the candidate to the public. For example, during the Gulf War, George Bush received bad publicity
based on his performance with the war even though his prior economic performance was exceptional. (Edwards 1999, p329) The values in which
people used to evaluate him on were influenced by what the media had to say. Particular televised political advertising, televised candidate events. And
news articles also affect the preferences and opinions of the voters. For example, Bob Dole in the 1996 election. His age arose early from the media.
During the primary election, over 800 news stories dealt with Dole's

Politics and the English Language Essay
George Orwell's essay, Politics and the English Language, first published in 1946, talks about some "bad habits", which have driven the English
language in the wrong direction, that is, away from communicating ideas. In his essay he quotes five passages, each from a different author, which
embody the faults he is talking about. He lists dying metaphors, operators, pretentious diction, and meaningless words as things to look out for in your
own writing and the writing of others (593–595). He talks about political uses of the English language. Our language has become ugly and the ugliness
impedes upon communication. Ugly uses of language have been reinforced and passed down in the population "even among people who should and do

On the other hand, writing can turn ugly if they don't care about what words they use and rush through the writing process. The idea is that ugly
writing impedes communication whereas positive writing allows for clear communication. Positive writing serves the purpose of communicating
clearly and concisely. It allows for the flow of imagery from the writer to the reader. In contrast, ugly writing does something else. It can be crowded
with meaningless phrases and fillers. People need to prevent bad habits from spreading by consciously guarding against them.
As ugly language is used in society, by written word or mouth, it can spread through the population like a virus. Ugly writing is only ugly in the sense
that communication is hindered to some extent. I'm not trying to say that the ideas behind the writing are negative or bad, although they certainly can
be. The intensity to which communication is hindered varies and can be negative for the reader's understanding. There are many ways in which writers
hinder communication.
In his essay, Orwell gives examples of commonly used language which doesn't help aid communication. The first are dying metaphors (593). A good
metaphor creates a picture in your head. The graphic novel Watchmen, written by Alan Moore, starts off with a vivid metaphor about the horrendous
amount of crime in a dying city; "The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains

How Do Different Generations Communicate?
How do different generations communicate? What are some of the reasons that experts are worried about the increase in online communication among
young people? Different generations have many different ways of communicating these days. The newer generations have most communication
through technology, things like social media, cell phone, online chats etc, but social media is the most prevalent form of communication. Older
generations have communication through actual conversation, face – to – face contact and things like talking on the phone. Marcia Clemmitt inserts in
her article a statistic saying, " As of July 2011, nearly 164 million Americans were using social media, according to the New York City
–based
media–research company Nielsen and by July 2012 the number had risen 5 percent, to about 172 million." So imagine the amount of people and

There have been several policies put into effect to protect one's privacy through social media.
Some of the legislation:
"November 2012, in a measure that applies mainly to email, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill requiring the government to get
probable–cause warrants to request most stored online communications from companies. And in December the panel approved requiring user consent
before an app on a mobile device reports information about its geographic location."
"On Jan. 1, laws took effect in Illinois and California barring employers from asking workers and job seekers for their social media account–access
information."
Federal legislation blocking employers and colleges from seeking social media access information was introduced in the U.S. House last April, but it
expired after no committee acted on it during the 112th Congress.

The Political Power Of Social Media
From hieroglyphics to the printing press, the concept of communication has been an integral part of society in order to express and spread ideas.
However, through technological advancements and the prevalence of social media, communication has become faster and easier than before,
allowing for greater involvement in activities globally. This has allowed for social media to become a method of political action because of its
accessibility and speed. With the advancing processes of social media as a political force, there have been arguments on the effectiveness and
different ways to take advantage of it. Clay Shirky, in "The Political Power of Social Media: Technology, the Public Sphere, and Political Change," has
addressed the various ways in which countries, especially the United States, has attempted to utilize social media to incite freedom of speech and build a
broader public sphere. He listed the instrumental approach, where anti–censorship and "western" websites are encouraged, and the environmental,
where local conversations among the residents of the country are encouraged. Shirky argues that inciting local conversations within people is far
more effective in the long run in order to make true change and create a public sphere. However, there have been criticism against the use of social
media as a way of creating political activism, especially from Malcom Gladwell in his article "Small Change: Why the Revolution Will Not Be
Tweeted." Gladwell argues that social

