Reference letter for Mr. Alan Šćuric
This letter is my personal recommendation for Mr. Alan Šćuric. I have met Alan in May 2007
when Alan applied for brand manager trainee position in marketing department of Dukat. My
position at that time was senior brand manager responsible for functional health brands such
as bAktiv, SenSia, ab kultura and Dukatol. As a trainee Alan reported directly to me.
During selection process Alan’s previous achievements, his surprisingly strong professional
approach to case inteview and the overall impression he commands made him clearly
outstanding among all other applicants. Projects which were about to start related to my
group of brands required that we hire the best trainee of all and the choice of Alan was
unanimous. As Alan’s mentor and superior, I have been working closely with Alan for a period
of 6 months after which I took a new position in Dukat Slovenia and Alan continued working
in the marketing department. During this period of 6 months, Alan was directly and
operationally involved in all aspects of brand manager’s job based on “learning by doing”
philosophy.
Apart from regular operative tasks which Alan performed with high quality and diligence
showing real eagerness to lean, one of the key projects that we have been working together
was creation and development of brand platforms for each of functional health brands,
according to Lactalis methodology. Since Dukat was acquired by Lactalis company just a few
months prior to Alan’s emplyoment, implementation of this process has been new to all and
required a lot from the whole marketing team. Alan took the challenge immediately showing
strong strategic thinking abilities. His work and contribution in this regard were very valuable
and well above average, especially so taking into consideration the level of experience of a
trainee. Another very important project for Alan has been setting up of brand strategy for
new functional brand SenSia which has in the meantime become one of company’s brand
pillars. Alan was intensly involved in the management of brand SenSia from the brand’s very
beginning, even taking the lead in the period when I took my new job. Managing of brand
name migration from BioAktivLGG to bAktivLGG due to regulatory demands was also very
important experience for him and to say the least, challenging project in which Alan took the
lead himself. Alan’s communication and presentation skills were clearly above average and
not only when compared to trainee level of experience. He is a team player, always ready to
share his point of view, able to motivate others and gain active cooperation from his peers
and superiors.
Although I didn’t have the opportunity to work with Alan since, the steps he took later in his
life and carrer and the achievements he made, confirm the impression I got about him in the
very beginning of his career. He is higly capable and motivated person with strong
achievement orientation and clear professional goals. Apart from his business acumen, he has
many other and varied talents like music, sports, arts, languages…which he readily uses in his
professional arena too, which makes him more rounded as an individual and professional.

From the beginning of his carrer Alan was exposed to international context and this is the
context where he naturally belongs. As an employee, Alan demands maximum not only from
himself and his peers but also from his superiors.
What impresses me about Alan is the fact that he is very serious professional dedicated to his
career and at the same time, he is friendly and outgoing person with a lot of interests and
well developed network outside of business community too.