Social Media Influences On Politics And World Outlook
How the Social Media Influences Society's Relationship/views on Politics and/or World Outlook
Social media is everyday and everywhere. It's hard to imagine today's world without social media or social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter
or Instagram. According to Pew Research Center, over 81 percent of Americans use a social media platforms, the number of worldwide social media
users reached almost 2 billion people (Gotfried, 2016). Such a rapid growth of communication and interaction through social media leads to the
question of how social media impacts society's relationship on politics and world outlook. Nowadays social media plays an important role in
impacting our culture, our political views and our view of the world. Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friends or people we follow via social media platforms become people's trusted sources of information, even more than search engines. Social media
like Facebook and Twitter expose segments of the population to news who might not have gotten it otherwise (Mitchell et al), which fundamentally
changes the way we have to conceptualize and measure news use and exposure in an online environment.
Another positive influence of social media is the way it helps people to start and do business. It became easier to start and launch business today
using social media. According to Hyoungkoo (2016), 85% of fans of brands on Facebook recommend the brand to others and 71% of internet users
are more likely to purchase from a brand that they are following on social media .Almost 90% of big companies using social media have reported "at
least one measurable business benefit." In 2015, 98% of Fortune 500 companies used social media. Amongst these corporations the most popular sites
were LinkedIn (used by 93% of companies), Glassdoor (87%), Twitter (78%), Facebook (74%), and YouTube (64%).Benefits for the consumer often
include special promotions, product information, technical support, and customer service. Social media platforms not only locate collaborators and
employees through groups, but also give people a chance for advertising and promoting business. Especially, small businesses get many

A Position Within The Political Communications Field
1. Introduction: This paper will focus on a position within the Political Communications field. Political Communications is a sub–field incorporating
both political science and communications disciplines; dealing with the production, and distribution of effects of information, both through the use of
media interpersonally and within a political context (Norris, 2004). The process operates downwards from governing institutions towards citizens,
horizontally in connection among different political actors, and also upwards from general public opinion towards authoritative figures (Norris,
2004). For the sake of this paper, there will be a particular focus on the position of Director of Communications held by Steve Kee at the Insurance
Bureau of Canada. 2. Background: Established in 1964, the Insurance Bureau of Canada (also known as the IBC) is the leading national industry
organization representing Canada's private home, auto and business insurance (Insurance Bureau of Canada, 2016). The IBC has worked on a number
of fronts, by means of increasing public understanding of the different divisions of insurance (Insurance Bureau of Canada, 2016). Its goal is to make
communities, both small and large, safer, while championing issues directly affecting Canadians (Insurance Bureau of Canada, 2016). As of 1997, the
merging of both the Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Insurance Crime Prevention Bureau of Canada resulted in the drastic restricting of the

Technology Is A Positive Tool
Technology Is a Positive Tool In the anthology Points of Departure by Michelle J. Brazier, two writers have compelling arguments about the
influence of technology. In Ian Bremmer's essay, Democracy in Cyberspace: What Technology Can and Cannot Do for Us, he argues that modern
communications and technology are just mediums or tools because they can be used for various purposes. In Malcolm Gladwell's essay, Small
Change: Why the Revolution Will Not Be Tweeted, he argues that social networks are hurting social activism because less motivation is needed to
participate in online activities than in physical activities. Gladwell would respond to Bremmer's essay by stating that social networks and other forms
of modern communications create "weak ties" because Gladwell believes that there is no genuine sacrifice when it comes to social networks and other
form of modern communication and therefore no significant change will be occur. Contemporary forms of communications and technology are tools
that could positively impact society because individuals can use technology to express freedom on their own terms. Technology itself will not create
change because technology is an instrument, but it can be played in many different ways for example being used to engage with knowledgeable
strangers. Bremmer says, "The Internet makes it easier for users with political interests to find and engage with others who believe what they believe"
(44). The example Bremmer uses is political interests

The Most Critical Area Of Learning Needs For Students With...
The most critical area of learning needs for students with autism are communication, self–care and daily living skills, social skills, basic academic skills
(literacy and numeracy), self regulation and self direction, independent functioning in the community and employability. (Westwood 2007, p. 25)
Contemporary literacy learning for students with autism therefore needs to reflect the seven areas, however, students will not be motivated to learn if
their point of entry is not coupled with student interests and delivered with an inclusive and positive, strength based approach. The educator will need
to conduct research and possibly undertake a field trip to the student's home so that the student's family culture becomes known to the educator as all
children have virtual schoolbags that are full but only some children get the opportunity to make use of what's inside during their school lives
(Comber and Kamler 2004). Wood (2005, p. 3) says "critical literacy in the social world of students is the context for literacy instruction and learning'.
Part of being inclusive will be to equip students with autism with mutimodal forms of information that are available so that they can participate in
modern times in a modern world (Baker 2006, p. 371). Visual, gestural, kinaesthetic and three dimensional learning play a key role in communicative
practices involving awareness of lived cultural practice, global connections, and identity issues and felt emotions (Baker 2010, p. 66).

The Shortcomings Of Political Communication
The purpose of this essay is to apply the content learned so far in this semester to two central ideas: First, why political communication is central to
democratic theory; second, how the problem of democratic competence challenges the theoretical foundations of democratic governance; finally, how
well democracy functions despite the shortcomings of democratic citizens. To discuss the first idea we must first answer one very important question:
What is it about a democracy political system that makes communication central to its political process and policy outcomes? If there is one thing that
we've learned so far this semester, it's than communication, specifically media communication, drives this political "chess" we call our American
Democracy. The course text defines political communication is several different ways, but the main takeaway is that not only is political
communication a process, and yes sometimes a long one, it calls centrally on words and symbols "to mold attitudes and move citizens." (1) In other
words, political communication lies at the heart of our democratic system. It has the power to shape ideas, confirm beliefs and in the case of our most
recent elections and policy–making decisions, communicate to millions of people through the power of media. I would say that reaching out to the
decision–making citizens is certainly at the core of any democratic political system, in regards to the way it communicates. Without reaching out to the
voters in some

Importance of Communications in an Organization
Importance of Communications in an Organization
Your Name
Your College or University
Abstract
The accelerating pace of change is creating an exceptional level of turbulence in even the most well–run organizations today. Combined with
uncertainty over roles, responsibilities and jobs, employees are more anxious and concerned with the future direction of the organizations they are
members of than ever before. That's why communications within organization is so critical today, specifically the areas ofleadership and change
management. If one looks across the best–performing organizations today, it becomes clear why they are excelling despite increased competition and
turbulence. Their internal communications structures and systems are organized to provide the greatest level of certainty and transparency possible
while also continually concentrating on challenging goals and objectives.
Importance of Communications in an Organization
What galvanizes an organization together, makes it unique and highly differentiated in competitive markets, and infuses a level of confidence and
clarity in their employees as to their roles, is the quality of communication it has. Communications throughout an organization need to be fluid and
capable of quickly traversing the most uncharted and uncertain areas of a new opportunity, while also stabilizing information flows throughout its
existing structure (Lesikar, 1981). The aspects of excellent communication have more to do with how well

Political Communication, Illegal Immigration
28 November 2012 There are many controversial issues related to political communication in the world today. In my opinion one of the most important
issues is illegal immigration. Every year thousands of illegal immigrants sneak into the United States and take advantage of our government.
Unfortunately, the under enforcement of U.S. immigration laws is a crisis, and several states are taking it upon themselves to enforce their own
immigration laws. Illegal immigration has contributed to many problems including public policies, economic and labor markets, neoclassical models,
trade laboralization, poverty, over population, and many more. The media evokes social debate over borders, boundaries, and citizens. The usage of

These programs explained the idea that illegal immigrants are the cause for high crime rates in the U.S. "Number one, the illegal aliens shouldn't be
here. And number two, the culture from which they come is a lot more violent than the USA", says Bill O'Reilly. I can see how this statement is
insulting to immigrant groups, especially the Latinos, but when looking at the statistics they prove O'Reilly's statement to be true. "There are about 12
to 15 million illegals in this country, and that number is growing by 500,000 every year. Recent investigations showed that in Los Angeles 95 percent
of all warrants for homicide targeted illegal aliens. They put a strain on our Social Security, our education, our health care and, yes, national security",
stated Glenn Beck. The numbers don't lie, Beck's statement might seem a bit harsh but most people don't know what is going on in their country
today. Luo Dobbs was also criticized for supporting the Reconquista myth. The Reconquista myth was formed on the idea that the immigrants have a
plan to takeover the Southwest of the U.S. The U.S. took this area from Mexico in the 1840s. This myth has been deemed as false, but because it was
talked about on primetime television millions of viewers believe the myth to be true. "Voters' brains connect words, phrases, images, values, and
emotions, and these connections known as networks of association influence their receptiveness to political messages, often far more strongly than facts

Why News Ownership Affects Free Press And Press Censorship...
The importance of news media ownership has been both a contemporary and historical issue that has had significant effects on the way in which the
press operates and influences society. This essay examines why the ownership of the news media is of importance to society. In order to examine this
fully the essay will discuss why news ownership affects free press and press censorship, why it can be seen to change the nature of political
communication, and why is it is important that it affects the circuit of communication and the ways in which the public receive news.
One reason why it matters who owns the news media is that is can be seen to affect the levels of free press within a state, determining therefore how
regulated or censored information becomes. The freedom of the press is a factor that is highly influenced by the organisations and public figures that
own the news media. Government ownership of the media, particularly authoritarian regimes, can be seen to limit the levels of free press a country
has. Barker (2006, p. 5) argues that "authoritarian regimes regularly try to censor or control the mass media's provision of vision and information". His
argument therefore suggests that if the state has a strong control of the news media, they are more easily able to alter the information that the public
receive. For example in North Korea, newspapers, such as "the official party mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun, are all owned by the state" (BBC, 2011).
This therefore allows the

popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Twitter particularly has allowed public citizens access to a different side of the world's
leaders that we look to for answers and change. Participation and open communication in political democracy is promoted by social networking

New Media And Political Communication
New Media and Political Communication
Hadiza Cisse
Political Behavior: POL 411
Instructor: Samra Nasser
Introduction (1/2 page)
Communication has greatly improved in the recent past with the use of the internet and mobile communication devices such as mobile phones. In the
political arena, communication is an important aspect and the more the communication channels, the better. Theinternet has boosted communication a
lot and has made it easier and cheaper. For example, politicians today can communicate to their followers or to others through the social media through
facebook, Twitter and such. This helps them to be able to reach people in distant places; worldwide and also to communicate important information to a
wide audience and in a fast manner. Mobile devices including mobile phones, tablets and ipads have also facilitated faster and more effective
communication for politicians. Political communication is quite crucial and requires a fast and effective way of communicating which today, has been
facilitated through the internet technologies and mobile devices (In Giasson, et al., 2014).
Before the internet and mobile devices, political communication was highly analogue as it was done through newspapers and print media generally.
This was slow and could not reach many people as some people did not have access to newspapers and print media. With the advent of the new media
today, this has greatly changed. Communication about any political issue is conducted

  • 1. Explain How Have Political Communication Changed... 1.How have political communications changed throughout history? Radio, and Television was a big game changer in the politic world. politicians could now speak to many people at once, and send their message trying to get you to support them and their mission. When television started putting the debates on live T.V politicians had to worry about how they presented themselves on television as opposed to just being face to face because of the impression that could make. Also still having to plan a good speech and say the right things, but now they had to worry about whether they looked good on television, too. 2.What are the issues that are debated today? Mobile Devices Are Detrimental to Personal Relationships from the point of view of Mobile Devices on Personal Relationships. Our society has been so attached to technology that we can't give it up, no matter what damage it causes. In fact, it is shown that technology has had a negative effect on relationships, the article Mobile Devices Are Detrimental to Personal Relationships states "While some analysts have argued that cell phones open up new possibilities of communication, fostering instant text messaging and social media connections that expand an individual's personal relationships, some psychologists and sociologists have suggested that this type of communication and connectivity is both less meaningful and less developmentally beneficial than face–to–face and traditional communication." People in relationships have relied too heavily on technology and consequently has torn their relationships apart. Introduction: Political communication–communication with a political purpose about human interaction–takes many different forms including novels, poetry, music, television, and film, which all have their distinct advantages and disadvantages in communicating with the public. Although some political communication intends to enact or drive social changes, some political communication seeks to maintain the status quo. The film medium, which is the subject of this paper, has a much broader mass appeal than other medias and often changes the viewer's original beliefs and perceptions when he or she experiences over an hour straight of visual indoctrination of only one view. While Platoon specifically focused on changing people's perceptions about the Vietnam War, JFK in particular encouraged more openness from the government. Platoon Background behind the Movie: In Platoon, Oliver Stone presents an adventuresome and introspective, hell–bent and morally inclined" combat war film whose tone "seemed to deglamorize war, while the charged action and intense conflicts undeniably provided steamrolling entertainment" (Beaver 88). While many other Vietnam War movies exist, Platoon is a special breed that operates on two levels: the realistic and spiritual. Stone drew his inspiration for this film from his own extensive military service in the Vietnam War. In 15 months of military service from September 1967 to November 1968, he served in four different units and suffered two combat wounds (Beaver 83). He also met many interesting soldiers that would later become his assortment of characters in Platoon. Written in 1976, Platoon received little interest and did not become a reality until 1986, a year after Stone made the successful film Salvador. Platoon was a new type of movie and garnered much public anticipation and interest because Stone, the first Vietnam film written and directed by a Vietnam veteran, showed a more realistic version of the ... • 6. The Communication Strategies That Involving Actors Adopted... For this final case application I will be analysing the communication strategies that involving actors adopted during the 2015 Paris terrorists attacks. The event was one of Europe's most deadly attacks leaving more than 100 dead and more than 350 injured. Unfortunately however, this was not the first attack on Paris that same year, in January 2015, terrorists attacked the Charlie Hebdo magazine headquarters killing twelve people. The November attacks thus, occurred in a city that was already shaken by terrorists attacks. On the night of November 13th, the attacks occurred in different points of Paris including the Stade de France (where President Hollande was), the Bataclan Theatre (where a concert was given) and many streets throughout the city. All of the attacks occurred in less than an hour and were perpetrated by a terrorist cell who had pledged allegiance to ISIS. ISIS claimed it had committed these attacks as a response of French military engagement with the terrorist organisation in Syria. However, the days after the attacks were carried out are essential in order to take a grasp on understanding the crisis communication. After the attack President FranГ§ois Hollande gave a ground–breaking speech. He created a clear us–vs.–them mentality amongst the French people that would help unite not only Parisians but all French citizens. After the attacks, Hollande immediately took action by strengthening security in Paris and declared a nation–wide Г©tat d'urgence: public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Direct Communication As A Bad Political Speech Another way to avoid awful political speech is to change our habits within society and increase our use of direct communication. This habit would especially help create good political speech because if citizens used direct communication more than it would influence political speech to be more clear and straightforward. When using direct communication people have no underlying intentions and simply get straight to the point. Thus, causing less confusion for people listening and coming across as candid and forthright. Likewise, political speech needs to be clear and straightforward so everyone understands it and can therefore draw their own thoughts and opinions about it. Stanley touches on the problems with language when he states "One reason speaking about deficits is hard is because of the entrenched language that is used to speak about the process" (Stanley 84). Think about it, if it is normal for people to use direct communication in their everyday lives than it is more likely to be used in formal settings as well. Currently, I think that having the ability to use very difficult vocabulary and write long and complicated sentences that go into formal writing are highly praised and valued. The people who can do this are recruited to write political speeches for politicians. If instead society praises the use of direct communication more, than that will reflect back into our formal spoken and written language as well. If we do this consistently enough society might change. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Historical And Contextical Roots Of The Political Economy... Some historical and theoretical roots of the political economy of communication The political economy of communication (PEC) has its roots in moral and political philosophers that have established the foundations of political economy's field, such as Adam Smith, Karl Marx, or J.S. Mill. Nevertheless, later interpreters have narrowed their works to their contributions to the field of economics, ignoring not only the political aspects of their inquiries, but also the moral foundations of their intellectual enterprises. In other words, classical moral philosophers at the core of political economy were originally committed to disentangling the scope and implications of social structures organizing human life, regarding normative as well as practical ways of social distribution of power and access to resources. However, instead of acknowledging their broader trajectories as philosophers, the field has later labeled them just as economists, at the same time economy has turned into a "science", spreading its technocratic dogma. Indeed, in his well–known overview of the field of the PEC, Mosco (2009) describes a genealogy situating its starting point in the political economy of the 18th century, grounded upon the work of those moral philosophers. By that time, thinkers such as Adam Smith were engaged in making sense and promoting capitalism's acceleration, tradition that finds echo in its 20th century versions that celebrate the growth of communication industries. The theory focuses on people with various social status and how they communicate. The muted group theory also brings to light the ways that language structure and customs are not equal for all speakers. The theory suggests that an important way that a social group creates and maintains its dominance is by stifling the speech and ideas of those the dominant group has labeled as outside the privileged circle (Kramarae, 2009). The global expansion of mass media industries based in advanced capitalist countries and particularly in the United States resulted in the destruction of local cultures and their replacement by a single, standardized set of cultural forms tied to consumer capitalism and American political hegemony.Europe occupied an ambiguous middle position in this literature. European media were seen as part of the dominant Western cultural influence on developing countries; at the same time, the early cultural imperialism literature also raised the issue of U.S. influence over European culture. The idea that media system change can be understood as a process of Americanization is still very much alive, and there is obviously much truth to it. American programming still dominates many media markets, in some industries––film for example––perhaps as much now as ever before. And at a deeper level, moreover, in terms of the kinds of media structures and practices that are emerging and the direction of change in the relation of media to other social institutions, it is reasonable to say that homogenization is to a significant degree a convergence of world media toward forms that first evolved in the U.S. The U.S. was once almost alone among ... For Americans, it is time to evaluate the contenders and start picking sides. These sides will be debated in the news, workplaces, restaurants and living rooms across the country. Does political communication influence the debate from all sides and can political communication influence individuals to choose one candidate over another? This paper seeks to find out if campaigns should target voters of another party and if their beliefs can be changed with political communication. In presidential election years, there are the firm Democrat and Republican camps – those who will vote along party lines regardless of who is running. Then there are the swing voters – those who are just looking for the candidate who they feel will benefit them the most. In–between lies the hardest voter to target – the registered Republic or Democrat who just needs a little nudge to vote the other way, Each side believes this type of voter just needs to hear the facts, see the figures, and then make the right decision. The sender is a critical component of the communication–persuasion paradigm in the sense that a persuasive communication process depends, in part, on the characteristics of the sender (Jowett, & O'donnell, 2014). People place expectations on others based on a range of factors, which can be social, political, economic, professional, and moral. As such, there are people who can be described as famous or trendsetters on the mentioned grounds. The persuasiveness of a piece of information is determined by the level of fame or respect that the sender of such a message enjoys among a group of people (Dubois, Rucker, & Galinsky,... For example, a message about delivering the selves from the oppression of a regime presented without many facts are highly persuasive when the target is the oppressed population. Generally, the levels of reasoning of the target and his or her abilities in understanding the information and any possible consequences are important in achieving the outcome. The target is important because he or she is the one generating feedback, which is crucial in understanding whether the message reached the right person as intended. For example, the percentages of voter turnout in a certain area when their political kingpin advises them not to participate in voting. The idea is that ugly writing impedes communication whereas positive writing allows for clear communication. Positive writing serves the purpose of communicating clearly and concisely. It allows for the flow of imagery from the writer to the reader. In contrast, ugly writing does something else. It can be crowded with meaningless phrases and fillers. People need to prevent bad habits from spreading by consciously guarding against them. However, through technological advancements and the prevalence of social media, communication has become faster and easier than before, allowing for greater involvement in activities globally. This has allowed for social media to become a method of political action because of its accessibility and speed. With the advancing processes of social media as a political force, there have been arguments on the effectiveness and different ways to take advantage of it. Clay Shirky, in "The Political Power of Social Media: Technology, the Public Sphere, and Political Change," has addressed the various ways in which countries, especially the United States, has attempted to utilize social media to incite freedom of speech and build a broader public sphere. He listed the instrumental approach, where anti–censorship and "western" websites are encouraged, and the environmental, where local conversations among the residents of the country are encouraged. Shirky argues that inciting local conversations within people is far more effective in the long run in order to make true change and create a public sphere. In Malcolm Gladwell's essay, Small Change: Why the Revolution Will Not Be Tweeted, he argues that social networks are hurting social activism because less motivation is needed to participate in online activities than in physical activities. The most critical area of learning needs for students with autism are communication, self–care and daily living skills, social skills, basic academic skills (literacy and numeracy), self regulation and self direction, independent functioning in the community and employability. (Westwood 2007, p. 25) Contemporary literacy learning for students with autism therefore needs to reflect the seven areas, however, students will not be motivated to learn if their point of entry is not coupled with student interests and delivered with an inclusive and positive, strength based approach. The educator will need to conduct research and possibly undertake a field trip to the student's home so that the student's family culture becomes known to the educator as all children have virtual schoolbags that are full but only some children get the opportunity to make use of what's inside during their school lives (Comber and Kamler 2004). To discuss the first idea we must first answer one very important question: What is it about a democracy political system that makes communication central to its political process and policy outcomes? If there is one thing that we've learned so far this semester, it's than communication, specifically media communication, drives this political "chess" we call our American Democracy. The course text defines political communication is several different ways, but the main takeaway is that not only is political communication a process, and yes sometimes a long one, it calls centrally on words and symbols "to mold attitudes and move citizens." (1) In other words, political communication lies at the heart of our democratic system. It has the power to shape ideas, confirm beliefs and in the case of our most recent elections and policy–making decisions, communicate to millions of people through the power of media. The importance of news media ownership has been both a contemporary and historical issue that has had significant effects on the way in which the press operates and influences society. This essay examines why the ownership of the news media is of importance to society. In order to examine this fully the essay will discuss why news ownership affects free press and press censorship, why it can be seen to change the nature of political communication, and why is it is important that it affects the circuit of communication and the ways in which the public receive news. One reason why it matters who owns the news media is that is can be seen to affect the levels of free press within a state, determining therefore how regulated or censored information becomes. The freedom of the press is a factor that is highly influenced by the organisations and public figures that own the news media. Government ownership of the media, particularly authoritarian regimes, can be seen to limit the levels of free press a country has. Barker (2006, p. 5) argues that "authoritarian regimes regularly try to censor or control the mass media's provision of vision and information". His argument therefore suggests that if the state has a strong control of the news media, they are more easily able to alter the information that the public receive. For example in North Korea, newspapers, such as "the official party mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun, are all owned by the state" (BBC, 2011). This therefore allows the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
